I am on MR4 and when I try to boot into Recovery from Clockwork, it goes to a screen with the Red icon indicating it is dead. I have to pull the battery to restart the phone. If I go to Clockwork and reflash the recovery, I can get in, but it only lasts for one restart.
Any ideas?
By "red icon" did you mean a red triangle with an exclamation mark in it?
If so then, what you needed to do to get into recovery from there is press "volume up + power".
It might show an error at the bottom when you do this. If it did, you just have to repeatedly press "volume up + power" until you get some options at the top of the screen and choose "apply update.zip"

Yes - so this has to be done every time? How do I get into recovery just with the phone off then?
From your phone being off, hold down "volume down + power" to get to a fast boot screen (a white screen with android logo at the bottom).
Your phone will be doing some file checking at the beginning of fast boot and it's going to take a minute or two.
Press volume down to reject the two updates. Choose go to Recovery when you can get to it. You'll be taken to the familiar screen with "red icon" from there.
FYI, browsing on fast boot is done by "volume up/down" for navigating and "power button" to confirm choice.

Hello,
I was using this ROM UK BlurlessGingerFroyo 4 from Jboogie3.
I accidently deleted a file in \system\app and now my phone stuck at boot.
I tried to use RSD Lite with:
JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_117-002
JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_155-002
JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-3
3.4.3_11-Stock.UKTmobile_BLUR
But all these files I got the same stuck at boot screen.
Any solution, please?
Thanks a lot guys!
Regards,
Ton
I think you can flash any of those and after flashing, when you're stuck, remove battery, insert battery, get into stock recovery (power + vol. down) and wipe data and cache.
I can't enter into stock recovery, if I push power + vol down I see the robot android + white triangle with exclamation
Thanks for reply
I pressed the bottom-right corner of my screen, but I don't get in the Recovery Mode
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855962
This is the guide to enter Recovery mode
1、Power off your Phone
2、Long Press the Volume Down Button ,Then Press the power button to power on your Phone
3、when you see the Green Android Robot ,press the bottom-right corner of your screen。bingo!you are in the Recovery Mode Now.
4、the touch screen is full functional.using touch to select menu, press bottom-left conner of your screen where there is show ok button to confirm action.
Everything has been already written. In 2.2 firmwares when you see the triangle with exclamation mark, you need to press vol. up + vol. down and you'll see the stock recovery menu.

THANKKKKK YOUUUU MAN!!
I've successfully unlocked and rooted, installed Rom Manager and installed CWM recovery. While I can get into CWM recovery from within ROM Manager I can't fiigure out how to do it from power off. Any help greatly appreciated.
Hold volume up + volume down, then press the power button.
You should be in bootloader, with an android on its back and some info in the bottom left corner. Use the volume buttons to scroll through until you get to <Recovery> and then hit power.
I fingered it out. From power down, boot into fastboot mode by holding volume up and volume down and pressing the power button. A Green robot on his back with his chest opened up appears on the screen.
Then use the volume up or down until the green "Start" in the green arrow box is replaced with a red "Recovery mode" in a red arrow box.
Push the power button. The power on splash screen is displayed for a bit and then it enters the blue texted CWM recovery. Know exactly what you are doing in there!
It froze so I rebooted it and now it won't get past the Google screen... It will literally sit there for hours... What should I do? Is it fixable?

Factory reset through recovery....
If your tablet is on, power it off.
Press and hold Power until the device powers on, then immediately press and hold Volume Down (while still pressing Power). You will see the word Start with an arrow drawn around it.
Press Volume Down twice to designate Recovery mode.
Press Power to restart into Recovery mode. You will see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
While holding down Power, press Volume Up.
Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press Power to select it.
Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press
It will erase everything, but should get things up and running.
I tried flashing ViperOneM8 1.8.0 (ViperOneM8 1.7.1 -> 1.8.0) which I guess was the wrong thing (I think that was an update, should have started with 1.7.1 first). Anyway... Now my M8 boots to some type of android base OS without a lot of things...
1) It's not possible to get to settings as there is no settings app in the app drawer.
2) There is no title bar/task bar at the top. The area that holds the time, and a few icons at the top is gone.
3) There is no background.
4) There is no way to get on the WiFi do to #1 and because of this I can not add my google account. That in turn means no google play store access.
But the BIGGEST thing of all... I CAN NOT BOOT TO FASTBOOT!!!
- Power the device off.
- Hold the volume down button (also tried the volume up button) + press power usually boots strait to fastboot mode.
I THINK it has something to do with the fact that by default in the settings I need to untick the fastboot option in the dev options.. Well I can't get to settings. Now what?

Shut down phone.
Turn it on
Hold volume up+power button until it restarts
As soon as you get the black screen for restart release power button and hold volume down.
If your timing is right you will enter bootloader.
I tried it and it definitely works
Flash your nandroid or any rom you know was ok to begin with and you are up and running!!!

Tried that...
1) Powered off device.
2) Held power button for about 2 seconds until it came on then let go.
3) IMMEDIATELY I pressed and held down the power and volume up buttons.
4) The phone continues to boot up a little bit longer and gets to the verizon check (verizon splash screen) then shortly after goes black (as expected).
5) IMMEDIATELY let go of power button continuing to hold volume up button.
... .. .. .
6) I get the white screen that says HTC (powered by android)... NOT a bootloader screen as expected.
Update... When I try to click on the app drawer then top right click the little three dots, I try and "Manage Apps" ... ERROR "App isn't installed"...
:/

If you connect the phone to the computer, can you get fastboot or adb to recognize the phone?
If so, you can try adb reboot bootloader command or fastboot reboot bootloader comand

Yea, I ended up doing the following...
1) While device is powered on, Press and hold Volume Up + Power until device reboots.
2) When it starts to reboot continue holding the Power button and change to the Volume Down.
That worked for me.
So I installed the newest update for my m8 (Lollipop I believe) and it was on the screen where it was "optimizing apps". Right after my phone started up but instead of showing my lockscreen it shows a blank whitescreen with a message box stating 'NetworkSystemProvider has stopped working would you...." No matter how many times I hit send or don't send another message always appears with a different app but always stating that it has stopped unexpectedly. I should mention that my phone is still on factory settings. I have messed with my phone is changing wallpapers. Sorry if left important info out this is my first post any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Boot to hboot, enter recovery. (Press & hold power & volume up buttons until the screen goes dark, quickly release both bottons and press & hold volume down button)
When you have that red triangle, press & hold volume up and tap power button once.
Select factory reset/wipe data then reboot.... see how it goes
