My text message button across the bottom of my screen has a green circle with a "1" in it to indicate I have an unanswered text message. Problem is, I don't have any texts showing up in my text lists that are unanswered. When I click on the icon it opens up my lists of texts. Normally new texts are shown in bold but I see no new texts or any shown in bold fonts. Lastly, if I touch the top of the screen to open up the notification screen I see "No New Notifications".
So how can I reset the text button back to normal?

Call me retarded but I just searched for fixunread.exe on this forum and the search results were crap. Couldn't find a live link to the file. Where can I get it?

Since you asked . . you're retarded . . . just kidding.
Here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6286965&postcount=2
I had to go to the 2nd or 3rd page of search results to find one with the desired file. Another good tactic when using any search engine, is trying various search terms/phrases (be more or less specific, use quotes to search exact phrases, etc.). For instance, searching "unread SMS count" yielded a valid hit, with the desired .exe in the very first result.

Thank you very much. I'll try it out this evening.
If you'd like a fix without installing a cab it can be done via the registry.. change all the following values to "0".
HKCU/system/state/messages/MMS/unread
HKCU/system/state/messages/SMS/unread
HKCU/system/state/messages/TotalEmail/unread
HKCU/system/state/messages/VMail/total/unread

As so many people keep asking the question how do I remove the XDA live text from the main screen , I thought I would put a quick how to page on how to do it.
If its not done in this order it may not be persistant.
Open PHM reg editor
Scroll to \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\DeviceBeta
Change the Value to anything you want or delete the today string to have no user text display on the today screen.
Then Power down Via the power button (not the reset switch).
Edited , Typo
The key is actually located in: \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\DeviceBeta
How do I remove the XDA live text from the main screen? I really have searched and can't seem to find the answer!
Sorry, Couldn't resist.................

You took the words right out of my mouth.
Well allthough I have been reading and posting on it since page 1 on that thread im sure some people are not trawling through the 37 pages otherwise they wouldnt keep asking ,
and swamping the thread which is for reporting only.
i got wm6 black and once i open SMS up..
the soft key on the left handside is "delete" i wanted to chante to "new"
can someone tell me how to do that please?
thanks.
This is asked for in another thread as well, but not answered I'm afraid. Seems like it's hardcoded in tmail.exe, so there's no way to change it like a normal softkey or in the registry or something.
The delete button is bugging me as well...
I have been searching for this in the registry but i can't find it. I want to change this softkey to new as it used to be in WM5, as it easier to press the softkey then go through the menus while in the car.
If any of the gurus out there can help out on this one..........................
There is a work around with this, if you use the softkey changer and apply one of your soft keys in the today screen to New SMS it will take you directly to a new SMS message. I don't you will find the solution that you are looking for without alot of trial and error. This might help in the mean time.
As Video calling has been disabled in the new WM6 Roms i have used the Video calling button on the Uni as the 'new' key which does get me around but its still so annoying where i am so used to pressing this button when looking at other messages to create new messages and now when i press it it asks if i want to delete the txt.
New SMS Short Cut
I dont know if this helps but I thought I would throw it out there. I was looking for the same thing. Here is a link on how to create a short cut for New Sms.

Yes., it's annoying. But what is really amazing is the utter twat that came up with this change and the equally dumb twats that said "Good idea! Let's do it". Really.
hey mike thanks for posting that little shortcut.

Your Welome!
I agree that it's frustrating that they changed the key to delete. I personally delete very few messages, and if I do I delete a whole batch of them in one go, the new button is one which I use MUCH more than delete.
Anyway, I was wondering if you might be able to help me with another issue which I'm having. When I open a message (email or text) it jumps down to the bottom of the page. Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just me?

This is asked for like 100 times, just use the search function on this beautiful forum, and your answer will be served right at your computer monitor
it's D-pad option in Pimp i enable.
Turn it off and it will fix that issue..
it shoudl be under the IE tab...

My guess is that this was a customer-driven change requested by some of the huger Windows Mobile customers.
I'm not sure what is your background, but I am a "corporate type" and I receive about 100-200 messages per day in my Activesync inbox. I usually reply to messages rather than writing new ones.
I use the Delete key MUCH more frequently than the New key so this is a welcome change for me. Most messages are FYIs or system notification messages, or long threads (and I can read just the last message in the thread and then toss all earlier messages).
Have you changed the size of your scroll bars? if so change them back to default (13) i think.

Here's another preformatted shortcut. I found the one attached by Mike in post #6 just opened my Inbox. It was easily modified using the link he provided, but for the lazy ones among us! This one opens a new (blank) SMS, tested on my Exec running Jwrightmcps Crossbow ROM Update 2.02.02 WWE.
Unzip the file, and copy it to wherever you want on your device.

This only start the messaging application and go into the SMS view.
It doesn't start a new SMS ; at least not with my Schap's ROM with SMS/MMS combined.
EDIT: Works with the new .lnk file ; Thanks !
Thank you Mike the link to the Modaco site was the solution I was looking for. I created that sms.lnk shortcut and then assigned it as a softbutton on my today screen, now with one click I have a blank SMS ready for sending. Works like a charm.
I could not find any threads about PocketCM, although that seems very strange to me so I must be missing them.
Until then, here are my few questions:
1. Can i add, or is there a version with, an x button in it? I can't close the app without taskmanager.
2. When writing a text, even if i have the keyboard out, the SIP automatically pops up when i start writing. Can i disable this?
Thanks.
I noticed pocketcm threads at development and hacking...maybe some luck there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=260
You should also try his website at www.pocketcm.com. As for the x-button, the latest version has it, and in that version you can also select "No SIP" which will solve your second problem.

Awesome thanks for the quick help guys.
Haha i knew there was a thread somewhere.
Better get my eyesight checked
I've using my NG for a week now and still trying to figure out how to copy/paste.
I see the check mark come up when I highlight text but I can't figure out how to get the text to copy. I tap the check mark but doesn't seem to do anything.
Any good YouTube videos or anything that show how to do this?
It's not the check mark you want, next to the words "select all" you'll see an icon that looks like two pages, clicking that will show a dialogue at the bottom of your screen saying, "text copied to clipboard". Pressing and holding again will give you the option to paste.
Thank you , feel pretty dumb now.
Or just simply tap highlighted text again ....

Don't be. I had the same problem myself. It's a crappy system. Moreover good questions like this create a good reference for new users moving forward.
There are no such things a stupid questions or feeling dumb, just learn from your mistake or the hole in your knowledge and try to pass on what you know the next time someone else needs help.
I had exactly the same issue finally figured it out after my third attempt at copying from a browser window!
I wish there was an easier way to scroll the cursor around tho, i miss the trackball on my N1. They really should add a popup onscreen wheel onto the keyboard.
Off topic sorta, but I was just reading an article where one of the Cons of Android vs iOS is that Android doesn't have system wide Copy/Paste.
I lol'd
i'm not able to cut and paste from within tweet deck like I could on my Gingerbread. Quite frustrating
Theres a manual that covers all such essentials.
Get it by googling "samsung galaxy nexus" to go to googles official site for the phone, click register, bung in your email and they will send you a link to the manual.
The manual that should have come in the box IMHO!!
I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I don't see the manage attachments button under the text field. I searched the FAQ, but could not find if there is some post limit/minimum before being able to do this?

You have to select edit, then select advanced edit. That should be what you're looking for.
Sorry, I'm not seeing edit or advanced edit buttons under the text field. I see Post Icons, Image Verification, and then Submit Reply & Preview Post. I tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer, even turned off ad blockers.
I just realized, you meant edit an already existing post. What I am trying to do is attach a file to a post/reply.

If you click on the reply button, it will open a new screen allowing you to write your post, above the text field you will see lots of buttons, don't you see this "manage attachment" button in this create post screen like shown in my screenshot?
The UI may differ depending on the used theme of course.
No that button is missing for me. Tried to attach a screen shot, but it won't let me do that either (only put in a URL). Tried on mobile device too, and that button is not there.

This attachment feature is not present for members below 10 posts but you are above this limit so it should be there, I don't understand. Some ideas of tests:
- wipe cache of your browser
- try Google Chrome
- try another xda theme
- wait 24h or 48h and it may be fixed by itself
- or if still not working we may need admin assistance

I've no experience with IE but I'd the same issue quite a while ago on FF when I used the add-ons uBlock Origin and NoScript. For this reason, I've created an own profile for FF to use XDA.
