When I bought my desire and had the stock Rom there was an fm radio app. But now when I've flashed it with a new room I can't use this function. Anyone got an idea on how to get the app installed ?

Which rom are you using?
FM radio is working only (and contained) in sense ui, no porting till now for AOSP.
If you are using "non sense ROM", you can not use FM Radio...
I found a few apps, and these apps don´t work.
Pinky Classic Desire rom now has FM radio working without Sense.
Using LeeDroid v1.8
Isn't that sense?

That is a stripped down sense rom mate. Still a sense rom really.

Pinky Classic Desire is derived from the original HTC Sense not cooked from AOSP like cm and so on.

Hi there
It's been a lot since root release but i still have to root my device, since i saw around a new tool (unrevoked3) that makes it simple and fast i wanted to give it a shot and see if the devs around there made some good roms.
What i've been looking around is a stable Froyo rom, better if w/o sense, and with working Radio FM but i can't seem to find it. Everyone talk about 720p camera, incall echo, LED mods, theme mods, etc. but i can't find a rom where it states "Radio FM: Working" and even looking around in the thread i can't find a clue if it works or no.
So, anyone knows one that i can try? Thanks.
I'm using the LeeDroid ROM (v1.3) and the FM radio works fine. I also used Unrevoked3 to root my phone, and it's nice and easy.
I think that the FM radio only works on Sense-based Froyo ROMs.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for the tip, gonna try LeeDroid rom then i'm curious to see how froyo performs.
You can always install a home replacement so you have FM radio but a stock launcher and homescreen.
That's what i'm doing atm on my 1.21 stock rom but the lack of space in memory is killing the fun of using this device, i've installed just a handful of apps and the memory is always around 15ish mb left, i'm spending more time deleting apps than using them

ephumuris,
Can you please elaborate a bit on what is meant here? I'm using a custom ROM w/o Sense, and find it perfect other than it's got no FM radio - something I'm missing from Sense.
Hi There,
I have been using DeFrost and OpenDesire for the last few months, and have therefore not been able to use the FM radio.
It worked when i tried it initially with the stock Sense rom, but nowdays (MIUI, SenseHD and Sense) all i get is static, no matter where i am (outside in good weather etc). My friend with a Nexus One can pick up the stations at the exact same location.
I have tried all the radios back untill 5.09.00.08 (currently using 5.11.05.14), but no difference.
Any ideas?
Josh.
Go back to Stock using a Shipped RUU. If it's still fubar then send it off for a warranty repair.
Make sure your HBOOT is restored if you've flashed the S-Off HBOOT but i think the stock RUU should write the stock HBOOT back on the device for you.
It's not FUBAR, just the FM radio seems to give static. I have no other issues with it whatsoever.
What does an RUU contain that 'might' fix this issue?
Josh.
Moved to Q&A. Please don't post question threads in Development.

Going back to a Stock ROM will ensure that your software is 100% compatible with the hardware. It's naturally the first thing you should do if you start having problems with your device. If you're using a cooked ROM, there's an increased chance that the problem you are experiencing is related to software rather than hardware. In your case, more so since the Desire 2.2 kernel was only recently open sourced, so the FM radio drivers have only recently been included in 2.2 cooked roms.
Hey Josh,
I'm running LeeDrOiD 2.4.1 and have the identical issue with my FM radio. Did you solve it? If so, how?
Thanks,
Keith

Hi,
i want to root my HTC Desire and install AceSMod7 V33, but i can't find any information, if i FM Radio App is included.
Can anybody help?
Andsome suggestions about a "better" ROM, i should install? I want a Sense2,1+Sense3,0 Rom, but i'm not sure, which one to chose.
It should be stable (without any bugs, if this is possible), and smooth/quick.
Thanks a lot for your help

Try LeeDrOiD HD port, with Sense 3 addon.
I had good experience with it.

I running that very version, its been very stable for me.. (only just rooted).
I can confirm the FM Radio is there and works... (im UK based).
ok,
thank you a lot.
I think, i will try AceSMod this weekend. I hope, i will like it. But if not, i can try another ROM, maybe Leedroid od Insertcoin
FM radio is also present in many AOSP roms and also in MIUI. True, the sense fm app is snappier. For instance, they are without RDS, which is a shame.

I have a second hand HTC Desire. It looks like it's been romed. I've no problem with that, other than the fact there is no FM radio!
Can someone either tell me how I'd be able to get it back without having to download a radio app (which uses too much data for my contract). Or to just remove the rom.
Cheers
I'd suggest flashing one of the stable Gingerbread ROMs with FM Radio support (not all of them have FM Radio).
Try the Euroskank 7.2 ROM, or MildWild MW series ROM - both are fast, non-sense ROMs with FM support.
There are plenty of Sense options around too if you want one.

Search "Spirit Fm" on the play store, and select qsd8250 in Settings > Audio > Method.
Hi all,
Does anyabody knows whether Radio FM works on Marshmallow? As far as I know CyanogmenMod 12 doesnt have Radio FM yet, don´t know about other versions like Sense or GPe.
This is the reason why I bought HTC M8, I dont use Radio applications wasting my provider data, just at home with WIFI.
Much appreciated.
Marshmallow Sense ROM has FM radio as part of default system app.
Marshmallow GPE doesn't have FM radio as default but custom GPE like the one that I'm using (link in my signature) has FM radio
