Hey all. Apologies if this question has already been previously answered. Ever since installing the Skyraider 2.2 Sense ROM, my signal strength and 3G connectivity have been acting a little funky. Phone will flip flop between 1x and 3G in areas where it never used to, as well as loose signal in those same areas. I'm wondering if this has to do with an outdated or oddball PRL. I can only assume it's not a safe idea to perform an automated PRL update on a modded rom, but I don't know for sure. Anyone out there have any advice?

I updated mine when I updated my radio to 2.05. It works better now, and I've had no problems from VZW or anything
Alright, sweet, good to hear! Do you happen to know if the same applies to the 2.15 radio (the version I have)?

I updated PRL with out any issues and I am using 2.15 radio with Skyraider 2.2.
Yeah it's starting to look like I'm going to have to manually update my PRL, because I just tried doing a *228 and it came back as "Programming failed, call customer service".

Nevermind actually. I tried it a second time and it completed successfuly. Now just need to determine if my overall signal has gotten better, lol.

So a day or two ago people started complaining that they can't hear anything I'm saying. They say when they talk its perfectly normal but as soon as they stop are hearing white noise that continues when I talk too. They seem to hear me fine on speaker mode though. I've changed back from the hybrid Alltel prl to the *22899 update, changed roms and disabled set CPU since i thought it may be due to my screen off profile. Still not working.
Current setup
Skyradier Vanilla 3.0 RC3
2.07 radio
.17 leaked kernel
Kinda at a loss, I've change everything I could think including doing a wipe and trying miui Rom to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

I was thinking that too, didn't wanna try cuz heard a lot of people talking bad about the 2.15 radios plus it worked fine for months on 2.07 Anyway flashed it and all is well again

No problem. The only issues I hear people running with the radio is the 2.15.00.09.01 and thats only areas were there isnt many towers. The radio tries searching for a signal alot and it runs the battery down. Now 2.15.00.07.28 is the official radio that came out for froyo so no issues. Anyway I run the .09.01 for a couple days and Im really enjoying the snappyness out. 3G is stronger now for me.
I just flashed Cyanogen RC2 and I am not able to get 3g. Where the 3g should be there is only a "1x". The data works but is incredibly slow, I asked a friend and he said that I might need to flash the new radio. Anyone have any other suggestions?

What is your current radio?? When you flashed CM it comes with current one..

Are you in an area with a bad signal? At work when I'm not near a window my connection will sometimes drop to that level.
No I have full service and I did a speed test and I got 1 KB/s dload speed

I've had that happen and what I did was luck mobile data off, wait a bit, then enable it again.

This was happening to me to, on every rom. The other phone on my account was faster to...odd. So I called Sprint and they "refreshed my data services". Flawless now. Now its says 3g instead of 1x. Stoked

is there any risk involved in this? eg. can they tell I'm rooted/running a custom rom? sorry I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this stuff.
Also when I go to wireless settings there is no option for mobile data

Well don't mention it to them make sure you have a rom that has the option to update your prl, and profile. Because they'll want you to do it. Fare warning, they'll want you to update the firmware. I just went with it, but it didn't go through. It said "there is no system update". So it all worked out.

This has been happening to me, too. I tried different radios, prl, etc.. with no changes. I even went back to a rooted 3.26 rom and let the phone update the firmware and everything it wanted to with no change in signal. The Sprint tech said everything looked fine on his end after having me update profile, prl, check for software and firmware upgrades. I can't remember what he called it but basically he reactivated my phone as a last step.
CM and mobile signal widget show 1x and when I go to ##debug# (on sense) and check EVDO engineering every field shows <failed>
When I get time I am going to go to Best Buy and hope their insurance works well.
That's weird because when I go to another rom like fresh my 3g works fine its just on cyanogen that my phone has this hiccup

For the last 2 1/2 to 3 weeks my data speeds have come to a crawl. At first I thought it could have been my rom at the time, but I have since changed roms and even updated my radio version along with wimax and pri. No matter what website I load or application I try and download I can't seem to get above 200kbs up/down with 3g. I can't test wimax since miui doesn't support it.
Could it be throttling on my account or maybe because I tether alot to let my niece go online with her DS?

check your pri... needs to be 2.whatever, not prl, 2 differernt things, then if pri is good i might reccomend flashing new radios.. i use cyanogen cause it is asop and supports wimax

I know but the miui rom itself doesn't support wimax. I have the latest radios and stock kernel from miui which is based off cm..

Anyone else getting an error while trying to update their PRL? I keep receiving an "internal error" and since I'm away from a computer, I won't be able to manually update it OR find a thread already similar to this :/ any suggestions/fixes for this anyone? It has been said doing Noobnl's EFS clear of the modem fixed this for some people. It is a communication error between your phone and Sprint. So the EFS clear reactivates the phone. I will find a link to the thread.

Nope, I tried but didn't seem to help. Keep getting the same error dnt know exactly what caused it since I was able to properly update my PRL without any troubles whatsoever about a day ago. U think a logcat might tell me what's wrong?

I don't think there would be enough information in the logcat but try it. It may just be a Sprint error in your neighborhood. It may fix itself in a day or two. You can also try Odining back to straight stock and see if it works. When mine would get the same error...for months...magically one day it worked and did for a lot of people. It was a Sprint network error then.

I also tried Odining back to stock the other day as well an it didn't help either. Still get the same internal error. I was also wondering if this might be on Sprint's network and not my Epic. I mean I can update it manually when I'm @ home near my computer so its no big deal but...I would really enjoy being able to update it easily over my Epic again.

I was about to start a thread on this. Maybe it's not my phone. I am unable to update my profile, prl, or any other update. A soon as I check for an update the wifi or 3G icon disappears, and the update check fails.

Well, looks like I'm not the only one. Maybe this error is on Sprints part and not ours. I feel like calling Sprint just to ask and confirm tho

It sounds like it might be, and area related. Mine still updates. They could be updating some towers and network near you and that server is down which has the PRLs and Profiles. The average Sprint tech won't know, you will probably need to be on Tier 3 tech.
I just tried updating mine and got the same error. It has never failed for me in the past so I would guess it's a network issue. We had some strong winds here last week that made my service a bit screwy, so maybee they are just doing some maintenance.
Edit: I just tried it on my girlfriends epic after posting this and it worked on her phone. Tried again on mine and got the same error. We are both running the same setup. Hmm...

Yes. I have 2 Epics on my account and 1 would update fine but mine would not until the day Sprint fixed the network problem. Drove me crazy for awhile trying to figure out the differences in the phone. So probably still a Sprint error. You could call them and have them go through reactivation to see if it makes any difference.

It's really not a huge deal, I live in a pretty decent service area and rarely need to roam. I was just trying it out to give some input here.

I have also had this issue for about two or three months. In that time, I've used EF02, EH06, and back to EC05. Modems were updated accordingly to match.
Currently running SFR 1.2 + Genocide 2.0 + EG22 modem. I've tried both flashing via CWM and ODIN back to stock EC05 (and EC05 modem) without restoring anything, still no go. My brother Epic (always been stock EC05, with root) updates PRL and profile just fine.
EDIT: After about 1 hour with Sprint, I had to re-ODIN to EC05. I finally got re-activated after yet another hour with Sprint. And despite that, still the issues with PRL/Profile. Will probably take it in tomorrow, no use in restoring my old setup yet.
I wiped my modem then had sprint re activate it. Was perfect for a week then now I'm unable to update prl or profile. Same error internal error. I also just restored a nandroid and then reflashed the rom entirely trying to fix this. I also updated the prl manually hoping that would allow me to update profile and such again but nope. It must be on sprints side. I also was gonna make a thread about this lol

With all the text messaging, MMS and prl errors suddenly popping up along with Sprint's promise to improve their network through October I believe it is a Sprint network error and will clear up by end of month.

IMO Sprint's improvements are starting to show. I have seen major improvements on Speedtest. Ignore my ping I was using the server that's 175 miles away. Same on all phones ....

This was a problem for months for me as well.
After flashing several ROMs and kernels, and different GB leaks, I decided to go back to 100% stock. My phone came with Eclair 2.1 out of the box, so I found that and ODIN'd to it.
I let it do the OTA update to EC05 Froyo and was able to update my PRL to 60681
I can't explain why, and it may have been a coincidence with Sprint's network, but ODIN'ing the phone back to stock that way seemed to fix it. I've flashed a few Froyo-based ROMs and haven't had an issue since.
My first post so can't post in development threads. Been browsing for months but never registered.
I have been using synergy since I was able to root with revolutionary. Used g-mode for a while but non g-mode seems to run better. Switched over to WarmTwoPointThree on Monday with freedom kernal.
No 4G doesn't bother me because I don't have coverage and I love how sexy the Rom is and how smooth it runs. Didn't have any issues till last night. Noticed I can no longer receive or send text messages that include pictures or any type of media. I know about the 160 character limit with 3.5 but didn't find anything on this. I already posted on the bug link in warm 2.3 op, but no answer yet.
This is just an attempt to get someone to be aware and Idk if its just me. I love warmtwopointthree but have switched back to synergy for the time being. Will switch back when it gets updated.
