Hey everyone I was just wondering if anyone else had any problems not being able to record video with their evos...taking photos work just fine but when switching to video mode the pressing of the record button does absolutely nothing and it freezes there inside the camera app. Once you can get back to the home screen seems like it is still running in the background and everything feels sluggish and heats up...only way back to normal is a reboot... I am using the stock rooted froyo Rom..any help would be great. Thanks
Stock kernel as well? Do you recall installing anything funky? Has it always been like that or start recently?
Sent from my phone.
Yes I'm using the stock kernel as well....if I recall correctly it was working in the beginning after I flashed it. But since I don't use my video camera much I'm just noticing it now not working...I don't think I have anything funky installed

Have you searched through the thread for the particular rom your using to see if anyone else running it is having similar problems. I would start there, hopefully your not the only one with issue. You can always do a complete wipe and try flashing the rom again, if that doesn't fix it, then it's not looking to good for you.

First I would try going into Home Button -> Menu Button -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All tab -> Camera -> Clear Data

The camera has stopped working randomly. The only thing I could think of that might of caused it would be the phone some how shut down when it was in my pocket. When I start up the camera app it immediately closes. When I attempt to use Google goggles, it says cannot connect to camera. What can I do?
First off you can give us some more details as to what software you are running. Are you on a stock Sprint ROM? A custom ROM? Did you install any software and then notice this change? Does this happen 100% of the time?
I'm running the stock 2.2 rooted odexed rom. Stock kernel. And haven't installed any new software to cause this...
I've cleared cache, dalvik cache, camera app's cache and it still doesn't work...
No one has any idea? Has this ever happened to anyone else?
It happens to me on both ava stock 2.2 and now netarchys 2.2... I have to wipe everything to get it back for a few hours... it just did it to me again do you have netarchys fps fix?

This is the craziest thing ever. The camera has returned to working after 10 hours of not working. I didn't do anything to get it to return. I will be continuing to monitor the camera to see if it happens again... This is the first time it has ever happen and the first time I've been on a 2.2 Rom for a significant amount of time.
This just barely happened to my phone too! Grrrr!!!
I'm running Fresh.02 + I tried flashing several kernels to see if it would fix it but none of them helped.
kernels I tried, latest versions of: kingX, snap, netarchy
Will try to do a full wipe and flash the stock 2.2 rooted w/o any fancy mods. <--- ok this fixed it!
Does installing the 3D Gallery app cause the Sense camera app to randomly stop working?
I'm getting the same problem again on a different ROM.
UPDATE: I've uninstalled 3D Gallery & cleared data on the Camera app and it still doesn't work.
i am having this same problem. have flashed several roms with no fix. cannot pin point when this happened either. really frustrating. ive done reboots, wipe, you name it.
happened to me

Hi guys
Any luck with this problem? I'm using a rooted xperia neo running [email protected] #2 with an unlocked boot loader - I've used Google goggles many times before and then today its coming up with "Cannot connect to camera. You may need to restart your device" and yet the camera is working because behind this pop up I can see the image that the camera is seeing. I've tried to take a screen shot of this but the screen shot uses the camera and therefore I blanks out the image through the back lens.
I've also uninstalled the app and reinstalled it - cleared all Dalvik cache - as well as moved it to SD and made it a system app - none of these trials have made any difference.

Are you sure there are no problems or known bugs with the rom you are using? Have you tried reflashing your rom? (it might be a pain to do, but something in the rom might have broke and it can help to start fresh).
I never post here but I have had a problem with my phone's camera that I fix by some random thread I found a while ago so I thought I would share what helped me. The thread stated it is something to do with the camera's connection to the phone and sometimes with drops or bumps of the phone it becomes loose. All I had to do was turn the phone face down, put my thumb over the camera and press down with some force. Not enough to break it but just to reseat the connection. After that, restart the phone. I have done this a few times and it has been successful ever time. I hope you guys have the same success.

That is correct, in some cases i have found the camera has come unseated. but it could also be the board.
Hey folks
I Have a Defy with Bayer module camera (yellow lenses). Got it like a month ago.
I'm running on the stock 2.1 Android and have installed quite a few apps, rooted the phone and installed 2ndInit on it, as I'm planning on installing some custom rom soon.
But... I noticed a very strange behavior now when I tried to use the camera - when I was waiting to see the real-time camera image on the screen, I just get a blank screen!
If i try to take a picture it works just fine, I can open the picture and see the image, but the real-time preview is always blank! It's like taking a picture blinded.
One app that let me particularly suspicious is DroidLight, used to just lit the flashlight.
Does anyone know what is happening to my defy? Is it software or should I send it to service?
When I turn the camera on it makes some noises, like "clicks". When I take the picture it may click too, I think it could be related to the lens focus. I don't recall hearing them before, but that could be just because I didn't paid attention.
Can someone help here??
Thanks!

No, I was using BootMenu as default (it was like that since I installed 2ndInit). Now I've changed to the normal boot as default, restarted again and still no image while using the camera.
What is supposed to be the right way?
anything I should try?
Uninstall 2ndInit? Wipe out caches, hard reset?
Guys, case solved.
I just deleted all data (on Manage Applications settings) from all the camera related softwares and did a soft reset. It works normally now.
Just the clicking during focus is worrying me. I can't remember if it was like that since I got it.
Yeah camera does make clicks noises when first opened so dont stress it
Yup, thanks zannyuk!
EDIT: i cleared camera data but i'd missed the part about "DO A SOFT RESET".
that solved it for me too

Glad it worked for you too.
But very strange still, I'm running the stock official 2.2.1 ROM here.
It happened again some other time and clearing data / soft reset did the trick again and now it is working fine for a couple of weeks.
Hi,
So I got my G Pad a little over a month ago and it was great. Now I've noticed that there's a delay between me pressing an on screen button and the option lighting up as confirmation that I've touched.
Can anyone help me fix it?

Hello..
If your tablet is still stock, I would do a Factory Reset.. BE AWARE if you choose to do that, you will ERASE EVERYTHING on your tablet.. And it will be as stock as it was when you took it out of the box.
If your tablet is rooted, you can create a backup of whatever ROM you are currently running and either reinstall it or try a different ROM to see how your tablet acts.
I don't think doing a simple Cache/Delvik wipe will resolve anything ( If you are rooted ).. it seems like you may just be out of memory/storage which will sometimes cause a device to lag when making inputs. The only other thing I can think of is, you recently installed an app that is really hogging resources and dragging your tablet down..
Be sure to come back and post your results based on what options you attempt to resolve this.. I'm curious to know what happens.
Thanks I'll try the factory reset
:good:
So I did a factory reset and it didn't make a difference I'm gonna deselect the option to restore everything to my tablet and see if that helps
I'm running Villuminati on my E4GT and I love it! It's super fast, running the Google Launcher is great, all around it's way better than the stock 4.1.2
I do have a few minor issues that I don't know if they are just me or if others are experiencing them as well. Intermittently, WIFI and DATA will both turn Orange when I open up my settings tab, and neither one will move any data unless I toggle airplane mode. I followed instructions on page 77 of the developers page and I'm on Virgin Mobile. It's not a terribly big deal because I can get it back, but if I didn't have to worry about it that would be even better. Is there a fix for this? Is anyone else experiencing it?
Also the camera seems quite a bit slower and takes grainier pictures than the stock. Again, not a deal breaker, but I was wondering if that's just how it's going to be or if there is an issue here. Thanks!

I am currently running VILLUMINATI-07292014-d710.zip (KK 4.4.4) with FL24 modem and I have not seen any issues with wifi/data. You may want to try out the latest version that just came out on 7/29 @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540250

Like @Luniz2k1 said. Plus did you wipe data, cache and dalvik? Did you dirty flash or clean flash? Have you tried reflashing the ROM?
I'm running the latest version of this now. No more wifi-data issues, I downloaded the Google camera app, and most things are improved. Only problem now is GoogleNow keeps popping up randomly and persistently. I think it might be related to Hangouts as every time I get a text and my phone is unlocked it pops up. My wife (same phone, same ROM) is having the same problem too. I wipe everything before I flash a new ROM too.

Good evening, just lately I have encountered a bug when trying to install APK's. When I go to install via Package Installer it will open up the screen and when I go to press next it doesn't do anything, I have tried rotating the screen and pressing Next and it just doesn't work whatsoever...
I powered off my device and powered back on and this seemed like it fixed the problem.
Is/has anyone else encountered this? I've also noticed ometimes when typing on the keyboard the sound goes tinny for 5 seconds or so and go back to normal, it's been like this since unboxing too.
I haven't had this issue exactly, but when I install a new app and it asks for permission to access my location/storage/etc.. I can't press Allow.. I can press Deny though no problem at all. Right now I'm manually going into apps/permissions and granting all my apps whatever I think it needs.. Just a pain to do it that way though!
I had this issue the other night. It seems an invisible overlay gets stuck sometimes. Not sure what app or why, but clearing all the recent apps fixed it for me. Try that if it happens again instead of waiting for the phone to restart.

Also had this problem two days ago and restarting seemed to fix it. I was disabling some of the stock apps at the time so I wondered if that had something to do with it but I don't know, don't think I re-enabled any of the apps or anything before or after the reboot and so far it's been working since.

Thanks for your feedback and I have also had that problem too. Of course yes we can go into app settings and enable and like you stated it's a pain haha. I know this isn't the place to point these problems out and get them fixed but it's nice to know I'm not the only one ??

I'd like to mention I have disabled and uninstalled quite a lot too, but I can't say if this adds to the problem. It'd just be really nice to hopefully get the new build of software that was recently announced on Xperia Blog but I can't say if this will fix the problems etc. I don't know? ??

I've experienced this issue as well and the culprit seemed to be an overlay permission from another app. As I'm sure everyone knows, this phone's screen is very bright even at it's lowest setting. I like to read at night and the light bothers my wife so I started using an app called Nightowl that further dims the screen. Nightowl produces a overlay that dims the entire screen. If i happen to be running nightowl and try to install the app, I can't tap install. Once I turn off the app I'm able to install like normal. Hope that helps lead you in the right direction as restarting the phone every time a problem presents itself is kind of a bummer.
