I'm on 2.2 (via OTA update), not rooted and when I use headphones the media volume controls have no impact. I have tried using the rocker buttons and manually through setting and sound but sliding up and down has 0 impact.
I tried pulling the battery, installing sound manager, and nothing has helped.
BTW..the media volume controls work when using the speaker and not headphones
any help is appreciated.

Hey guys,
I have an issue where i am unable to change the volume when listening to music via the music tab in manilla (using 2.1 atm). The volume rocker changes the system volume, but the music does not get any louder or quieter, unless i put the device into silent or vibrate. The music tab doesnt have any volume controls either (an oversight imo). Can anyone advise me with how i can adjust the volume?
Thanks
Any ideas?
Volume rocker changes music volume fine on mine. Check on the thread for your rom, perhaps others have had similar experiences and can help you.
Hi everyone,
Today all of a sudden, my phone's speaker doesn't play any media volume anymore (music, youtube etc.) However ringtone, notification, and in-call volume work fine. When changing volume in settings, moving ringtone and alarm slider will result in a test sound, but the media slider doesn't. If i plug in my headphones then everything works perfectly. I have tried the headphone routing fix app from market but it didnt work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Running on CM12 I can adjust the volume using my bluetooth headphones and it moves the clicker on the screen, but when using a Sense Rom, 4.4.4 and the latest 5.0.1, the volumes are separate. When I click the volume on my headphones the volume goes up but it does not move the volume on my phone, which causes the volume to get really loud or not loud enough. Does anybody know why and if there is a way to link the volumes?
Nobody?
I'm noticing some issues with the media volume. In short, there are times I can get the phone in a state where media is playing, volume is all the way down, and when I hit volume-up ONCE it goes to full volume (over bluetooth). This is not very pleasant when playing media over a bluetooth speaker in the morning and it goes full volume.
Steps to replicate:
1. With media NOT playing and bluetooth disconnected use the volume rocker bring up volume menu.
2. Expand the volume menu to show media volume, select any volume then select minimum/off volume.
3. Turn the bluetooth speaker on and wait for it to connect
4. Start playing music (in my case google play music) - no sound is emitted from bluetooth speaker
5. Hit volume rocker UP - sound level jumps to last known bluetooth volume + 1
If I leave the media volume alone while media is NOT playing, then everything works fine. It's the moment I adjust that volume when it doesn't have priority on the volume rocker.
When media is NOT playing, I noticed that the media volume (in the menu that appears when changing volume) doesn't always match what is under SETTINGS>SOUND & NOTIFICATION. I think this might be a related issue.
Anyone else experience this issue?
I have noticed my audio control (volume up/dn) when not in an app controls my media volume and not my ringer volume. Can this be addressed or changed when not in an app to control ringer volume?
Also, I use a FM transmitter for audio in my car. Any success with audio players or apps to get oompf from the headphone jack? I end having the phone volume jacked up and my radio jacked up to hear anything.
