this has nothing to do with it, it's the evo itself, when you play a video regardless of class, it is choppy in 720p, the best way to shoot is vga. sorry lol

Have the same problem and after readin 100's of posts about it it seems that there's a 50/50 chance that gettin a higher class SD card will work.... I have yet to try yet but if you do let me know.... It would be really nice if it worked right
And it doesnt matter if you "play" the video on the phone or not.. it has to do with the recording of the video, becuase it's choppy/laggy whether it's watched on the phone or on a desktop..... So it's not a problem with the EVO screen...

could you try this out

I got a 16Gb class 6 Kingston SD card and it didn't help - still lousy 720p results.

It's the standard one that came with the Desire, class 2. The video sometimes stutters when playing back on my Desire and i am wondering if it's to do with the class of SD card.
Nice animals indeed!
Do you have the original 3GP vid file you can upload somewhere?
Colours seem better than Eclair at 0 saturation. You needed +1 to get such colours with it.
There's a few YouTube issues on the HTC 2.2 OTA release mentioned by some, one being the vids pausing/stuttering at times but I haven't otherwise seen vids behaving as such through the SD. I play at least 1-3 hour vids daily on this phone albeit only a few at 8Mbps like the 720p recordings.

Kingston 16GB Class 10?Dude,you must be crazy! And luckily enough,I'm the same!I already have it and it's ****in' FAST!No stuttering etc and everything loads lightning fast!
And about that crazy part,I'm just kidding.Although 100 euros is a little too much for a memory card, but who cares?

That vid is quite excellent how it turned out. The source vid looks far better than that YouTube vid and you have area's of 50-83 FPS on there. The colours are very good.
Also, your vid is completely unplayable on my phone (due to the SD card) with endless stalls and stuttering. No such problem from the laptop or PC.

Thanks, I'm glad its not just me having playback issues from the SD Card. Thinking of going for a class 4 or possibly class 6 card to see if that improves performance. I wonder if part of the frame rate issues are down to the class of SD Card used.
BTW I've done another test video, this time indoors. Here's the YouTube video.

I use a class 4, it is fast enough for the Desire. I also have a class 6 in my DHD I notice no difference between the two.

no no your not understanding, becuase data rates are around 8 mbs (iv made three videos , one of snow falling one of playing cod6 on playstation and talking with a friend all are 8mbs -8.4 mbs, and fram rates in low light get to like 15fps) it seems that the bitrate is too high for sd cards and potentially for the qsd 8250 soc,

Class4 card should be able to write at 4MB/s or 32Mbps. Blame the ROM, not SD card.

GPU Needs to be Optimized for better H.264 Video Playback

When I had the Vibrant And Galaxy Tab. I had no issues with video playback up to 1080p h.264 mp4 or mkv on the tab and 720p on the vibrant. Movies were smooth like butter. They both used the 1 ghz single-core Hummingbird processor. with a Power VRX GPU. On The G2 we Have 2 coers at 1.5 ghz and a ****ty GPU. or at least not optimized. 406x720, 450x800 h.264 mp4 video is choppy on sd card and internal memory. We need to optimize this beast. Qual sucks. so far expect for data speeds but ping is high.

im a fan of mobo player. as for video playback, ive run all the formats through mobo, off my internal and external sd card. no problems yet.
and games have not been a problem yet either, was bustin up dead space without issue earlier.

I played dead space last night....absolutely no issues, gorgeous display of performance
I played 720 movie off of my internal with no problems.
I tried playing 1080 off my external and it was unwatchable....BUT my sd was/is a class 2 from my old htc mt3g soooo yeah expected XD
I dont see a class 6 or 10 having any issues, apparently there are.

then you need to get your phone replaced man. there were a few other videos on youtube of ppl having choppy video etc with their gs2. it shouldn't be like that. use the warranty. get it swapped out for a new one.

You don't need Chainfire to play Deadspace on the SGS2. just an FYi.

1080p recording file size?

Hey guys I'm preordering a note 2 from Verizon(I know) and have a 32Gb card from my old phone but I'm debating getting a 64Gb. What I want to know is how many Mb's per second I should expect to be eating up while recording 1080p? Also 720p would be handy to know.
Thanks.

Done it with stock camera.
720P around 12MB/10 sec ~ 1,2MB/sec
1080 around 21MB/10 sec ~ 2,1MB/sec

MKV playback from Micro-SD card.

I' ve been looking into a memory card for my Galaxy Note 2.
The 64gb one from SanDisk looks like a good one to get however I have a few questions about MKV playback.
Can anyone verify smooth playback of high bitrate files, say Avatar @1080p with a 20-30 meg bitrate?
The card states that it can handle 30MB/s but im not sure how it will cope.
Anyone had any experience with these kind of files?

You should have no issues. Bitrate and data transfer rate are completely different from each other by a factor of 8, because there are 8 bits to 1 byte. In other words, 30MB/s (megabytes) is 8 times more than 30mb/s (megabits). So, even a 1080p video running at a 30mb/s bitrate is still only going to be equivalent to a data transfer of 3.75MB/s.
