Titanium Backup help....

I've switched ROM's and Titanium backup is still backed up to the previous ROM. I wanna start fresh (as far as all my backups) with this new ROM.
I think I go to Backup/Restore-menu-batch- run (delete all backups (caution)).
Is this correct?
Secondly, I have many apps/widgets that I froze with Titanium. Do I need to unfreeze these before I make a new backup?

I would suggest not deleting your old backup just yet. Sometimes there is a setting or app that I realize I need a couple days after the fact. I would go to preferences in titanium and change the backup folder name to something else and make a new fresh backup of everything. That way you have a fresh backup without losing your old stuff just in case.
But if you do want to just delete everything then run the delete function you metioned.
As far as the frozen apps are concerned, I've never used the freeze function but I would assume that a backup is made even if it frozen because the apk is not deleted.

does any one have a list of the app that can be frozzen without disruption the use of the phone? also im ussing LP so the sense can go too? if yes what are the sense apps

How do you get Google Backup to Restore Apps (on gingerbread)

My understanding is that GingerBread (2.3.x) will handle automatically restoring your apps after a wipe or you switch between ROM (each with clean wipe).
It asks about "backing up google".
I'm currently using MikG 0.5 and was using MikG RC1 for quite a while (since it was released 3 weeks?).
I was hoping starting with a fresh wipe it would restore my apps but it does not.
I think on one of these gingerbread ROMs (I've tried a bunch) I think it did partially restore apps. Not just paid ones. I forget if it was complete or not.
Is there something explicit you have to do to make this all work?

That still seems to be hit or miss. Is there any reason you're not using Titanium Backup?

Because I don't like it. Recently I wanted to use it for a piece of software for TTS I bought and was no longer available in the Market. And it completely fell on it's face. All I did was copy the APK from system from a restored back up and it installed fine.
I also don't want to restore potentially incompatible apps. I assume Google will trigger Market to install latest right from the start.
I also don't have to explicitly choose what to back up and what to restore.
I've seen the Google Stuff work, and it works well when it works.

That's the problem. Honestly, TB can be complicated to use but what you're describing sounds like user error. You also don't have to explicitly choose what to backup and restore in TB either. Just go into Menu > Batch > Backup all user apps to backup and then Restore all user apps when you want to restore. Then just use the Market to update any out of date apps. It takes forever for the Market to get your apps back anyway, I always use TB and so does almost anyone else on a custom ROM.

Call me a purist, but I don't like Titanium Backup either. Granted, I don't use a ton of market apps, only about a dozen or so ... just not a problem. To get back to the original question, Google has always restored my apps on CM6/7, up to and including the 3-7 gapps. The newer gapps used with Android 2.3.4 are where everything began to break down.

I don't want to back it up like that. I think it causes problems.
I backed up this app explicitly, went to restore explicitly and it didn't work. Pretty Simple.
I'd like the google feature. I want something that coordinates with the mark app and installs the instead if the backup is old.

What + How do you backup before a full wipe?

Hey,
I've been on holiday and the new version of ARHD is out, but requires (well, recommends) a full wipe, but I'll take that recommendation considering how long it's been since a full wipe and my phone could probably do with it.
So my question is really, what should I backup before a full wipe, and how?
I've got app apks + data with titanium backup, and seo's sense3 sms can backup and restore texts (also I get them saved to gmail), but what else?

use the Titanium Backup app and back up all user applications with data and system data.
With this method you back up everything, what you can move to the new rom.

Also, you can "nandroid backup" from clockwork recovery just in case rom flashing fails.
Edit: which is not the case really with arhd. Only themes flashed wrong got me into bootloops

i usually do "adb pull /data/app C:/random_folder" and "adb pull /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf C:/random_folder/wpa_supplicant.conf". This copies all of your apps and your wifi networks to your harddrive.

i used myfoneexplorer......it is installed nicely in fone....
but when i downloaded it to pc....it keeps showing errors......[nero not found..something like that........]

This was also something I wondered about before I rooted.
First, if you are connected to your gmail account, all of your contacts, emails, sms, phone log etc will be synced by Google (backed up). Even better, if you are connected to htc sense, it will save all of your WiFi passwords!
Second, you won't be able to take backup of your apps and data without root, although Android market will try to restore every app that you have downloaded from it (still without data). Remember I said try, because it doesn't always work. Therefore I recommend that you use an app called "app list backup" by pun software
to make a list of them.
Third, make a note of all your home screen elements and where they are placed.
Fourth, download bookmark sort & backup by happydroid a to make a backup of your bookmarks.

[Q] Working App for Backup when Switching Roms?

I've tried a couple of backup programs to restore all my data and apps when switching between roms and running into problems. I still haven't gotten one backup program to work yet.
I'm currently on ICS from the Skyrocket ported version I think. I've used TB and Backup to backup all my data and apps.
Luckily I've completely backed everything up using CWR.
Tried switching to Juggernaut rom and used the programs to restore all the data and apps and both programs ran into errors and I couldn't bring back any of my personal stuff.
I do also have a Google account so yes my contacts, calender, etc is backed up that way but it doesn't do the SMS, logs, etc.
I will say it, yes I have downloaded apps that aren't paid for but I doubt that's the issue that it's not working right for restoring. Never had issues with this on my iPhone before switching to my Galaxy S2 T-Mobile.
Any help as to why and how to get some app to work properly so I can switch Roms. This one sucks really bad IMO. There's no tethering, some apps don't work which I can't see anything not working on the S2, and it crashes too much for my liking.

Try titanium backup but remember. If you wipe your SD and internal memory it will be gone.
It could be some apps aren't compatible but all my apps worked.

I would suggest giving ROM Toolbox a shot... although I have never had any issues using Titanium Backup for what you are trying to accomplish. It sounds like something was corrupted during the initial backup process and that is what is preventing the restoration.

How do I transfer apps when using a new ROM?

Hello everyone,
I have been rooting for a long time since I had a G1. I never understood clearly how to transfer apps without the need to manually install them. Does creating a partition in the SD card to ext3 or ext4 have some factor to it? I would simply follow directions but didn't understand the process. Whenever I installed a new ROM, sometimes all of the apps would be install automatically and some ROMS would require me to install them manually. I also got Titaniumbackup Pro also. Is that still a good app to use to back up these days? Is there a popular app to back up text messaging as well or does many of the
Lately, I have been trying to find a good rom to use after many crashes of Andromadus V13. I am using the latest Anrdomadus Mimicry now and its great. Though, I realized that I didn't transfer any of my apps. As I was rooting a few ROMS previous to it, some would install a majority of the apps and others would require me to install them myself. Im curious of why this is so.

the auto restore is a function of the market, I don't like this method and choose no when I sign in (don't like wasting time and slowing things down cause of all the data over network or wifi
titanium back is my personal favorite way to restore apps on a new rom, there are other apps that will do this (romtollbox etc) tb will do texts but I have had issues with it

Apps are tied to your Google Play account and normally get automatically re-installed after you start your phone back up after a new ROM. Except, sometimes installing your ROM gives your phone a new "name" and Google Play doesn't know that it's the same phone (even though it's on the same account). So, if you go to Google Play on your computer, you would have more than one choice of phones to download apps to - your old phone name and your new phone name. And I've also had the occasional app out of many that just doesn't re-install for some reason.

Two words : Titanium Backup (though mainly only useful if you can restore your old rom, run a backup, then flash the new rom back).
While google can half-ass restore your downloads (settings may not always be intact), Titanium Backup will actually restore all your backed up apps along with their full settings/etc. It can also restore your rom's Android ID so that restored apps don't conflict.
But yea since you already have it, you should know least that much. Personally I have not found anything better than 4EXT Recovery and Titanium Backup Pro when it comes to backing up and restoring data.
ps: it can backup your SMS/Call Logs/Wifi Access points, etc to XML files on your SD card which can be re-imported later, just in case the SMS/Etc backups performed are not compatible with your new rom's apps.
