Keyboard glide protector came off - what to do?

Hi all,
Just day ago baught TP2 and it's great. but today got in problem.
there are invisible glide protectors on side of keyboard, and from one side this protector came off - and now every time I open it, it's more and more coming off.
so what you think? is it possible to get new them somewhere? or it's sefe just to remove them? all of you have the same at their phones?

That is the normal protectors installed from factory, during manufacturing for product quality reasons. I admit that they really protect the plastic from getting scratched. But as mentioned in the manual, you should remove it from the phone itself (both glide stickers, the upper sticker in the keyboard, near the hidges, the back screen cover sticker and the front sticker protecting the screen). To substitute, I must say that problably you should cut some plastic clear sticker (same used to protect book covers) with the size and format of the sticker removed and attached in the glide sections to protect it from scratches of opening and closing the keyboard.

and yes, I saw that those protectors had scratches, they were noticeable - but with time they will become more and more visible (more scratches, dirt around them e.t.c) + I don't think I can cut them so accurate as they were...
so all owners of T2? did you remove these protectors? did you got there scratches after removing them?

At the moment I have all the protectors, because I'm waiting for my Screen Protector from Proporta. The others in the keyboard I will keep, mainly because I bought a phone with the keyboard but I only use the screen one, not the physical one (so If I had open the keyboard 10 times since I had the phone was too much).

If it is a clear sticker than obviously you remove it once it wears out and live with it....

yep, I got it. but hope to hear from other owners who already removed them, what experince they got - any scratches or nope?

Mine is sliding off on the left side only. I was just going to slice off the part that is crinkling up and keep the rest of it on. I don't want to find out if it will get scratched or not.

I removed the ones on the sides as i knew they were merely their from the factory and not actually their to protect during use. I dont have any scratches on the keyboard.
The back one, under the middle of the screen i havent removed because it looks like it would be too much of a pain to try. So im just waiting till it starts to come off on its own.

if you're concerned about being able to cut them as precise as the originals just use an exacto knife. Just put the plastic piece over the plastic you will use to replace it and trace it with the knife.

i just cut off the tips on both sides as it was crinkling up, kept the rest of it

just rip it off and live with it dude... I took the film cover off of my Xperia and nothing happened to my keys. If you are worried about the glossy back scratching than you obviously have too little things to worry about.
And if you are that person than obviously you can afford a second one because taking it off won't damage any phone.

well if really, I don't worry about back side scratches and about other minor things all I see now it's two stickers what are located on the left and right sides from the keyboard (i don't see so space in xperia), this space is used for gliding - so every time you are opening keyboard, two small stands from the back of the screen sliding in this area, where these stickers are - and after two days of using this device - this stickers are pretty scratched. so I decided to ask, if it's safely to remove or it's they needed to be replaced and seems like I'll finish by removing them both.
but anyway other owners experience is welcome

Just like I said........ the back side get's scratched....
unless you are talking about the sticker that is most likely found on the bottom half (the half that is on the same plane as the keyboard).
If so, then I hope it only scratches everything but the qwerty keys.

I took it off within a couple days, cause thats when i noticed they were even there lol. Its hard to say how often i open it. I generally text with the keyboard all the time (vs using the on screen one). Some days ill send 4 or 5 text messages, some i wont send any.
I dont think any of us has really had it long enough to even accumulate scratches from simple wear and tear. What you have to realize is that plastic film, is the same kind they wrap EVERYTHING up with. It was on my 46" LCD (the frame i mean) as well as both of my 19" monitors (also the frames). They wrap electronics up in that crap to keep it from getting scratched during manufacturing and shipping, but it rarly ever looks good left on.
My point? it isnt meant for long term protection. Just rip it off and run with it. The plastic housing is the same material/texture as what they use on laptops (least on mine) so it will take the wear and tear. I suspect over time it will develop 'slide' marks on it, but it wont take anything away from the device itself.

I'am sure that we are talking about the same things but anyway I attached photo to this post, with marked RED scratches on the sticker, and marked in BLUE came off part of this sticker.
all my previous HTC phones herlad and wizard had special sliders - where the display glides, here it glides on the viewable area and it don't seems really very scratch resistance, so it's confused me.

the protector at the middle top of the keyboard, and the one behind the screen
i wonder whether sliding is affected by the 2 protectors?

I had 4 protectors: screen protector, behind screen one, and two at keyboard - on it's sides (on of them you can see on my photo), so while gliding only these 2 protectors are affected.

i removed the small one at the middle top of the keyboard
now the sliding is smoother!
i am left with the one behind the screen... should i remove..?

ok... i removed the one at the back
and now the sliding action is super smooth

Sliding Causes Scratches?

Hey guys. I have the Telus HTC Touch Pro2, and I have noticed a problem. The part where the touch screen half of the phone makes contact with the keyboard part, causes a scratch on the keyboard part. There was plastic on this part before, but I removed it, and now it is scratching. I don't mind this, but just wanted to warn ppl not to remove the plastic.
I will post pics tomorrow.

I had a little piece of plastic just on the right side of the keyboard. I removed this, because I tought I missed it with unpacking my TP2. But now there is a little woggle(? mean little space between screen and keyboard), so everytime I press the screen on that side of the device I can feel and hear the two parts coming together. It's really annoing and it started when I removed the little piece of plastic. For my feeling it's a last fast hot fix by HTC.
But i don't see scratshes yet. I can see dirt on the left and right of the keyboard where the sliding is, but I can easily remove this. But on the longer term, I think there will be permanent 'dirt' aka scratches on both sites....but hey, when you don't want this to happen, put your device away and don't use it

Scratches fix.
As soon as i opened my TP2, i knew the clear plastics were for protection so i left them. In time the one on the right started to peel itself off. THE FIX... I removed it completely and colored it BLACK with a Sharpie Marker, pulled out some transparent scotch tape out of my drawer and carefully traced/cut it out with a sharp razorblade. Carefully stuck it back on and VOILA! A perfectly new replacement a-la' Jerry Rig! Maybe you can cut out 2 pieces ontop of one another to reduce the play when closed? Time = Approx. 10mins.

Hey guys. Yea I just wanted to leave this as a warning to other tp2 owners who thought the plastic was just packaging.
I can't take any pictures since the only other camera is a phone. It dosen't capture the scratches properly.

I left the stickers on. However, as it turned out later, one of the stickers wasn't applied properly. Eventually, the sliding motion caused that sticker to come off and bend just a little at one corner. I cut the bent part off, and the whole thing came of a few days later.
When you get your phone, make sure those stickers are applied properly, and squeeze out air bubble from underneath if needed.

What you will need:
**A razor or an exacto knife (or a thin sewing needle or safety pin if you're a Nancy)
**Clean hands (wash that damn cheeto grease off your hands, tard!)
**Clean Evo (easy way to clean it is one tiny windex/all purpose cleaner shot to the middle of the screen. Don't even spray, just make it dribble 4-5 drops. try it on your counter before you try it on your PRECIOUS, precious.)
**A plate, saucer, or the top to a plastic container.
**No alcohol or perception altering substance in you (this is not rocket science, but you have to stay sharp to successfully complete this mission!)
**A small amount of dish soap, hand soap or detergent.
**A cup of water.
**Time. You will not get great results if you do everything at once. You can probably get away with doing this in three parts, but I'd recommend four. You'll see why later. You should also do this when you feel you won't need to make or take a call or use your phone. This will take a couple of hours.
**Optional - a cutting board and florescent lighting (it's harder to see the shapes in "yellow" light)
Part 1 (The back):
** We will start with the back. The good thing about the back cover is that there is less unnecessary protector to fight with. Clean your hands and your Evo.
**pour about as much as water you could imagine the cupped palm of your hand could hold 3-4 times on your saucer.
**Squirt about 6 drops of dish liquid into the water stir it with your finger, then dry your finger.
**Place the Evo face down on a flat surface.
**Take the back protector. Place that on a flat surface. Pick one of the three holes at the top (speaker, camera or flash) and hold it down with the tip of your blade near the top of that hole. you don't need to cut anything. with your other hand peel the protector from the top slowly.
**There will be some resistance, and it will feel like you might tear your protector but if you pull slowly, the circle should stay there.
**Put the protector back and repeat with the other circles.
**You should now have your protector halfway peeled, and the 3 circles attached to the paper, or at least not attached to the protector.
**There are two ovals on the bottom half. You will need to place your blade between the oval for the kickstand, and the protector. Your blade needs to be in that outer oval that surrounds the kickstand.
**Peel the remaining half of the protector off. Be careful not to damage the material for the kick stand.
**You should now have the back protector (minus the kickstand) off. If you got a fingerprint or two on it, it's ok, but try not to touch anything besides the corner.
**While holding a corner of the protector (with the hand you don't write with) dip it in your soap water mix sticky side down. Hold up the protector. There should be some excess water at the bottom. The corner where your fingers are should be dry, so hold the protector with your writing hand, use the excess water to wet the dry spot, and slide the protector on the plate to remove any other excess. there should just be a film of water, not any water about to drip off.
**Note --- if you have to stop at any point with protector that's already peeled, place it halfway on/halfway off your plate so you don't lose it.
**Place your protector on the back part of the Evo. For best results, you should touch the the Evo with opposite bottom corner of the protector and slowly place the rest on. (if you're holding the protector in your right hand on the right corner of the protector, lay it on the Evo bottom left first.) You will have a couple of minutes to adjust it, so take your time. If you did this correctly, you should have no air bubbles, but if you do, gently smooth them out.
**Once the back is secure, you can start on the kickstand.
**The kickstand may be a little harder to remove. if there is a spot where you can gently slip your blade in to start peeling it off the paper, go for it. Hold the blade down on the part you don't need like you did before to pull the kickstand off. If not, you will need that cutting board or something underneath the paper that you don't mind having a razor cut on.
**Using the blade, touch one of the straight edges of the oval. Turn your blade so that if you were to make a cut, it would start at that edge, but end AWAY from the oval, not into it. Make your cut. You only need a tiny cut, just enough to slide your blade underneath so you can peel like I described one step ago. If you are using a needle, poke a hole on the outside of the edge as close as you can.
**Once the kickstand is peeled, wet it and place it. it is not a perfect fit. Place it an equal distance from all sides or however you'd like, and you are good to go.
**Now you will need to leave your phone alone for at least an hour. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PHONE FOR AN HOUR, NIMROD. Don't go celebrating with a drink, either.
Part 2 (Front):
Ok, on to the front.
**Using your blade (or your needle), touch one of the long edges of the front protector and poke or cut like I described before. Make sure you are slow and careful. You do not want to cut into your side protector pieces.
**Wiggle your blade in and pry the front up like before.
**Dip and place your protector like before (slowly, opposite end first).
**This time, you will need to wait at least an hour and a half to two hours. The material on the front is different, and it takes longer to stick.
Part 3-4 (Sides):
Last up is the sides, the hardest part. If you notice the picture above, it has all the side pieces except for one. if you look at your actual paper, the missing piece is above the rest of them. you will put this piece on last.
First I will tell you where the pieces go, then I'll let you know how to put them on.
*Top piece - It will start from the edge of the power button, and slightly wrap around the the left side of the phone (if the screen is facing you).
*Top left side piece - it will continue where the top piece left off, covering most of the left side of the phone.
*Bottom left side piece - as the name suggests, it will continue from the last piece and stop at the USB icon.
*Right piece - the skinny part will start at the HDMI logo, and come up most of the right side of the phone, stopping short of the volume button.
*Mystery piece - it goes on the right top corner between the volume and power button.
Part 3 (Left Side):
**Remove, dip and place the top piece. You will place it on the phone in the same direction you peeled it off the phone, or the same way it shows in the picture above. My method of getting these suckers on right was this. Whether you are right handed or left handed, place the piece on the top. It doesn't need to wrap around yet, just make sure it's on there. Grab the bottom half phone with your right hand with the screen facing your palm. Look at the piece you put on. Gently adjust it with your left thumb. Once it is in place, you'll need to put the phone down, screen side up, but the top of the phone facing you. Cover the phone with your left hand and firmly place your thumb on the top piece, but be careful not to move it. Use your right thumb to smooth it around the corner.
**Note - if any of your pieces dry out, just put more soapy water on it. Just don't let it dry out too many times.
**Now you will notice the piece doesn't want to go on straight, and a air bubble will form at the corner. To fix that, first take your left thumb off the phone and make sure the top part is still in place. If it is not, adjust it. Place your thumb there again and gently smooth the bubble at the corner out first with your right thumb. It may try to come back, but smooth it out gently, the same way you gently wiped away the tear of a pansy iphone user when they saw your phone. Once the bubble is out, gently adjust the rest of the piece into place. If the bubble comes back, repeat the process - rub the bubble out, and adjust the rest. If you accidentally mess up the top, you are a failure at life. Start again.
**You may not get this on right before it starts drying out. if you don't, just re-wet the piece and start over.
**Once your top piece is on, remove, dip and place the left piece. This is easy. Just make sure it starts right where the last piece left off with no space in between. Be careful not to mess up the top.
**Sit the phone down for 20-30 minutes and let it dry.
Part 4 (The rest):
**Place the bottom left side piece on like you placed the top piece - hold it down with your left, rub the bubble out with your right, adjust the rest.
**You will place the right side piece the opposite way. Place the fat part of it right by the volume button, and once you have it on, secure it with your right thumb and smooth the bubble with your left, then adjust the rest. Be careful not to mess up your other pieces in the process.
**At this point, you should probably dry your phone out again, but if you're brave, slap on that final mystery piece. It doesn't matter what had you use to hold or smooth at this point, just get that piece on!

Illinois = $2.85 shipping also. Guess that's how they are making their money....shouldn't cost more than a 1st class stamp...just like eBay...they profit from shipping...make you think your getting a deal. Not that this is a bad price for a full set but maybe 2 sets id order...

I don't know if the servers crashed but when you go to enter the expiration date of your credit card, the year field is so smushed that it cannot be displayed on the screen. My debit card wouldn't verify, so I used my credit card.

pretty sure they are relatively new, they still offering free protectors for the palm pre or htc hero. its $3, cant really go wrong with that price, but the normal $15 is still a bargin compared to $30 for invisoshield or $20 for ghost armor.

Alright, here's a review I found originally posted by bjbarr on sprintusers.com since I couldn't find any anywhere:
Here is my review:
the front and back skin fit pretty good. the cutout around the kickstand at the bottom is a tad too big but doesn't show to a point that it will be a problem.
the one thing I haven't figured out is the cutouts for the sides. They just don't seem right to me as the one I think is for the volume buttons doesn't really cover the whole side, in other words there is no cutout for the volume buttons. And I haven't figured out the one for the bottom around the mic.
I guess I just won't put anything there and same goes for the sides. I jsut may go ahead and order from BSE and give them a try as I have always been pleased with their skins but like yellotootr said that they probably all come from the same manufacturer and I am leaning toward that same thought, especially the cheaper ones anyway.
Which ever sensor that is to the right of the phone has no cutout but to the left of the earpeice has a cutout and for what??? Makes no sense but I am beginning to think that these skins are for another phone but can be used for the Evo but I haven't been looking to see what other phone they may fit.
They were easy to install though, but I don't think I got all the air bubbles out of the back skin but sometimes they just disappear over night. Guess I will find out tomorrow but I probably won't replace it just for that. It does disturb me that the corners and sides aren't protected because it seems those are the places that get scuffed the most.

you are right.... I just hate inflated shipping prices. Just wish these companies would charge actual shipping costs that's all. And yes word of mouth goes a long way.. also though sometimes companies get defective stuff in bulk at little or no cost to them and can't really sell them so they give them away and make money on the inflated shipping that won't be refunded.

My screen is now Rocking, Worn Pads?

Hey guys
So I have had my Z for 2 weeks and love it for the most part…faster and a crap load more enjoyable than the X10 it replaced. I am having some hardware issues however and was curious if I am alone on this one or others have had the same issue.
The hinge has become pretty loose now and the phone flops open regardless of what side I hold it from but in reality that is somewhat moot as who holds their phone from just one side lol?
The real issue I am having recently is the 6 little rubber stop pads on the underside of the screen’s left side/edge. Now there are 2 thicker rectangular stop pads on the right side’s corners adhered to the phones main body and the 6 little rubber pads on the left are attached to the screen and are there to compensate for the opposite rectangular pads so that the phone has both a buffer and a balance between sides so it sits flush, quiet, and secure.
Well somehow or for some reason those little 6 in a row rectangular pads have either pushed in too far to their respective channel or they have flattened via not regained their density/thickness as now they are flush with the screen’s underside and as a result leave a gap. So when I push, even lightly, on the center to left of the screen is makes a physical and audible click as it teeters down to touch the keyboard underneath and the right side compensates by lifting up and off the 2 corner rubber pads. Essentially the phones center area has become a fulcrum and I am sure that is not healthy on the hinge.
Has anyone else had this odd but irritating issue with theirs or am I alone here?
Perhaps I can try to find a thicker pad I can cut up to replace the strip of 6

No sir I'm on with you on this one. I started a thread about the annoying teeter or the screen a few weeks ago, and alot of people have it. I dont think its due to the pads, but more on the face of how the hinge is designed. It makes it so the screen doesn't sit flat enough. I know that they wanted to make the htc vision slim, but it caused some problems.

Thicker pads would remedy it while closed but once opened the thicker pads would not allow the screen to sit flush at the top of the keyboard

yeah, and honestly it hinders the device greatly because its so annoying. Oh well. Its okay! Still a great Phoenix.

well there's some guy who came up with a DIY fix on the dev section (I think) requires a lot of disassembly but looks worth it. I'd try it myself if I had all the right screw bits.

I think that's only the hinge, not the screen. But I'd do it to if i had them.

Bummer...I can see this rocking causing stress on the hinges down the road.

Accessories Standing cover with Pen

Got my case today and it's OK, but a couple of gripes. There is zero protection for the hinge. Drop it on edge and no safety net. Given that's kind of the heaviest area when folded seems likely to be what hits the concrete on a drop.
The front cover seems to slide around a bit if you put edge pressure on it.
While wireless charging works with the stand slotted, the pen holder prevents it from getting close enough to charge.
Also a bit too bulky to feel natural in the hip pocket with the pen slotted in, though I expected that. The pen is for travel and meetings so I won't have it attached all the time.
The back of the case shows fingerprints almost as bad as the screens do.
*EDIT* And finally I just noticed - the stand is really only useful when folded and in landscape mode. Otherwise you might as well just lay the phone down it leans back so far.
The gray-green of the case is definitely the color I expected the phone to be, so it's not a match to the phone case gray color, but the phone color is only really visible around the power button.
Sorry for potato photos, the only thing I had handy to shoot with was my Surface Duo 1.0.

So as I understand, the colour of the case (Gray green) does not match the colour of the phone (Gray green)?

I bought some for when I got a replacement fold 3. It's worth it. I could reuse the case.

I was able to chose the color in the US.

One thing I do like about the pen attachment; when the pen is installed with the phone open and the power and volume buttons ot the top, I can slide the pen out a couple inches and with my left hand I can completely hold the open phone. The pen slides between my middle and pointer fingers and the phone balances while open and is weildable.
Maybe I should add a photo?
