Fring - SGS front facing camera now working - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Fring have just released a new update. The good news is - SGS front facing camera now works just fine. Using Bell I9000m with no firmware update - stock JG9.

It worked before for me
Used it with my brother who got an iPhone 4.
European SGS i9000

Does it work with skype?

fring doesnt support Skype.

It used to.what protocol does fring support video chat for?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

It's plain fring-to-fring video chat. No special protocol like ICQ or MSN is used.

Oh disappointing.i was going to video call my brother in japan

Is there a way to change the IM and Call tones.

You can receive video calls using unlocked Skype 2.0.47 version from xda but as far as I know you can't send video from your own phone. I have black image from my camera (G2 with 02/07/11 CM nightlie) when video calling with other person using Windows version of Skype. Really good receiving video quality over wi-fi, though.

Can u provide a link to that unlocked skype
Edit
Found but working only ina way
On the beginning call so see my camera when call is revived I see only other can and my one is black
So received video is working but my one is not

yah same here i tried the unlocked version from xda and i can see the other person from a pc and from an iphone but video isnt working on my side (black screen)
It won't work since Skype wants its video stream from a front camera. Which we ain't got. If it can be done on an N1 and it doesn't work on ours, maybe its calling in a weird way.
New build for Desire HD works well on G2/Desire Z with CM nightlies.
Here's the link to working version:

Video calling works great on wifi.

Nor working with every rom. I suppose it depends of the base used.
i downloaded the official skype from the market, and i made a successful 2 way video call from lebanon to canada... it was awesome, no lag, no problem
Try qik
Works but uses rear cam

Worked fine when I was on stock OTA gingerbread, I skyped my girlfriend for about an hour but it was pretty silly with no front facing camera , haven't tested it with CM 7.1 yet.
I didnt get problems in the past using CM 7.1 with that

Video Chat

Okay, lik the majority of people here, I'm only 16, and all of my friends have skype and oovoo, and I'm trying to figure out what I need to use to video chat with them... g talk? Thanks for your answers

There is a modified skype app in the Hacking and Development section that supports video chat. I think you have to be on a gingerbread leak though. I'm on EG22 and it works great!

I use qik but I don't know if that would work if they're using skype and oovoo

I would think it work seeing as how Skype owns qik now. But I could be wrong. Everyone I know has qik on there phones so that's what I use.

Skype works if you're on bamboozle rom. You need to have a modified skype app though. I believe from the I9000 xda thread. Look around.

ooVoo works best for me - but remember one important thing - both of you must be on the same software - if you want ot talk to your friend and he is on ooVoo, you must be on ooVoo - you can also have more than one video chat software on your phone to say accomodate another friend that has Qik, therefore you must be on Qik also.
Found the modded skype video chat its freaking awesome. First acceptable video chat from my epic and all my friends have skype. I'm on eg22 as well

The Skype app is definitely the way to go all the other apps I used were complete crap. I haven't used gtalk but skype is flawless.

[Q] No video call option?

On the original sgs2 when you brought up the dialer their was an option for video calling.
The tmo rom on our phone is lacking this

Tmobile is slackin lol

isn't that with Skype. Nothing but integrated app software. The my touch 4g had it with qik video calling integration. If I recall it wasn't that great. Just download the app. Which is most likely better than the software integration.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
the stock Tmo ROM came with Qik installed for video calling, but it's not integrated into the Dial Pad as the international SGS
in fact (I heard) that gtalk video chat is dis-allowed in stock rom is this true? (cannot be installed to video chat)

The current version of Skype doesn't work on Android 4.0.1 it appears.
Logs me in, but thinks none of my contacts are online, and thinks I have no Skype credit.

Thanks, hope it will get updated soon !
But Google Hangout should work well with the FrontCamera or? Could never try it because of the missing cam in my Milestone 2 :/
Actually for me Skype seems to work mostly fine. I can make calls and send messages but I can't use the front or the back camera. I can see the other person's video feed though.

As with the Bionic, they will have to update the app to specifically work for the Galaxy Nexus front camrta
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App on UNL3ASH3D R3BLURR3D V2.3 and will continue to be sent from here until I buy the Galaxy Nexus 32GB
I can login and chat, haven't tried a call or video though

Video chat on the Galaxy Nexus is, indeed, broken. There is an official Skype forum thread at:

Back camera Skype not working

Hey guys, my wife has a S4 and everything is working great! However, yesterday she tried to do video calling on Skype. The front camera works no problem, but the back camera is not displaying anything... Is this a Skype issue? The back camera works fine in the camera app.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Skype doesnt support all android devices. May be its because its Microsoft child.
I never made it work on my s3 too. Havent tried on s4 though.
