Hi,
Starting this morning, I cannot access Market. Every time I tried to connect, I got error: "Network error has occurred ... Retry ... Cancel?"
However, I don't have any problem accessing the internet. Wifi and mobile data are working fine.
Web browsing works ...
Account sync works (gmail, contacts, calendar) ...
Google Talk login successfully ...
I have tried so far:
* Settings -> Manage Applications -> Market: Clear cache / data
* Reboot the phone
* Waited 2+ hours and see if Google servers have problem
No luck
Anyone has any more ideas except hard-reset?
I am using HTC Desire retail version (non-branded), stock ROM, un-rooted, official 2.2 update.
Thanks for any suggestion
Hi mate. I too am getting the same network error message. It's probably down to an issue with the actual marketplace rather than your phone. Don't do a hard reset. I'm sure it'll be back up soon.
Any other users having this issue?
Edit: just read a similar thread a minute ago on here and yep, the marketplace being down is some sort of global issue. Many can't access it. Google must be aware as Twitter is going wild with the news.
Cheers
Mo

Did you try reading the Desire General forum before creating new thread about the same topic that exists in 2 threads already???
But yes Android market is down for most if not everyone.
Here in GER as well...

I have just picked up my new Orange HTC desire (very nice it is too, apart from the Orange stuff that comes with it).
The problem I am having is that I am now unable to download any more applications form the Andriod marketplace. I was able to do this until the other day.
I found this (android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile-pulse-pulse-modaco-com/304562/download-unsuccessful/)forum which basically says that you need the gtalk service running.
I had disabled this the other day whilst messing around and I couldn't work out how to re-enable this. (Possibly due to the ORange branding stuff, not sure).
I found a link to the gtalk.apk in one of these forums, downloaded it and installed that. That got the gtalk service running again. however I am still unable to download apps from the market place, this is very annoying.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
try clearing the cache from the settings menu / applications / manage applications / download manager and then reboot your handset. This worked for me earlier in the week.
Thanks for the tip, I tried it but still no luck, any more ideas anybody?
Cheers
EVO APP store
yeah, after updates, rooting, froyo.. etc..
i couldn't download apps as well.
Logged into GTalk and app downloads started working.

i dont think you need gtalk running to download from the market, im sure i have removed that app b4 and had no problems i can remember, what is the error you are getting? you have give us no info? is the download failing or the instalation? many problems with the market can be solved by going to settings/application/manage applictions, find market under the all tab, click on it then click on clear data, reboot your fone and try again ....
Hi
I use Modaco 3.1 which has been stable on my Desire for a long time.
Suddenly, yesterday, Market stopped working (I am in UK). I can see market apps, I can purchase apps and I get notification of updates, but when I try to download, I get 'Starting Download' after which nothing happens. Is there a Market problem? If not, how do I start to troubleshoot this issue?
Thanks.
PS - happens on wireless LAN or mobile internet.
How long do you wait before giving up?
Even now, sometimes (at random) it'll take a good while before it starts to download on mine. Have you left it "attempting", for say, an hour?

You haven't recently updated your Gmail account from googlemail to gmail by any chance?
It happens to me sometimes... if it stucks, turn off your wifi on phone, and than turn it on, it will start downloading immediately
Thanks all
I have waited 30 mins. I have restarted phone until blue in the face. ALl other internet services are fine.
Think I'll have to reflash
Tried going to application settings, click on market and then clear the data.

As I said did you change your gmail account on the PC recently? This effects it and requires you to re-run the setup
Clearing market cache fixes this for me when it happens every now and then.

You might also like to check that you are signed in to GTalk (Talk application) as this is inextricably linked to Market.

I found when I had a low disk space warning that I had your exact symptoms.
I also couldn't get any push email from google.

I having some issues too, but for me it's only on WiFi i get the "starting download" hang.
As soon as i turn WiFi off it works :S
I have tried clearing the market cache and i have not recently switched from gmail.

When you have low diskspace warning, it won't let you install anything and also not receive any e-mails, delete apps till the warning disappears and all should be fine (this is probably the main reason everyone is waiting for froyo)
Android Market problem
Hi,
I have rooted Desire running stock ROM 1.15.405.4. with app2sd. I have a problem with downloading apps and updates from the Market. The app starts to download and then it just hangs. I have no low memory warning. I have read in some forums that clearing cache in Settings>Applications>Manage Applications can help. But unfortunately whenever I try to start Manage Applications it is forced quit so I can't clear that Market cache.
Any suggestions please?
Also I'd like to upgrade to stock ROM 1.21 (rooted) with app2sd (without needing to re-install all my apps). Obviously it is not possible to upgrade via OTA. Any suggestions for this?
thanks for advice
I'm having market problems now too for the past day or two where it's stuck on "starting download...".
I'm running Modaco 3.1 as well with APPS2SD+ which was working fine!
1) My account was always Gmail so I haven't changed that.
2) I have signed into Talk fine and it all works including Gmail notifications working too
3) I have cleared the market cache
4) I let it attempt to download for over 12 hours - still didn't start.
5) Tried to reflash the ROM (without wipe) still nothing.
Any other suggestions or should I just total wipe and reinstall?

why would you do that? If it stucks, do this:
-turn wifi off
-turn wifi on
it will start immediately
this is definitely not working for me...
(There are other posts around the forum about this, but none apparently directly related to Desire)
I'm using Oxygen 2.0 RC7 ROM with recommended radio, Oxygen HBOOT & S-OFF.
I've tried using the Online Market today, but not having much luck.
The apps I have purchased / installed show up in the market, but I am unable to install any new apps from here with the site claiming: "There are no android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account."
If I check the settings under "My Marketplace Account" no device is detected. The help only has 2 options;
1) Check your account login (done, correct)
2) open the market on the device (done & downloaded an app to be sure) - Still no dice!
Is anyone else having this issue with:
a) the same ROM / setup
b) a different ROM / Setup
Has anyone discovered a workaround?
Has anyone had the same issue with a similar setup but been able to correct it?
Has anyone had NO issues with the same/similar setup?
So many questions...
Appreciate any and all advice
No problems with oxygen, but since it only just launched give it some time. Probably just a bit busy because everybody is trying it out.

I have the same problem, but I'm using Leedroid 2.3d. In "My Account" it only shows paid apps and some free apps, which I have deleted a couple of month ago.
I haven't found a solution anywhere. But it seems others have got this problem too. And it doesn't seem to be related to the Desire or any specific rom.
Yeah, looking at the official blog post announcing the release, it appears this porblem is affecting stock ROMs also.
Waiting game!
similar issue here: LeeDroid 2.3d
I can see apps I installed before I rooted the phone, but no apps after that.
In the settings page I can see my phone and the "Last used" time stamp is today but for all the apps the latest time stamp is on the day I rooted the phone (the 3rd of January).
I opened a ticket with Google.
In the same boat - no devices found

I have exactly the same set up (but I'm with Telstra not Vodaphone).
From device - market access fine - and can even see my purchase history in my gmail account dashboard - www dot google.com/dashboard/
But no matter what I do, no device found on website.
Tried reinstalling oxygen (as I had installed the latest marketplace which isn't part of the standard RC7 release), but no help...
Would love to hear how to fix this!
Well, I don't quite know what to say... but mine...just....started working!
Maybe the roll-out has had some bugs or other issues? I dunno. Just checked back and it saw my device. Tried installing an app and it started pushing to my device immediately.
I guess you'll just need to hold on and be patient?
Cheers, Jeff
Hi Everyone, I have a somewhat unique problem which I have not been able to find on XDA or elsewhere. Since the 4.1.1 update, which I received yesterday, I have not been able to complete any app updates via a data connection (atm I do not have a Wi-fi connection). I am still able to make calls, send SMSs and browse the internet with no issues.
When I attempt to update an app, it will hang at a certain percentage such as the google search app which stalls at 45%. I've tried to update that numerous times but somehow it always hangs at that percentage.
I've tried to clear the cache and all data for any task related to Google Play. Finally I tried a factory reset, but I am still having the same problems; only now I have lost all my apps, and they two cannot finish their re-download to my HTC device.
This is my first thread so just let me know if I have done anything wrong, and I'll try my best to correct it.
Thanks
I think we are on the same CID HTC_023? I have not had any problems with either updating or installing apps from Google Play. You've done what I would have done in you case. Any chance you can connect to a wifi network and try it, at a coffee shop or through a friend?
thanks for the reply

I've been able to download and update apps via Wif-fi at uni. The problem only seems to be with downloading Google Play Store updates and apps via data. I guess the problem must be with my current version of Google Play (the latest) or my carrier
My device has root access & since last week Google apps can't access Internet.
Google search
Hangouts
News and weather
Inbox
Calendar
But, Play store & Gmail working fine..
Any help on this?

already done that..
when trying to open google apps, it says :
something has gone wrong try again in few minutes
On xda somewhere I read a thread about this problem for root devices,
now I'm not able to find that thread, :crying:
Ok..
So I found this thread No Connection Error Fix!
tried everything on it, few apps started few not, then searched for similar errors on google, then few started & other stopped..
Finally, I have reset my phone, after that working fine, no need to root again, no problem now..
The problem said to appear because of bad network reception or google server error, but I was facing it since a week,
Now after reset & erase all, working fine..
