I've tried the GPS on several of these ROMS, including the Stock 2.2 Leaks and have been unable to use GPS. The functionality of the 2.2 is great, but if I can't use Navigation and general GPS, it's bogus to me. Is anyone else experiencing this? I've Googled it several times and searched here, only to turn up brief mentions. From what I've gathered, it only affects a handful of folks, and I'm one of them.
I've been using the leaked OTA from 7/21 I believe, and have attempted to use CM and Incredible Does with no success.
Current kernel is 2.6.32.15-g936f65f
Check which Baseband you are using (Settings>About>Software). You are probably running 1.00.03.xx.xx
In order for the GPS services to work correctly with 2.2 you need to update to the 2.x radio. Instructions towards the bottom of the OP: forum.xda-developers [dot] com/showthread.php?t=737400
Sorry for the poorly formatted link. I'm still not authorized to post links.
Try the 8-1 leak. That will upgrade your radio.
Here is the link
Also try this One of Hydra's Kernels
Thanks. I will try these. I thought maybe I had done this before but doesn't hurt to try again.

Hi There,
I have been using DeFrost and OpenDesire for the last few months, and have therefore not been able to use the FM radio.
It worked when i tried it initially with the stock Sense rom, but nowdays (MIUI, SenseHD and Sense) all i get is static, no matter where i am (outside in good weather etc). My friend with a Nexus One can pick up the stations at the exact same location.
I have tried all the radios back untill 5.09.00.08 (currently using 5.11.05.14), but no difference.
Any ideas?
Josh.
Go back to Stock using a Shipped RUU. If it's still fubar then send it off for a warranty repair.
Make sure your HBOOT is restored if you've flashed the S-Off HBOOT but i think the stock RUU should write the stock HBOOT back on the device for you.
It's not FUBAR, just the FM radio seems to give static. I have no other issues with it whatsoever.
What does an RUU contain that 'might' fix this issue?
Josh.
Moved to Q&A. Please don't post question threads in Development.

Going back to a Stock ROM will ensure that your software is 100% compatible with the hardware. It's naturally the first thing you should do if you start having problems with your device. If you're using a cooked ROM, there's an increased chance that the problem you are experiencing is related to software rather than hardware. In your case, more so since the Desire 2.2 kernel was only recently open sourced, so the FM radio drivers have only recently been included in 2.2 cooked roms.
Hey Josh,
I'm running LeeDrOiD 2.4.1 and have the identical issue with my FM radio. Did you solve it? If so, how?
Thanks,
Keith

I appologize if this has been already answered. I did search around and couldnt find any threads related to this.
Does anyone know if the Midnight ROM has corrected the data connectivity issues that are present in the stock froyo build from samsung/sprint.

I am using the ROM and haven't experienced any issues what so ever.
Thanks.
I am currently running the stock froyo build from the Samsung site. Rooted and CW2 installed. Notice the problem when I am roaming using roam control. Data connectivity is intermittent. Hoping a custom rom is the way to go.
I am a little reluctant to go to the ext4 format. Will this prevent me from upgrading "official" froyo updates as they become availabe?

If you're running a custom rom then OTA updates will not come automatically.
Like when official froyo came out. After a few days the devs here had a tar file that included root and recovery. So using odin; i used that to get to the latest version provided by sprint (plus the extras I needed to run custom roms)
Then flashed my fav eb13 rom (eb13 being the version of official froyo from sprint for epic)
smooth sailing; as long as you read and familiarize before you just jump in. You'll know what to -not- do and what to do if something funky happens.
Good lock and happy romming!!
i am running midnight rom 4.1 and have no issues. if you are having issues i would suggest redoing it, not uncommon to have issues every now and then.
I'm about to use RCMix HD and hopefully stick with it, I have no idea which radio to get though and I can't post in the thread itself yet, hopefully someone can give me an idea of what radio to get, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thankyou.
Hello,
I was under the impression that the RCmix 6.0.0.1 would come with the latest radio and matched RIL from the latest release that it is based off. I am new to ROMing so dont take my word for it though.
Please post back your results.
I've been using;
Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_test
RIL_12.35d.60.140f_26.08.03.07_M
its been the best that ive used so far (used it with RCMix HD v6 and with Android Revolution HD 5.1).

I think the RIL is included, i didnt think the radio was....then again i'm new to this whole thing as well!
I don't even know what an RIL is, haha, do I need one?
RIL stands for Radio Interface Layer. As i understand it the software that allows the rom to talk to the radio. I have also read that people have had successful results without updating the RIL. I havnt updated mine and it works fine.
The RIL is apparently only needed for sense ROMS (RCMix, CoreDroid, ARHD etc.). Non-sense roms (such as CM7) dont require a RIL.
As far as I know, a radio will still work without the matching RIL, but it just works better with the correct RIL
First let me get this out there that yes I searched the forums and did find information on how some people were getting GPS issues and some recommended solutions/fixes from other users. However I think my issue is somewhat different and I am trying to get an understanding of it. (please if you do see that a similar issue has posted elsewhere that I missed, I apologize in advance and ask you to point me to that thread).
Currently I am on JellyBean747 by (Drewgaren) ROM based on Sprint leaked JB (L710VPBLJ7). This is the only ROM where I get my GPS working. I have tried swapping ROMs to other leaks, Official releases, AOKP, CM10 with no luck. Tried changing the kernels with Ktoonsez's Stock kernel but still no luck.
I have a nandroid backup of stock+root ROM which I used to get root. Even restoring to that ROM doesn't fix the GPS.
I have also tried turning GPS on before opening maps, used GPS test app and another GPS fix app to setup servers to North America etc. Still no luck on other roms. GPS doesn't even start.
JellyBean747 by (Drewgaren) is the only ROM where I get the GPS working properly (or should I say normally?).
Does anyone have any idea why is that? and what is different in Sprint based rom that might be interfering with GPS files/libs etc.
Any suggestions, pointers, comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
gps fix
go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995347
follow all of the steps exactly.. gps now works on all roms. if you have more problems.. reffer back to here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995347 worked for me :good:
I tried those steps on AOKP with no luck. Since you are suggesting to try it again, I will but this time on LK3 based ROM to see if it works. Can you please share which ROM you were using and having problem with GPS and then were able to fix the GPS using these steps? Thanks for help.
I went back to stock and no GPS. Followed all steps with no luck. Like i said, my hardware is working fine but there is something in Drewgarens rom that is causing GPS to not work with any other roms. Please suggest another tip. Currently i am on AOKP and GPS is gone.
Does anyone have a working link to a stock EVO 4G stock ROM that can then be used to update to the latest stock ROM+radios+whatever? I've been searching around here and the Internet in general, but I'm having trouble wading through the sea of dead links to stock ROMs and links to ROMs that have been hacked to remove radios and whatnot.
I've been using the last good Evervolv JB ROM and it's just too unstable, and my radios and stuff are probably out of date too, so I'd like to try going back to stock for a while.
Note regarding root: It would be nice to be able to keep root, but not if it means having to use stock ROMs that have been modified to the point where it will be a pain to update to the latest stock ROM+radios+whatever. I can always re-unroot myself if needed.
Thanks!

I'm looking for the exact same thing... I'd like to go back to the stock HTC Sense ROM, but I've lost my old backup copy (long story) and having trouble finding a suitable replacement. Did you happen to save a backup of your stock ROM before switching to the Evervolv ROM? If so, could you send me the Zip?
Or, if anyone out there on the forum could help, that would be great.
I was hoping to get some benefit to a more recent version of Android, but all the ROM's I've tried thus far seem to have one glitch after another. I'd prefer to go back to a stock, or some slightly upgraded version of the SENSE IU. Any suggestions appreciated.
I downloaded this ROM as it looked like a good "SENSE-esque" ROM, and looks like most everything is working on this version.

Thoughts?
I don't have a backup of my stock ROM as far as I know.
I really wanted something close to stock, so I think I ended up settling on [Rom]TN_Elousions3.2_OTA_5.07.651.6_Deoxed_Stock_Theme.zip which is a moderate mod of the last stock ROM.
I ended up going through the S-OFF process as well to make sure that I had the latest radios and such.
It's functional, but between the Sense changes and the fact that it's Gingerbread-based means that there are some things about the UI that just aren't as nice as Evervolv. The upshot is that the battery consumption is lower and the hardware features work or work better (4G, FFC, camcorder, FM radio, etc.).
I'm tempted to try one of the last official Cyanogen ROMs just to see if I like the UI better than Sense, but I'll probably just stick it out until I get a new phone.
