I've been out of the loop for a while.
I see the latest version of SkyRaider, 3.2 available and am wondering what are the pros and cons (if any) when upgrading from 2.5.2?
I see alot of people having problems with the Wireless Tether app when running 3.0 or above. I've had problems with it since upgrading to 2.5.2 so much that I already stopped using it and switched to EasyTether so that isn't a concern.
Also, are there any upgrades needed (such as radio or other) before wiping and installing 3.0?
Any info and opinions are much appreciated.
Thanks.
I'm using the newest Skyraider vanilla Rom, and my tether app is working great. This Rom seems to have no issues.

Does it do anything that 2.5.2 doesn't?

cool!.......
owh hell yeah thanks arnoslag!
first report I've received from the field, saj222 says "it boots!"
that's all I know so far...
Thanks for the port Arnoslag!
Yes it booted. After it settled down I ATTEMPTED to install Fly kernel 13, but the phone didn't boot up afterwards. I installed Las Venturax 0.6.2 and everything was fine again.
Some observations (in no particular order):
-camera seems to sort of work. I got a FC when trying to take a picture. Did not try video.
-during syncing of gmail account the phone was very slugglish but this was expected
-removed all the sense widgets except the flip clock and it seemed to help speed up the ROM's responsiveness... as did turning off animations. edit: I removed the flip clock too. edit#2: I used setcpu to crank up the min and max to 652MHz and it has helped the unlock ring and general usage. ring unlock is still a little laggy.
-wifi works fine, so does 3G data
-have had a couple of superuser FC's when going into setcpu
-in one instance I received a phone call and hung up after 4 seconds. The phone got really slow and then I got a sense FC which made sense restart.
-whatever version of market is on this ROM is slow
-there is no web browser included in this ROM
~~~~~~~~~~~
edit: was trying to download Gmaps from the market over wifi when market hung and gave me an FC for com.android.mms
u think is it possible to revert back to older Market? the newer Market seems slow on loading, probably heavy on graphics..
i've mirrored the rom on my server here.
the camera can take a pic, but have no zoom function. weather animations seems lacking its animation(like fog animation, cloudy animation). only rain animation is visible(well, my place won't snow, it's near equator).
I'm offering free hosting for your rom and you made a affiliate link for it ?
Greetings!
As many of you know, G-Lite has been overdue for an update for some time now. There have been 2 T-Mobile OTA updates that G-Lite users haven't been able to take advantage of... until now.
After speaking with rmk, he's decided to allow me, tun4f1sh, to take over G-Lite development. I've rebased the ROM and cooked up a new kernel, and things are running OH-SO-SMOOTH. Here's all the stuff you'll need to know:
General info: G-Lite is a departure from other Virtuous ROMs in that it is effectively AOSP and designed to be lightweight, yet functional. If you find yourself discarding most of the features of Sense in favor of specific apps of your preference, this ROM is for you.
Features
Supported on the G2 and DesireZ only.
Minimalistic, lightweight ROM with +200MB of memory free at startup.
/system and user partitions partitioned and aligned with ext4.
Extremely battery efficient (dare I say, the BEST battery life of any Vision ROM?).
Based on Vision_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.16.531.5, HTC's take on AOSP.
All device hardware fully functional, including wifi, bluetooth, camera, camcorder, etc.
Advanced power menu options (reboot/recovery)
Virtuous OC Daemon and memory optimizations.
Kernel 2.6.35.13 Vision Gingerbread kernel. Do NOT use AOSP kernels with this ROM (e.g. Pershoot, Cyanogen).
Market-sourced applications (Gmail, Maps, Voice, etc) automatically installed on first boot into /data/app for easy removal.
Replaced stock Gingerbread launcher with LauncherPro.
Wifi-Calling conditionally installed for US T-Mobile users.
Bloatware and unnecessary applications removed.
Rooted, deodexed.
All applications zipaligned on boot.
Trackpad wake fully supported.
Changelog
2.0.1
Code:
- Fixed installer script syntax error that was causing user preferences not to be applied. It was also causing extraneous data to be left behind possibly causing system instability (including notification bar lockups)
- Added option to use the "experimental" kernel compiled from MDJ's source (the kernel from 1.0.7).
- Create a "use_experimental_kernel" file in your /virtuous_glite directory to use the experimental kernel.
- The experimental kernel offers you more frequencies to overclock with, and has more features/functionality built into it (at the cost of stability/battery life in some cases, YMMV). See MDJ's github for more information on what's included.
2.0.0
Code:
- New kernel based more closely on HTC's source, and the original G-Lite kernel by rmk.
- Kernel changes:
- Rebased on HTC's original source (previously I used mdj's source)
- Fixed USB mounting (broken in HTC's source, was working with mdj's)
- Reduced Wifi voltage slightly
- Call volume levels slightly boosted
- Source: https://github.com/tun4f1sh/virtuous-kernel-7x30-gingerbread
- Screen on: ondemand 245->998
- Screen off: conservative 245->368
- Added "Reboot" and "Recovery" options to the shutdown menu (long press the "power" button)
- Create a "disable_apm" file in your /virtuous_glite directory to opt out of the feature and use the stock framework.
* NOTE: If you used UOT kitchen to theme the ROM, you'll need to redo your theme or opt out of APM as I've made framework changes.
- Replaced Mms.apk from TMO base with one compiled from AOSP. This resolves all MMS being converted to a slideshow.
- Replaced "4G" status icons with "H" icons.
- Create a "use_4g_icon" file in your /virtuous_glite directory to revert back to the 4G icons.
- Updated Market apps
- Removed all traces of Swype. Install it from their website if you want it.
- Removed some extra bloat from /system/app (~10mb)
- Removed htc_ebdlogd from /system/bin (Just to be safe, not sure if it has malicious/intrusive capabilities)
v1.0.7
Code:
- Fixed automatic mobile data connectivity (APNs) for international users.
- Included CM7 sensor driver (should resolve capacitive/qwerty backlight issues)
- SD Card read ahead set to 4096
v1.0.6
Code:
- EFS partition wiped during ROM flash (this should always be done when switching ROMs, just automating it to make your life easier)
- Added conditional trackpad wake (create "disable_trackpad_wake" file in your /sdcard/virtuous_glite directory to opt out of the feature)
- Fixed notification on LED not functioning (thanks cswroe for the tip)
- Added CM Tones, changed default from lame Tmo jingle :)
v1.0.5
Code:
- Fixed USB
- Fixed Camera
- Added ext4 support
- Added CM7 APN list
- Other fixes and things :)
v1.0.4
Code:
- Rebased on the latest T-Mobile US OTA 2.16.531.5
- Kernel patched up to version 2.6.35.14 (sources [url]http://goo.gl/yYUn7[/url], defconfig [url]http://goo.gl/VLfvV[/url])
- Market applications, superuser updated
- Zipalign script/binary added (thanks Darky, tsubus)
Customizing the ROM
By creating any combination of the following files (in bold) (contents do not matter) on your sdcard in the /virtuous_glite directory (create it if it does not exist) will allow you to customize the ROM to your liking. Once the files are in place, simply flash the ROM, and your settings will be picked up by the install script and your ROM will be customized accordingly. These preferences will persist between upgrades and re-flashes of the ROM.
use_stock_launcher - override the use of Launcher Pro in favor of the stock GIngerbread launcher.
disable_trackpad_wake - opt-out of trackpad wake feature
disable_apm - opt-out of advanced shutdown options (restart/recovery) and use stock framework.
use_4g_icon - use the "4G" (marketing) icon instead of the "H" icon.
use_experimental_kernel - use the older kernel (last seen in version 1.0.7) that's compiled from MDJ's source (with a few of my own fixes). This kernel allows more frequencies for overclocking, as well as some other features that MDJ has merged in. See his Github for more information. (Not supported)
Patches
Patches should be flashed via recovery after the ROM.
Desire-Z Physical Keyboard Patch - Flash this if you find that your physical keys aren't mapped correctly. Thanks to revolution48
Please don't forget to hit "thanks" and rate the thread high if you enjoy the ROM!
Disappointing..
I just finished doing a complete wipe via CWR, flashed the ROM and have been using it for the last couple of minutes.
tun4fish, I am very much thankful for your work and pushing for G-Lite to getting its much needed update. With that being said, I am by no means whining about the things I'm about to post below, but just small things I came across already and I thought maybe this would be considered feedback and to help towards that original G-Lite feel to it. Much thanks for your work!
- Just like in the previous version, the power control widget is usable only after applying to a homescreen and rebooting.
- Some bloatware that was removed in 1.0.3 seem to have made a comeback in this version. Such apps included are Setup and News and Weather. Nothing that Titanium Backup can't fix, but still.
- Battery indicator is AOSP, while 1.0.3 had a different mod (I have no idea who it belongs to)
Again, thank you very much for making me a happy camper with my G2 all over again. Your work is much appreciated.
erichung, for confirmation sakes, there is no extended settings. Sorry
Well well it's nice to see this I have been waiting quite awhile. Many thanks for taking over the project. I can't wait to get this installed and give it a spin.
Nice to hear there's an update . Does anyone know if the build in FM radio is supported in this ROM? The previous G-lite didn't. Thanks....
Does not seem to support ext4 like previous version.
I proudly present to you...... Mi-Roid
Mi-Roid is my port of the crespo MIUIAndroid weekly build with many additions, tweaks and mods added together for a great user experience. If there’s something you'd like added in feel free to post or pm me
For those of you wondering what Miui is.... that is a hard thing to describe but in a genreality it is a complete rebuild of android based on AOSP from the ground up. It has a build in theme manager that makes Cyanogen's look like childs play, you can change almost any little thing instead of applying an entire theme or you can apply an entire theme. It has build in virus scanning, autostart app control, flashlight app and all the goodies of cyanogen or other AOSP roms but in a whole new fashion. It is sort of IPhoneish but still feels like android not some apple product. If you dislike the launcher feel free to download any of your standard favourite launchers and use them, it'll free up some memory too.
Check out this video showing what Miui is
A few of my favorite features are listed below:
**While on the lockscreen if you press and hold home the flashlight will turn on for 30sec
**While on the homescren if you long press home the memory manager comes up to clear/free up memory
I plan on updating by Sunday night or Monday morning following the friday release of each weeks build. This will give me a few days to make sure the basics are working and to try and add features as i work a lot during the week and weekend gotta survive this cruel world somehow
If you have issues or questions please post them up here as someone may be able to help you on the forum before i check my PM's or get online to read/post.
Please Read the rest of this post and the ones below it for all info regarding issues and install before asking a question, i know it's pointless to ask this but maybe it'll save me one headache and at least one noob a thrasing from the senior members.
Previous Builds - will be posted soon
Install and Setup Directions Below in 2nd Post
Common Issues, Solutions and FAQ in 3rd Post
I advise doing a complete wipe for each build and not "dirty" flashing each weeks new build as this could cause issues.
If you are already running Miui you can also use the included backup tool to backup your apps and data, beware that this app does not backup paid for apps, so for example it will backup Titanium Backup but not the Pro Key so you'll have to download some apps via the market again
**Install Instructions***
1) Use Titanium Backup to backup your apps and data
2) Download the latest Mi-Roid version and place at the "Root" of your SD Card
3) Boot into Clockwork or whatever recovery you use and make a backup
4) Do a complete wipe, this would be your dalvik cache, cache, data, system, & boot.
5) Select the Install zip from SD option
6) Select the latest Mi-Roid version you just downloaded
6a) ***Optional*** Install Kernel Of Choice
7) Once install is completed reboot the system and let it boot up
8) After the system has booted up you can reboot into Clockwork and restore your data
***** BEWARE THERE IS A 30 SECOND TO 1 MINUTE LONG BLACK SCREEN BEFORE THE MIUI.US BOOT IMAGE COMES ON. THIS IS NORMAL, JUST WAIT A MINUTE AND YOU'RE BOOT UP WILL START****
***Things to do Upon 1st boot***
-Open MiuiStats from the pulldown and save the preferance to enable reporting, this lets Miui know we're using their ROM and to keep making it for us
-Open the Download Manager and go into the Settings and set the warning limit to 50mb and then turn off the Data download prompt to stop the market not letting you download huge apps. it will only give you a warning to use wifi on files over 50MB, but if uncheck the download on wifi only button and click proceed it'll download even those.
-Open the Play Store and sign into your Google Account
-While everything is Syncing open up Settings and select your google account. Select the option "Location &Settings" and turn it on. This will allow Google Maps and all other Google Services to use GPS for location locks, if you don't do this then GPS will work for all other apps but Google ones
-Open the Permission Manager, this is Superuser for Miui, and click on Manager root apps and turn it on or else your apps won't get superuser permissions. there is a series of 4 or 5 questions it asks before you click accept to root access on apps, so beware.
-Download the following apps
- Voodoo Sound
- Script Manager - this is for supercharging
-Open the Camera as the 1st start up takes a few seconds to a minute to initialize and sometimes it will fc and you'll need to open it again and wait
-Reboot into Clockwork, fix permissions, and Enjoy MI-Roid
****Optional**** Open Script Manager and supercharge your phone - see the FAQ for some important info on supercharging do's and don'ts
-Reboot and Enjoy MI-Roid
I'll post more as i think about it and get to the FAQS section below later tonight and i have screen shots too, just very tired from porting the toolbox and work this weekend
*****FAQS******
Q) What Kernel Is Included with this Rom?
A) Matrix CFS v24
Q) Do I need to flash gapps over this?
A) Nope, the google account framework is included as well as the latest PlayStore.apk, just download whatever apps you want from the Play Store. However here is a link the latest GAPPS working on Miui
Q) When I Send A Text Over 160 characters the reciepient gets a garbled message
A) This won't happen anymore because i modified the app to convert a sms to an MMS as soon as you hit the 160 character limit
Q) How Do I Supercharge My Phone
A) Go here to and download the latest version from zeppelinrox's thread, be sure to thank him too. Once you have downloaded the latest v6 script place it at the "Root" of your SD card. Open up script manager, be sure to give it root access. Select the v6 supercharger scipt and mark the little su icon to run it as su. Click on run, and follow the on screen instructions.
*****This is very important, when setting up your drivers options, do not, i repeat DO NOT select to apply the "Miscellaneous Tweaks & 3G Enhancements", a better version of these are in my init.d scripts!!!!! You also don't need to apply the wheel alignment either as that is another script already provided****
Q) I see lots of apps running when i first start my phone and don't want some of them running
A) Go into the Security Center folder and open the App Manager app, you can use it to select what apps and their services start and run in the background at boot
Q) The stock lockscreen is laggy
A) Yes it is, this is widely known in the Miui community, but it has a plethora of options built into it. If you want a faster one download any v4 theme and go into the theme manager under the mix section and apply it. The same goes for just about any thing or apperance you don't like about stock Miui, you can apply whole themes or just select parts
Nice work. gonna have to try this
Do you need Miui gapps from the site or any gapps will do?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
you don't need gapps, the google framework for google accounts and playstore are included, any other gapps can be downloaded from the market. do not flash gapps from CM or other AOSP roms as you'll get a few apps that shouldn't be there
if for some reason someone needs a certain gapp let me know, but this is the NS4G a CDMA phone only available in the US so we shouldn't have any restrictions on apps
Great work. Thanks for the port.. I've been waiting to try out a JB build of MIUI. You just made my weekend.
No problem, the JB version of Miui is quite nice. if you are going to flash a custom kernel i had the least amount of issues with Mathkids Matrix v23, it has voodoo sound and blinking BLN built in. I just updated my FAQ post but i have had severe issues with several of the other kernels in terms of bluetooth and battery drain so beware
Wow.. finally someone port jb miui for nexus s 4G, thank you
Awesome... I love MIUI...
Can anyone post some screenshots?
Not bad! Going to give a run through.. Seems fine so far.
Screenshots attached as requested. This is right after first boot.
This looks AWESOME! I went back to stock jellybean, but I'm going to root and install this later! How does battery life seem so far? Yeah, yeah, I know, give it a couple of days for the kernel to settle, but still... xD
Can anyone trying this confirm if 4g works?
Yep (theme installed now)
And battery.. Way too early to tell. I'm only an hour into using it.
Will you be releasing an add on pack. For DPI etc ....
haven't used miui in awhile does it still show high usage when u kill apps going to try when i get home wat kernel is everybody using thanks
sick. thanks for the confirmation.. on rasbean now but may have to give this a go....i miss miui and the ics version was crap, but the gb version didnt have 4g.
It's a little "heavy" feeling but MIUI isn't exactly a lightweight ROM so I expected that.. I had tried the ICS version and it was unbearable slow.. So far this is pretty damn good all things considering (feature filled custom JB ROM on 2 year old phone)
Nice ROM at lease jellybean miui is fast & smooth when compared to miui ICS which was way to laggy but miui is not my cup of tea I'm rocking Rasbean
Welcome! If you found yourself looking for something like CleanROM based on the new 5.0.1 20G OTA, then you have come to the right place. This has been thoroughly tested by myself with no issues. Want stability you can trust? You have come to the right place. For best results, please follow the installation instructions below!
Rooted (SuperSU)
Init.d enabled
Busybox
Bloat Removed
Updated LG and Google apps in /System
External SD Card fix
Build.prop tweaks for performance
Screenshots!
What works:
Everything
What doesn't:
Nothing!
Credits:
@Chainfire for SuperSU
@MicroMod777 for stock debloated system.img and boot.img (Initial release. Version 2+ is the extracted LG KDZ)
@razz1 for increase FPS
@Morningstar for his Network Traffic Guide.
Installation:
Must have recovery installed (TWRP)
Do not wipe yet as the bootloader and modem flashable below looks for the phone build prop to verify variant
Install the 20G bootloader and modem if you haven't already (If you do not use this bootloader or have not done the full KDZ install of 20B/E/G, you will get a security error and the rom will not boot.)
Copy ROM to external SDcard
Reboot to Recovery
Wipe Data/Factory reset (I always do 3x for good measure)
Wipe Cache (Again, I always do 3x for good measure)
Wipe Dalvik Cache
DO NOT WIPE INTERNAL
Flash ROM
Reboot System
Profit!
A couple things to note:
If you use a different kernel, do not report issues until you verify issue with stock (included kernel).
I am not responsible if you brick your phone, but of course you would know that if you are flashing this.
Of course your warranty is already voided from rooting your phone.
If you would like to use this as a base, please include me in your credits and link to this thread.
I am in general a very busy person, so I like to rely on you and other XDA members to help eachother. That is what this is all about right? I will continue to update this as I feel necessary. With my flashing habit, that may be alot. Search before asking questions.
I built this ROM for my personal use and decided to share because of how well it works.
I am not a themer, so don't expect any fancy themes! If you would like to create a theme and share, please let me know and I will add it to the OP. This goes for any other MOD. I am happy to add things to the builds if they work well and you want to contribute.
You can get them from the stock rom. system/media/audio folder is what you would want to pull. You will also need to put the names of the ringtones/notification/alarms that you would like to use by default in the build.prop. You can find the correct spot by searching for the following lines:
Code:
ro.config.ringtone=CurveBall.ogg
ro.config.notification_sound=CyanMessage.ogg
ro.config.alarm_alert=CyanAlarm.ogg
Again, I make this rom for my personal use and cannot stand the stock music like ringtones, so that is why I made the switch. Just personal preference. If I ever get some free time, I will put together a flashable zip, but I have been in a hurry trying to get this out to share.
ok, so if I understand, I am sitting with 10m and running zonerom so I can flash this rom and it takes me to 10r? I don't do OTAs out of habit....
You are correct. I recommend clean flash coming from another custom ROM.
I'm in the process of downloading again for the 4th time because md5 wouldn't match the op.
It does however match the one located on AndroidFileHost
Just want to point out the link in OP points to the default D85110R.zip. I was able to look through your other files to find the SR_V1.zip.
