[Q] Wifi, Proxy and APN's on CM6 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm having some problems since the last nightlies and the stable versions of CM6.
I didn't post this msg earlier because I was thinking that this problem would be solved in the final release, but I was wrong.
I'm running CM6 now with Wifi turned on and I can't download anything from market and I can't browse the Internet.
I've checked my proxy settings and I see that there is a proxy address in the input filled in automatically.
When I clear then save it, it still doesn't works.
If I remove the APN (Mobistar), it works perfectly.
Am I the only one to have the problem ?
Before applying the stable rel., I wipe everything of course to start on a clean install.
I have a HTC Desire and a HTC magic 32A, both running cm6 stable with latest radio.
Thanks...

Data/apn issue in latest rom's for nordic users

I have now tried several of the latest roms and I cannot get data network/apn network on my phone. Seems something has been removed.
Wifi works great but not data.
For example it worked fine in defrost 2.3, but it does not work in 2.4d. What was changed? Also tried leedroid, opendesire and issue is the same.
This is a call out to all devs ... please fix as phone is pretty much useless without data/apn network.
I love your work on these rom, so i hope you can fix this also....thx
Update:
Using latest radio.
Tried manual APN settings from ISP.
Tried *#*#INFO#*#* and changing network type (WCDMA, GSM, auto etc.)
Tried every possible wipe.
My network is fine... I'm from Denmark, and i'm Ising CyanogenMod...

The Leedroid rom APN list has been fixed, but the uploaded zip was corrupted. Expect a new upload with working APN list when leedroid wakes up and discovers what has happened

Radio problem

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you can help me out.
This is the 2nd rom i flashed on my rooted desire. It is the Leedroid 2.2 f which is the previous build before his 2.3 build. My problem is that I cannot connect to T mobile edge, but my wifi, calls, and text work. I tried internet2.voicestream.com on the apn, with no luck. Is this problem related to my radio build?
Here is what I have:
Leedroid 2.2f app2sd+
latest radio: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.5.27

Might be your APN settings.
One method i always do when i am on leedroid (before i switch to eMIUI)
1. on the stock rooted rom do a titanium backup
2. install leedroid
3. restore via titanium, select the sms, calls APN settings (usually green in titanium mark as system settings)
So is it something that can be radio related? Or maybe a Rom problem? I'm not too familiar with what will happen if you install the wrong radio..so what symptoms may appear.
I used Edge on Tmobile because I am in the USA.
I normally go to settings and manually input under the APN: internet2.voicestream.com and it worked on a previous Leedroid build I used.
Your latest Radio is supported by leedroid, thats why i suggest Settings first.
On your working leedroid ROM, do a backup, titanium or backup pro.
Install the latest leedroid (others do full wipe before install)
Restore settings
Ok, the problem is solved now after a full wipe! Thanks for the help xavier.

This is a basic problem with LeeDroid Rom.
Although it's easy to set up APN of a particular carrier one time, but when you travel often, you don't expect to remember APN setting of different carriers in the world and set it up again. It should be automatic.
I my opinion, LeeDroid Rom is the best HTC Desire Rom ever created by any developer. It's fast, battery friendly and stable. It's even better than Oxygen, which many people won't agree me with. But the problem of APN settings messing is keeping me away from LeeDroid.

thats really sad for you my friend, because all you need to remember is the Access Point Name, nothing else, for example mine is general.t-mobile.uk, thats all i have to put in to get my data working, none of the other options.

Very big problem with my Desire and Wifi Connection

Hey guys,
im running a Desire with the newest Leedroid Rom. Everythings working perfect,
except the wifi network connection.
My Problem:
After i updated from branded 2.1 to 2.2 with OVA Update, i cant connect to any
encrypted wifi. I dont get an error or something, it just tries to get a ip adress
and then it says Connecting... and then it starts again from trying to get an
ip-adress and so on and so on...
The only thing thats working is to connect to an open wifi hotspot.
Things i tryed:
- Other Router, other settings, other decryption, other keys, and so on
It has to be a problem in updating process, cause with 2.1 it works and after i
update to 2.2 i cant connect to any wifi anymore.
I really need help cause i think this cant be a hardware problem, cause everything else is working.
Sry for my english, tried my best
nge89
Do a full wipe and flash leedroid again.
I have done full wipes like 100 times, also im always testing new roms,
so i was on modaco, leedroid, cyanogen and installed them many times.
So that cant be the problem
nge89
First how do you do a full wipe?
Second what is a OVA update? is it the same as OTA? And what does the update have to do with your wifi not working on leedorid? Did you OTA update form a rooted 2.1 rom?
Has wifi ever worked on 2.2? What radio are you using?
I do a full wipe with all 4 wipe options, dont know the exactly names.
Yeah sry, with OVA i mean the OTA.
No, i did a OTA Update from a branded unrooted 2.1 Desire to the branded 2.2 Froyo version. And wifi NEVER worked on any 2.2 version.
I just rooted my phone when i was on branded 2.2 version, cause i wanted to
try some of the nice roms.
In this time i never used wifi, only mobile network connection, cause i was long
time not at home and couldnt use any wifi, now im back here and trying to solve
my wifi problem.
Just checking my Radio version and i have 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2, but i dont
know why, thought i had installed a newer
Should i try the 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27?

Yes looks like 2.1 radio, try the newer but do not pull the battery during the update it will reboot twice and don't touch anything during the process. I take no responsibility for what happens and I suggest you do some searching on the radio flashing process. Also don't forget to check the md5 of the download.
Might sound a bit scary but if you follow the procedures and don't do anything stupid it should go well.
i encountered the same problem only i'm on 2.1 after downgrading from 2.2 and rom jumping. did a wipe and even tried to nand restore my original stock rom. is this a radio error?
the phone was working fine. this issue happened to me while i was trying to fix a battery drain problem, i did a dalvik + cache wipe and the battery was fixed but the wifi started doing this. my phone could still be on the 2.2 radio

Would be nice if you would post the radio version
was about to edit my post with the info, you beat me to it
Radio: 5.11.05.27
HBoot: 0.93.0001
Im now also on 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27. Still the same Problem.
That u can imagine how it looks like:
1. Wlan -> power on
2. Select my Wlan Acess Point
3. Type in my Wlan Key
4. Its says Wlan -> " The Connection is now being established"
5. Wlan -> "Authentication with "Wlan Accespoint name" "
6. Wlan -> " Not Connected"
7. Wlan -> "Scan..."
After this steps it repeats from step 4-7 again and again and nothing is happening.
nge89
Also tried with another keyboard, in another thread someone said it worked for him
with another keyboard. But not for me, still the same problem.
nge89
ok i fixed the problem and now Wifi works perfectly!
I downloaded the same version radio and flashed it again from AmonRA recovery and now the Wifi and mobile network work just fine.
I got the radio from this thread and it has the instructions on how to flash the radio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464
I just flashed the radio with clockworkmod and with install zip from sdcard. Is that wrong?
You had the same problem like me?
Nge89
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
no its not wrong, thats what i did only with AmonRA. yeah from your description i had the same problem. The wifi would detect my wireless network but would refuse to connect and kept giving me "unsuccessful" errors.
The problem is, that i dont get any error.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Some one any idea?
flashing the radio again didn't fix it?
Did you try to disable any protection (wep, wpa, wpa2) on your router and then connect? Also try to disable dhcp on your router and assign static IP adress to your HTC device. I had problems connecting to wifi but after I assign static IP everything is ok.
Yeah, i can connect with disabled security. With static ip and crypted wifi it
doesnt work, i cant connect.
nge89
Then your problem most probably lies in "shaking" between HTC and router. Did you try with basic 64 bit or 128 bit wep? In many cases shaking troubles occur when one device doesn't support encryption of another. For example I had troubles connecting my windows 7 because of ****ty drivers off my wireless card. I could only use wep. Also can you check that portable wi-fi hotspot in wi-fi hotspots is disabled? And try to add your wireless manually so when you enable wi fi it should connect you automaticly without having you to enter your password.

Gingerbread Data Connection issue

Hello everyone!
Since a few days I have a problem with Mobile Data Connection on ALL Gingerbread ROM's (Oxygen, CM7, GingerVillain, Redux), however a few days ago everything worked fine. I have also noticed that I don't have this problem with Froyo ROM's like RCMixHD
The browser doesn't work, whereas e-mail and The Market work... I always make a Data/Factory Wipe in Recovery before I flash a ROM. I have even tried different radios (currently on 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27), but the problem persists. Internet works fine on WiFi... on edge or hdspa/3g the browser won't work. I have checked the APN settings and it is setup up as it should be. The phone connects to network but somehow the browser is not getting any data.
I even unrooted my phone with an RUU (RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed) and data worked. Then I rooted with Unrevoked and flashed GingerVillain 1.8.... still no change. I have even formated my sd card!!!! I'm out of ideas... Maybe my provider is blocking Gingerbread from going on the internet (SiMobil). Dunno...
I hope that you will understand my problem. And thanks for any help

[Q] How to fix my not working WiFi ( Video showing a problem )

Hello, I'm new here to this and to the flashing stuff and rest.
I wanted to do some change to my buzz so I just flashed my 2.2.1 to 2.3.7 (CyanogenMod-7.1.0.1).
Everything was fine, flashed Gapps also.
The only thing is my wi-fi isn't working.
It can't even connect. It's like refreshing by 3 secs and doing that in a circle.
Link to video: youtube : watch?v=iFqWoqaX0fU
/// What I Did:
- Reflashed CyanogenMod twice.
- Reflashed my radio (the newest version anyway).
- Flashed 19.25 radio with CWM 2.5.0.7 still nothing.
/// Specs:
- Android 2.3.7
- CyanogenMod-7.1.0.1
- Radio 3.35.19.25
- HBOOt 6.01.1002
- S-OFF
Did everything today and WiFi was working in the morning perfectly (on 2.2.1)
If you know a solution write it down step by step, im new to this.
Recheck your wifi password.. Authenticating is failing by the looks of it.
WiFI password
Nope, wifi password is good.
It even seems to like even refusing to scanning if u can see.
All I can see is that it scans your wifi and you enter the password which it fails to authenticate. It tries a couple of times and then disables it. If the password is correct, it should atleast try getting an ip.
Try using static ip and see if it helps..
WiFI
The password is not bad checked like 10 times. Static IP doesnt help neither.
And If u look scanning and everything also fails. It scanns and disconnects and fails ...
And I said that that morning WiFi was working perfectly on 2.2.1
Have you tried removing the password? (Just to test if it really is the password)
WiFi
Yes I Did.
try the latest cyanogenmod stable, 7.2.0
CM
There is no 7.2 stable...
There is.
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=buzz
7.2 version
Installed 7.2 version
formatted system wiped data / cache and factory reset
still the same thing happens
Try using someone else's wifi and see if that works..
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA
try with different radio, for my wildfire work only (Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10)
Radios
Tried the 3 versions of radio. Still didnt help.
