Made a new thread for the update.zip versions of the LagFix since i have had people asking me to do that so it doesn't get cluttered up together with RyanZA's fix in his thread.
Only one file included... Will overwrite old root version.
Testet on firmware: (Did a fresh reflash every time)
I9000:
I9000XWJG5 (Eclair - Europe)
I9000XWJM1 (Eclair - Europe)
I9000XWJM5 (Eclair - Europe) (Thanks Peaster111)
I9000XXJP2 (Froyo - Europe)
I9000JPJG8 (Eclair - Africa)
Captivate: (Thanks to Zilch25 for testing)
I897UCJH2
I897UCJH3
Instructions:
(Note that i recommend that you do a fresh reflash through ODIN.)
1. Download the update.zip of your choice and rename it to update.zip.
2. Place it on your internal sdcard.
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Hold down Vol Up+Power button+Home Button for a couple of seconds until u see the galaxy logo .
5. Use the up and down buttons to get to update.zip.
6. Press menu button on update.zip to select it.
7. After install, the phone restarts.
8. Go to the newly installed 'SL4A' application from the app list, open it and choose either LagFix_Ext2.sh or LagFix_Ext4.sh to install the fix.
9. The script should run takes around 2-4 mins before it reboots.
10. First reboot after applying script will take some time as it's moving data around and mounting folders.
Regarding Step 4: What is written is for GT-I9000 version.
For Captivate and Vibrant as other people with that phone.
For Captivate people that are trying this on I897UCFJ6 please read the following post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7939738&postcount=177
Notes:
The current version works on Froyo BUT you can only use the ext2 option as the current kernels in Froyo doesn't support ext4.
Known Bugs:
Got no idea if people still will have problems with changing fonts with ext2 since it works for me.

Hey, would you like me to test this on JP3??
Thread
is it possible to undo this lag fix? what scores in quadrant are we expecting with this?
All lag is gone with this or is there some left as I encounter in ryan's? tnks in advance for the hard work
Hi
Great tool
if i'll replace files in the zip will it still work?
(like replacing busybox with version 1.18 and replacing apn-conf with one who has Israeli carriers or adding fonts library for hebrew fonts)

There is a script included to remove the lagfix. From test with stock kernel quadrant score is excepted to be around 2100-2200 with ext2 and 1800-1900 with ext4.
From all the testing we have been doing on this release when fixing bugs there haven't really been that much lag... you might see small lag when opening an application for the first time or when installing an app since we are using a different method this time where we don't move the application's apk's after it's installed, but personally i haven't seen this yet.

Hmm no idea tbh... You might be able to open the zip, replace the files and close it again without losing the signature that it's signed with, but this is something that i haven't tried yet so don't know if it will work.
thanks for the answer.. one more question if you don't mind answering.. what would you advise ext2 or ext4? which provide better performance despite of the score? thank you

I would recommend ext4 since it have journaling, which means there is a smaller chance on losing data if your phone lose power by pulling the battery or if the battery reach 0%.
Other people would say ext2 since ext4 might reduce the lifetime on the NAND since it has journaling
I have only tested the ext4 myself pretty much while i have had others to test both ext2 and ext4. Also this is what Zilch25 has posted about ext2 and ext4 on the captivate forum:
Is EXT2 for me?
If you want your Quadrant scores to be bloated beyond belief and don't care if your data spontaneously combusts (Results may vary). Alternatively if you're worried about your NAND wear leveling not being able to handle the strain of EXT4 journaling.
Okay EXT2 is scary, how about EXT4?
You can't afford for your things to get corrupted? Weirdo. Real world performance between EXT4 and EXT2 is barely noticeable if at all, for the everyman this is probably your best bet.

i think u can replace or delete files as u like.
i replaced, delted or added files every time before i flashed a new ROM, like HACKECLAIR or SamSet.
Works well.
applying ext4 gives me the stopped unexpectedly google error
Yeah I can second that... after a full wipe SL4A is giving me FC's now too =P
Just wanted to add:
EXT2 may be less safe than EXT4, but to-date, there has been no reports of any corrupt or lost data using the EXT2 fixes. This is over a pretty huge sample over a fairly long period. Not to say there are no problems with EXT2, but there has not been any impact to anyone for using EXT2 as yet.
Other than that, awesome job Tayu! Looks great!
yep, i get the force close for either script from sla4
OK ill reupload with the old version of sl4a then.
Im still not sure wether i should go for Ryan's one-click .apk fix or this one.

Oh happy day, thanks for the hard work. I can't wait to test this when I get home.
Link coming soon - how you downloading
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
may I ask, why would this be any different from vr 10.3? they're both build from official 2.1 roms for the gsm hero. one is from europe, the other, asia. ok, same phone still.
Is it like the VR team has learned a few things from vr10 and are doing things differently in vr12 so this will be a better rom than vr10?
because vr10 is supposed to be the ultimate sense rom, no?
how can this be any better? I read the "Added" list above, sure there are some interesting things, but don't all of those things work in vr10.3? as well? maybe the cpu won't change speeds as often now, but in all honesty, will this work any differently than 10.3 did?
I finally left VR after vr10.x because I'm tired of the slowdowns in sense roms. villain superhero2 is much better to me, but oddly has some broken things (considering it's from the same rom I don't quite get it, but hell I'm not the one building the rom so I'm just happy you guys do all this hard work!
But what I really want is a sense rom where I can use whatever launcher I want (I love launcherpro right now) without having to move to a non-sense or almost-non-nense (IE: superhero) rom just to get the speed I need.
will this happen with VR12? or for pure speed is it still better to go with non-sense or partial-sense?
so many questions, sorry, rambling, but I'm confused about the big deal about euro hero 2.1 rom versus asian one. the languages were added, keyboard was changed, so the taiwan rom became the euro rom, no?
silly questions maybe? did I miss something LoL
cheers, thanks for indulging me. I'm su re I'm not the only one wondering this stuff.

I'm curious what you think compared to superhero 2.0 (which I'm on right now).
try using launcherpro under 11 beta and see how it does compared to launcherpro under superhero 2 for example.

As there was a last minute fix required right as we went live, lol typical.
To address some questions, especially from dkelley:
This is a -fast- ROM. Fresh boots finish in 5-6 minutes, instead of the 10-15 most previous builds took. From power on to usable UI is under two minutes. It is smooth, it is fast, it is slick.
We've already had alpha and beta testers comparing it to Superhero and that's with Sense. Imagine LauncherPro...
We didn't just go from 10.3 and everything prior to that with some fixes. This is built from the base HTC ROM+OTA updates with further optimisations and fixes applied ourselves.
Apart from the additional European language support, we would not release a ROM if we didn't feel it to be an improvement over what we already have available. That's what 11.9.x is here, for you to help us test, report back bugs, so that VR12 can be the best ROM we've ever released.

are you sure it's not working? it takes a long time to copy thigns over to sd. when I do a titanium backup of 100+ apps after flashign a new rom it fills up app space pretty fast but after 10-20 minutes it lowers space down again in phone memory (not speaknig of 11.9 here but apps2sd in general)

No you need to read earlier in the thread where I said to check md5sums. We had a problem with the release we initially went live with (missing /system/sd folder in dir structure) which broke apps2sd.
Please check the md5sum of your .zip, it should be 8fbeb43c7d5cf970c1669b2e833c9fa0
If it isn't, redownload and reflash.

OneClickLagFixV2PLUS inside the app is currently in RELEASE status. It has been tested on a fairly enormous number of devices without issue.
This is an APK (Normal Android App) that will install an EXT2 lag fix for you.
The APK itself can support a number of different lag fixes. It currently has the old OCLF V1 fix, which uses symlinks, and it now also has a new V2 fix which uses bind mounts.
This is in a new thead, as the old thread is very very long, and this is now version 2.
New features of the OCLF2+ lagfix vs OCLF1+
- Bind mounts are faster and require less O/S overhead than symlinks, making this fix smoother in everyday use.
- The bind mount allows for Android to report the correct free space available.
- If something goes wrong at boot, and the bind mount does not initialize, you will boot up to a copy of your data from before the lagfix was applied. This makes V2 safer than V1. (copying /system/bin/playlogosnow onto /system/bin/playlogos1 will effectively restore your device to how it was before you applied the lagfix. There is also an undo option, which will copy all of your changed data back to RFS before restoring.)
- As a bonus, an option to set the wifi screen off timeout is included.
How to use this:
Copy over the APK file onto your phone, and run/install it as normal using 'My Files'. There will be a 'One Click Lag Fix' app installed. Run that, and select the option you want!
The app will automatically kill all running tasks, and enable flight mode. You should probably not use the device while the lag fix is running. If you accidentally hit back or home by mistake, re-enter the app and re-select the lag fix. It should still be running.
Known issues in 2.0.0
Some devices with heavy carrier customization cannot install EXT2 Tools. Fix should be in the next version, if possible.
On Froyo (Android 2.2) this lag fix will refuse to install if the apps2sd feature is in use. The error you will see if Apps2SD is in use on installation will be that the loopback cannot be mounted.
Workaround: In order to install the lagfix on froyo, you will need to set each app that is on the external SD back to regular. Once the lagfix is installed, you can move apps back to the SD.
Fix should be included in the next version, if possible.
If you use up more space inside the EXT2 than is available outside the EXT2, you will have to remove apps/delete data until you have enough space to copy your data back when you want to uninstall. To help avoid this, don't set the space bar all the way on the far right.

You don't need to uninstall APK v1 first. It will overwrite it.
V1 lagfix will need to be uninstalled first, but the uninstall can be done by either V1 or V2 APKs.

So.. MAGLDR is finally out. I'd like to give away the stuff i've put my love in in the last few months while testing MAGLDR. Without neat release pictures (I'm bad at marketing, i'm the software guy, sorry..)
This is the latest version of Desire HD Sense FRG83D (very close to stock). Basically everything is working and I have been using it for a while now.
It's a little slower than most Desire ROMs (though you get neat benchmark scores; NOTE: Benchmark scores are usually lower than the ones from SD builds,
because NAND writes are slower), but that pays off feature wise in my opinion. See for yourself.
I have squashfsed the app and framework directory, which saves a lot of space. (Desire HD ROMs are very space hungry). Finally got it down to use only 230 MB + (6MB free in /system, because mkyaffs2image does strange stuff), which means you will have 184MB of storage space available for your user files (if you use the partitioning layout I supplied with the DFT flasher and depending on if you chose to use the EXTROM area/last 24 MB of NAND space in MAGLDR - if you have a TMOUS LEO you will of course have more).
Things i have removed (i can remember..):
Maps (it's an outdated version anyway - download a new version from Market)
eReader stuff + eBooks (takes 50 MB or so - WTF, not worth it)
Not sure if all languages are working, because I removed some of the language dependend stuff, except for German and English.. Has to be tested. <- should be working according to users.
Notes:
This ROM comes as ODEX-ROM, because that again saves a lot of space, which would otherwise be taken twice (once in davlik cache and once in /system/app / system/framework)
If you want SuperUser, install the superuser app from market. I'm not sure if i am allowed to just include it in my ROM. (0.2 has superuser app pre-installed)
My own kernel is included, based on the latest linux_on_wince_htc git. It has the SMARTASS and INTERACTIVE governor as well as an undervolt (925 mV) (no UV in 0.2 anymore).
Of course this ROM comes with RMNET enabled. My version of the libhtc_ril_wrapper allows you to choose between PPP and RMNET by file. If /system/ppp exists (create it with touch /system/ppp) then PPP will be used, otherwise RMNET. RMNET is working quite well, so i would suggest you use that.
If you want notifications working, install Led me know from market. I had battery drainage issues with it, so i removed it.
If you still experience problems with the Browser just closing, or crashing, install Flash player from Market
Due to the squashfsed app and framework directory you will NOT be able to write into /system/framework and /system/app. If you want to change sth there you need to extract my ROM and unpack squashed.sqsh, make your changes and put everything back. I won't explain it in detail here. Use google if you want to know more, or search the forum.
The MAC address of the WIFI interface can't be read correctly, nor changed at the moment. We need to wait for Cotulla to implement it in MAGLDR. <- MAC address can be changed temporarily. See here. Thanks to clio94 for posting this.
Known issues:
There is some issue with dexopt running for the apk's in /data/app on every boot atm, which i was not able to solve yet.. (You see a lot of Pruning dalvik file.... in logcat, making bootup slow, if you have a lot of apps installed)
Maybe someone else can help out on this?
On some languages you can't add cities to the weather widget/app. Switch to English if you want to do that as a workaround, you can switch back afterwards again.
htcsense.com features are not working currently - dunno what causes this; Maybe it's HTCs fault
If you think the ROM is slow.. Wait at least one hour after you installed and configured all your stuff before judging! ROM is syncing and configuring a lot of stuff after initial setup!

gauner1986, HI-FI man how's unlock time on your build usually on desire hd builds it is 3 seconds... to much
drooling already.... more and more familiar names here...
could anyone explain this for me ??
"(if you use the partitioning layout I supplied with the DFT flasher and depending on if you chose to use the EXTROM area/last 24 MB of NAND space in MAGLDR)."
i found an option "UseLast24NAND" but what does that mean ?! ..ooouuuh Im so confused with all these unknown words
Whooohooo I'm excited for this!
can you upload before newyear

********** This is DamianGTO Steam kernel **********
This is the only working steam kernel for froyo 2.2.1.
With this you get a recovery that has touchscreen and all tool you need for your phone.
You also get a good kernel thats fast and very close to stock kernel.
I also made this tool(Damian tweak) to make things a bit easier.
There is a Steam Rom also now. I made it to make it easier for all.
I also have a new kernel that has a simpler recovery, but all script is working.
So look at the DamianGTO Ultimate kernel.
This is what you get with this kernel:
- Full (multi-)touchscreen interface in the recovery.
- Ext2, Ext4, Jfs and rfs file system auto-detection support
- On-line help system
- A primitive File Manager
- An even more primitive console
- Crypto
- Configure options for Steam Kernel
- Afterburner post-flash utility
- 32 bit display support
- Backup/Restore
- Root (installs busybox 1.18.1 and superuser)
- Almost everything CWM had (supports both sdcards, even for usb storage mode, efs backup support, etc.)
- Afterburner
- Theme support with afterburner
- 350MB RAM
- Optimized kernel tweaks
- Alter minfree strict settings
- Deadline schedueler (Optimized)
- Tiny RCU( less memory footprint)
- lowmemorykiller patch
- Support for bootanimation.zip
- Made from froyo 2.2.1 source code.
- Initramfs from JS3 kernel
- No logging after booting the phone.
- Voodoo sound V4
This is a Beta version and it is not 100% stable.
Have always a backup before you use it and when you use it, so you don't loose your data if something unexpected happens.
ROOT:
If you want root you need to install busybox and superuser.
You also must convert your System to Ext2, Ext4 or Jfs.
Lagfix:
You can convert all partition you want to Ext2, Ext4 or Jfs.
I do use EXT2 only right now and its working very good.
Jfs has a bug if you use it on system. you loose all your sound.
This works best for me and its fast, but its up to you what you want to use.
Don't use Ext4 on the Cache if you need all 30MB for downloading from market.
Ext4 will take 4MB for its journal.
Bootanimation:
Put your bootanimation.zip in /data/local folder and it will use that next time the phone boot up.
You must also change it in recovery to use Android boot animation.
If you don't the boot animination will not work and the phone will be black until it has started up.
Theme:
You must change the script in the theme.zip file.
Look in the afterburner section how the script shall be.
You only need to change the updater-script to update-script and make the change thats needed.
I have put in Ext4 and Jfs support in the kernel. People ask to much about it and I dont think its fair for me not to use it when this is the only steam kernel on froyo 2.2.1 that works.
I still think ext2 is a better system for the phone and use it on the Data partition without any problem.
I also used Tiny RCU( less memory footprint) and lowmemorykiller patch to make the kernel a bit better.
**Update **
New kernel again (1k).
This time I did move it to 600HZ and optimized the cpu use.
It should be faster and smother then 1J, but not has as much battery drain then Speed_kernel.
I hope this is right settings and it will not drain more battery then stock.
You dont need afterburner to install themes.
But you still need to change the script to an update-script.
Then you can use the zip option in the recovery.
Afterburner:
Download the theme you want.
Download afterburner.zip( attached last in this post).
Open the zip file and put your theme zip in the catch folder and remove the other file.
Edit the afterburner.conf.
Change the TEST with the name of your theme and what your theme zip file is named.
---[ID:theme
---[NAME:Install TEST Theme
---[HELP:This will install TEST to your phone. Beware! You can only switch back to a previous theme if you have them in a afterburner file.
extract theme
install_package CACHE:TEST.zip
If your theme has updater-script and update-binary then they don't work.
To make them work you need to use update-script and remove both of the files.
In this new file you write where you want the file to be copied.
If you don't know how this script file works then ask and you will get help.
You can also put as many them zip file in the afterburner file you want.
Just copy all folders and rename the Theme folder to a different name and copy the text in afterburner.conf. and write the new folder name in the text you just put in. If you don't know how then ask and i will help you.
I will put some theme up thats already fixed later on.
If you have a theme that you want med to fix just give me a pm.
So try this Steam kernel and tell what you think. If you find any bug then tell me also.

Way to go.
i can use this with jpy 2.2.1?
I am going to test this!
Edit:
I flashed with a stock JP7 and then Damian's Steam Kernel afterwards.
Everything is working flawless, no problems at all even after two hours extensive using.
Quadrant shows a 1213 which is normal on JP7.
Later I am going to try with Lagfix enabled and other ROMs.
I like the Steam recovery, somehow strange, but kewl and modern ;-)
Kernel seems to be more responsive than the stock kernel!
ok, I flashed my fon with Nitr8's insanity 0.3.2 based on Android 2.2.1.
After that (without even booting it) I flashed with Damian's Steam Kernel.
Everything went flashless, Systems comes up fast - BUT:
The Baseband is NOT recognized from the Steam Kernel. There we still ned to fix, but everything else is working well.
Responsiveness is very good. I am very happy with it so far as it is looking promising.
Using the Quadrant Score gives me just 1180. This is really not enough.
Nevertheless it feels very responsive and smooth ??
Feelig (especially in Recovery Mode and other things like that) very dodgy and often throwing errors out on console makes me not worrying as it is still alpha.
Why is this kernel using 300Hz ? next I need to try some optimizations though.
Edit:
after 2 reboots suddenly the baseband is correctly recognized ??
so I can confirm now it works sufficent to be tested on JPY 2.2.1
Seems to work okey.
This kernel base is the same that the latest z4mod kernel I did.
So they should work the same after you booted up the phone.
The steam recovery is fun, but its need more work to be safe.
**Damiangto steam kernel, 346MB, 300HZ **
*** UPDATE **
I have fixed the root issues.
It should work, but if you get any problem just tell me
I did update the kernel file on the first post.
So download it if you use the first kernel.

The kernel is stable, but the recovery is still alpha and i must test that more and hope for an update if the steam engine.
But if you have a place for kernels thats not stable then you can use it.
I know many want a steam kernel and im suppriced that none have done any yet on jpx source that works.

So far so good.
Installed this kernel under Darky's latest 8.0 ROM. Working fine so far!
I'm going to do some testing with all the settings today, keep you all informed.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CLOSE or DELETE THIS THREAD. Dandiest has started his own thread here on the NAND forum and this is no longer needed.
TO ALL: I am reposting a NAND build from the SD forums for Dandiest. His work is fantastic and this is the most stable build I have used to date at least for me and my TMOUS HD2.
Orignal thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937
Dandiest does not want to maintain 2 threads but I will be updating this one as he updates his so that the same content is there. If you want to pose a question to Dandiest you will need to do it in the original forum.
Just try it, you will know.

for SD build, only need to extract the folder in desire_z to overwrite your current desire_z folder.
for Nand build, extract the folder of .data and DLZUPDATE to the root of your SD card, you can edit the config.txt in .data to change the gps_zone. and can put your original data.img into .data.

Nand V2.0 Testing version released, and SD will make use of the same system.img:
1. this is the test version only , but I have used it for > 1day, and quite proud of it. :D
2. I have built in with the "upgrade" facility, thus, willl provide the update for some enhancement soon, together with SD build.
3. I have enabled the Data2SD(need test, as it is most easy to do :D, thanks for Takaaki), can refer to other build for how to use it, but I have extended the .config to be able to choose from Data2 SD or data2ext4 which will be enabled soon, suggest you partition SDCard before implementing the Data2Ext4.
4. If you encountered any FC or Market problem or Any other problem, can use the same approach as SD version, do the fix permission in the Rom Manager.
5. the previous update for reverting back to stock version is still applicable to the Nand build, put the update in the folder of "DLZUPDATE" at the root of your SDCard.
6. have re-squashed the build, put some apps(Music, etc) aside in the system/app directly in order for you to replace it. others, still keep the symbol link to Squashed file, that enable you to delete the link and put your own app.
7. several not so common apps and skin have been removed, will provide it late to the data partition.
- made 2 builds, same system base, one for SD, the other for Nand. I will try to maintain 2 builds in sync going forward.
- for the system base, i made a lot of changes, some problems should be solved, but need more tests.
- for nand version, i squashed as many files as possible but keep the some level of the flexibility of customization, e.g, for app, i changed the symbol link from directory to filles, thus, you can easily overwrite a symbol link with your own app, for framework , same approach, you can also change anything you like.
- after squashed, the system is about 200mb, next i will incorporate into the data2ext4, to improve the I/O and of course, enlarge the data space.
- Provide 1G data.img. to replace your existing one.
- If you still experience the FC. try (thanks nito2721)

dandiest included all of the apps he ripped from this build above. Reposting his link....
http://www.mediafire.com/?vjb479v6k0mougn
to install FM radio you need to use the built-in update utility dandiest created. In the root of your SD card you must create the following folders, "DLZUPDATE" inside that create "root" inside that create "system" inside that create "app" inside that place the file "com.htc.fm.apk."
Once you have DLZUPDATE\root\system\app in the root of your SD with the com.htc.fm.apk file inside, reboot your phone and it will automatically install the FM radio.
I've tried every nand build and this one is by far the greatest. Fast, stable, lightweight and extremely low battery consumption. Feels like the native OS. You can read other user's testimonies and if you'd like to follow dandiest's incredible work, he maintains this build in the HD2 Android Development section.

Yes. Pictures larger than the max (1024K) will be compressed to ~40K. Anything smaller than the max will be sent out without being compressed. I have it running 100% from nand on my TMOUS HD2. You can also run it from your SD through WM (which i used to before magldr) and he also created a data2sd build for euro hd2 users.
Everything has been addressed in dandiest's thread. He maintains and focuses on this build only this build to make it perfect and in my opinion, he has. dandiest has expressed that he doesn't want to maintain two threads so please head over to the following link to his thread. You will not be disappointed.

He maintains and focuses on this build only this build to make it perfect and in my opinion, he has. dandiest has expressed that he doesn't want to maintain two threads so please head over to the following link to his thread. You will not be disappointed.

font folder is squashed so it can not be changed by normal means. if you ask the build creator to make you a font update folder to use with his update utility, he will.
his thread is here if you'd like to request.....

I'm getting freezes galore on the NAND version... Not sure why, but I've downloaded it 2 times, re-installed like 4 times, but it just doesn't want to run on my device. It does run very smooth when it works for the 5min that it works though.
I have not had that issue but lets get some basics. What verson of Magldr are you using and how many times have you reflashed and/or rebooted your phone.
haha, thanks, just find this thread.
I really have no time to maintain 2 threads, instead, I'd rather spending all my spare time to improve the build itself.
a lot of time has been spent on enabling the data2sd and ext4, now, I'm excited to release the upgrade(test version) to V2.3, it is not anything like the current data2sd or ext4 or a2sd(I have studied all of those) , what's special for my build is:
1. it can be easily change from data2sd to ext, vice versa by the switcher of data_img in config.txt, if the sdcard has 2nd partition, it will automatically change to the data2ext.
2. sd card is not simply mount to overwrite the nand data partiton, instead, the original data partition in Nand is used for improve the system performance: property, misc, system, dalvik-cache are moved back to nand, no matter the data is in data.img file or on 2nd partition.
3. a switcher of "sd_boost" in config.txt is provided to improve the SD performance furthermore. for ext4, it will be mounted to loop without journal, which will significantly improve the SD IO. for data.img, a-sync will be used. while of course, the price is that there is some chance of data crapt, for data.img user, can easily copy the file, for ext user, I will provide another function to backup/restore the data in ext to/from an img file soon.
I was wondering if i could remove the animations and get the stock one?
