I can vouch that this fix does work, posted on post 710 of the [PRJ][GSM&CDMA][CAB&RAR] XDAndroid AOSP Port & Startup Utility [8/26] SOUND IS FIXED! thread
to install:
1. delete current modules.tar file in your andboot folder
2. place both files contained in the .rar above in the andboot folder.
3. boot android and enjoy.
I find that this fix makes the android music player a bit more responsive some how as well, before it would lagg a lot but with this fix its almost flowing like it would on a regular android device.

thank you so much for posting the fix here

theres a problem with this fix, replacing the .tar file only does not fix the problem nor does it mess anything up
replacing the zimage as well does fix the problem HOWEVER, it also stops wifi from working =(

Not true, I have this fix installed on my latest BLAZN build and wifi is working for me, so is my 3g data and calls. Load times are the same, and all i've noticed is that virtual keyboards are a bit slow. Market place is still working. Also Facebook account seems to not be able to sync on the phone under accounts and you cannot create a new account for facebook, but the facebook app does work.

thats strange, cause i did a fresh install of android through the cab and then used this fix to fix the static, but my wifi doesn't turn on then, it says error when trying to turn it on.
I should mention i have a tilt 2, might have different results depending on carrier version?

Does this also fix the headphones? Because currentky there is no sound when you plug in headphones

hmm, i have a tilt 2 as well, Running Energy Rom, Wifi works for me, so does data, GPS and MMS.
do a fresh install of android again from the cab, this time verify that wifi does or doesnt work before you do the fix if wifi is working try the fix and see if that breaks it.
It may just be that the install went bad somewhere along the line and thats why you dont have wifi, but truly I have no idea.

great fix i havent tried using the facebook app but it beats the hell outta the static im sure in the next build ref put together everthing will work im waiting on the keyboard fix (tp2)

Market hung on "starting download"

I have been searching for the past couple hours and haven't turned up a fix. A lot of people have suggested reflashing gapps and I'd love to do that but I can't find the apk or zip for it anywhere. Does anyone have a dl link for it? Or perhaps another solution?
Happened to me before. The market heals itself with time.

Try cancelling and re-starting the download. If that doesn't work, open up Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, find Market, Force Close it, then re-open and re-install the updated app. Works for me every time.

Done that 20 times already. I've also wiped and reflashed twice too.
I found the gapps zip and flashed it, of course that didn't work. I just noticed that I can't sign in to google talk either. Everthing I've read says that the market is heavily dependent on gtalk.
I am extremely frustrated and want to throw my evo through my damn window.
try opening Talk and letting that sign in, then restart your download and see if it works. If it still doesn't sign talk out and then back in and try again.
Works for me every time, I think there is a glitch that both apps must be logged on to work

Nope. I can't sign in to Talk.
By chance did you recently change your WiFi access point setup? Or recently attach to it? Your WiFi / router may be firewalling your outbound access. I figured this out after a lot of time banging my head with the same problem.
Even more bizzare was that once connection attempts occurred on my WiFi, just shutting off the WiFi did not resolve like I thought it would. I figured it would go to the 3G to continue... but you actually would have to power down the phone (battery out) to get it going.
Ultimately, I had to open up my port access (outbound) for my phone.
Go into settings. Force close market under running programs. Clear data. Open market. Fixed

Maybe for most people... but when I had this problem, that wasn't the cure. Although I suggest he start with your suggestion... if that doesn't fix, he needs to look deeper into what I mentioned to him.

In a shocking turn of events, now it is working again. I didn't even do anything, I just looked at it and it was downloading all the apps that I had tried and failed to download last night. New downloads are working too.

If you can fix that your market should work too, have you tried reinstalling GAPPS? It can be found in the Cyanogenmod ROM thread.

[Q] Wi-Fi Goes to sleep. Policy: Never. Any way to fix it?

*Edit* Wi-Fi sleep policy is set to never.
It seems like the Wi-Fi goes to "sleep" on the DHD. I installed VLC Remote a little while ago, and after 1-2 minutes the controller will not work. I had to quit the app and reconnect for it to work.
I did a test by pinging the DHD from my computer while the VLC Remote was active, turned off the screen several times. It worked perfect!
I then stopped the pinging and after 1-2 minutes the VLC Remote stopped responding. I pressed the pause button several times, nothing happened.
Then I started the ping back up (the VLC Remote was still open) and after a 2-3 "Request canceled" (no ping reply back from the phone) it got a response from the ping and the VLC Remote worked again.
Is there any way to make the Wi-Fi not go to "sleep"? It's annoying me to stop/start the remote every time I want to pause the movie.
I tried turning Best Wi-Fi performance on, but that didn't help
Thanks!
select the wifi settings, then press the menu button and select advanced, change the wifi sleep policy to never and your laughing

Thanks for the reply fkofilee. It's already set to "never". Updated the original post and title with it.
I restarted the phone and did some more testing.
As long as the screen is on there are no problems (VLC Remote responds), but when I hit the on/off button on the top of the phone to turn the screen off and turn the screen back on after a couple of minutes, VLC Remote will not respond. I have to ping the phone for VLC Remote to respond again.
Any suggestions?

I also have this issue its so annoying. I could be connected to wifi and have bars and then go to download something from the market it will pause and when I go into network setting its says wifi is authenticating but it doesnt change so I have to turn off and back on to get it working again. I had a Iphone 3gs and never had wifi issues like this.

I don't think we have the same problem. Downloading seems fine. When I ping it (while running VLC Remote), it works fine. I can shut the screen off, turn it back on 10 min later and it works fine. It seems like it goes into a type of "sleep mode" when there is no active traffic to/from the phone.
I sent an e-mail to HTC about this problem. I'll keep you guys updated.
Dont know if you do or are into mods but if you root your phone and flash clockwork mod you could try and push a new wifi module using root explorer...or even flash a custom rom...Pretty sure this would fix it..

Thanks rixsta! I'm gonna do a custom ROM, but I'm gonna wait until Gingerbread is released and custom ROMs have been made for that.
Are you up for testing if this is a problem on your ROM? If so, is this fixed with a new wifi module?

[Q]No Audio during Calls, Tilt2 GSM

Hey guys,
There is no audio, when making and recieving phone calls!
I have a GSM Tilt2 (att branded), and the microsd I'm using is a class 6 4gb microsdhc. I connected my phone via usb, formatted the microsd card as fat32 (not quick format), and unrared the contents of the reference release of android 2.2.1.
Booted into it (haret via file manager) it was smooth, but i didn't get any reception.
Restarted into winmo, and launched xdandroid. updated it, unticked cdma, and checked everything else. overclocked at the lowest setting, then booted into android.
I got reception 1-2 bars, received phone calls, but when I picked them up, I had no audio. Person on the other line couldn't hear me and vice versa. Searched around and ppl said to use an updated kernel (1253, not the modules, just zimage). I now had the 3G icon with the blinking up/down arrows, and it's still the same problem.
Can anyone help me out, im sick of winmo ._.
Why would you use a kernel and not the modules?
In theory the only thing that is broken is wifi. Did you remove the old zImage and rename this one to "zImage"?
Also, are you using FRX04?
I must've read the first step of F22's instructions wrong:
1) Download both the zImage and modules files below if you use wifi, otherwise you only need the zImage.

I thought that if I didn't use wifi, i didn't need to update the modules. lol mybad, i'll do that.
The zImage file I downloaded had a string of numbers in the name (im assuming it was the date), and yes I renamed it to just zImage (no file format suffix).
And yes, downloaded from here: sites.google [dot] com/site/androidport/downloads
Updated the modules, and the issue's still present. No audio through the calls. =/

I've found that it is random. I haven't heard of a true fix as of yet.
Huh, I thought that bug was squashed - I don't have that problem on my phone at all anymore...
Oh, and wifi comes with the modules. If you don't need wifi, then that is correct - you only need the zImage.
Just to be sure you are on FRX04, go to Settings -> About Phone -> Build Number (at the bottom). What does it say?
If you guys are running "FroyoX" then that is the problem...

Another small bug i noticed, the phone hangs at boot if it's plugged into a PC. Though this bug may be caused by Simple2Ext. Need to check this.

40m is not GPS's precision. It's probably geting your location from your IP and cell. Check with GPS Status.

in cyanogenmod, you cannot download mms if you don't enable mobile data. if you enable it, then use your download button, you would be able to get your mms.
if it still doesn't work, i would suggest checking your apn settings and see if they are correct.
mms is 100% working in cm9, your problem is either one of the things i've said above

[Q] Voice search "Can't reach Google at the moment" (Solved)

I'm running Liquid Smooth 2.5 and have just found that anytime I try and use voice search the microphone icon glows as if it is recognizing but as soon as it goes to search it just errors out with "Cannot reach Google at the moment". Has anyone else encountered this and are there any suggested fixes? I found some threads of making sure the device date and time is correct. It is. Interestingly I just tried on my rooted stock N7 and same thing... Yet I also just tried on my wife's Asus TF300t and it is working properly... I've checked all google account settings I can think of and can't see anything abnormal.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Try clearing data for the Google Framework
Signal bars are blue both on wifi and on data with good signal. I just tried clearing Google Services Framework... No go still unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion however.

I will try refreshing Gapps when I get a chance but the thing that has me puzzled is why my stock rooted N7 is doing the same thing. I can't help but think it is an issue with my account or something. I haven't changed any settings recently that I know of. if it was just a Gapps issue I would have thought it would be isolated to just my SGS3. It isn't likely a location issue as my Wife's tablet is working fine.... Definitely confused...
Again thanks for any and all suggestions

Remove and Re-add your google account on the affected devices.
Just to try I added my wife's account into Google now and tried voice searching with her account from my N7 and it didn't work either. It works from her tablet. I think this means it is not a ROM issue but rather a settings or similar issue. I will try a Gapps refresh later to see what happens. If anyone else has experienced this regardless of whether there is a fix I'd be curious to know. if others have I may submit it to Google. if it is just a weird issue for me I'd rather try working through it.

I've been having this problem too with an HTC One on a Sense-based custom ROM, and a HTC Evo 4G LTE both stock and custom. I've found better success uninstalling the updates to the Google Search app though it's still slower than it used to be. Some more people have talked about it here... http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...-google-moment-while-online-voice-typing.html
Doesn't seem like there's much of a solution or acknowledgment by Google that there's a problem.
I fixed the issue!! On a hunch I decided to delete my Google account from the phone completely. I then booted to recovery and cleared cache and dalvik. Rebooted and added my Google account back in... it is now working as it used to. If anyone else is having the issue I would recommend trying this and see if it helps you as well.
Almost forgot but I'd really like to thank everyone who contributed ideas and thoughts!
I just verified this fixed my N7 as well!

My impression from searches on Google's forums is that this is a fairly prevalent problem. I don't know what causes it, but I've seen it on S4s, too. I just wanted to add that, anecdotally, I tried clearing the cache (though not dalvik) and removing the Google account, to no avail; however, I found a much simpler solution:
Settings, My Device, Language and input
Change Voice recognizer from Google to something else (in my case Samsung powered by Vlingo)
(Optional) Change Voice recognizer back to Google
This resolved the issue for me, please let me know if it works for others (I don't need a thumbs-up or anything, I'm honestly just curious if it's that simple and we're making it out to be more difficult.)
