Which hard case would you recommend?

I much prefer slim hard cases, typically seidio brand. I can't seem to find a good alternate. Quality is much more important to me than price. What do you guys suggest?

I'm on my fourth case and they all suck. One scratches the phone. One turns it off when I'm not looking. One fits too loosely, and one got all dirty the first day.
I'm going to buy this one next in silver. I like the fact that it looks like there's really no case and it got good reviews on the case mate site. I'll let you know how I like it if you want.

I've been using my case-mate tough case ever since they came out with them, and I can't speak highly enough about the quality and fit.

I tried this case in silver and sent it back. I found that it degraded my phone signal. Of course, AFTER I buy it I do some searching and find other complaints on the silver cases for various phones.

I haven't noticed any issues with the silver barely there case that I just got. But as far as protection goes, probably not the best one for this thread's request.
I also have a tough case, which I highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid case for protection.

Case-mate tough case is great, as someone allready stated I cannot recommend it strongly enough. You won't find a better case for the money or more imo

What about the body glove case? I was looking at that one for a hard case. What do you guys think about it? Anyone use it?

I have a body glove case and frankly it leaves alot to be desired. The case easily doubles the thickness of the phone, and with out fail turns out my jean pockets every time I use it. I'm not sure if i got a bad case or what but the case does not seal properly all the way around the phone. I have had the misfortune of dropping my case from table height (appx 3ft high) and the body glove case did protect the phone wonderfully. I have the full black and chrome case, not the clear back shell. I am in the process of deciding on a different case and thus far I am heavily leaning towards the case-mate tough case.

Mesh case. Love it... every other case makes a thin phone too large.

Hope that doesn't happen with the one I just ordered. But everything else you say about the case sounds great to me. I don't know how many times I have almost dropped the phone from it slipping out of my hands while pressing the volume or power buttons. Do the black Case-Mate cases have a rubberized feel to them?

My vote is for the bodyglove case. I have been through 4 cases and this far is my favorite. It protects gives the extra bulk and looks slick. It also has a kick stand which I use all the time.

Case Mate tough case for me. Silicone inside prevents scratches and tough plastic outside offers some protection from falls.

Here is a couple pics of the body glove in action. By the way it protects well I have dropped it a couple of times and the case comes apart instead of the phone breaking. I dont know how you wear your phone but I slide the phone in my pocket with the clip sticking out.

Got the TPU case, good fit, but feels cheap. Got the mesh case, looks decent but not much protection. Got tired of waiting for Otterbox. Almost got the CaseMate Toughcase but they only come in black or pink. Then I came across this last week. Check out the plugs and the buttons, even the back camera has clear cover over it. Liked the attention to details so pre-ordered it. According to the website, they're being shipped this Wednesday 11/17. Since I'm new, I can't post the link, here are some photos of the product. Just google Trident Cyclops Samsung Vibrant. Be sure to "Like" them on Facebook to save the $6.00 shipping. I wish ElementCase would make an ION3 or Liquid Carbon for Vibrant. I have a case that I bought from daydeal.com, its a hybrid case made from hard plastic on the back and soft tpu on the sides, it pretty good.

I got my silver case mate barely there and it is awesome. I guess it is more of a looks than protection thing, but the front of the case is over the bezel so when the phone is face down there's still a gap. The silver is really good looking. Case mate also sent it the day I ordered, and I got it from GA to CA in 3 days.

Are you sure it wasn't just a coincidence? The complaints were about the chrome, not the metallic silver. I haven't seen anything, and my phono widget says the signal is as strong as ever.

It's hard plastic with a rubbery feel. It's smooth enough to slide into my pocket and not pick up lint, but sticky enough that it can sit on my center armrest in the car without worrying about it sliding off.
There's also about a 1/16th inch high border around the screen that does a good job of keeping down any chance of a drop resulting in the screen touching anything the ground.

Figures!!! The upper left corner of the body glove case doesn't want to keep closed. I just sent an email to the seller for a refund. I'm thinking of just getting a extended battery with a rubberized back cover, and a new pouch to fit it.

Yea that's why I have the casemate now, hopefully you didn't order it on ebay there was this one seller that I bought it from and he would not repond to my messages about the case, also my bodyglove case won't stay closed at all anymore. I just think their quality control isn't all that great.
The tough case feels like abs plastic and is textured so it doesn't catch on pocket lining when you pull the phone out your pocket but it still feels good ib your hand and doesn't feel like its going to slout og your hands

I would go with the seidio if i had to pick between the two. I am a welder and the otterbox has absolutely no protection for the speaker or camera. I ordered the trident witch has screens to protect both the camera and the speaker...... I am on my 3rd speaker on my phone, it was poorly protected from the factory and collects anything magnetic really well. It also has more then a peel and stick protection for the screen.

Nice thread to start. I have been wondering the same thing myself. From what I've read, it seems like the soft plastic on the Otterbox is thinner than it used to be. It's similar to the Seidio in that their port covers are now prone to being easily ripped off. The older Otterbox covers seemed to rip off less frequently.
I hate my Seidio Rugged. It's falling apart. I've ordered a Cyclops and will probably try out the Ballistic when it's released.
The Ballistic seems like it will be the toughest case made for Evo, especially since the Kraken will probably not be made.

I have both and prefer the otterbox much more.

i just made this decision myself. Was deciding between the Otterbox Defender, Seidio Innocase Rugged with Holster, and the Ballistic HC (which should be released any day now). After much research and review, I decided on the Seidio, but actually going with the Best Buy version which is called the Platinum brand and its the Defense model. Same thing, but I can buy it tommorow and put it on my phone instead of ordering and having to wait. Plus, if something goes wrong, I can go back in the store and exchange it instead of having to ship it back.

The kickstand on the Defender is defective. Had mine for 3 days before it spontaneously crumbled. This is know issue and big problem.

My kickstand is just fine.

The kickstand on my Defender broke somehow while the case was in my pocket,hadn't even used it. The holster was an extremely sloppy fit,had to glue some felt pads in it so the phone wouldn't rattle around. Pulled the screen protector off as I was getting the oil spill effect on the screen. I guess you can fix that with baby powder but I don't need two protectors on the phone. After all this plus the 9 day debacle/wait to get the case shipped to me Otterbox waived all charges and freebied me the case. I'd have been POed to have paid more than $10-12 for it.
The Rugged case is ugly compared to the Defender but I think it offers more protection and the holster is much higher quality. The Exoskeleton at least on the earlier versions is the weak point as the corners break off. Seido's CS did approve my replacement request and shipped me a new case within 48 hrs and the skeleton is a slightly different design so I'll see if it holds up better.
I'm looking forward to the Ballistic case.

I also really like the Ballistic, and that was my first choice. I just dont like the way that the back of it looks in the new pics of it since its redesign...looked much better before...that and it IS gonna be big. It being so big didnt bother me at first, but now I'm rethinking it

Phone fits snug in mine, no slack at all. There are a few others with broken kickstands and others that are rough on them have no problem. I dont know what the issue is I dont believe they have any other revisions of the case out yet but if my kickstand does break you can bet your ass Im will be on the horn complaining about it, Not only did we have to wait more than a half of a year but as soon as it comes out there are a bunch of people having issues with it. I haven't had any issue and I got mine for free but this is suppose to be their toughest case that stands up to everything but water and people are reporting it doesnt even hold up to a pocket? Kinda crazy if you ask me but then again I am loving mine so far.

I went with Seidio, didn't know it came with the Innocase Surface too. That was a bonus, really liked my Surface on my Hero. Seems pretty durable I've pulled the case off my phone numerous times and no broken tabs. I really like the fact that the camera is completely covered. My only problem is the screen cover it came with has really bad glare, but that's not a big deal. All in all really pleased so far, I would definitely recommend it.

No glare on my otterbox screen (I did have to remove ther ZAGG protector) and the camera and led's are covered as well.

My Defender kinda sucked due to the faulty kickstand. I bought an Impact for $15 after discounts and I love it.
P.S. Otterbox promised me they would credit my card back within 2 days for the Defender. It has been a week and no credit so now I have to waste another half hour on hold to call and ***** about it. Pisses me off.

[Q] Otterbox Defender Series

Well I just ordered the Otterbox Defender Series for my EVO on amazon and I wanted to hear some some toughs. I know about the kickstand problem it has but that does not really bother me. I know the case is huge but that doesn't bother me either since the phone is huge by itself. So forum what are your thoughts on it?
How doe it feel? Does it really protect the phone? Any problems you have had?

I had one....the beltclip kept breaking...even though they replaced it for free it was rather annoying....so i bought a ballistic....had no issues yet

My honest thoughts? I'm sorry that you wasted $50. It is one of the worst quality cases that I have ever come across.

I liked the Otterbox.......dropped my phone from 4 feet onto my ceramic floor with no damage to the phone; though the holster and kickstand are horrible. But now I have the Ballistic HC.

I have 2 of them, one still in the box. I've never used either of them, I put one on my phone to see how it looked once and took it off and put my commuter back on. They do feel like they would protect the phone quite well but they just feel a bit cheaply made for the price they charge. For me, the commuter is the perfect case, I just wish they sold a holster/belt clip for it. I have heard the Sedio holster for the Active works with it, I just have a hard time paying $30 for just a holster.

It is, there's clear plastic (same material the screen protector is made of) over the camera lens and the LED flash

I have one and use it when im at work, I like it alot the camera lenses and flash are protected and the screen is protected at well. I had a similer case before with no screen protector but the rubber wore through and eventually the clip broke. The otterbox makes the phone considerably more bulky but I sincerely feel like I could drop kick the phone and it would be perfect so the bulk dosent really bother me. Its all about what you need the protection for everyones needs are different

Well from what you guys have said it seams like its an okay case but its horrible compared to the ballistic. I currently don't have a case on my phone so at least he otterbox will protect it. Now what are the problems with the holster and belt clip? Does the belt clip break easily or what?

I can't personally speak for this case, but I have the commuter case and love it. easy to pull the case on and off but protects it well from the drops and what not it encounters on a daily basis at work. I also can't speak for the ballistic either, but i'll take a look at it now that you guys have mentioned it

The case does live up to the defender series name, theres only 2 issues I have with the case, the kickstand will brake for sure no if's our but's, and the silicone layer has to be constantly adjusted specially after charging. I don't know of any issues with the holster, I just see people complaining on how bulky it is. But that is preference, I like the holster and it seems very well built.

I had one, def was not too impressed especially how the kickstand had cracks the day after i bought it. Then there were cracks all around the front screen protector. So, i did a warranty claim got a new one and sold it. Picked up a cyclops and very happy with it. I am switching up to the Kraken tho because at my work we get em for $20 so i figured why not. I haven't had personal experience with the Ballistics case yet but if the kraken fails me i may try it.

I've never owned the Defender case for the Evo, but I did have one on an iPhone 3gs. That was a solid case, but the way it was held into the holster wasn't very reassuring. From what I've seen, the Defender for the Evo seems to have a similar problem. It's just not very secure in the holster.
I DO however currently own a Ballistic case, and WOW is it ever solid. It's also VERY securely held in the holster. The biggest downside is that it's very squared off, very bulky, and a little awkward to hold. That's why I put it in the case at work, but take it back out when I'm at home most of the time.
Defender cases are quite a bit more ergonomic, but that doesn't matter for crap if it's gonna fall out of the holster, IMO.

i think the otter is better then the ballistic, the otter has thicker silcon

Like I said before I use mine at work only, I work for an ambulance company and my phone is subjected to some pretty intense probability for damage but I've had the defender on for like 4 weeks no problems at all and it hasn't fallen out of the holster once I did drop the phone about 5 feet into the snow and and it slid onto the pavement and the phone was totally uneffected I highly recommend the defender!

How many cases are there for the evo damnit, everyone i look at is just a flewzy piece of rubber.
I got the otterbox 1 which is a OKAY case but its too lose on the phone that it covers up the front camera sometimes, smh. and another white clear case..
I saw the Trident cases yesterday on this site and wondered how many more cases out there that i have never heard of.
What you guys prefer? I'm not one those people that going to waste 40$ on a case lol come on.

I got the HTC Hard Shell Case for HTC EVO™ 4G. It's at raidoshack for $18. Makes the phone feel soild and thick. Ive dropped it a few times and have not worried that any damage was inflicked to the phone. Check it out, at most radio shacks they'll let you take the case out and try it on your phone. It has holes for every port and button.

I have the Otterbox Commuter. No real complaints. The only con that I can complain about is that the rubber side of the case *drags/grips* while sliding it out of your pocket. It does add a bit of bulk, but it isn't clunky feeling.

Tell you the truth i don't mind bulky at all. It just half the cases i have tried are so loose it feels like it doesn't belong on my phone. i want something snug

I got the seidio innocase. it fits nice n snug. i work outside alot n dont ever worry about dropping it. when it does get dropped it doesnt get scratched or banged up.

My buddy that works at sprint has the exact same one and when he stopped using it i tried it on my phone and idk if he did something to it or it got worn out but the rubber on that thing got stretched to ****. i could of fit 2 evo's in that case.
And i'm rooted so there are times were i need to do a battery pull, feels like im going to need a map to get that thing off

Im rooted too and Ive had to pull the battery a few times, the case slides apart for easy access to the battery.

Otterbox defender series and it's super snug. Not sure what the differences are between the commuter series and defender

The commuter has an inner silicone/rubber case, then a hard plastic that goes over that.

dont remember what i paid, but got it for less than 15 $'s. some say it interferes with radio signal but i haven't had any problems. also, i dropped this several times and it did a great job protecting my evo. case is super easy to remove for battery pulls too.

I also have the Otter. I have the $35 one from Sprint. I guess there's a $50 one also. I love the 2 part case and mine fits like a glove. I think its designed wonderfully

I definitely need some recommendations on cases. I currently have a Sedio Innocase Active (blue). Its definitely taken a beating. And the soft (inner part of the case gets annoying, and is definitely showing some wear. What cases do you guys have on your phones? I need a new case ASAP! I dont really have much of a preference. Just as long as its durable, and looks good!!!

Im in love with my Ballistics case. Don't have to worry about dropping your baby, its protected VERY well. Seems a little bulky at first, but still fits in ur pocket nd youll get used to it.

If you want SERIOUS protection, the Ballistic HC is the only way to go. I ordered mine the day they released them and haven't even thought about using anything else since. Some people don't like how bulky it is, but nothing else even comes close to the level of protection you get with the Ballistic.

If you want SERIOUS protection, the Ballistic HC is the only way to go. I ordered mine the day they released them and haven't even thought about using anything else since. Some people don't like how bulky it is, but nothing else even comes close to the level of protection you get with the Ballistic.

i started having issues with my ballistic case a few months ago. The rubber border next to the power button became detached, and I received a replacement for the front that was a little different in design. The rubber on it started peeling as well and the proximity sensor doesn't pick up, so it is impossible for my screen to turn on while in a call (hitting the power button in a call doesn't work either)
I'm looking into an alternative, and possibly one to hold an extended battery case as well.

I use the Otter commuter case, modified to fit with my extended battery. Dropped it pretty hard twice on concrete, phone came out just fine. Only issue I have with the case is the cover for the HDMI and Micro usb ports. Doesn't stay closed.

I know you didn't ask about an extended battery, but I'm just going to put in my .02c for the trident case with the extended 2000MaH battery:

It has exchangable rubber bumpers that you can purchase separately, AND it has a built in screen protector. i've had mine for months now, dropped the device 2x and absolutely NO damage.
Wonderful case for the price and an extended battery that really didn't add that much thickness.

Otterbox Commuter = Awesome
I HIGHLY recommend the Otterbox Commuter series case. I've had it for almost a year now, and it is amazing. I've been pretty rough with my phone, but it has saved it from any sort of damage. It provides fantastic protection and feels solid and strong in my hands, but at the same time it doesn't make the phone seem bulky and has a great very smooth, sleek, thin feel to it. Definitely the best of both worlds in terms of balancing strong protection with sleek good looks.
Another thing I love about Otterbox is their amazing customer service and 1-year no-questions-asked warranty guarantee. I recently broke the case itself somehow (the phone stayed completely protected though) so I emailed their warranty services and told them, and they simply asked for my shipping address and sent me a new case in under a week! They didn't even ask for a copy of the receipt or pictures of the broken case. It was the fastest, easiest warranty claim I've ever had.
If you do go for an Otterbox, definitely buy it off eBay and not retail. You'll save yourself a good $20-25. It's about $12 new on eBay. I'd post a link, but I'm still a noob

Otterbox is definitely the way to go. I am unaware of what solutions they have available for extended batteries but it may be worth while to look into.

I too have to throw in a full reccomendation for the Otterbox Commuter.
Fits like a glove, and keeps the phone stylishly protected. It looks great, and has saved my phone from 4 drops I've made (one which I thought the case couldn't have saved it from, but nevertheless it did.)

I like the silicone ones. easy to deal with.

I have to agree with him. Also check out Incipio feather case. Best as far as having a slim phone with some protection.

Otterbox commuter is inmho the best if your hard on your phones, or you want extra protection.
But I switched to the casemate barely there about 4 months ago and its hands down, my favorite case. Ive dropped my evo a ton of times, and.its still doing just fine...

If you go for the Commuter (which I highly recommend; it offers great protection, but has great style, feels good in my hand, and doesn't add significant bulk), you should get it here on eBay. Save yourself $25.

I had the otterbox impact case. It is way too loose, doesnt fit snug on the phone. Over time gets even bigger almost a quarter inch too long vertically than the phone. Dissapointing.

If you really want protection I recomend the ballistic case. It's rugged and very durable. I got mine on Amazon for about 30 bucks after shipping
