I am stock 2.2 Froyo (ran the RUU last night).
Has anyone experienced applications showing up in Appbrain (or the market) as needing an update, but when you try, it says that "the requested item cannot be found".
An example is Text-To-Speech Extended, which is required for Google Translate. It shows up as being needed on the install, but when it tries to install, it cannot find it and fails. If you go to Appbrain/market to install it, it shows ready to download/install, but then it cannot find it and fails.
Any ideas?

+1 on this... I'm dealing with that after rooting and KaosFroyoing my Droid Eris. In my case I pulled TTS Extended, as well as "Flybys" and "Yams" out of a backup; however, now Flybys wants an update which isn't found. I've written the contact and he says he'll ask the developer....

I just updated my Captivate to the "unofficial... official" Froyo that was posted here on XDA. I also can't find TTS Extended in the market.
How do I install from the file you attached? I Downloaded it, but don't know how to install it.

I have the problem in the title. Of course, all the pre-loaded Google apps do not show in the Markeet downloads and they don't auto-update or show update notifications. I managed to install Youtube, Gmail and a few others by visiting the Market and installing them over the original pre-loaded app (I guess). Now I can find them in Markiet downloads.
The problem I have now is with Google Maps. It's not in the Market downloads, since I never downloaded it from there. But I can't even find it when I search the Market, I can't access any links or barcodes (the result will be "The requested item could not be found"), there seems to be no way for my phone to access a link for downloading Google Maps.
I have the original ROM, no root, and in the Google Maps About section I see "Version: 4.5.1 (#4665) gmm-android-htc". Is it an HTC version of Goole Maps?
What can I do? Do I need an .apk file? Why would this app be forbidden from showing up in Market for my phone? Maybe it's my phone region, but I doesn't make sense.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
These are market glitches and iv had times even on rooted phones with the market not showing certain apps that DO exist. What i did was reinstall the Google bundle apps but since your not rooted i am not quite sure what you can do but wait? or maybe a cache clean or a factory reset if all else fails
... or go settings, apps, running, find market, force stop, clear data. God knows if it'l help at all but always worth a shot.

Bingo! Not available in Romania yet I used temproot and MarketEnabler to get it.
Install the one from http://www.mediafire.com/?54mn0zw747vc1sh - I just got it from my phone.
@ddotpatel,aznsnake666 - Tried clear data, clear cache, etc. but it didn't work.
@keinengel - So I guess you have the same problem. Downloaded the file, it works! But I wonder why Google Maps isn't available for Romania?!?!? Thanks!

Yup, same problem. I think we need to gang up on Vodafone and get them to sign an agreement with Google for paid apps - maybe that'll fix it.
Google Maps was pre-installed in my ROM, so looking in the Market I could still see it though it wasn't showing as "Installed".
I simply clicked on "Install" and the new version overwrote the one in my ROM, and it works fine now.
I still don't get it... why is Google Maps availability depentent on region/carrier? It is a free app anyway. And since I paid for my phone which includes Google Maps, I think I should have access to updates too regardless of what country I'm in.
(There are other posts around the forum about this, but none apparently directly related to Desire)
I'm using Oxygen 2.0 RC7 ROM with recommended radio, Oxygen HBOOT & S-OFF.
I've tried using the Online Market today, but not having much luck.
The apps I have purchased / installed show up in the market, but I am unable to install any new apps from here with the site claiming: "There are no android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account."
If I check the settings under "My Marketplace Account" no device is detected. The help only has 2 options;
1) Check your account login (done, correct)
2) open the market on the device (done & downloaded an app to be sure) - Still no dice!
Is anyone else having this issue with:
a) the same ROM / setup
b) a different ROM / Setup
Has anyone discovered a workaround?
Has anyone had the same issue with a similar setup but been able to correct it?
Has anyone had NO issues with the same/similar setup?
So many questions...
Appreciate any and all advice
No problems with oxygen, but since it only just launched give it some time. Probably just a bit busy because everybody is trying it out.

I have the same problem, but I'm using Leedroid 2.3d. In "My Account" it only shows paid apps and some free apps, which I have deleted a couple of month ago.
I haven't found a solution anywhere. But it seems others have got this problem too. And it doesn't seem to be related to the Desire or any specific rom.
Yeah, looking at the official blog post announcing the release, it appears this porblem is affecting stock ROMs also.
Waiting game!
similar issue here: LeeDroid 2.3d
I can see apps I installed before I rooted the phone, but no apps after that.
In the settings page I can see my phone and the "Last used" time stamp is today but for all the apps the latest time stamp is on the day I rooted the phone (the 3rd of January).
I opened a ticket with Google.
In the same boat - no devices found

I have exactly the same set up (but I'm with Telstra not Vodaphone).
From device - market access fine - and can even see my purchase history in my gmail account dashboard - www dot google.com/dashboard/
But no matter what I do, no device found on website.
Tried reinstalling oxygen (as I had installed the latest marketplace which isn't part of the standard RC7 release), but no help...
Would love to hear how to fix this!
Well, I don't quite know what to say... but mine...just....started working!
Maybe the roll-out has had some bugs or other issues? I dunno. Just checked back and it saw my device. Tried installing an app and it started pushing to my device immediately.
I guess you'll just need to hold on and be patient?
Cheers, Jeff
ok, so I got a new HTC Desire HD from my fathers company when we moved to China not so long ago. But the phone had a pre-installed chinese version of Android 2.2.1, which don't even have a app market.
Is there a way to get get google play on it? It's a bit annoying to always search around to find a .apk file of the app you want, download it to the computer, send it do the phone and hence install it.
This would help a lot.
Thank you in advance.
You could always just download the play store .apk
There are 2 at the bottom of the page, either a modified one or the original .apk

Nothing, you need to make your device not look like it is in China or a China version as the google market is blocked in China and on China based devices

Apparently you need to install the modified version in the link i posted, and when prompted to overwrite select yes
Download the modded .APK file
Connect your device to your computer.
Place the .APK on your device, but don’t use adb install; it won’t work since the Google Play Store is already installed
Open the .APK with a file explorer of your choosing, and install. When prompted as to whether you wish to replace the current Google Play Store app, you select “Yes”.
After a short installation process, that’s all. Your are now able to access unrestricted Play Store app.
Still not working ...

Ok, so I have now successfully rooted my phone, and installed the modded version of Google Play, but still, when I'm trying to launch the application it says; "The application Google Play Store (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.)
Could this be because of a too old Android version (running 2.2.1)? Should I install a custom ROM?
If you are rooted, that seems like the next logical step. There are several 'stock' or 'near-stock' ROMs, as well as many 'modded' to choose from, based on gingerbread (2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 2.3.7). Most ICS are still incomplete although pretty functional.. Work in progress is the phrase they use. Must warn that once you start ROM swapping, it gets quite addictive
Desire HD : CM7.2.0 RC1 : Tapatalk 2.1.0
it worked!

Hello Members,
Maybe someone can help me:
2 Months ago i installed Market Access because I wanted to use Google Wallet (not available in germany).
If i search for Android Updates (now using 4.0.3) the phone says yes there is a update but if i download the updatefile and try to install, phone says "wrong update file, installation aborted".
Could it be that Market Access also affects which Updatefiles are downloaded???
If yes, is there any possibilty to switch back to normal?
I already deleted Market Access, but the problem still exists...
Thanks in advance!
Daniel
Before you removed market enabler, did you switch back to your region?
Symptoms
Google Play Services Error - receiving a message " An Application Requires and Update"
when trying to use "Update" , I get "Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again"
when trying to "Deactivate" i get "This app is a device administrator and must be deactivated before uninstalling"
this is now affecting other apps (Google Keep, Hangouts, etc)
I talked to Google already ,cleared download manager, did factor reset twice, no avail, same issue. their recommendation is to contact Asus
Yesterday I unlocked and rooted the tablet, same issue.
Any suggestions? I downloaded "com.google.android.gms.apk" but the system does not let me install it
Thank you in advance , I am stuck for over 3 weeks
You can try going into the Google Play Services app, then force stop, clear cache and clear data. This may do it.
What you may need to do, what I've had to do, is delete the Google account off your device, then add it back. (A reboot in between couldn't hurt.) Why this happens, I don't know.
I suggest to flash a factory image, may be, there is something destroyed in the firmware ...
Just wondering....

I am not sure that I have any clever answers right now, but to clarify the problem, is this with Google Play itself not letting you update or install anything (without producing this error message) or is it a specific app that you are trying to update which is the only one resulting in this error?

It is both
a) Google Play Services require an update (which refuses to install)
b) com.google.android.keep (Google Keep) requires an update (otherwise not letting to open -" This app won't run unless you update Google Play Services"). when trying to update it takes you to the same screen for Google Play Services update which fails.
If it helps, the store shows me 4.0.34 section under "What's new" which I think is not the latest Google Play Services apk
Thank you
tried both...

I tried both (multiple times), as installed by Google Support and forums
a) removal of all accounts
b) reset to factory image.
c) force stop, cache/data clear
same issues
any other thoughts guys? is custom ROM by only answer?
if it helps, this is an LTE tablet
How about this?

I tried that too.. with noresults - may be not doing it right.
Used Wugs Nexus Root Toolkit (which I find to be excellent along with instructions) and tried to use ES file explorer to manually copy/load apk - no success.

At this point I'd make backups and flash a new ROM (stock or custom LTE). Something's been corrupted that isn't easily fixable, and you'll save time in the end by starting over from scratch.
I would agree that it sounds very much like something is corrupt in the ROM that you currently have; I would have a browse through the appropriate forums and find a new flavour of ROM to flash onto your device.
I have also heard great things about Wug's toolkit but have yet to use it myself.... about all I *need* to change on my N7 right now is root so that I can install a few choice apps that would not run otherwise, but don't want to wipe everything just for the sake of it
removed google+ from my account, solved.

for all its worth, I solved it by reflushing factory image and removing google plus entry from my google account. no issues now. thanks to all who helped!
If that is what worked, I am glad you have a working solution I can't take any credit for suggesting what you had probably tried anyway.....
