Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my Incredible. The other day I installed Cyanogenmod6 RC3 to give it a shot. I read the article about how the internal storage is not recognized and the adb command to auto-mount the storage on boot. I was able to do that and it worked nicely.
I decided CM6RC3 wasn't quite ready for me yet so I went back to my Nandroid backup of Froyo Sense and now all of a sudden my internal storage won't work. I can see it mounted in the same way that it was in CM, but my ringtones, notifications and pictures stored there aren't seen by the OS anymore.
Today I did the rooted version of the official OTA Froyo that was released and it's still no good. I did an internal storage format through the phone as well and it's still a no go.
Any other ideas? I'm stumped. Thanks for the help in advance guys!
Tim
Did you wipe everything from clockwork before you flashed?
Yes, I'm sorry I forgot to mention that. I wipe every time I install a ROM.
Also, just to be safe....I just removed my SD card and did everything in Clockwork that said anything about Wipe or Formatting anything.
I'm reinstalling the OS now.
No difference...still no good.
Well, figured it out. Apparently, the files were ok but the directories were dead. I deleted them and recreated new folders...dragged the new files in and voila!
I'm having the same problem how do you fix the directories for the phone storage.
Try removing the files and putting them onto your computer, format, manually make the folders again and copy your files back in...
Worked for me. Good luck.
how do you do that
my computer wont even find the phone storeage
Just worked for me. Saw it on the pc. You might have a different problem.
I had an issue with CM6 recently that almost bricked my phone. Internal partitions were corrupt. Thankfully I was able to recreate them through lots of ADB commands and a program called "parted".
I loved CM6 but it was too buggy, maybe in the future again.......

I know there are a few threads similar to this one, but i've read them and attempted to do the fixes they list, like calkulins here but it didn't work for me.
enough excuses, here is my problem: for some reason my phone won't mount anymore. It shows up as adb when i turn debugging on, the sd card is viewable on the phone, but i never get the prompt of just charge/disk drive/htc sync/etc when i plug it in now. I've tried a couple different cables on a couple different computers (mac and pc) and i've narrowed it down to be a problem with the phone. Again, i did the mtd-eng.img and flash_image fix from Calkulin's thread. any other ideas? I just did a titanium backup and i'm about to reset the phone, but i'd like to know if there is another fix by chance?
i'm running the rooted stock 2.2 if it makes a difference.
thanks in advance guys!
maybe this is the wrong section to put this question in, feel free to move it to Q&A
When I had issues with the sd card not mounting, I backed up my sdcard on my computer and reformatted my sdcard through windows and then again on the phone. That seemed to fix the issue. Hope that helps.
thanks for the tip. i tried it, but still nothing...
I just went ahead and did a titanium backup, then booted into recovery and wiped. it seems to have worked, and titanium did a pretty good job of restoring all of my system data too, better than i remembered with my g1 anyway...
hopefully it doesn't happen again. i would like to know what caused it though
I started having an issue today when I downloaded snes roms for my emulator. They would download and work great until I rebooted or file shared with cpu. Then they would suddenly disappear. Then I started noticing some of my apps that were stored on my sd card lost there picture and weren't installed anymore. That pushed me over the edge to unroot, format sdcard and start over but then I found out I had more problems. I can see and access the existing files on my sd card but I can't move anything else to it. Everytime I moved over unrevoked s-on and tried to flash it, it wasn't there. Two times it actually showed in recovery but then installation was aborted due to bad file (I downloaded it from multiple sources, including unrevoked).
Should I format the sdcard?
I'm lost, any help?
If possible, backup the sdcard, and then yes, try formatting it.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I've backed up my sdcard's content on my computer but I'm concerned that after formating I won't be able to move the files back. Could that be an issue?
Naw, you'll be able to move them back. You just have to copy them back over.
I tried formatting the sdcard and it didn't do anything. It gave me the warnings about erasing all the files and everything...
Using clockworkmod I tried to partition the sdcard and it had a similar result. It warned me that everything will be erased but when it booted back up everything remained and it's like nothing happened.
Is it possible that the sdcard has been locked?
Did you forward with the partition? Cuz it does warn you. And when partitioned, it should have nothing on it...so try running it again, or do it on a pc if available.
I don't have an adapter for my computer so it looks like I'll need to pick one up tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!
Oh and yes I went forward with the partition along with formatting the card. Both had zero effect. Nothing had been erased.
Hmm that's weird, but alright. And you can shoot me a message if you need anymore help.
I got to work today and swapped a co-workers sdcard into my phone and took a picture. It showed up on her evo proving that my phone still is properly writing files. The sdcard must have just crapped out. I'll be formatting it using my computer today so hopefully that will help.
Well I got a new SD card and everything works perfectly. Now my 8gb will just be my backup after I format it.

Woke up this morning to my alarm not working (no big deal).
Checked my phone, said it was unable to mount the sd card.
Tried to access files from recovery - unable to mount sd card.
Checked sd card in computer, no file system found (RAW), required formatting.
Checked sd card in Kubuntu and was unable to mount it.
Finally found a recovery software program and ran that; found photos and some vids, but in generic folder/file names (i.e. DIR01/JPEG001).
Is there ANYTHING I can do at this point?
I tried formatting the drive in Windows and then ran a recovery again and found some more files (maybe 1/3 of my Titanium backup files, the .apk.gz file types; almost all seem corrupted though).
Am I stuck reformatting and starting over? I had just done a nandroid backup last week and now that seems to be gone, too.
As of now I have been able to access the sd card through an adb shell and pushed the newest MIKG ROM and flashed that successfully. But I'm still without any of my apps, data, pics, and everything else.
Any help is appreciated.
If that data was corrupt, then unfortunately its lost, and you'll have to unfortunately format it again.
I was afraid of that.
Well, guess I get to start off the new year with a "new" phone.

When mine did that it wasn't too long before I had to replace the card itself... good luck but be wary!!

Its the beginning of the end.
So been trying to work out this issue for past couple of days now. Galaxy W (obviously) PACman rom.
Updated to the latest version of rom, all fine but didn't go pristine. Eventually had some issues, biggest of which being I couldn't access internal SD card as storage, yet all my apps were working fine. So, tried again, went pristine, all fine for about a day, no issues whatsoever .... until dreaded internal sd unmounted. Tried again, pristine, double formatting everything and double clearing cache etc. No problems. Updated kernel to skull kernal to fix the bluetooth. No problems.
And now again, it's happened. I've tried to keep a mental correlation in what I'm doing to hopefully give me an idea of what's going on but not having much luck; hoping someone here knows what this issue is as it's driving me mad
I've changed my name in Google; could it be some sort of permissions thing?
USB; phone set to Media player, it might be it's happening after I've transferred but since everything is working fine, it's hard to tell
I've not restored anything, gone completly pristine (took hours) in an attempt to retrace my steps and not get this issue again. Part of me thinks I may as well just leave it as everything works, I can even install fine. But I can't browse it via any file manager or via USB, and a couple of programs I use (CoPilot for one) won't start properly because there is no SD card mounted.
Things I've tried -
CWM, fix permissions
Reboot
Checked Storage under settings, I can see how much free space there is etc.
Enabled and Disabled USB Debugging and tried to see it on my PC (nothing, external shows up fine)
Anything else anyone can think of before I wipe the lot and try again for a 4th time?

*sigh*
No idea why it's doing it, but yeah, seems to be the USB transfer. Problem solved.
So changed USB from Media Player to MTP and back again while connected to PC, internal storage now available.
Always the way, struggled with it for a few days, finally decide to post for help, and I solve it in less than 10 minutes of making the post :silly:
Knowing my luck, it's a known bug I've somehow glossed over in all information!
Edit - spoke too soon
After a reboot, same again. Everything "works", I can install and uninstall, but I can't browse the internal sdcard0 with a file manager or via PC. The above trick isn't working now.

Just thought I'd give it one last bump. Situation is that after every reboot, my internal sdcard is not mounted. I have to connect the phone to a PC via USB, then disconnect and hope that the phone mounts both sdcards. Usually works first time but sometimes I have to connect - disconnect 2-3 times before the internal card is mounted.
Anyone happen to know how to mount the internal card via command line? I could then workaround it with a script via smanager.

I have a T-Mobile Note 3, running DomPop v4.3. A new version (v5) came out and i was like why not. So i downloaded the files to my phone, which gets downloaded to my internal SD Card by default. I then moved it to the external SD Card. Then i backed up everything using TWRP 2..8.5.0. to my external SD Card, and did a normal wipe (data, cache, storage). After that i proceed to install the file and i cannot find it in the folder. I kept looking for 5 mins but no luck. So then i think there might have been some mistake and i'll restore to the backup i just made and that's not there either. I rechecked to make sure i hadn't backed it up in the internal storage but its not there either. So i reverted back to an older backup, which was still in my external SD Card. Upon reboot, i used ES File explorer to check my external Storage and the file i copied and the backups that i made wasnt there. Another interesting thing i noticed was that my TitaniumBackup folder had 0 files. I always make backups before each install and i'm sure there was 200+ files in there. So then i do a titanium backup, download the file again, but this time i copy it to external SD Card. Then i reboot into recovery, trying to install the file but its missing again. What ?? I reboot system without doing anything further and check my external SD Card and i see that the file i copied isnt there. And the Titaniumbackup folder that i just populated like 2-3 mins ago is empty again. I've repeated the process again and again - copying the file, doing titanium backup, and only rebooting my phone, and the files keeps getting deleted. I dont think its a R/W issue because i can write to those folders in the external SD Card just fine without any issues . Its just that when i reboot its gone. So what gives?
You might be better off asking in the DomPop Q&A thread. Maybe someone has had the same issue or already solved your issue over there.
Titanium backup is funky, and can sometimes create more problems than it can solve.
If you have mismatched bootloader and reflash the backup will bork your phone, can't figure out why you would use TB, I tried it once during my Galaxy S2 days and never bothered with it.
Maybe there is a different app that works better on lollipop.
Or you could be having the internal SD card issue that some are having, there is a fix in one of the update threads try that.
Pp.
Thanks for your input guys. The issue was with my Transcend Premium 300X 64 GB external SD Card. I'm not sure what but something broke it, and broke it bad to the extent that i cannot write on it anymore. I can view the existing files in there, copy it but cannot delete it. I cannot format the SD card either. I tried using command prompt (disk part, format), softwares (SD Card Formatter, HDD Low Level Format Tool, etc) but no luck. Keeps saying its unable to format. I tried removing the write protection which was off to begin with, and scanned it multiple times with different Anti-Virus software but to no avail. And yes, i also removed the lock in the adapter. So yea, seems like i'll have to throw this one away. Unless someone knows a hard-core tool to format this sucker because i tried most of the conventional ways/tools i can find in the internet and it didnt work for me. Thanks.
Check out you tube with different search prompts, you never know, someone may have put out a video on it.
Good luck.
