Hi,
Im using JP§ and would like to root to use the lag fix...
now there is no one click method and I found this one:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showpost.php?p=47625300&postcount=979
Does anyone successful rooted with this and do I lost any data by rooting this way?
How can I only flash the kernel?
Thanks so far
I have rooted my SGS with JP3 second metod (from hardwarezone) and it working good. After rooting I use Lagfix 1.80 and all working fine

What is the scond method and how I flash kernel (dows the data stays)?
I think what that is getting at is to flash the JP2 kernel, root it, then flash the JP3 kernel. You wont lose any data as if you did this method would not work. However I have not tried it myself
if You have JP3 now, just do what is in instruction - flash jp2 kernel, then root, then jp3 kernel. Data will stay
There is allready a rooted JP3 ! 03/August r2 - XXJP3 (Froyo) pre-rooted / insecure boot / ClockworkMod recovery for Odin - http://android.modaco.com/content/s...insecure-boot-clockworkmod-recovery-for-odin/
But i don't now if you can apply any fixes . I didn't tryed yet to see if it accepts any other patches.

Fine but how I flash only kernel? Thx
load under PDA in Odin and nothing more (without PIT, and CSC, MODEM, repartition etc.)
It's the same instructions I used to root my JP3 which I've been running happily without any lagfix, however I've recently noticed a lag in swype when i highlight a word and press the swype button it takes about 5 seconds to bring up the list of alternatives words, anyone else getting this?
What lag fix have people tried on this and does it really make a difference in everyday use? Finally anyone got clockwork recovery working on this yet? I get a verification error at bootup as it tries to load the updade.zip.
Thanks all
I have lagfix 1.80 but in daily use I don't know if it doing a lot. And I have same problem with ClockworkMod
I did it like in the thread but the superuse apk wont work it always crashes...

Using Odin 3v 1.85 with all the drivers installed and using twrp and cwm .
Now i cant find the Super User app any more.
I can get to recovery, but dont have super user. I read this happens if the phone was upgraded to the latest firmware before upgrading.
No fix for this yet?
Thanks mate

Use that method for rooting. Instead of flashing the root.zip he has, I flashed the kernel he posted about at **update** and then installed SuperSU. Works great.
Will try now, thanks again
Since you already have a recovery you can get to you can probably just flash that kernel. If you can't find su just flash SuperSU again.
Didn't work, It does everything right but i still have the same issue that can't find SU.
I wonder if i can do this like he posted there....I'm about to try desperates measurements....
ou can flash back to the May 7th OTA boot.img using the entire firmware, or you can flash it in a zip.
If you have a recovery, just flash a rom from development thread. They all have root access. Wicked recommended.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have many app ideas, but don't have the skill or the time to learn how to make an app. if you would like to know an idea and attempt to make one, just message me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Phone: Tmobile Samsung Galaxy s4 m919
Rom: Wicked v2
Kernel: Stock
Radio: Stock
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was reading about it just now,,,,just want to make sure everything works in that rom like it should before. 7 hours today on this is caving in my brain,,,,thanks
So you flashed supersu after flashing the kernel and it didn't work?
If you don't want to try a rom yet I guess you could Odin back to stock and start over. At least you know what you need to do now.
THANKS, I'M ABOUT TO FLASH SU FOR THE LAST TIME AND IF IT DOESNT WORK,,,,WICKED IS DOWNLOADING NOW....tHANKS AGAIN GUYS,,,,WILL REPORT
Ok, I just flashed wicked 2....Letting the phone seat for a while and after it's all done will let you know if su is working, thanks
It all works like a CHARM, Su is there and thanks a lot. I hope this helps some one else too
Hello, I have unlocked my bootloader and tried to root by hotbooting into the Doomlord Kernel with 6.0.4.6 CWM Recovery and installing the zip for SuperSU / Koush Superuser (tried both and the result is the same for either).
The problem is that the SuperSU/Superuser app will work fine and seems to grant access to read files in areas you normally need root for to read (eg data/data), however, if I try to delete a system app (like Facebook) with any root File Explorer after mounting system R/W it will fail to delete. I also cannot install things like Busybox using stericsson's tool as it will just fail. Other root apps like System cleanup do not delete either.
I did not have this problem in the 4.3 build (though I used the Docomo method with locked bootloader here).
Any ideas? Something to do with the SELinux??
You need to use the kernel, not hot boot it, reverting to the stock kernel is why you're having issues.
Thanks! That did the trick. I assume this must be a Sony-specific thing requiring some specific kernel changes? Perhaps I am mistaken, but I thought I remembered being able to hotboot Nexus devices and just root by flashing the Superuser zip.
Actually, there IS a way to hot-boot into CWM recovery with a custom kernel and then obtain root on your stock firmware/kernel. The problem is caused by Sony's RIC security feature which denies access to writing the /system partition, meaning that you only get a partial root . Solution involves running a command at every boot : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53085489&postcount=225
Hello,
I've tried to root my Galaxy Note 2 GT N7100 (KitKat 4.4.2) [original, NO custom ROM or CWM]
with
CF-Auto-Root-t03g-gtn7100.tar.md5
via ODIN
as shown in several tutorials.
All seemed passed ok, nothing obviously went wrong, SuperSU appears in the app drawer.
BUT
If started, SU has been be stopped, Root Checker says, the system is very slow and the phone is NOT rooted (properly).
Updating SU via PlayStore is NOT possible, only to deactivate.
Counter is on 1, Triangle away and other system apps don't work, because the phone isn't really rooted
Wipe data also is changing nothing.
So I've now a NON-rooted phone with the counter on 1, updates via OTA were denied, by reasons seen above.
What can I do? Could 'GalaxyNote2Root' be an option?
Ohh, THX for you fast reply!
Does
openrecovery-twrp-2.7.2.1-t03g.img
match?
Or alternative: cwm6-root-note2, but this is old (2008)
I tried rooting my N7105 LTE last night and think I am having the same problem mate, hopefully someone can help!
Most important question: Why do you want to root your device?
If you want to run custom roms, forget about root cause you only need a custom recovery (best the recommended one for the rom) flashed with Odin.
Then you can flash any rom you want through this recovery and most of them are pre-rooted, so :good:
Only if you want to be rooted with stock rom I will try to guide you.
Only to prevent KNOX to deny access to the external card and run some apps, which need SU-rights, e.g. Titanium- / efs- Backup and so one.
At last to make TC working again. This app makes the phone freezing (superSU cannot start and hangs).
Thanks for yor reply.
One way to do it:
Flash custom recovery through Odin and afterwards latest SuperSu.
After bootup the app will deactivate Knox.
EDIT: I have not tested, cause I make my own rooted base-roms, so I hope it will work for you.
I can provide you such a base
Hello there,
I come from a Jailbroken iphone 5 on is 8.1 (which is broken now), and moved to a Galaxy S4 Mini Duos I9192 on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 with XXUBNB1. I'm really a newbie on android and would like to root my phone.
SRSroot didn't work, neither Kingo App (1.3.3) that put me into download mode for an undetermined time, I was afraid to brick it, so I stopped it.
I've also tried TowelRoot, but it does'nt work with Jelly Bean 4.2.2
I'd like to try CF AutoRoot, but I'm not sure that it will work with my baseband XXUBNB1.
There's an alternative: the Rootkit one, but i've read somewhere, that it messes the wifi and the GPS.
I don't know how to choose/Flash/Modify/Find Kernels.
I never used Odin neither.
I really really don't care about Tripping KNOX, and voiding warranty, because Samsung-Algeria does'nt control it at all.
So, my question is:
Is there an easy/stable method to root my phone on 4.2.2? a One-click-Root Tool will be OK.
Thank you so much for your answers in advance.
SEARCH PLEASE. For god's sake.
In this thread is all you need for first root and recovery:
Hi, I'm not a newbie in Forums, I'm an admin of a 60.000 member medical Forum, I'm only a newbie in the Android World ... and I'm always repeting the same sentence of yours : Please Use the search button before asking.
Well, I've - of course - searched here and found This link, but nowhere it's said that it's for Jelly bean 4.2.2.
Plus, somepeople said that Wifi and Gsm signal (unable to detect mobile signal) issues are happening with this method (if you're presuming it, working with 4.2.2)
Other reported that this method will not work with my baseband: XXUBNB1.
That's why I asked my question in a precise way : I want to root, and have a fully fonctionnal phone
Whatever... What do you guys think about this method, should I trust it or not? thanx for being kind
Hi, thanx for your reply, I found this link, but not sure if it will work, i'll try it if someone confirm if once rooted, the phone is still working correctely. I don't know if there are some bugs like Wifi issue or GPS, GSM signal, and stuff like that...
Anyone can confirm its safety for XXUBNB1 on 4.2.2 please?
Yes it's completely safe, but as I said use latest recovery by arco and that rootkits v3, remember you must boot recovery on first reboot after flash.
Best way is to hold the phone ready to push home+vol up once the phone vibrates, then flash rootkit.
By the way this method will trigger Knox (voiding warranty) if you're on Knox bootloader, if your download screen has the word knox 0x0 your bootloader is knox.
Hmmm, I'm really hesitating.
What if I upgrade my phone with Odin to Kitkat 4.4.2, then root it with CF AutoRoot from ChainFire... ? is it Doable? Does CF Autoroot working with all firmewares? Will My baseband change (does it even matter?)
Here is a list of Stock Firmewares, whichBuild should I pick?
Thanks again
Hello,
1- I used the Rootkit V3 (SCRAB) and the CWM recovery 6.0.5.1 on JB 4.2.2
2- Now I'm rooted, but I can't update Su Binary, and I have multiple notification about some apps I gave the root permissions.
3- I've Renamed the 3 KNOXfiles and the ContainerAgent file with the ADB shell.
4- Reflashed the Rootkit v3 like Scrab said
The same problem remains: no SU binary update + multiple notifications + apps requiring root not working at all.
5-Also The KNOX disabler apk 1.01 didn't work!
Shoud I replace CWM recovery with Philz touch recovery, and Re-root it, and if yes, how shoud I do it.
Unrooting through Supersu (already updated) does'nt work at all.
Can I back to my stock firmeware JB 4.2.2 or upgrade to a Kitkat 4.4.2 ? and how.?
Or should I put The most stable Custom Rom through CWMRecovery? which one? a link please?
My phone is really unstable and my apps are not working correctely. I won't root again ever ever ever...
I need to fix this quickly, thanks in advance please.
Try to force close the knox notification then open supersu
Well,
I finally resolved the problem:
Here's what you can do to avoid KNOX Disturbing your Root process on an I9192:
1- Install CWM and Root it with RootKit v3 by scrab just like in his tutorial.
2- Disable Knox application .apk and .odex by renaming them using ADB shell, just like in his tutorial.
3- Install the latest i9192 Philz touch Recovery through CWM Recovery, and reboot in recovery mode, you'll be in the menu of your new Philz touch Recovery
4- Reinstall Rootkitv3 via Philz Touch Recovery
5- Without quitting Philz Touch, Re-root the device.
6- reboot normally, and install a fresh supersu directely from the playstore.
7- Updating the binary will success
8- You're done
Now my device is stable and normally rooted (checked with Root Cheker)
I hope it helps
My knox was not tripped.
Highly recommend to have a odin firmware!
Recommend to update to PB2, BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP may delete everything.
A not much has been said in the thread, yes after Odin flashing the ENG kernel for our device and flashing a root script we can use rooted apps. @metalcated*posted a script that does push SuperSU into system/. This was originally posted in the AT&T GS6 forum. It's a potentially complicated process and if your phone shuts off, battery dies or you hard reboot you will be stuck in a bootloop, hotbooting works fine for Xposed. Will this method be practical for everyone probably not, but considering we were told the device was unrootable........
Read thru his thread, then read it again, seriously do this. And if you still want to try, backup everything you can just in case you need to reflash via Odin to recover from a bootloop. Here were my steps.
1. Yes this needs to be flashed before the process begins, the script wont run with the stock kernel.*
Here's a link to the eng kernel. Download and extract. Yes flash via ODIN, add the kernel file to the AP slot.*
http://www.mediafire.com/?2i5aeu6pr0ms7io
2. The only file I downloaded and used was this one:
http://www.mediafire.com/?m0b639pfnavjmha
(G920a5.1.1.root.metalcated-v4.zip)
3.Save it and extract it on your PC
4. Verify Samsung drivers and adb are installed
5.***ENABLE USB DEBUGGING*** this is an important step.*
6. Plug device into PC open file and run root script. It'll prompt you to press enter a couple of times and reboot the phone. Just follow the on-screen instructions.
7. After it reboots you have root access.
Root apps that work for me: Titanium backup/root explorer/build.prop editor/no frills.
I was able to delete all Knox apps and debloat the heck of the stock ROM. At no point did my device freeze, reboot on its own.
Let's work on bootloader unlock so we can flash custom rom, kernel and recoverys.
Thanks to Michael3214 for finding the method.
I have tried this with no luck. It seams to be something in the kernel that's preventing untethered reboots so far. We can use this root to unlock bootloader with someone who is good enough.
