Hello All,
I would like to put a signed nexus one ROM on my Desire.
The Desire is a new SLCD one with the most recent stock HTC rom on it.
Just want to cut HTC out of the loop, so any eventual updates would be coming straight from Google.
Could you give me some advice on this?
The pfone was a branded one and an goldcard and RUU.exe was used to put the HTC rom on it.
Thanks in advance,

Hi everyone, I made a goldcard when I first had my desire to see how easy it was to do but I didn't flash my rom because there was no t-mobile rom availble. now I just replaced my desire for a new one due to screen issue (no it wasn't because of pink tint) can I use the goldcard I made b4 for this handset or any desire handset if I wish to flash the rom in the future? cheers in advance
I'm pretty sure you should be able to use it not only with another Desire device, but with any device really.
I used the one I had for my Hero, works no problem. A goldcard is a goldcard, basically.
thanks for the info
I might be able to get my hands on another Orange HTC Desire with the stock ROM and I want to dump that ROM for use on my HTC Desire if I ever have to return it. (I assumed that there would be an Orange RUU soon enough when I de-branded because of frustration at the bloatware. What a fool.)
So, How?
Okay so I know there's a plethora of stuff in forums about this but I have one quick question.
I had to swap my previous HTC DESIRE over because of a screen issue. My previous Desire had all the Telstra branding removed by my friend, however it was not 'rooted', I did not have that SuperUser app or anything, there was just no Bloatware from Telstra. I was still even able to update to Froyo wirelessly, through HTC updates.
All I want to know is how to do this because I'm pretty sure this isn't what you call rooting... I would go back to my friend to do it but he's currently in another country so I was hoping someone here could tell me exactly what it is he did/I have to do to get my phone back to that state.
It's like it was an outright HTC DESIRE with no branding, just as stock as they come. I'm not too interested in installing custom firmware or anything like that.
Hope this makes sense.
Paul.
well, theres this...

just chose the thing you want to do, and fallow the steps..
I know that i sound like a broken record but bare with me for a bit.
to get froyo up and running on my device do i first root my device using that one click website(cant find the link anymore, does anyone know the link?) and then download whatever rom and compatible radio and just install it on my desire?
do i need to first make my htc desire unlocked/sim free? my htc desire is sim locked to t mobile.
thanks in advance
any suggestions? thanks
IF you want to go to the official FroYo 2.2 ROM you just need to make a goldcard and flash the official RUU file
IF, however, you wanna go down the custom route then you'd be best using unrEVOked as it roots your phone in one go (was extremely easy actually)
ok nice one. i dont need a unlocked desire thoughh innit?
Hi. I recently bought I HTC Desire with froyo branded by Orange Spain.
The problem is that I can't find a way to root it, since it has already instaled froyo and the downgrading tutorials only work for unbranded phones.
Does anyone know any way I can get this phone rooted?
Try here. It is in post 3
Just use unrevoked.
There's plenty of threads discussing the process.
Be aware though, that there isn't currently any RUUs available for Orange so going back to completely Orange stock with no root can't be done.

Oh, and make sure you make a goldcard before you do anything.
This will help if you need to use a non-orange rom in the future.
