hey everyone, new member here, yesterday, I got the android running on my touch pro 2, its from us cellular, and when I run it, I can call out, text, do anything, theres a "x" where the service bars are, and when you call my number it goes straight to voice mail.
I got the downloads from here, and am using the rhodium . so I'm unclear what to do.
anybody got any ideas

It's odd that you can callout & txt... Perhaps you mean "can't"
Either way, it's probably this value - force.cdma=1 needs to be in your startup. If you're using MJGDroid, just check the "force cdma" box and boot!
yep, your right, cant call or text or anything. I hate to be an idiot, but is there a idiot proof way you can get me over this hump. I'm using xdandroid, that's really all I know

Uhm... perhaps try the things I suggested!?!
if what arrrghhh suggested did't work. try to remove your sim card, and reboot. that should help.
or reinstall android

If all you have time to do is belittle people, then please dont add comments if they're not helpful.
Afterall, the reason I came here was for help, should'nt that in itself mean something.

He didn't belittle you. He was just confused whether you tried what he suggested or not, because you weren't clear. Trust me, if people here want to belittle you, it will be much more harsh than that.
MJGDroidUtil is the .exe that boots Android. When you click on the "Project Android" icon to boot Android, you will get a screen where you pick your model of Touch Pro 2. On that same screen, you have a couple checkboxes. You need to check the one that says "Force CDMA".
If you haven't already determined what model of Rhodium you have, I think US Cellular is RHOD400. But if you take out your battery, the model is printed underneath it.
Hope that helps.
fix for USCC us cellular
i was having this problem with "NO SERVICE" when i put android on, after days of digging thru threads/forums/fixes ect i found a fix.
i dont have a link cause i gave up on using this fix but look into an app for android called gscript and i think over on ppcgeeks forums they had the code to force it accept the USCC's network.if not your gonna need to create a txt with notepad and fill in your 10 digit number where it says in this code .
#!/bin/sh
chmod a+rw /etc/ppp/pap-secrets
chmod a+rw /etc/ppp/options.smd1
cat > /etc/ppp/pap-secrets << EOF
[email protected] * your10digitnumberhere
EOF
cat >> /etc/ppp/options.smd1 << EOF
user [email protected]
EOF
busybox cp /etc/ppp/pap-secrets /init.etc/ppp/pap-secrets
busybox cp /etc/ppp/options.smd1 /init.etc/ppp/options.smd1
then save that file in notepad as a .sh file not as a .txt . after that you dump it on to your sd card ,start up android and run gscript and run that file.
however, using this fix was causing me to lose the the startup.txt file and causing android to lock up on boot. (at black linux screen with everything loading) EDIT...... im still loosing the commands in the startup.txt, when i restart sometimes it cleans out the the txt of info, but leaves the notepad file there at 0 bytes. i have to keep a back up on my PC to copy over the dead one in the androot folder just to boot android. scratching my head.....
i fixed mine by simply erasing all everything on my sd card and doing a format for good measure. then installing the .cab like in the instructions and the big part to all this was as soon as you get project android installed on the sd card, SOFT RESET! dont do anything else, just soft reset. i started up win mo and ran the project android icon and low and behold it worked.
yes! on us cellular select RHOD 400 and check the force cdma!
good luck and keep us updated

Hi
Finally got round to noting down a few issues that are really bugging me, and I'm sure there's someone reading that can show me what's going on:
1. Receive an MMS....I open it, then press the download button, then wait....and nothin happens?? Why??
2. I still have not been able to get onto the Internet through GPRS ...I feel this may be connected with the above. What should I do?
3. No attachments will open on my XDA2s. Why?
I know these issues must be fairly simple to some of you, but I am not as technically minded as some and have no problem in asking for help, so, help!!
thanks

At a suggestion - has your phone contract company turned on GPRS on your account??
looks to me like you GPRS service is inactive or...
the connection properties of the phone aint set right.
Good old O2 do seem quite good at setting up people with the wrong type of GPRS! Make sure U have mobile web set.
The options within your email account settings should allow you to select whether to dowload attachments. Otherwise it should just be a case of "edit-mark for download", although your current issues may be related to the above.
Attachment not synching
I deleted database pmailAttachs and it helps :

Can you tell me where is the file?
My problems is after selecting a file to attach, it prompted the error message I mentioned earlier that no files could be attached at all. The files cannot be viewed under your device's File Explorer. But if you explore your device from the PC, you'll see an additional folder called Databases where you cannot add/edit/delete. I had to download a tool called Pocket dbExplorer.

I had my phone set up for Cingular in the US and had trouble also. on the www.imate.com site, I found a download area to configure your phone GPRS to your country. For me it was Cingular USA. It worked perfectly!

hello. I am having an issue installing skype on my smartphone. It currently has the Rogers ROM on it (yes, I changed it again )... Active Sync gets it on the phone alright, but the issue is when it starts to install on the phone, it comes up with a notice that I have insufficient privileges to continue. I have already tried the Application unlocked, but that just tells me that my phone is not unlockable.
I search around and found that the issue may be that the installer is trying to set some registry keys that it is not supposed to and to alter the .cab file. But I cant find the .cab file on my phone anywhere, so I dont know how i can go about modifying it. The PC-side installer is just an .exe file.
I also soft-restarted my phone to clear memery, so that is not an issue eaither.
Can anybody lend some insight to this issue?
thanks

However it always feels nice to stumble on a forum where the people know what the hell they are talking about.

Welcome to the forums, kaponya
If u are using the same rogers rom, all u need to do is to download the cab file in that thread, copy it into your phone using activesync or bluetooth, and then just click on it, which will execute the program, and you might be asked to restart the phone for full effect.
Cheers
Well, since a new user has bumped the skype thread, has anyone been able to direct the sound thru the earpiece, and not the external speaker, in a satisfactory way yet?

Nope, I believe that it can only be done through the speaker... I was messing around with it and I could not get it to do it through the earpiece... maybe someone knows how to do it but I tried and no success.
Hi,
About two months ago during one of the numerous rom flashings on my SPVM3100 , I came across a strange issue. I called Orange many times and they changed my SIM card twice but finally said they don't understand this and gave it up. My SPVM3100 is over two years old - so they're not gonna replace the device.
Here's the issue:
whenever someone leaves me a voice mail, instead of receiving the normal "voice mail" notification and it's icon in Today screen, I receive a text message! These texts are unreadable (consisting of only 2 signs, like a triangle sign and an @ sign. Or an @ sign with an underline sign _).
Whenever I receive such texts , I know that I have a voice mail ! I dial the voice mail service, listen to the voice message and delete it. But each time my voice mail box becomes empty another annoying text is sent to me - perhaps cofirming that the mail box is now empty (I wish I could read this new sign language )
The phone shows that the texts are coming from the SIM Card !! (so we thought that perhaps the SIM has problems and that's why Orange changed my SIM Card twice).
This is really annoying.
The Orange tech people exhausted their knowledge for the past 2 months but couldn't solve this problem , gave it up altogether , and are now asking me to contact HTC ! (which I'm sure would be useless).
That's why I'm asking this from xda developers and gurus to see if they have any explanation for this bizarre behavior of my device.
Thanks for any insight and sorry to make a thread for this annoying issue.
have you tried flashing with a different rom? i know similar things would happen on motorola phones, and required hex editing of certain files to turn that feature off.

Fallen,
A six-month-old critically annoying problem was solved in 30 seconds
I am sure we all know xda developers and gurus are genius.
As I said in the post, almost all technical guys & gals in Orange did literally exhaust all their knowledge & experience in the past six months to solve this issue but it was obvious that they didn't absolutely have any clue what the cause of the problem was; whereas Olipro had found the cause and the remedy very quickly.
This is really serious because Orange is a huge multi-billion corporation and they claim to have their own top developers/programmers/technicians and yet they shamelessly suck !
Now on to my second question :
On almost all original (HTC and AT&T) ROMs , the HTC Home Plugin shows the network as "Orange". But on some of the cooked ROMs the network is shown as "UMTS Orange". I know the meaning of UMTS and I understand that whether the network is shown as "Orange" or "UMTS Orange" the phone appears to function the same.
I just want to know what happens in some cooked ROMs that the phone recognizes the network of the SIM card as "UMTS Orange" and not the usual "Orange" ? I talked to some Orange technicians, their replies are really rediculous - one of them kept saying: "you must change your mobile settings" ! But she didn't have a clue what she was talking about as she didn't know where those damn "mobile settings" were and how they could be changed! I can swear she had never held an SPVM3100 or a Kaiser in her hand.
I've searched the forum but haven't been able to find a clear answer yet. I am asking this question just to improve my personal knowlege on this issue.
Thank you for your guidance and insight.
hey,
I get the same problem too when installing new Cooked ROMs.
In order to get rid of the 'UMTS' in front of the Operator name you have to edit a registry entry.
Use a registry editor and navigate to: HKLM---> Software---->OEM---->Phone Setting
In there find an entry labelled 'Enable3GLongName' And change it from 1 to 0.
Restart you're device and it should just say 'Orange'
Hope that works

Thanks bro. Yesterday, before reading your reply I reflashed my device and
this nwe Binky11's V3.8 ROM got it right. So for now, I don't need to do the registery; however, I made a note of your advice for future reference.
I should keep reading to see what happens in most cooked WM6.1 ROMs that they get the network name as such and why the original ROMs get it right.
Thank you very much for your reply.
I'm really hating that I downloaded this garbage onto my phone. The keys are a MESS. I've tried to download the fixes but I still can't sync my dash to my pc to even begin to fix it.
I called T-Mobile and their systems are down or something and won't be back up for 24 hours. UGH! I'm never downloaded "the latest" anything ever.
Sorry. I don't mean any disrespect but I can't believe I was foolish enough to blindly ruin my phone.
Does anyone know how I can fix it?
?
What steps did you follow, what ROM did you use?

OH SHOOOT! I'm a jackass!! I disconnected the dash before I did the second install to fix the keyboard.
Is there a way to get that fixed?
not quite sure
what you mean. After you flash the ROM then it goes through a couple of setup stages and reboots. You should then be presented with a working newly flashed rom at your new homescreen. You can then Activesync and copy over the keyboard fix and install it.

I can not get my bank java application to either send sms or connect to internet for activation or transaction. Pls help.
Lol..
Edit; Removed this post. I do apologize, acting before thinking seldom brings good things. Might have been smart to check out your profile first, you are so right. The tallest man is the one who admits his errors. Have a nice day
I think he just believes there to be an error with "java" with this rom.
he is not asking us to do anything other than tell him how to fix the java.
Firstly you should not have made a new thread, should have asked it in the Rom thread where people are more likely to help.
Secondly java is working fine in 3.2
Did you install 3.2 after a wipe or straight from 3.1? if so that might be your problem
Thank you Lennyuk. That was exactly my problem. I actually installed 3.2 straight from a stock rom and while the java was okay as in the program runs, I was unable to get it to activate (needs and sms or gprs for that). It just stays there for ever either sending a message or connecting with no result.
My suspicion is that there is a permission issue or something.
And I have made a post in the main thread, but it appeared buried in the issue of MMS etc.
As for my dull friend who equates every Nigerian to a scammer, I advice that you look well sometimes before you leap. You can check my profile on this board, I have been here for a long time. Pls watch what you say to people, leaping at people like an alsatian dog on community forums like this does not portray you as civilized.
You may be right with the permission issues there, as for a fix I am not so sure. maybe you should try asking in the main forum again now as the mms issues have gone away.
Thanks, I have done it. But I will be glad if people who are experts in this can please check and advice me. Thanks
Try this:
Delete the "java" folder on your sdcard (NOTICE! You'll lose every java program installed already). Then reinstall them again. These actions may will bring them back to life. Make sure you can reinstall them before doing so.
BTW, Make sure your mms and internet connection work with other programs such as htc mail, original mms progam and etc... If they're simply not working, you may need to ask your provider about how to set them up.
