Can anyone suggest an FM modulator that doubles as a charger? If there is a car mount that would be even better.
This one doesnt look qaulity; has anyone used this?

That’s how it is for every non IPod device. There are a couple Jabarra's and a Motorola out there but they don't have a charger for the phone.
I did purchase a non Bluetooth FM transmitter from Wal-Mart today for $30; seems to work decent. It has a digital reader to tune in the station and a USB port to charge your USB device. Since I've never heard a Bluetooth transmitter I really couldn't tell if there is quality difference. The sound on this plug in device seems to be about FM quality; which I assume is what you would expect.
Very similar to this device (same brand) but it has a USB port for charging and is cheaper ($30). IT’S IN THE AUTO ELECTRONICS SECTION. I also purchased a Scosche universal cup holder mount that was discontinued for $10. Seems pretty awesome for that price, but it's also my first one. Will tilt and go into turn into landscape. I got lucky with the power button as it's just out of the way enough to still be used comfortably. Sorry can't find a pic.

Hi,
I'm thinking of getting an FM transmitter for my N1. Sound will plug into the 3.5 jack. There's tons of different transmitters with USB. Like this one. The USB port is used to play music from a USB stick or MP3 player.
Now my question is: will I be able to charge my USB device (N1 or similiar) with such a transmitter? There's no word about it in the descriptions.
Thanks in advance,
knox
I use this one, and love it, and its available on amazon for next to nothing.
In case the link below doesnt work, its the Griffin Technology iTrip Universal Plus

thanks, mate, sounds like a possibility. unfortunately, this thing is not even close to nothing in germany but rather above 50 bucks. I think a little too much.
Do you have a clue about other transmitters? Is USB host mode sufficient for charging?
regards,
know
PS: which device do you use for charging? I read there's a problem when trying to charge the Droid. Seems to be a Droid issue, though.

How's the transmit power/audio quality on this?
Meanwhile I have been testing a Belkin TuneCast Auto Live and I returned it immediately. I hated it. Audio quality sucked huge donkey d**k: way too little volume, static and frequent interferences with other radio stations. Save your money on this...
My rental car had a 3.5mm audio jack input. So I just bought a Belkin 12V USB charger. It worked but it was too weak to keep the battery from being drained when I used Google Maps Navigation. However, it at least managed to slow down the drain significantly. So make sure to have a greatly charged battery when using the handset as a sat nav.
Hi all,
I'm looking for a Bluetooth car audio receiver that is specifically compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S3. The reason I say this is that I have tried several receivers that my friends own and while I can pair and play music with them, if I turn bluetooth on and off, I then have to go into the Bluetooth settings and manually connect to them again.
This is very cumbersome. I am looking for a receiver that I can pair once, leave in the car and forget about. My aim is to use tasker and an NFC tag so that whenever I get in my car, I scan the tag, the bluetooth turns on, automatically connects to the receiver and music starts playing.
Hence, does anyone know of such a receiver. Specifically, I do NOT want to have to turn it on/off. I want to put it in my glovebox and NEVER touch it again after the initial setup.

That is a deck. Not a receiver.
My car deck is already really nice and has an AUX. I'm not looking to change that. I'm looking for something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Britelink-Blu...781329&sr=8-9&keywords=bluetooth+car+receiver
I first bought a Soundfly that has a built in fm transmitter but the gain was way too low, so I returned it. Then I bought this: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CLYJ2I/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 and it works perfectly since I have an aux input and cig lighter power adapter hidden in my center arm rest. That's what I recommend, bit pricey, but worth it for me.

My AUX line in on my car is hidden in the center console along side a built in USB charger, and not really wanting to string a cable across to my mounted phone, this is what I've been considering. It's $70 though so I'm sure there are a few cheaper alternatives like what you linked to.
Edit: Looks like iMouseOne has the same idea.

Yeah...except if you notice on this one you have to turn it on every time you get in the car. That is exactly what I don't want haha.
I want something automatic. FULLY. I start the car, it starts playing music.

Forget the HTC stereo clip. I would go with the Samsung HS3000. There is a thread about it in the HTC evo 4g lte accessories thread. I have two and it's great. You can get them with some decent samsung earbuds for like $30.
I'd try the HTC one. It does support Apt-X that the GS3 also supports if you care about sound quality.
Perfect. I read about the samsung hs3000 and they seem to be exactly what i want. Ordering one tonight.
Thank you for the input everyone!

Agreed.

APT-X is supported only on the HTC One X and Samsung SIII so far, AFAIK.
It gives you HD quality sound via bluetooth. MUCH better sounding than A2DP bluetooth from what I've read.
I'm waiting for MFG's to start making car stereo's with the technology.
Currently there aren't any decks that have it.
Hmm, sounds like it may not be the solution you want though. A poster in this thread says he has to turn on/off every time he gets in the car.
Actually it sounds like this device has more than one "issue".

If you're gonna get the HS3000, there is a version of it that supports Apt-X as well, BHS3000. Sometimes it's just listed as HS3000 though so it's kinda confusing.

I think it is not the solution for your problem...for example in the car how you supply it?
Hs3000 stay always on? if yes when battery is discharged you have to remove it and charge it?
In user manual I read that you cannot use it during recharge.
Like you I would a Bluetooth car audio receiver that I plug in and forget, without recharge each time...anyone can help me?

You can plug a headphone jack into it, use a RCA->headphone cable. Then you just need to power it using a USB cable. I added an extra cig socket behind my dash wired into the original cig adapters power leads. Got a USB charger adapter and plugged it in. Starts when the car starts, off when the car is off.
I know this thread is old, but I had the same dilemma. I needed something small, auto-connect on car start, could be charging and listening at the same time.

It's perfect.
I looked over this thread and am shocked nobody has posted this solution. It is so freakin cheap compared to the competition and works just fine. Most bluetooth receivers I see costs $50 and up....this one costs $14-$18 and comes with all the accessories needed. I have 2 of them (one for my car and one for home). The one for my car I've had for a year already with no issue. The charge on it lasts about 4-6 hours before needing recharge. Honestly, take a look at this guys

Thinking of connecting this to my home receiver through RCA aux. Can this be continuously plugged in to a power source and still transmit the music or is it a situtation where you have to charge then unplug then connect to stereo? Hope that make sense. :silly:
Bit shocked some things like the Belkin bluetooth handsfree kit has not come up.
Belkin on Amazon
I picked up one of these, and it works better than anything I have used so far. I normally HATE Belkin for sub standard crap, but this thing has lasted longer than anything. I also picked up for 15 about to be sure I got good audio a ground fault isolator. I highly recommend you get one if the device that connects to the aux port also connects to the car for power. So unless it is battery powered I would get one.

For that price, you could have purchased a high def APT-X Bluetooth receiver.

Would it be possible for our phones to have a FM transmitter so we can wirelessly play music through our car without a cord/attachment? Or does our phone simply not have the software to be able to?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I think it's more an issue with hardware, not software.
Luckily, if you search Amazon, there are a lot of cheaper ones you can find that work pretty well. I unfortunately have a car deck that does not have the AUX input (it does allow me to plug my ipod in through the glove compartment though) so I know what you're going through.
Ummmm... Ok?
I also do not have an AUX input, but today I just installed this into my car (the itrips, etc. just didn't do the job) and I am loving it. It wasn't as smooth a install as I would have liked, but the quality is far superior to the wireless ones.

There are many 'Headphone jack' FM transmitters out there.. Most by Belkin, Scosche, Koss, etc will be along the same quality and roughly the same $40ish bucks. There are actually a couple Bluetooth visor-clip handsfree adapters now that have the Bluetooth music profiles and an FM transmitter built in if you dont want an extra dongle hanging out of the phone. I have a Jabra laying around that does that and it worked pretty well.. I used it before I bought a built-in speakerphone kit.
--- Umm seriously, why do I have to wait 5 minutes to edit my own post? That's just stupid.
I bought a belkin for my sister for her birthday and had to return it because the sound is terrible but then I found one at walmart for about $30 in the automotive department and it sounds as crisp as if is connected in an auxiliary jack, it also as a usb port to charge your phone and if I am not mistaken it can mount your phone giving it control, and if you have a well placed light or charging position it would be convenient, it also has slot to mount a regular sd card directly... it has a display with controls and remote control included.
world wide web dot walmart dot com /ip/Scosche-FM-Transmitter/16652629
I bought an install kit like the one posted from amazon. It puts a little ground noise in the speaker, especially if I use the charger simultaneously. It's all strapped in, inside the console, and my six foot cord comes out of a small hole in the back the cd pocket under the radio.
The right way to do it would be to power the modulator directly from the battery, not the radio fuse. And maybe even a power-line filter depending on how the modulator acts. But who has time for that?
Okay, I have an older car (2001 Dodge Stratus)
The stereo is not stock but it is still old and does not have a USB or 3.5mm connection. I used to use my ipod for music so I bought a --static.bhphoto.com/images/images345x345/424579.jpg--- for my car. (It plugs into the cigarette lighter and connects usb to ipod connection).
If I take the connector out I can run USB to Micro USB for my Galaxy s3 and it will charge. However if I go onto google music the sound will not come through my car speakers.
Can my device do this? Do I need a new device, that goes into my cigarette lighter? Do I just need a new stereo? I thought I would be able to still use the same FM transmitter via usb but it seems to not work. Are there 3.5mm cigarette lighter FM transmitters I could use instead? Any help would be awesome. Thanks so much ahead of time.
I just bought this:
Go groove flex smart x2 (not allowed to post links yet)
Play to your radio over your phone's Bluetooth. I've only had it for two days, but it's working really well. I've called over it, and the other end didn't realize it was over speaker, so it's nice and clear. You can charge your phone too out of the device, but it's a lot easier to just jump into your car and it sync on its own and just start playing music.

This device receives the Bluetooth from your phone, then transmits over your car's radio.

If you don't mind having to plug in some cables, there are plenty of FM transmitters out there that use a regular 3.5mm connection (to connect the transmitter to your phone) for Audio.
Some of them run on batteries, others you have to plug into your cigarette lighter. Some of those offer a micro USB cable or a USB port to charge your phone with, others don't.
Just look around on amazon or ebay. My experience with those transmitters wasn't good but it's been a while. Maybe newer devices work better.
Definitely get one where you can choose from a wide range of channels not one of those where you only have like 3 channels. Because depending on where you live there might be many radiostations that can overlay the signal of your transmitter. You have to find a channel that isn't used in the area where you usually drive around in.
Well i have never bought anything from amazon while "all" my friends buy stuff from amazon and despite the prices that they have on amazon compared to local shops is just amazing. You can buy fm transmitter for like 4£-40£ whereas here the cheapest is like 75$ really.
I am looking for one which has a SD card slot, may be able to be plugged into the 3.5mm socket and would get its "power" through USB and not one of those "car" sockets because i often have to use my GPS which hooks into one of the two USB ports.
I'm also looking for some decent car holders where i can pop my phone in easily..
Any suggestions?

As far as the phone holder goes, I use a phone holder that goes in my CD slot (as I never use my CD player): http://www.amazon.com/Mountek-nGroove-Universal-Phones-Devices/dp/B004G1L52Q
I run a GPS, in-car DVD player (for the kids), and phone charger - so I use one of these to power all of them: http://www.amazon.com/Three-Way-Cig...eywords=Car+Cigarette+Lighter+Socket+Splitter
As far as FM transmitters go, any other option is better. Does your car have AUX-in or Blutooth? I bought an AUX module for my Honda, as it didn't come with an AUX-in port. You may be able to do something similar.
If you must use an FM transmitter, maybe something like this will work? It has a phone charger built in as well: http://www.amazon.com/Excelvan-Wire...qid=1367368532&sr=1-3&keywords=fm+transmitter
