[Q] Mobile Broadband Connect didn't work in froyo cook-roms? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

it works when i use RUU to upgrade my Dinc, found "HTC USB MODEM" in my Win7X64,and working very well.
but after I flash any cook-roms w/sense,like rmk40's and wakeboard143 's roms based on 8/26 leak.
"HTC USB MODEM" can not be found anymore.
what's wrong?this problem seems like happens since first leak froyo rom.

Maybe its something with the boot.img. I normally would reccommend my rom, but it uses the same boot.img as rmk's.
It has to be kernel related.

try to replace boot.img with the one in RUU,wipe, reflash, but still no usb modem found,i got confused.

Problem solved! it's fixed when convert update-script to updater-script!

I'm having the same issue. How did you get it to work?
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

i don't know the exact reason,i just cook my own froyo rom with modified updater-script and update-binary base on Skyraider's rom, then it works.
if with update-script generated by dsixda Android Kitchen, problem comes.

[Theme] NexTheme Port fastludeh22's OTA de-odex'd stock rom

This is a port of one of the best theme ever made for android devices called NexTheme by manup456, all credit goes to him! I wanted to run this theme on fastludeh22's OTA de-odex'd stock rom found HERE which is what I'm running. This is a full rom flash as there isn't a template for this rom out yet. A wipe shouldn't be required if coming from the same rom, for all others I recommend a full wipe and as usual if something goes wrong I didn't force you to flash it.
Download rom/theme
Download kernel from link above
Put both on sdcard
Boot into recovery
Do a backup
Flash Rom/Theme
Flash Kernel
Reboot and enjoy!
IF YOU AREN'T RUNNING OTA DE-ODEX'D VERSION DO NOT FLASH!!!!!!
DOWNLOAD
Nice to see that wonderful yet simple rom get more support. At least until the kinks are worked out of CM Will try it out later today... Thanks!
I got really excited til I seen it wasn't for cm..lol ....thanks for the port of this tho seriously the best theme ever
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yeah i got excited myself till i realized it wasn't compatible with CM =\
Sheesh! Come on guys.... we have a theme or two for CM. We really needed one for stock ota. When CM gets out of RC... expect much more stuff for it and then stock will become less and less used. Stability is nice to have.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH This is the one I've been waiting for. THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
Gahhhhh! Been trying for like 30 minutes and I can't get the darned 4 letter captcha. It won't come up. Anyone else having this problem from the phone?

I will try my best to release it for cm as well I just prefer running a stock rom and customizing it myself that's why I did the stock rom first. Will try and get it out asap.
One thing is missing though... the intergraded froyo tethering.
wifi doesn't work either...

Works just fine, I just flashed. You have to pick a kernel and flash that over the ROM. I used CM bacon bits.

Do you mean flashing bacon bits after the theme is installed? Wifi not working for me either. Was working when I first ran the stock de-odex'd rom but stopped after I installed the theme.

Just reflash your previous kernel. Most of them contain correct .ko files to get wifi going again.
Didn't know had to reflash kernal. Working great now. Thanks.

Updated first post with flashing instructions, sorry should have been more clear about flashing everything.
Reflashed bacon bits and wifi now works..Thanks..But now the tethering is gone. Any chance that could be fixed in the future? I do use it every now and then

Yeah, native tethering seems to disappear on every OTA stock theme I have used or made. not sure why or how it happens. I haven't figured it out but the problem is in the services.jar. Just download wifi tether and wired tether which work perfectly until a fix is found...
Loving this theme, thanks for the work porting it over. It's running fantastic. One request however, if you ever update it, when scrolling through my contacts by letter (dragging the bar on the right) the popup that is supposed to show the letter, is black on black. Let me know if you don't know what I mean, I'll try to explain it more clearly.

[Q] crt shutdown animation for 2.3!!!!!

Anyone have a .zip file to enable that to any 2.3 Rom please need help????!!!
Thanks!!!!
It isnt something you can just flash. Its built into 2.3. If your rom doesnt have it, then maybe its not 2.3.
It's the Rom[5.22.11] eVoLVeD RoM SHiFTeD
RC oNe "aLieNiZeD" the android version is 2.3
Then you should post this in the thread for that rom.
I also did that just thought someone had a universal 2.3 zip I would really appreciate the help
Again, there is no flashable "universal" zip for that effect. It's built into every gingerbread rom. If your rom doesnt have it, then the dev took it out for some reason, and only he can put it back for you.
The sense gingerbread roms don't have it because it didn't come with the leaked 2.3
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a universal flashable zip. So unless you want to go with a CM or AOSP rom, you're basically out of luck for the moment.
To Clarify: it is most definitely not in every gingerbread rom by default.
Screen Off and Lock by Katecca
app that's free on the market and has that effect. think it's labeled "old tv", but there some other cool ones as well. Hope that's what you're looking for...

Edit /system/customize/cdi/default.xml Should see something like this:
<BootConfiguration> <BootAnimaztion animation="/system/customize/resource//spc_bootanimation.zip" audio="" /> </BootConfiguration
Just need to add the location of the mp3 you want to use where it says : audio=""
Make sure to keep the " before and after .

[Q] hwo to port rom/dev?

ok so i extracted a rom from a ruu, but now where do i start?
what do i need to extract from the rom.zip? i know i need system.img but what else?
Which RUU did you extract the ROM package from? Is it from the Evo 4G RUU, or are you porting from a different device's RUU?
Might I suggest downloading a stock updated ROM and look how /system is set up? The most basic folders of a ROM would be /system and /METAINF (this contains the scripts for the ROM to be flashed and .apk to be installed).
Are you planning to theme? Do you have ADB set up (Java installed beforehand)? I would suggest looking for PapaSmurf's Everything Android thread and downloading the tools there.

Ah, ICS Sense. We currently don't have a kernel that will even let the phone boot. We are missing valuable libs and drivers, and the fact that the Evo is EOL'ed doesn't help, so we won't be getting updated packages. It would be nice if HTC dropped kernel source for ICS, but alas, they have not.

If you would like to continue, I can look for some links to decompile the images.
While it is not impossible to port, it would be very difficult. Some drivers might have to be written, considering Sense 4.0 uses ImageSense or some nonsense like that. An ICS kernel source drop would definitely help, especially for the lowest-end One-series phone.

The Primo doesn't have Sense 4.0; it has 3.6. It's got a single-core, 1GHz CPU with WVGA resolution, and the ROM size is only around 300MB. I think this IS the lowest end ICS One series phone, but it'll definitely be a while before the source drops.

[REQ] can anyone port this wp7 rom to wildfire

[ROM][kernel]new hboot sense 4.0.3

First off let me say, I am not responsible for any damage this may cause to your phone you are flashing at YOUR OWN RISK.
that being said, this is a cooked ROM of the newest hboot on Virgin Mobile, it includes a kernel that you will need to fast boot flash.
features
deodexed
zip aligned
includes all sense 4 skins from HTC hub.
includes root browser free and go backup.
I may update this ROM if I feel the need, of course it would only be to add widgets and HTC apps from my old wildfire s that can't be found here.
only use if you are stuck on the newest hboot, my sister and I have both tested it and she's been using it for the past month.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
I had trouble uploading the complete but I have added a kernel download that should boot any sense backup or rom based on stock. remember to flash at your own risk.
if you wanna report bugs or anything feel free.

demi_fiend.... I'm not sure if this information is worth posting a new thread so I'm posting it here.
I personally am on the updated hboot1.57 and radio .0928.
I have also personally tested all Sense ROMs in the CDMA thread with the OTA hboot and radio.
This is my conclusion.
THEY ALL WORK!!!.
All you have to do is keep the original ( stock ) kernel. DO NOT FASTBOOT FLASH..... Everything works except WiFi.
Here's how to fix that. Make a copy of the WiFi modules in your stock ROM. You can find them in /system/lib/modules.
Save the copy some where on your sdcard. Now pick the SENCE ROM of your liking and flash it in recovery. Boot the ROM and install a root explorer of your choice. Now open the root explorer, find the modules and copy them, carry them to /system/lib/modules and paste. Now refresh the page where you paysted them and set the permissions to rw-r-r- on all 4 the modules that you pasted and reboot.
Now every thing in the SENSE ROM that you flashed should work just like it would on the old radio
Only thing that you can't do is over clock
Because of the stock kernel.
Hopefully this helps the guys/girls now on the OTA updated hboot and radio

Simon posted a kernel in this thread that supports the new hboot+radio and I assume/hope also would support overclocking. The one he posted is for AOSP-based ROMs, but I have updated it per his instructions so that it should work with Sense-based ones. Only thing I am unsure of at the moment is what modules would be needed (stock ones from the RUU or the ones from the old Sick v0.6 file). If I can find that out I can upload a zip that would have the updated kernel and flash the modules in recovery.
I'm sure you would need modules from the OTA stock ROM . Not the ones from the older radio.
There is no RUU for the OTA hboot/radio.
I have the modules if you would like a copy

Well here's the updated boot.img if you wanna give it a shot. It is currently untested so I would highly recommend having a backup of a known working one on standby.

Well that sucks. Now I wonder if there's a difference in the RAMDISK used? I used the one from boot.img in the FOTA with the new hboot, but I wonder if I use the one from Simon's v0.6 it would yield a different result.

Ok got a new attempt. I am not sure if all 4 of the module files are needed or just the 1 that I have. I included the module inside the kernel ramdisk so you might (hopefully) not need to copy the modules. However, in case you do, I have the module attached in a flashable zip. Let me know your results and if you had to copy any (or all) of the modules.
Got them........ Will test today....there is a big difference in size. The stock OTA boot img is 4.0mb and the one downloaded is 2.9mb..... Don't know if it makes a difference. But I will try once I get to a computer @ work
