Is it possible or has it been done yet, I am looking for an app or something that would give me the ability to have two keyboards at once. For instance like swype for portrait and the multi touch for landscape. I know if you hold down and change inpute you can switch between the two. But I am talking about something that automatickly has it set up like this. I love swype but I only use it in portrait and I always have to go back threw and edit my words. So for those times when I am not on the run and can actually type id like to use the multi touch in landscape lol.
Id be willing to start a bounty if others get involved.
I have been looking for the same thing. Hopefully someone here will be able to do it.

I have a tmobile TP2 running SPB Mobile shell... just wondering if theres any way I can keep the phone in Landscape even with the keyboard closed and without always having the phone on its side. Is there a program I can download and run or something in the settings or file system I can change so that the screen always stays landscaped? Any help is apprectiated please and thank you!
no one?
Alright. aparently I am the only person [right now] that wants to keep their phone in landscape at all times, BUT if someone else does come across this I did figure out how to edit the registry and keep it in landscape.
First you need to have a registy editor.. obviously.
Second you need to change this -
Enable Manual Screen Rotation (Portrait/Landscape): HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (change from 1 to 0)
and Third go into
HKLM - HTC - htcsensor - iskbrotatebackportrait (change from 1 to 0)
Then you can go into Settings - Screen - Select Landscape Orientation and hit okay. Should switch it to landscape and stay even after the keyboard has been out and pushed back in.
There are multiple applications that can do this and they can all be found in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550973
My personal favorite and the one I currently use is Gyrator.
It runs in the background and allows you to set screen rotation rules for any or all application the device. It wouldn't be hard at all to set a rule for what you require.
... and yeah, I honestly think you're the only person that would ever want to keep their phone in landscape at all times. I'm not particularly fond of reading text sideways.
try this one

I might try this but I'd like to do it in a registry edit or something so that I am not running more programs than needed... and I don't read the text sideways I hold my phone on its side...lol

I tried this and it did work, when I ran the script the screen rotated fine, but as soon as I slid the keyboard out and back in it rotated right back to portrait mode again...?
To go along with my original post it DOES work when I change that value but as soon as I get a text or something and open the text [all in landscape] and close the SMS program it rotates right back to portrait.
I don't know how to fully write a script for mortscript but I think all I need is a script that will tell the IsKBRotateBackPortrait to always stay at a value of 0 and I would be good.
I can't get it to just stay at a value of 0. anymore help would be wonderful and thanks again!

You said it, not me.
Okay in that case it does sound like I am reading it sideways lol I apologize, but what I really meant was without having to rotate the phone onto its side and wait for the screen to rotate. I just want landscape all the time, every screen, without ever going to portrait.
Alright, in what will hopefully be my last post on this thread of me sorta talking with myself. While looking through the list of programs that was in the thread posted by SlyMaelstrom I found one called Changescreen. Link is here
http://idevelopstuff.com/dev/WM/Fuze/changeScreen/
Downloaded the cab and installed, its very simple to use and works like a charm. Set it to only have landscape as its orientation and it worked, never changes back.
Only problem I had was that it wont let you access the Dialer to dial phone numbers while in landscape, so I set an exception inside the program to switch to portrait so dialer can be used. Otherwise everything is good to go.
Thanks again SlyMaelstrom and meromar for the help!
Ok I seriously love swype in portrait mode it's just so much easier to use but that said it lacks many keys that the stock HTC keyboard has. So my question is, if there is anyway to use Swype when in portrait mode and then when you switch to landscape have it change to the HTC Keyboard?
Not that I know of, but that's a great idea!
I second that motion!!!!
I would assume the only way would be to make a script or app to make it switch...I don't think android supports switching like that. :/
That really is a good idea. It does not sound like it should be too hard to write. Lets make it happen. I will look into it when I have some spare time.
Does each keyboard apk not have different subprograms or something for each orientation? Seems like you could make a hybrid apk with each keyboard for one orientation. Maybe not.
totally wrong section for this.
Any progress on this?
Hey guys so I was wondering if there's an app out there that can make it so you can use a different keyboard when typing in landscape view and portrait view. I ask because I like to use swype when vertical but the regular touch keyboard for landscape typing. I know I can do the long press for input options, but if there is an app that can permanently set it so that is no longer necessary I would greatly appreciate it thank you very much.
nobody knows any way?
I asked this question about a month agp and i didnt get anu response either. Would be a very nice feature considering swype landscape is garbage. Wish i could help.

yeah i feel you on the landscape for swype itss way too difficult with how far apart the keys are. but thanks for your response hopefully someone comes in here soon and helps us out
It just came to me, the thought of having the rosie utility appear and disappear on command. Sometimes I like to set my Evo on its' kick stand, set it next to my computer AND set it on AniPet Aquarium but its a bummer that the damn rosie is taking up space. Its also nice connecting it to my TV and setting it on a wallpaper but the damn rosie. Not sure if this already done on home replacements, but i don't like them. Just wondering if it is possible as to make it like a removable widget, THAT'D BE AWESOME!. Right now I am rooted with Myn's WarmZ rom. Please only serious answers, I don't mean to sound dumb if this is not possible. Any advise would be great.
I've seen an app that allows you to just see your wallpaper, but I don't remember the name. You launch the app & the entire screen is just the wallpaper, nothing else. If the only time you use landscape is when it's on the kickstand, you could use Tasker or a similar app to automatically launch the app when you go into landscape mode. I'm sure it's also possible to set it to only open when you're on your homescreen & in landscape. Or you could just put a shortcut to it on your homescreen if you don't want to deal with automating it.
I'll do a search & see if I can find the app. I know it's not exactly what you're asking for, but it kind of solves the problem.
EDIT: I think I found it. It's called "Cleaner (Show Wallpaper)", and it's a widget. It seems to hide everything, dock/Rosie included.

THANKS. Ill try it out. Ill come back with an update.
I do not want to claim any rights to this app, I just wanted to share it with you guys. Apparently there was a thread another thread on this, but not for this device, and judging by the amount of downloads it has gotten very few people are aware of it.
This app allows you to use a different keyboard in landscape orientation then in portrait mode. Swype for example is amazing in portrait while it sucks in landscape, but I prefer swiftkey in landscape.
There is an app that allows you to customize which keyboard opens in either portrait or landscape.
Anyways, you can find it in the android market by searching for keyboard manager, as I think I am not supposed to put links here.
