Reminders not reminding

Hi all
a recent issue seems to be affecting my xda artemis (o2 branded). None of my reminders, appointments , alarms and tasks are alerting me when I have set them to. The sounds and notifications are on as is the display message set to on. The volume is also on and in all other respects the device seems to be working accurately.
I have made no changes to the ROM or Directory, no new applications have been added and none removed or altered.
Further symptoms appear to be that when performing a soft reset about 1x a week the device will sound all manner of alarms and reminders, but fails to display any notification of what they are for. I have to wait 10 - 15 minutes for this annoyance to stop before I can continue to use my device normally.
I use wisbar advance 2.8.0.3 beta and have had no problems with it so far. The above problems occur whether or not wisbar is running.
Thoughts comments and solutions as always welcome.
Cheers
Pete
Please look into the \Windows\StartUp folder and write down the list of LNK files you have there. Maybe something is missing.
BTW: which PIM application are you using?
The .lnk folders showing in the Windows\StartUp folder are:
services - 29b
SpbBackupRunner - 51b
WisBarAdv - 65b
I am using SPB Pocket Plus v3.2.0 - Build 5561 as my PIM
Pete
Strange, just 3 LNK files there? But OK, try this...
Attached you can find ZIPed poutlook.lnk file.
Unzip and put "poutlook.lnk" into \Windows\StartUp\ folder.
Finally do soft-reset of your device and check if it helps or not.
Stranger and stranger....
the last list I posted was generated through Resco file explorer, but when I looked in the start ups folder via activsync the following list appeared...
btdwake - 25b
CapNotify - 27b
poutlook - 14b
sddaemon - 26b
services - 29b
SPBbackupRunner - 51b
WiFiInit - 26b
WisBarAdv - 65b
so I guess this means I dont need to put poutlook in there after all huh?
Any more thoughts please?
Cheers
Pete
Try this trick:
1. Go to Settings -> Power and set your device to NOT switch automatically off in <amount> minutes. The goal the to avoid the sleep mode into which the device is automatically put in after few minutes of innactivity.
It means, now your device will not go to sleep (display off etc.) automatically - we need it for our test. You can revert to current values after test.
Also note: not not switch the device off during tests (do not press Power button etc.)
2. Set the date to some date in the past e.g. to 10.1.2006 and the time to 23:45. Say OK and let say after 2 minutes do soft-reboot (restart).
3. The device will re-start and the time should be ca. 23:50. That's fine. Now wait (the device must not sleep still - don't forget, so do not switch it off etc.) until midnight i.e. 0:00 and better to 0:10 (10 mins. past midnight).
4. Now set the date back to NOW back, wait few minutes and do the soft-reset again. When you are back perform the last step.
5. Using some FileExplorer run following EXEcutables:
- CLOCKNOT.EXE located in \windows (hidden ROM file) - this will resync the clock with the CPU
- CALNOT.EXE in \windows (hidden ROM file) - this resync the calendar (and notification database)
6. Wait few minutes. Go to Settings -> Power and set your device back to switch automatically off in <previous value> minutes.
7. Pray.
Any progress?
Ok I finally found the time to sit down as you suggested and it works!!! I didn't have to do the run executables bit at the end as it all just seemed to work straight off, and I'm well chuffed.
Many Thanks
Pete
Fine, you are welcome.

[Q] Gps auto data delete

Hi. I'm a fun of yours work on Samsung Wave. I come here to ask if is possibile to create a program that automatically delete the gps+ data.
I have the JL2 unofficial fw on my Wave and I checked that, without a manual delete data + gps, they are not downloaded. It 's always necessary, any time, enter the secret menu (*#4097*4097#) and manually delete the data.
It would be possible to build a tool able to do this procedure automatically and, perhaps, start Route66 in the same time. In short, do everything with one click. With this settings the fix of our Wave will be always in the order of time of 20-30 seconds. It's possible in yours opinion?
Why do you need to delete any data? I've installed Sygic and i get a lock after about 10-20 sec ....

Is difficult to explain the situation. I use Ruote66 and fw JL2. I haven't a flat plan on phone and I use wap configuration. I think isn't a problem of Ruote66 but of the internal settings of gps. In my case, if I don't used the gps from a week, the fix is slow (12 min). I have active gps+ but the download doesn't run automaticaly if I delete gps data.

Becouse I buyed Route66. I want use it and not another software.
Question: Can you give me the fw in your Wave and the setting in secret menù of gps (*#4097*4097#)? My interest is for "gps type" and the value of "time - out" in the "application settings". Thanks
Time out - 60000
GPS Device-Type - HYBRID
I found that setting a timeout to 1000 worked a little better but effectively deleting the data gets it going more quickly. That is after setting up the system correctly in the first place.

I use this settings:
gps mode: standalone;
gps option: location+ velocity + altitude;
session type: tracking mode;
gps device - type; build - in;
data receive..: All;
time out: 60000 (change to 1000);
Horizzontal Accuracy: 1000;
Vertical Accuracy: 500;
I tryed to use the hybrid type of gps, but my apn doesn't support traffic of data. So I set built - in and it's ok if I delete gps data. Now, the most rational solution is waiting a new fw that, perhaps, will solve this problem but my idea is easy and can give to all those who use route66 an immediately solution.
So, there is anyone that can realise this application? Is possible?
Here's how I got mine working correctly. (effectively I finish with Nezmanpro's settings as well)
1. Dial *#4097*4097#
2. Choose 3-User setting
3. Choose 1-Assist Method Type then select AGPS. System will reboot.
4. When the phone boots and returns to idle mode (after entering pin and checking the SD Card) dial *#4097*4097#.
2. Choose 3-User setting
3. Choose 2-SUPL Setting and set the options as below
Use AGPS or NOT = On
MT-Auto Configuration = Off
SUPL MT-Response Type = Accept
Server Address Type = IP_ADDRESS
Server FQDN Type = Custom Config (this was originally BMC LIVE TEST )
SUPL Secure Socket = Off
Server IP Address = 74.125.77.192
Server Port = 7276
I then go back up to "Server Address Type" and set that to "HOST_NAME". I can then set Server Custom FQDN = supl.google.com
I think there's a bug here as the port should also be available when using a host name - when choosing host_name the port field is locked, that's the reason behind going back up and changing the "Server Address type".
Save this. then go into 4-Network Profile
4. Set the network to the one you use for your internet access, not the mms.
5. Check that in the PDR Setting all is checked.
6. Go back to the main menu of LBS Application then select 2. Application Setting
7. Set the following options:
GPS Mode = A-GPS CP Based
(See the following post for further info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729118)
GPS Option = Location+Velocity + Altitude
Session Type = Tracking Mode
GPS Device-Type = HYBRID
Date Recieve Type = All
Time Out = 1000 (like Nezmanpro)
Horizontal Accuracy = 100
Vertical Accuracy = 500
8. I then go back into User Setting
9. Back into Assist Method
10. Set Assist Method Type = GPS+
System will restart
11.When the phone boots and returns to idle mode (after entering pin and checking the SD Card) dial *#4097*4097# to get back to the LBS Application.
12. Go back into 3-User Setting
You'll see that SUPL settings are no longer present.
13. Go into GPS+ Setting and check that Auto Download = Enabled
14. Go back to the LBS Application menu then 6- DELETE GPS DATA
16. Happy navigation. Phew

Ok. But you must always manually delete gps data after this operation? I Knew that this operation was for functionally to have more speed to data download but my problem doesn't solve, becouse you must always delete gps data. Or not?
In order to get a fix quickly - ahem - in less than 3 minutes I need to delete the gps data.
Compared to a HTC hero I have the impression that the phone has no A in GPS.
the HTC hero locks in under 30 seconds the wave in under 3 minutes.

An application that auto deletes the gps data would fix this problem.
So the Wave does not use network assisted GPS? Then those Application settings in the GPS menu do not make sense other than the Standalone mode?

Having deleted the gps data this morning. I put the phone in 3G mode... gps lock in under a minute... I think YES the phone is capable of being assisted it's just that Samsung appear to have completely misconfigured and have forgotten to implement the gps data timeout :-(
definitely not something that would get past Steve Jobs....
i think we have nothing to do untill now except waiting a new firmware fixing this

Can't disable charging

I want to disable charging a battery while my phone is connected to my computer.
I found a solution and tried it but it didn't work at all.
1. Open any root file manager
2. Connect your mobile to the charger/USB
3. Open the following file: /sys/class/power_supply/battery/charging_enabled (It should be 1 by default)
4. Make it 0 while connected and save the file.
Does anyone know why it doesn't work?
And please let me know if you have a better idea.

Thanks for sharing this knowledge. I tried getting into Engineering Mode in Kia Sorento 2019 using this method and it doesn't seem to work. The local dealer installed Waze and a radio app on it so there must be a way to install other apps as well. Any idea of an alternative access method or what to try next?

It's terrible, I'm warning ⚠ you in my post
so you have 2 ways:
1. Hard: find a good radiomechanic or mobile phone fixer man and give your device to him and show this instructions https://www.drive2.ru/l/523031635092832690/
Than wait...
2. Easy: goes to hyundai dealer and said that "I woked up in the morning, got my, start the engine and saw hyundai logo... It's warranty!"
So, if I'm will be on your place - I'm choosed second way

Apk not compatible
Hi,
Thanks zavpasha for all the procedure !
Working as a driver, I wonder if an app like " uber driver" could run onto this tablet.
I did the test by launching the .apk and very quickly an error says the package is not compliant.
Versions of this app are available here:
www apkmirror com/apk/uber-technologies-inc/uber-driver/
Question: could it help to setup in developper + debug mode ?
Cheers

I did the test by launching the .apk and very quickly an error says the package is not compliant.
Versions of this app are available here:
www apkmirror com/apk/uber-technologies-inc/uber-driver/
Question: could it help to setup in developper + debug mode ?
Cheers

Nope, Uber needs newest Android version, so in our multimedia old Android 4.4.2
I have a 2015 Santa fe Sport ultimate package. Any hacks for this AVN system?

Unlock car multimedia system

I'm trying to find information about a multimedia system i have installed in my Skoda, the sticker on the device says CNT100, which is manufactured by CarNeTek (device page - https://www.carnetek.com.tw/products_detail/15.htm, not sure if they are the manufactures or just a reseller).
The company which sell and install it locally are not willing to share any information about the device, and of course are not willing to unlock it (to install applications from the play store, tweak configuration, etc.).
On the device there are 6 dip switches (which i couldn't figure out what they control), and no visible button (to get into recovery), i can get to the play store, and install applications - but as soon the installation is completed - they get uninstalled (there is a list of application that are not automatically uninstalled).
The launcher looks like a custom local version, there is no way to get into the settings page and the notification bar cannot be clicked (or dragged down), if i click multiple times on the menu - i get a dialog for some configuration, where i'm prompt for password (the dialog has a random number on it - which i suspect is used to generate correct password).
is anyone familiar with this device? or can suggest a way to unlock it?
(attached images of the device and the boot screen)
Hey mrtowel!
Trying to figure out that as well.
You said "if i click multiple times on the menu"
Where is this menu? possible to send a photo of that?
I'm talking about an Israeli version
Seems to be customized by [email protected]
sorry but i was wrong describing the way to get to the password dialog, on the home screen - there is a weather widget, showing the weather on the left side and the clock on the right side, multiple taps on the weather allows you to reboot the device, while multiple taps on the clock gets you to the password dialog.
I made some progress with the device - still working on getting it unlocked completely, let me know if you want more details.

Hey!
Just found that new to me. Pushed 6 times on the clock of the weather widget and got a prompt for the password. I receive a 9 digit number with that.
Also found that if you do the same on the temperature indication, you'll be prompt for device restart.
So that's a progress.
Anyways, I will be happy to hear from you, what progress you have made on this.
Will send you a PM.
Did someone have any success?

try to get to app store (in case it is installed) through one of the installed apps using the 'rate us' option, you can also try and push a play store link through bluetooth, if it works - the android system will launch the play store app, and you'll be able to setup your account.
Once you get to the play store - download and install Googel app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox&hl=en) this will let you ask google assistant to 'Open Display Settings' (in my case this option let me enable the drag down menu, where i could easily access the settings and other stuff).
hope that helps
?
Hey did you succeed?
please help
Hi
did any one of you had any success with getting into setting menu ?

Thanks for the tips I've made it to download youtube! But how I can bypass the limit to install all apps from play store?
Also how can I cancel the restrictions of using apps during drive?
Thanks
Allon
Hey @mrtowel any change you can share some more details?
I tried connecting to the USB with my laptop to try doing some adb commands but it did not detect anything
I'm also wondering about the dip switch
and how to get the password bypass
Would really like to hear some more details if you can share please?
Just came here to see if can recall my steps from last time i played with the device (i kind of gave up, as it worked well with what there is, but recent update made it work really slow).
turns out there is a post on facebook (https://facebook.com/groups/gilcar/permalink/729881061134680/?comment_id=729883497801103), i'm going to try and build some utility to generate unlock codes (last time, i managed to get to an adb terminal, but i wasn't aware of the `pm hide` option to disable the installation blocker ****).
will post updates here if i get some progress
For anyone interested, attached the list of whitelisted apps. a jar to generate the code to enable tech mode and how i disabled the installation blocker
For the jar - you would need to get your device Wifi MAC address (see old post from 2019 on how to enable the navigation bar), which can be retrieved from the 'אודות' section. (run the jar by running 'java -jar codeGen_jar.jar 00:11:22:33:44:55' - replace the numbers with your device mac address)
Wifi must be enabled - before the next step
To get to the code, hit few clicks on the clock widget in the home screen would prompt you with a password (if the code generator matches your version of connect-it (if it isn't - see bypass admin mode workaround below), the codes would match), enter the unlock code (admin mode result from the codeGen output) and move to the apps section - you would see 'tech mode' application.
Wifi must be connected before the next step
On the tech mode application - you would have another code (tech mode result from the codeGen) enter it - and it would open a page to enable adb remote server (you must be connected to a wifi network to get it to work).
Connect to the adb using a remote shell from another device (or a laptop), to the specified IP on port 1917 (note that most mobile tethering options won't work due to networking limitations). If you don't have an accessible wifi network - see Wifi Workaround below
From adb, run the following:
to disable the application which blocks installations: pm hide com.ituran.installationblocker
Disable updates: pm hide com.ituran.systemupdateservice
Disable blocking applications while driving: pm hide com.ituran.driveusagemonitor
Tips:
While in admin mode, you can see all installed applications, and pin them to the start page of the home screen, recommend to pin Play Store app (as it is usually hidden)
Don't try to enable or enter 'Guest mode' (i tried it, and the device went into boot loop)
The codes generated are date sensitive, so either generate new ones if you won't use them in the same day, or change the device date.
Wifi Workaround : a workaround can be to install modified version of 'Remote ADB Shell' (attached) on the device, save it to your mobile phone, and push it to the device through bluetooth, this version is the same version as 'Remote ADB Shell' from the play store - only names 'Spotify' which will keep it installed on the device, after installation, run it and connect to 127.0.0.1 on port 1917 instead.
Bypass admin mode workaround : while Admin Mode enables you to view the hidden applications, in the above process, it mainly gives you the option to run the tech mode app. if the code for the admin mode isn't working for you, install 'Amaze file explorer' (attached - it was renamed to bypass the installation blocker) by pushing it through bluetooth.
You can find more details on this facebook post (not mine - but i used details from this thread to figure out how to disable the application from ADB)
Enjoy and drive safely.
