[Q] Help! Nandroid Restore problems, clockworkmod, Pays-Rom - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using Pays-Rom v 1.9 but since 2.0 is out now i've been trying to upgrade. I made a number of android backups dating from 23/08/2010 up to today. I've successfully flashed the updated ROM but I was getting a google talk authentication error so I tried to revert to my most recent backup (yesterday - 27th). However once clockworkmod said it had been restored, my phone wouldn't boot past the white screen with the HTC logo.
Here's the thing, I tried an older backup from the 23rd and that worked so I was using it since yesterday as I thought I'd leave sorting out the update until today. But now when I flash the new rom it bootloops at Pays-Rom boot screen, and if I restore any nandroid backup later than the 23rd it doesn't boot past HTC logo.
I can always go back to the nandroid backup from the 23rd but I would like to update the ROM. Any Ideas why this is happening?
N.b. I've wiped data before every flash, and I've flashed w/o sim card everytime (this is what I did the very first time I rooted last week, I heard orange simlocks if you don't)
I'm considering trying a different ROM but idk so

This is purely a guess, but your SD card me be corrupt and that is causing the nandroid restore to become corrupted too. I'd try a new rom and repartition the card.

yeah I've tried other ROMs and they install fine so I think I'll just switch. Does anyone know the most efficient way to backup and restore all apps, sms, and contacts?
I've been using Titanium which is good but I've been having problems with it backing up my sms data, also I have to manually accept every app to install

[Q] Constant reboots after ROM flash

Hey, guys!
I am in a desperate need of help. Here's my situation:
I've got an HTC Desire (obviously), which reboots every time the ROM starts. It all began after I decided to move back to a Sense ROM after having been testing ICS for the past couple of weeks. So, I flashed RCmix S - a ROM I knew to be stable and working snappily on my phone. Everything went well, I restored my apps with Titanium and then decided to remove some of the junk stock apps. When this was done, I restarted the phone, only to be faced with a series of reboots every time I got glimpse of the Sense UI (i.e. seconds after unlocking the SIM card).
I thought this might be a ROM-related issue, so I tried another one - Supernova. Same thing. Tried flashing it several times after full wipe always. No luck.
During the whole process I switched HBOOTs a few times - from stock, to Fatsys (IN2SD), back to stock. Tried several recoveries (AmonRA, 4Ext touch).
Even flashed official RUUs at least 3 times in order to get the phone back to its factory state. Once the stock ROM worked fine. Then I went on to root it and tried flashing one of the customs ROMs again, which, predictably, began rebooting just after SIM unlock.
I thought this might be connected to problems with the SD card, so I reformatted it completely - 6,8 GB FAT32 + 1 GB Ext4, using GParted. All by the book.
No I've got a clean SD (removed all the previous folders), but it doesn't seem to solve the problems.
Can anyone, please, think of something that I could do in order to get my phone back?
P.S. I forgot to mention, that my phone is S-Off. It struck me as strange, though, that it stayed S-Off even after flashing the RUUs.
New development: this morning, after successfully creating a Gold Card, I went on to try and flash a 2.2 RUU again. This time, however, the installer announced it was unable to access certain files and thus the flash process had failed. Meanwhile, the phone itself displayed a triangle and an exclamation mark on the 4 corners of the screen. I no long can access Recovery or the Bootloader. Help me, please!
Never mind, I managed it myself.

[Q] CM10 alpha 4.4 Nandroid backup fail

I tried to back up with the tar option within clockworkmod, but the phone reboots during the back up process. Anyone else seeing this?
I nandroided a backup set as well. The one I performed yesterday actually reads with a time/date of 0:00:00 on 1/1/0000 and is unusable; phone resets when attempting the restore. A backup made on 8/24 is fine.
So could just be something w/ the rom, or with the rom + JB. Which JB are you running?
I'm on PhantomPhreak53's latest alpha (4.4). I didn't have issues with any of the previous versions. It was strange I tried creating a backup yesterday (8/28) it created a folder that was dated (8/29).
Hmm, odd.. the date on my restore was really odd in that it showed 0000. It actually did give me a partial image, but not complete.
I don't recall which build I'm on, version shows 20-20120822 unofficial d 710.
Will be nice when this is complete and great and not having a) the airplane mode issue, b) volume / voicemail issue, and c) horrid battery life. Yeah yeah, I know roms aren't necessarily responsible for battery life, but I figure if its sitting doing nothing for an hour, it shouldn't drop 15% of my battery.
I just tried backing it and rebooted while backing up data. The folder has the right date now (2012-08-29.19.40.57), but still incomplete.
I just want to back up, restore my GB room to update prl and profile. I just updated my modem to FH23, hoping it'll cure my slow 4G speed. right now 4G is benching slower than 3G.
Hmm, this may be a lame work around, but try this.
install AppBak, create a 'backup' of your apps (it's just a list of them with an easy way to reinstall one by one)
remove everything you can that is a regular installed app, then try running your nandroid backup.
I ended up flashing 4.3 and create a backup successfully. I updated prl/profile then restored back 4.3. Then updated to 4.4. I didn't make any difference in my 4G speed though.
Good it worked out.
I'm still working on trying to figure out how to restore back to an CM with ICS, so I can triangleaway and update to JB again. Ugh.
They posted that this is a known issue with the backup/restore through recovery best bet is to mobile Odin back to el26 do a backup then Odin restore the stock kernel for cm10 then restart should work

Nandroid Restore Issue

Major issue running along the lines of a few other threads I've been reading on here. I'm currently with 3 in the UK.
Phone has been working great for almost 2 years, decided to install one of the custom ROM's with KitKat 4.4.2, I was previously running 4.3. At around 8-8.30 am yesterday morning my signal suddenly disappeared. I rebooted, took out battey and sim card, left it off for a few hours but no joy, noticed I had a generic IMEI number. Managed to restore a nandroid backup I had from last year and all was well again, it was a custom rom v 4.1.2 so I tried again to update to KK 4.4.2 but same issue, no signal with generic IMEI. I then tried a different nandroid backup I had but somehow this completely scrubbed my phone. When I eventually got it up and running it was back to stock and all my folders etc have been wiped. I do have a nandroid backup on my PC and I copied it to the root of my phone but when I try and do a restore it says no files found, reading elsewhere and going off the top of my head it says it has to go to /Data/Media/Clockworkmod but I don't have a Data folder, is there anyway to get this nandroid to work?
TIA

The data folder is on the ROOT of your sd card. Not in the normal storage location. The location you posted is correct but you missed one more directory. It is /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/

Samsung Galaxy S3 Sprint - Problems restoring stock rom Backup (TWRP)

Phone was originally bone stock, I then rooted & installed TWRP recovery, booted into TWRP and did the Backup option and saved it to SD Card, I then flashed CM 12.1 and used it for a little over a month, trying the various Nightly updates.
I decided to go back to the stock rom I had backed up previously, It restores successfully but when I boot the phone everything is crashing once it hits the home screen, "Unfortunately xxxx has stopped" is seen over and over, I can't load anything, even the settings menu crashes.
I then tried rebooting into TWRP and did Factory reset but when I do this It wont ever get past the Samsung logo on reboot.
Not sure what went wrong with the backup or if Im missing a step? I also tried enabling the verify MD5 check option for the Backup and it says everything is fine.
For now I'm back in CM 12.1, Any ideas appreciated!

HTC One M8 Memory/Nand Corruption?

Had this M8 for a few months now after bringing it back from a bad software install by another user (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/m8-qhsusbbulk-rebooting-t3437240), was on a stock rom up until 2 weeks ago (restored from a nandroid backup provided by user on xda) until all apps seemed to force close constantly, I also could not connect to any mobile network, kept complaining of no sim card, no imei and unknown baseband. Tried a reset and a restore from the nandroid backup, neither of these worked, the phone would turn on and would get to the HTC boot screen then black screen continually, no amount of restore or reset fixed it, I also formatted and repaired the file system a few times, again made no difference.
Ended up going on to a custom rom which has worked for about 2 weeks up until today, again being presented with force closes in apps and the mobile network again will not work, complains of no sim card as before.
I'm thinking the nand (where the actual system and data partitions are) is basically dying and is not working correctly, anyone experienced similar?
Reflash of firmware via fastboot oem rebootRUU and another restore of a stock rom via twrp has fixed it once again, still clueless on why this randomly continues to happen
