[Q] PB31Img.zip being converted to lowercase pb31img.zip - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all fellow XDAers,
I have this strange problem that I noticed this morning. Yesterday my new 32gb microsd arrived (which works perfect!). I migrated data from my old microsd to the new one. Then just for kicks I tried to flash a splash screen, as usual I put the PB31Img.zip to my sdcard and flashed. On HBoot I got the "wrong image or no image" message and it went on its way to rebooting fully. When I looked for the file, on Clockworkmod 2.5.0.5 it says "pb31img.zip" and when I view it in Astro file manager it says "PB31IMG.zip" and even on my Windows PC it says "PB31IMG.zip".
Any ideas what might be causing this?

[Q] Black screen with white bars after root? Help would be appreciated

Hey guys here is what i did step by step. This is my first root and i researched this a good bit but i obviously didnt read enough ; ;
Phone info: droid i, slcd, froyo stock 2.2 with november update. i bought the phone a couple of weeks ago.
I followed rooting instructions found here
(couldnt post the url cause im a new user) its found on jonsuh dot com
1) Already preinstalled clockwork mod app
2) Installed Hboot driver.
3) ran new revoked3
4) root was successful and my phone booted up.
heres where its gets tricky.
5) ran clockwork mod.
6) selected back up (figured this would be a safe idea before i started adding roms)
7) it prompted me to install clockwork mod recovery file. i did so then clicked on backup again. my phone turned off rebooted to the HTC incredible screen then went to this black screen with white bars on each side of the phone.
Ideas on what might be the problem would be greatly appreciated.
So i just a battery pull and started my phone back up and it booted up.... epic fail/win
win: phone phone started
fail: i wrote this whole damn post out.
might be helpful for those who ran into the same problem rooting thier phone though.
i read somewhere i should use an older clockwork recovery file. is that correct? and if so, can some tell me one that will work with an SLCD phone?
You might check this out.
ok so i made another boo-boo. i tried to install the virtuous rom and i clicked on clear data and wipe cache and when the phone restarted it stopped at the htc screen which had a black bar across it.
i tried rebooting it a couple different ways but now bastboot is booting up to the htc incredible screen and just staying there... i hope i didnt brick my phone...
please help!
you have an slcd droid incredible and need the modded clockwork recovery from adreynlyne thats all http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788306
thats should take care of the recovery issues
do you know how to move the file to the root of my sd card? i dont have a micro sd card reader...
ok so i went out and bought a micro sd card reader. put the new renamed .zp file onto my sd card. went into hboot and it still says the pb31img.zip file is missing. any ideas?
i extracted the renamed zip file to my sd card. was that the right thing to do? or do i just put the unextracted file in there?
You are thinking too hard!
Plug your phone into your PC. Set it to be a disk drive and copy the file to the SD card. (It will have lots of directories and stuff.)
I am not 100% sure, but I think the file name might need to be in caps. It must be named exactly.
Turn your phone off.
Hold down the down volume button and turn it on.
Magic should happen.
got it working thanks to setexascustoms. had to install it then reinstall virtuous rom. lost all my contacts but im back up and running!

[Q] Please Help: Having trouble unrooting HTC EVO 4G

I initially rooted my EVO 4G using unrevoked forever. Now I'm having trouble getting back to the stock ROM with S-ON so I can take my phone into Sprint. After using the unrevoked S-ON utility I attempted to load: PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed (md5=7056d42812aa5df03fcc8dddc2b64e85)
after renaming it to PC36IMG.zip and placing it on the root of the SD card. After booting in to HBOOT I get the following:
SD Checking...
Loading...[PC36DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PC36IMG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36.IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
My phone has:
HBOOT-2.10.0001 MICROP-041f
Radio-2.15.00.11.19 Oct 15 2010
Baseband version: 2.15.00.11.19
Build number: 3.70.651.1
I'm pretty sure PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed is the file I need to load because my phone is using HBOOT 2.10. Is this correct?
I have attempted to load my phone a number of times using different signed Stock EVO 4G images but I keep getting the "No image or wrong image!" message. I have also attempted to use RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed but when I run this from my Windows computer I get Error [170]: USB Connection Error. I've tried a variety of different drivers; the last one being the drivers at HTC's website for HTC SYNC 3.0.5511 but keep getting the same [170] error.
Any ideas how I can fully unroot my phone so I can take it in to Sprint? Thanks in advance.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19699565/3.70 RUU Zip.zip
Try that RUU, a 3.70. Rename to PC36IMG. if your bootloader is still s-off, re-flash the unrevoked s-on in recovery, or keep flashing til it becomes s-on. Then run the RUU I linked you to.
Unrooting
That should be the correct file and since you posted the MD5 I assume you checked that before trying to run it.
Next step would be to make sure that you didn't name the file PC36IMG.zip(.zip) because Windows automatically hides file extensions.
Rename the file by just typing PC36IMG and then transfer to the root of your SD card. Also, that particular file is 202 MB so make sure you have the whole thing.
Let us know what happens next!
Thanks for getting back to me. I have S-ON. I'm downloading the RUU from the link you sent me. I'll keep you posted on the results...
Sounds good cappy.

Yes, I checked to make sure the checksum was the same and the file name was PC36IMG.zip (I have my Windows machine set to show file extensions) before I loaded the PC36IMG onto my SD card. The file size of the PC36IMG.zip file that I am trying to install is indeed 202 MB (206,859 KB).
Going to try the file that teh roxxorz sent. I'll keep you guys posted...

Are you sure its not PC36IMG.zip.zip? because for some reason its not detecting the file.

Most likely, just making sure yours wasn't corrupt.

Yes, I just checked the file on the SD card of my phone using Mac OS. The file is PCIMG36.zip (without the extra zip)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695243
Try the sdcard card fix, it seems that the card isn't being detected.
I'm not sure why the bootloader isn't detecting it. I've tried other SD cards still no go...Any other ideas

When I plug the phone into my computer via the USB I am able to mount the SD card as a drive. Just followed the link...downloaded and unzipped flash_image & mtd-eng.img to the root of the SD card.
After I Booted into HBOOT
I selected fastboot by pressing the power button...
Not sure what this means...
"ADB commands
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot reboot"
Do I need to do anything here?
I just attempted to install PC36IMG.zip through the ClockworkMod Recovery.
Selecting install zip from sdcard > Choose zip from sdcard and selecting PC36IMG.zip
ClockworkMod responds...
Confirm install? THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE.
I then arrowed down to "YES - Install PC36IMG.zip" & pressed the power button to confirm
The process begins...
-- Installing: SDCARD: PC36IMG.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: can't open /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip (bad)
Installation aborted.
Any Ideas?
The PC36IMG can't be installed via recovery, it has to be done from the bootloader. After you boot, it'll scan, and then should ask the update, in which you say yes, then reboot.
Okay, I think I resolved the problem. The problem was related to the microSD cards I've been using. I've been trying to use a few different 1GB microSD cards I had that weren't being used. After swapping back to the stock 8GB microSD card and placing the PC36IMG.zip into the root and booting into HBOOT, the Evo loaded the image file without a hitch. Hopefully someone finds this info useful. Thanks teh roxxorz & anderson620 for taking time to help me out.

[q] help with hboot

I'm attempting to Unroot my Evo because I've all of a sudden had issues with Data Connectivity while running MIUI.
I've already flashed the unrevoked-s-on tool, and now I'm trying to flash the PC36IMG but my Hboot does not check for it at all?
I'm sure the IMG is on my SD card, any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple things required to be sure that your bootloader will scan and find the PC36IMG. One, the file has to be on the main directory of your sd card. It cannot be in any folders. Two, it has to be named exactly PC36IMG.zip. If you use windows to look at the file, it should appear as just PC36IMG, because windows hides the file extension (.zip), although it's really there. If that's the case, and you happened to add a .zip, it would really be named PC36IMG.zip.zip, which would cause the bootloader to not find it when it scans. So basically, be sure it's named correctly, and it's in the correct location (main directory of the sd card). If those two criteria are met, it should find it, and ask you to update. If it still doesn't scan and find it, you should re download the file, because it could be corrupt.
Also, you need to be sure that you are indeed in the bootloader, and not in fastboot. If you see 'bootloader' as one of the menu options, you aren't in the bootloader, and your in fastboot. If that's the case, select 'bootloader'. Good luck.

[Q] Can't boot into recovery...

Hoping someone can help me out - I have a rooted Incredible, and went to use ROM manager to flash back to a backup made 2 months ago. Also flashed an older version of CWM recovery (because for whatever reason the newer releases never worked). The phone went to boot into recovery and do it's thing, but then the version of CWM I flashed didn't allow the phone into recovery, and now I'm stuck at the boot screen and a battery pull didn't work. I can't even power down/reboot the device (unless it's plugged in), it just goes black for a second, then HTC Incredible screen shows for 2 sec, then back to boot screen. Any ideas? I tried putting an older version of CWM onto the root of the SD, but it's not recognizing it as an available "update" on the Bootloader screen.
Thanks for any help!
You would need a PB31IMG version of CWM. You can get it here http://dougpiston.com/?page_id=85. Put it on the root of your SD card the hold the volume down+power button, and wait for it to load it, except the update and that should do the trick.
Would I need to erase the ROM manager file from the SD card so that it picks this one up? It's not picking up the .zip and prompting me to install...
I don't think you would need to do that. Make sure that the file is named correctly PB31IMG. Ive had the issue before where I named it PB31IMG.zip and I did not have to put the.zip after it otherwise it won't be recognized. Maybe that's the issue you are having...
You sir are a genius! That worked perfectly. Thanks!
Glad to help! I think the reason your wife's SD card doesn't work either, is because it is not in FAT32 format.

Flashing a New Radio

I recently just switched back to a DInc because I smashed my iPhone screen, I went through the long process of getting it rooted and such.http://androidforums.com/incredible...ow-unlock-downgrade-achieve-s-off-htcdev.html)
I have a FAT32 card, I'm trying to update the radio to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735184.
When I go into hboot, I let it sit there, and then it says checking PB3DAGIMG or something that is not PB31IMG, and it says it cannot find the file.
Anyone have any idea whats causing this?
Moved to Q&A as this is not Development
Please post in the correct sections. Thanks

Backup the sdcard to a pc, reformat it fat32 with a pc, and then try again. Sometimes it needs a reformating to work. The file must be named exactly PB31IMG.zip and in no folders on the sdcard. You must also be s-off.
