Hi, I am having more odd problems in that some text messages that come in with no number pick a random contact (appears to be the same one). Also, i sometimes get texts from different people appearing in the same thread (as a conversation with someone else) and when you click reply it goes to the wrong person...... very odd..... im not sure what is going on there but has anyone experienced this? This might be me not knowing something or doing something wrong though...... many thanks in advance, matt
This also happens to my girlfriends phone. When she receives a text from a no number (ie a text from Orange 241, or a National Express ticket) it appears as it is from my cousin...
It does another odd thing too, where when she turns the phone on she gets a black text message every time from no number.
Very odd!

Hello,
I've suspected for a while(and confirmed with friends) that relatively often, my sms don't get to them. It's shown as sent in my phone and in the sms threads, but they simply don't recieve them.
So I tested it out with another phone, sending 5 sms' to the other phone and it only recieved the first one. the other 4 never got there... Now could this be some sort of anti spam causing it? - I did send them in rapid succession. However when I send messages from the OTHER phone to me, regardless of how quick, I get them all. And we're on the same network/provider so that doesn't seem to be the problem.
During regular use, even SMS' sent with lots of time inbetween gets lost occassionally.
I've never had this problems with my old phone so does anyone else have a clue why this is happening? As you can imagine, it's frustrating thinking someone has gotten a message but it never reached there.
Thank you.

Hey thanks for the reply, I saw that but doubt that's the same problem.. I usually list most of my numbers with +, and it shows the message is "sent". If it was the same problem as the link above, I guess it would b epossible to reproduce it everytime but mine is seemingly more random.
The specific number I tested it on was a number WITHOUT the +areacode, and even that produced 1/5 messages recieved by the other party.
Any other ideas?
I had that problem before with my touchPro. All I did was hard reset the phone, active sync my contacts and I sent out text messages. Everything worked fine after that.

Also checked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4016381&postcount=31 ? see if the number is still correct in windows mobile?
Also try to sent from the windows interface a couple of times (in the textmessage touchflo tab touch the new sms icon in the above right corner.) see if it does better then.

God you know what, you're right. Thanks. I did look through the WM sent folder before but not far down enough..
It does seem to drop the + after the first SMS then not reapply the + until I get a reply.
Annoyingly my phone still tells me "Message Sent" instead of invalid number though, so there's no way to tell if it sent the message without going to check the sent folder I assume?
Doesn't seem like there's a fix or even a confirmed cause for this yet?
I'm having a strange reversed problem: all SMS I send are regularly delivered, but I "miss" many incoming ones. the strage thing is that it happens (AFAIK) only with my girlfriend's ones!! nobody else still complained about me not anwering, so that should mean I received and answered all other mesages.
Please note that we have the same mobile operator (Vodafone Italy)
today she tried her SIM with her bro's phone, and guess what, the problem is still here BUT the difference is in lost messages: 4 out of five lost with her Moto v9, 2 out of 6 lost with her bro's nokia. that sounds really weird to me.
where do you think the problem might be? mine/her SIM, or phone?
I'll call Vodafone Italy later, but their assistance and support is really awful, they do not even know what they are talking about, and reply with the same pre-confectioned anwers every time.
I remember this happening to my rooted g1 with the slow and sort of crappy sense ui installed; so when my wife complained that her text messages on her Slide dont go in order i was shocked that the problem STILL exists.
I didnt see a thread about it here, sorry if i missed it. Anyone else have text message conversations where the texts are out of order? Phone is stock btw
I appear to have that same problem too, but I'm using stock Android right now. If we have the same problem I can elaborate on it more.
My problem seems to be that if I get a text message reply from someone and it's in the same minute as the last text message I sent the person, their text will go above mine, even though they sent their's after I sent my text.
So for example: I send a text to somebody at 3:20:15PM and that person sends a text to me at 3:20:55PM, their text will go above my 3:20 text, making it look like they sent the message first.
I had this problem as well, before my phone was rooted and even after. The only solution i have found is to install a different SMS app, which i use Handcent because its the closest to the stock app, and its free.
interesting, my wifes is stock and she said it happened with texts that were no more than a minute apart as you mentioned.
i just cannot believe this is still a problem. Sense UI is neat but this sure seems like a fundamental feature that shouldnt have such issues...
same thing has been happening to my texts, before and after root.
i can say the same thing happens to me also

Has anyone else had an issue where a text message that was sent much earlier in a conversation is randomly marked "Not sent"? Its really confusing when I get the notification only to scroll up several texts and see a text (that is responded to) get marked as such.

I get virtually this all the time (except it's trying to send rather than not sent). It used to do it on my desire too. I'm using Handcent by the way.
Hello all,
So my wife is telling me she is having a weird issue with her S3. I haven't gotten a chance to diagnose it myself so I figured I would check with you all to see if anyone has noticed this.
She is saying that she will send me a text message and when I respond a few seconds later my text response will display before the text she originally sent me. This seems to only happen when I respond quickly. She is also informing me that, as of right now, she sent a message with the timestamp 9:37. The response she got from me (again, I responded quickly) shows the timestamp of 9:36 and is appearing before her message I responded to.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? Let me know if I am being unclear.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
Also, she is not rooted or anything. The phone is in as-bought condition minus whatever she installed from the Play Store. She is using the default messenger.

I'm not sure about the stock one, but some SMS apps have the ability to either order texts by 1) the time the sending phone says it was sent, or 2) the time your phone actually received it. My guess is this is a result of a slight difference in the time on both of your devices and her phone is ordering them by originating timestamp, not receiving.
If it's not an option in the stock MMS app, I know a few of the alternative apps in the Play Store offer this "fix".
That's a good point. I am on Verizon and she is on AT&T. Maybe there is a slight time difference and this is causing things to come in out of order. I'll have to check that out.
Mine does it on occasion but fixes itself later on. Both my Captivate and my S II dud it as well. I'm not too worried about it.

my s2 and s3 do this when i'm at my parents house. I think what happens is the towers time is behind on the tower you're on. That's what I've kind of concluded since it only happens at my parents house.
Hey everyone, I'm not sure if one of you has experienced this but I have been having something very bizarre occurring with my text messaging. ONLY (so far as I know) between my mom and myself, text messages occasionally get truncated and concatenated with random old messages. For instance, I just sent her a message and what she received was the first half of my message and the second half of a message I sent over a year ago (from a different phone, no less)! She has had the same phone the whole time, but we've restored it several times and nothing's helped (the portion of the message that gets appended is not even on her phone anymore). It seems to only happen between my phone and hers. My texts to everyone else go through fine, her texts to me come through fine, and others' texts to her go through fine, but periodically, our exchanges are just garbled nonsense. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any ideas on what could be going on? I'd greatly appreciate any input!
Oh, it might be noteworthy that this seems to only happen when I send messages from my computer, but I don't think this is the culprit because I've used multiple desktop SMS clients and it's happened on all of them (and still only with my mom).
Edit: I just looked at two of the "broken" texts that she forwarded back to me and both got spliced after 154 characters. This doesn't seem like a coincidence to me but being that it's under the 160 character SMS limit, it also seems like a rather odd number. Perhaps someone can make sense of it.
Edit 2: I sent my mom a lengthy message simply saying "test test test ..." and got another unusual result. The first one, which was greater than 160 characters, went through just fine, but the second, which was closer to 500 characters exhibited this peculiar issue...But this time, the message was as follows: "test test test...[after 154 characters] __PORTION OF RANDOM TEXT___ [back to] test test test ..." Does anyone have the slightest idea why this is happening? It's so odd and now I'm mostly just curious about what the **** is going on and why it's following this pattern.
