Is there any way to get a non sliding and non cropped wallpaper for the Galaxy S, manual way or via application ?
Its really bothering me that the wallpapers are cropped and ultra pixelated even if the crop box is set to the largest.. I mean there has to be a way around this aside from using another launcher..

960x800 is the size you need for the best quality background (.PNG). As for a non-sliding background, you have to use a launcher that has that option, LauncherPro would be the way to go (ADW if you prefer, either way).

Anyone know goog tool to resize wallpapers to fit my Archos 101?
If selecting new pic from gallery, it goes blurred when set to wallpaper and most of picture is 'outside' of visible backround.

good wallpaper an archos gen 8 is a pain, the stock wallpaper system does indeed zoom your pics and looks blurred (slightly better on png than jpgs) , you can try over laying you own pics onto a larger canvas putting it sort of top right but i find this very hit and miss 2 apps can solve your problem but both have issues .
multipicture live wallpaper is one way and can give excellent results if set up correctly. You can have single picture for all home screens (works best if scrolling disabled) or a dif picture for each home screen which i find a bit slow. However the drawback is battery usage, and delay when coming out of heavy use app like browser.
The other one is crop wallpaper app which has centering issues on most launchers but works quite well on go launcher ex but has issues crashing quite often, at least on my 70 250gb ! i have tried them both with very impressive homescreen results but have gone back to stock wallpaper in favour of stabilty and superior speed
good luck
I used to have a wallpaper app on my Evo that allowed me to use wallpapers without having to crop them the way the stock wallpaper app does. It was called wallpaper plus but is no longer available. Does anyone know of an app like this?
I'm not looking for an app that downloads wallpapers, only that allows me to crop them the way I need or not crop them at all.
Thanks!!
It's not the size of your toys, its what you do with them that matters!!!
i use wallpaper wizardrii. not perfect, but has quite a few options

As long as it allows me to use wallpapers I download from the web or transfer from my Mac or PC. I don't understand why Android makes you crop just a small portion of the image. The Wallpaper Plus app I had allowed me to crop it so that it fit right without having to be enlarged and pixelated. I'll give the one you mention a try and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion
What I've been using since I got my Acer a500 last year is multi picture live wallpaper. It allows you to use 1 or multiple wallpapers and uses them in actual size. It uses minimal battery and is buttery smooth.
so I've been on the internet, and everytime I find a wallpaper from the HTC One, they're only 1080x1920 instead of the typical 2160x1920, which is the wallpaper size for the DNA and S4 and other 1080p phones (obvi double the width necessary to fill the screen), which means they can't be uploaded to Zedge without warping or letterboxing them, and it also means it could be hard to find wallpapers on Zedge if the One doesn't support 2160x1920 wallpapers. Whats the deal with the wallpaper size, anyone know?
AW: HTC One Wallpaper Size
The one wallpaper size is 1080x1920, Sense did not allow wallpaper scrolling atm, so you need an height of 1920 pixel and a width of minimum 1080...
one'ed
You can get scrolling wallpapers with a different launcher, also I am sure that Venom Viperx team will do them scrollable in Sense like they did on OneX,so better keep both 2160x1920 and 1080x1920
i have tried some launcher, but wallpaper scrolling still not working.

Same here I am using Apex and I tried all the settings but my wallpaper is not scrolling really annoying, before I thought I am the only one, can someone help what's wrong with wallpaper scroll
Did you try with ADW launcher?
Also can you uninstall blinkfeed with Titanium Backup?
Perhaps this app is preventing wallpaper scrolling with non-sense launchers.
Worst case scenario is to wait for a MIUI/CM/Carbon rom or Viperx

I had this problem as well when I first got my phone.
I am using the Nova Launcher and while I know it should work right off the bat there is an issue that needs to be tweaked. If you go into these scrolling settings you need to tell it to force the scrolling and then it goes to the normal action that we're used to.
i use 768 X 1280 pixel since there is no scrolling i get best quality with this resolution.
You will get better quality with 1080 x 1920 as that's the resolution of the one.
The resolution you are using is 720p which is still going to be good as at this small a screen the difference won't be that obvious.

Even with 3rd party launchers wallpaper scrolling doesn't work. The only work around I found was using this live wallpaper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shirobakama.imglivewp&hl=en
But for normal non-scrolling use, 1080x1920 is the best to use.
I know this is a really noob question, but what size should a wallpaper be for the GS3? And also, if I use a different launcher like Nova or whatever, and something like Widgetlocker lockscreen or will it resize images?

Bigger is better, settings/display/wallpaper/home screen or lock screen or home and lock screen will give the option of selecting the wallpaper from a source. If you choose gallery it will let you choose your wallpaper and then give you the option of cropping it/resizing it...

Yeah bigger is always better, that way it doesn't get all pixelated when you go to set it to that image. And also, here's crop image dialog you get when trying to change wallpapers with Nova:
Perfect. Thank you
I hate how it doesn't let me pick 2 different pictures for portrait and land scape

Hi,
Not new to XDA but new to this section. Bought a 10.1 yesterday and so far I am happy with it apart from 1 thing. Whenever I set a wallpaper it gets zoomed in. Even when I chose in Nova Launcher that it should be static. I know why it zooms coz it needs to fit the wallpaper so it scrolls.
Is there any way to get the wallpaper to look like it looks in the gallery?
Tried Wallpaper Wizardrii but can't get it roll the way I want it to.
Also tried Image 2 Wallpaper and same as above.
Also Zedge and Kitty Play won't play ball either.
This is super annoying.
Suggestions?
I think I might have solved it myself.
In the gallery when you do "set as" I chose Nova Wallpaper. Then it shows as a static wallpaper in its correct size, no zoom.
