[Q] Software version 1.22.605.0 and 2.2 OTA - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was reading about installing the "official" 2.2 update.zip, and one of the requirements for this to work is a software version of 1.22.605.2. I was rooted with the 2.15 radio and used the downgrade.zip to revert back to stock. I am running 2.1 update1 with a software version of 1.22.605.0. Will I still be able to receive the official OTA update with this software version or does it need to be .2?

Thank me later.

The link i posted on my thread for the update.zip is better

Nevermin, it seems that the mega upload one i posted was too large...stange

What file is this link for? Also, which thread are you talking about?

How do I upgrade this phone ? :

How do I take this to 2.2 ? Do I wait for 02 ?
If I have to root, will I always have to use a specific way to update in the future ?
Thanks
I'm want to know this aswel ive been waiting for the o2 update but it still aint here, how hard is it to add 1 screen to the 2.2 froyo and send it out.
Could some one advise if this is the correct way to debrand and upgrade my desire..

Thanks
You need 2 things for a quick route to FroYo on your Desire:
1. A Goldcard (check the Dev forum for instructions)
2. The RUU file to run to update you to FroYo
If you can't find the RUU file you can get the 1.21 generic one and then get the OTA upgrade to 2.2
EDIT: It seems shipped-roms has been suspended so the host to the RUU files has been taken down. You'll need someone to rehost them (of Google them)
EDIT: This should work...
http://14.cnc.115cdn.com/pickdown/M...0022_signed.exe&key2=37382e33332e37352e313934
Bare in mind that doing what I suggested will give you a completely stock - and unrootable - Desire so only do it if you want to keep your phone stock
Thanks.
rooting isn't important to me.. but...
If I wait for O2 to upgrade to 2.2 would that allow rooting ?
Does this way stop it totally or is the default stock rom that could be rooted when someone sorts it ?

[Q] Did I use the "official" update.zip version?

Hi,
I have seen threads making reference to a Froyo "B" and a "D" rev of the OTA update. not sure if one version was a 'leaked' pre-release or what but I used one to upgrade my bone stock 2.1 Dinc.
I am now not sure if I used the correct version as there are many download links to the update file on the site.
My current info after the update is:
kernel version 2.6.32.15-gb7b01d1 htc-kernel 'at sign' and18-2#1
Build number 3.21.605.1 CL231334 release-keys
software nunber 3.21.605.1
browser version webkit 3.1
Did I use the right version? If not, what is the steps to get the right version installed?

Has anyone upgraded a Telus (Canada) Desire to Froyo?

I have a Desire from Telus in Canada. I would REALLY like to upgrade to Froyo and wanted to know how to do it in a safe way that won't mess up the phone. So I'm wondering if anyone here has done it yet.
Please let me know!
This is what my Software Information screen shows:
Firmware version
2.1-update1
Baseband version
32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09
Kernel version
2.6.29-e5576724
htc-kernel and18-2 #1
Build number
1.29.661.1 CL198499 release-keys
Software number
1.29.661.1
Browser version
WebKit 3.1
Use the general guides for rooting the device with revolt (make sure you grab the custom image for SLCD screens!), then head over to modaco and you can find a stock Froyo rom there unless you want to run a custom one.
for me i didn't have to do any rooting. first i used this guide. create a gold card first though. after creating the gold card, i used this very first link in the first post to update to froyo (2.09.405.8). after that, you can go to ota updates in the settings on the desire and it will then upgrade it to 2.10.405.2.

[Q] RUU as safe haven for operations?

Hi,
After searching and searching the forum and reading threads, I still have questions which are not answered.
I have succesfully downgraded my HTC Desire Z from the latest version to one which can be rooted. I followed instructions from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261
In the process I downloaded following RUU file:
RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe
It is my understanding that this file contains the version of HTC Desire Z with Android 2.2 (which can be rooted).
So, if RUU file is used for making the phone as it was un-boxed (correct?), then I should keep this file for:
a) if I wanna root my phone?
b1) if I wanna go back to official stock version by manufactor?
b2) and addition to b1, I can update my phone via OTA to latest official HTC version?
And I hope yes/no answers to a, b1 and b2.
If no, please explain why it is not so?

Yes to all three. As long as your bootloader is S-Off you can flash anything you like. Though to get an official ota you may have to run through a few versions because those will check to see if you are on the correct build before allowing an update

If you have a lower version than that RUU, you should be able to. If your software version is higher then no, you'll have to follow the downgrade guide.
