08/Jun r4 WIP pre-release - MoDaCo Custom ROM for GSM Hero 2.1

All credit goes to Paul over at Modaco "not me lol i just copy and paste it all lol"
I'm pleased to present a WIP (work in progress) pre-release of my next Android 2.1 based MoDaCo Custom ROM for the GSM HTC Hero! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
This is a sneak preview of the base that i'll be using for the full MCR release... to give you all a chance to play, tweak, test, comment etc. etc.
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs - either shipping or leaked. A MCR release is designed to feel as far as possible like a stock ROM, with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed. You can read more about how to install a CRI on your device in this topic.
Features Included
•Based on the Chungwa 2.1 release
•Rooted with Superuser 2.1 by ChainsDD
•Built with the latest version of MCR build process which reduces the size and boosts the speed of the ROM
•STOCK KERNEL
•Rooted boot image with 'adb remount' permission and superuser APK
•busybox with Droid Explorer support
•terminfo and settings in boot.img to allow nano etc. use
•System dalvik-cache moved to /cache partition (cachedalvikcache)
•MCR version displayed in 'About' screen
•Added HTC_IME from Legend
•Added APN database to enable auto-configuration of Euro APNs
•Added Click-Drag rearrange to Rosie / Sense
•Added Voice Dialer
•Added Voice Search with optional standard android keyboard
•Updated Google Maps
•Optional dropbear (SSH server, username 'root, port 2222, password displayed in 'About' screen)
•Optional A2SD and A2SD+ (old style) via the online kitchen
•Optional baked in Wavesecure via the online kitchen (installed to system partition for maximum security)
•Optional WiFi Status indicator
•Removed Chinese content (will be available as an optional kitchen component)
•Completely de-odexed for optimal customisability
To install this ROM:
•Ensure you have a custom recovery image installed (see 'requirements' above)
•Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
•Restart your device in recovery mode (power on with the home button pressed)
•PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
•Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Note: As this is a non-odexed build, the first boot will take a while. After you have completed your initial setup, I recommend rebooting to allow the cachedalvikcache script to free up space on /data.
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.

Had a couple of force closes after installing my apps like swype ,so would advise against installing this until paul releases the new version
Yep I spoke too soon,... done a reboot, then everything went crazy!
It's back up now - just setting up, so far so good!
Just tried the second release of the ROM and loving it!
Really quick and no FC's yet.
Is it multilanguage? Include simple Chinse?
I think no chinese
From the features:
Removed Chinese content (will be available as an optional kitchen component)
Everything seems okay, but music player keeps FCing, and having the widget on the dekstop raises an FC every few mins

" It’s absolutely an innovative and new alternative to the usual ROMs that are being provided by the chefs.
So we’re really wondering what will happen with good old ROM chefs and the way we were used to download ROMs and test them – we guess this must be another symptom of ORD, we are almost having a nostalgic feeling about it.
We’ll see what the future brings."

Reports: Link
Bug/issue status: Link (thanks to HSAgoo)
If you find some bugs, please provide as much details as possible:
ROM version, both before and after your flash.
Factory reset or not, before install or after
Lagfixes installed
Kernel used
Theme version
Advice
- I strongly advice you to disable any lagfixes when upgrade to new roms or install new kernels.
- Always flash rom with FULLY charged battery
- Make backup of efs-folder (with Root Explorer or ADB)
- Do NOT restore system data, if you upgrade from 2.1 (Eclair)
- Do not factory reset phone if you have removed any apps from the base rom.
If you want to factory reset, flash the base rom before again if you made any changes
- If you do a factory reset after install: lancher pro, sgs tools. gallery etc will be deleted.

..:: BIG FAT WARNING/WARRANTY ::..
pele78 said:
once again I state loud and clear, that the beta kitchen is not supported by the RomKitchen Team.
Using the Beta Kitchen is at your own risk and entirely your own responsibility.
Beta Kitchen is public to open new doors for the I9000 community as a whole to further improve and evolve the SGS.
Beta Kitchen is for those who understand what BETA means.
Beta has no language barrier so using this as a excuse is not accepted.
Novice users should are and as always advised not to use the beta kitchen.
If users wish to risk using Beta Kitchen for reasons, such as ignorance, or wanting to be selfishly clever and want to be on the fast of fast and best of best rom or along these lines, its up to you but Odin is not always the answer to recovery, and just bear in mind the terms and conditions of Samsung Repairs when it comes to SU, etc.
Users asked for a long time wanting access to beta and now they got it, but again we will not be supporting beta kitchen - only listen to feedback ONLY. Wanting everything and being selfish dont mix, i guess that comes down to age, maturity and responsibility
Beta has nothing to do with donations or any other ridiculous comments suggested by others however smart they try to be with there wording.
If people do not understand what "Donations" mean then Google is yor friend and wiki has a vast catelog of info on this subject and terminology.
RomKitchen is not in any form of competition with any other dev, rom maker etc. This has never been the case, not now and nor will ever be.
All this nonsense and crap stops now!! THE END!! If people wish to complain and what ever idiotic reason which in the end only shows what kind of person they are when they start back tracking on what they say - Plain and simple, go download another ROM, there are plenty to choose from and various tastes and same applies to themes, apps etc.
If this crap continues, ill start reporting people on the grounds of creating a negative environment with the I9000 community... which still is considered to be one of the worst communities in xda, and i can see why! And help clear it up (one of the reasons the post count was introduced to stop spam rubbish etc)
Do not attempt to cause issues within the IRC Chat either or you will simply be banned and no questions asked. If you start to cause invaild unrest in this thread, then you will be simple noted and ignored and left to your own devices and hope that you end up with a brick and unable to apply for warranty on ur device. SIMPLE.

..:: Instructions ::..
Attention all users! Regarding /system corruption.
What is this about?
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848471
Am I affected?
Yes, you are!
But the new ROM already has a fixed kernel! Can't I just upgrade straight away?
No! You still need to follow these steps! Here's why: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9415545&postcount=9456
I already followed these instructions once. Do I need to follow them again when upgrading to newer ROMs?
No! If you've followed these instructions, you're good to go! Just follow the instructions for the regular upgrade method
How to fix?
01. Download K9 CWM file (from here), put it in your internal sdcard, also put Doc's ROM.
02. Boot into recovery.
03. Flash the K9 kernel, DO NOT REBOOT.
04. Go to Advanced ULK options -> reboot into recovery.
05. Now choose mounts and storage -> Format system
06. Now flash Doc's ROM, and immediately after, flash K9 CWM zip AGAIN! (Without a reboot in between)
07. Select reboot after flashing K9 CWM zip. Now if you had a lagfix applied before, you will get a prompt about change in config. Just select "remove new config" here.
08. DO NOT FLASH any bugged kernel after this, or you will have to repeat this process.

01. Disable Voodoo if have it installed (create a folder named “disable lagfix” inside the “Voodoo” folder on your internal sdcard and reboot). If you’re coming from sztupy’s kernel, disable all lagfixes.
02. Make sure have the 2e recovery. If you don't have 2e recovery, see FAQ.
03. Make sure you have a backup of your /efs (not mandatory, but highly recommended).
04. Factory reset is NOT required, but is recommended. Wipe cache and dalvik cache if you’re not performing a factory reset.
05. DO NOT apply any outside theme/battery mods. See FAQ point 9 if you want a circle battery mod with this theme.
Installation Steps (Read this very carefully!)
01. Download the ROM (check above) and put it on your internal sdcard.
02. If you don't have a clockworkmod kernel, download clockworkmod recovery from here. You *need* Clockworkmod, this won’t work with stock recovery. Rename the clockworkmod recovery file to “update.zip” and put it on your internal sdcard.
03. If you had Voodoo installed prior to installing this ROM (Eclair or Froyo), make sure you still have the "disable lagfix" folder inside "/sdcard/Voodoo". If you’re coming from any other kernel, make sure you have disabled all Lagfixes.
04. Shutdown phone, wait for it to power down, then boot the phone into recovery mode (press volume up, keep it pressed, then press home button, keep it pressed, then press power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it).
04a. Do this step *ONLY* if you don't have clockworkmod already in your kernel. Select “apply sdcard:update.zip” (use volume rocker to move up and down, and home button to select). Clockworkmod recovery will boot now (you may have to do apply update.zip twice for Clockworkmod to show up).
05. Once in Clockworkmod, select “install zip from sdcard” (use volume rocker to move up and down and the back button to select).
06. Select “choose zip from sdcard” and then select the ROM zip package. Then choose yes.
07. The update will start (will take some 1-2 minutes) and during the flashing you will see some strange big characters on the screen, don’t worry, that’s normal. After the process finishes, you will be dropped back into Clockworkmod recovery. From there, choose go back, and then reboot phone.
08. The first boot will take some time as the ROM will deodex
Upgrade instructions (from previous versions of THIS ROM only!) (Thanks ragin!)
Always have a backup of your apps/data (Titanium Backup/MyBackup)
01. Download the updated ROM from post No. 2, and put it on your sdcard.
02. Boot into CWM recovery.
03. Choose install zip from sdcard in CWM, and browse to the downloaded zip file, and apply it.
04. Choose reboot phone.
05. If you had any lagfix applied previously, when the phone boots, you will be presented with a menu. Choose "remove new config" in that menu. The phone will reboot. If you didn't have any lagfix applied, the phone will boot straight!
EDIT: If you find the above difficult to follow, please have a look at this wonderful guide created by nitr8: http://nfye.com/toolkit/Doc-Froyo.pdf
..:: FAQ ::..
01. I don't have 2e recovery, how should I install this ROM? Disable Voodoo (if you have it), then install the corresponding CFRoot kernel to get 2e recovery, then flash this ROM as usual.
02. My apps are not retaining settings! Have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9778957&postcount=15980
03. I am on XXXXXXX ROM/Firmware. Can I flash this ROM? Yes you can, as long as you have 2e recovery. If you don't, check FAQ point 1.
04. What ROM do I need to be on to flash this ROM? This is a complete ROM, does not need a base ROM. You can flash on any firmware!
05. I am getting force closes with Maps/Voice Search/Google Search Update the apps from the market (they require manual update).
06. I'm getting error while installation (line 79/80) Make sure all lagfixes are disabled before you install this ROM, then reboot to stock recovery, clear data/cache, then try again.
07. I'm getting force closes all over the place Have a look at this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9006234&postcount=4097
08. My Market is not working This is not a ROM problem. To temporarily fix, Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage -> All -> Market -> Force Stop -> Clear Data -> Uninstall Updates.
09. I want a circle battery mod! This is now very easy to do! Do the following:
- Download any theme template from post No. 2, and flash it via CWM.
- Extract the file "framework-res.apk" from the "system/framework" folder inside the theme template zip you downloaded.
- Go to http://circle.glx.nl/ and customize your circle battery mod, when it asks for framework-res.apk, upload the one you just extracted from the theme template zip.
- Wait for some time, and you will be provided with a zip file to download. Once downloaded, put the file on your sdcard, and flash via CWM.
If the above is difficult to understand, here are alternative instructions from Adevem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9028090&postcount=4512
10. What happened to the full ROM? This is now a light and modular ROM. Just install the upgrade packages or missing apps update.zip from the 1st post via CWM to get the full ROM.
11. OMG I LOVE THIS ROM! What can I do to help? We're glad you like it! Stick around here, and try and help fellow users, that would be a great help! If you wish to donate, please donate to Doc (he's the actual person behind this ROM), sztupy (for the ULF kernel), curio (for voodoo) and many more of the awesome devs around here! If you're still feeling generous, you may donate to me too!
12. I am using the slim ROM, and I don't get the puzzle on the Samsung lock screen on an SMS. The Slim ROM contains AOSP MMS (SMS) app, hence no support for Samsung puzzle lock screen. If you want the puzzle lock screen for SMS, either install the FULL ROM, or extract the Mms.apk from /system/app on the full ROM, and push it in the slim ROM.
13. I am using the ASOP lockscreen, and when I press the menu button, the phone unlocks. Install this FIX (ONLY FOR XXJPX) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9921936&postcount=403
14. I am using the slim ROM, and KIES does not work. The slim ROM does not have the MTP apk, use the FULL ROM if you need KIES.
15. Some apps that use camera are force closing (barcode scanner, camera 360 etc) Try point #2 in this FAQ. If that doesn't work, do a factory reset.

"custom" constains "3 jXX frameork.zip" (framework for each versions, at least 1 is NEEDED)

Extra note:
Works only with froyo!
Will NOT wipe your data/settings (but after 10 flashs, you should wipe data/cache)
Can be used WITH lagfix ! (not recommended but works, after flashing the rom if you had any lagfix the ULK menu will popup saying "config differs", select "remove old config" you will be lagfixed as before flashing.)
Spare parts, busybox, root, superuser, sgs tools, sgstoolbox and launcher pro are included. (you can uninstall them if not needed)
See post 2 for reference/info

Usage:
Boot into recovery,
select "ULK and AIORK menu"
select "AIORK"
select an option:
"Install rom (common)", (install base rom)
"Install modem (modem)", (install modem.bin)
"Install kernel (kernel)", (install kernel)
"Install custom app (custom)", (install whatever you want)
"Install mod (mod)", (install mod)
"Install theme (theme)", (install theme)
"Reboot", (reboot the phone)[/I]
How to install rom:
Download and extract the rom pack on you root.
http://www.multiupload.com/603NI211U8
You should have:
sdcard:/aiork/common/
sdcard:/aiork/modem/
sdcard:/aiork/kernel/
sdcard:/aiork/custom/
sdcard:/aiork/mod/
sdcard:/aiork/theme/
You can add .zip in folders.
How to cook your own parts:
Kernel:
Download "kernel template.zip"
Open archive with 7zip
Replace "zImage" with your kernel
Put the file on "sdcard:/aiork/kernel/"
Modem:
Download "modem template.zip"
Open archive with 7zip
Replace "modem.bin" with yours.
Put the file on "sdcard:/aiork/modem/"
Custom/theme/mod:
Download "custom template.zip"
Open with 7zip
Make your changes (it uses phone file structure, so if you create an "app" directory and put some apk here, when you ll install the custom file it will write in phone://app/ etc...)
Put sdcard:/aiork/*your choice*/
NOTE:
This is just for testing purpose.
It does not wipe your data.
Kernel and modem are already in the provided "common" rom so dont worry if you see the redbend_ua screen.
Kernel in the "common" rom provided is not AIORK kernel, if you plan to use the kitchen after, select the AIORK kernel after you applied the rom.
AIORK kernel provided is base on ULK 0.4 kernel so lagfix works.
For kernel cookers: you can add the AIORK to your kernel easily
Download "recovery.zip"
Extract, place it in /initframfs/out/sbin/
Make your kernel.
Rom pack uses DocRambone v7.5 for testing purpose, so NO SUPPORT, if you get errors use retail Doc version.
Pack contain v7.5 JPO, patch to JPA, modem JPP and JPM, medium and full app pack.
Thanx to Sztupy, Cyanogenmod, Koush, Supercurio, Aery, DocRambone and everyone I forgot to make this possible.

FYI (deodexing rom):

The project:
Create an All-In-One rom package where user can choose wich rom/kernel/mod/theme to install.
Motivations:
I love to switch between roms/themes/kernel/mods and it take me times to install and try something that fits my needs. So I wanted to created some kind of all in one update where we can choose what we want to install.
How to:
Basicaly, every roms use commons files like applications/settings etc... but custom/themed rom use files that differs (because these are custom roms...) so I was looking into a lot of rom to see how they were built and managed to find "common" files to every roms that we'll call "common files".
Then to these "common files" standards roms use standards app, and customs roms uses customs apps.
Then we have mods, and kernels that can differs depending on the cooker preference.

love the idea

kind of kitchen a la modaco or samdroid
but better
will it take online kitchen - hence bandwidth ?
or dl the parts and use local tool to build ?
nice work
keep doing
It will be a monumental task to have this going. Many of the roms are more or less specialized and even mixes of different base roms.
And the bugs introduced will require a big amount of support. But i look forward to this
Good idea, thanks

Well this is a BIG work but I am confident, I am currently testing with JP6/JPM rom using doc barebone rom as a common file and darky raw steel as custom file.
So common files and standard/custom files are ready, theme and kernel is ready for test too.
Menu editing in CW should work too but I got problem compiling CW in the kernel.
I tried ndk-build and make but cant compile so right now I am stuck here.
I ll search on google to find how to compile CW modded in kernel like there is in ULK.
Hey franklin, the one thing that CAN put your ROM could be a minor detail.
On the Top of the screen, coming from right to left, Battery->circle, Signal strength->circle, 3G/H->circle.
Signal strength, kind of a circle divided, showing green or yellow/red.
After that all circles.
Can you manage THAT? If you like this IDEA, mention me.

Well I think it is possible but I am not a dev anyways, just some guy repacking things.
But I ll look to see if I can do something about that.
(may need to edit framework-res , find the original signal bar icon and mod it using the battery mod icon so it should be possible but not until tomorrow)

This AIO ROMcould be the climax of all OCRF's
All circle:
This is just a test, it is awful but it works so if someone want to try/edit/make something beautiful feel free to do.
How to:
Get system\framework\framework-res.apk from your phone (using adb or root explorer).
Open it using 7zip (or winrar but 7zip is better to repack).
Extract res\drawable-hdpi\
Edit png you need (open to see which one is)
Then put things back to the framework-res.apk (using 7zip, drag and drop modified files)
Put back framework-res.apk to your phone (using adb, root explorer or update.zip method).
Here is my moded all circle awful mod... tested on JP6/JPM and the update works with CW and 2e recovery (rename to update.zip).
WARNING:
Can damage your phone as usual (well if you have JP6/JPM it works fine, no worries) but can also damage your eyes ! (it is just a test, I am no artist and this mod is awful... should not edit with mspaint)
About all in one rom progress:
currently cooking some kernel to see if I can make this work but have to do it on another computer, atom 1.6ghz are not made to compile kernels...

Optional: (As it is not necessarily everyone wants / needs)
A2SD + support + cache Dalvik move to SD Card
Fixed bug when data / app is symlinked to apps2sd
Important for Dalvik cache to SD: (via terminal emulator from the Market)
A2SD cachesd (Dalvik move to sd card)
A2SD cache part (move to Dalvik cache partition)
A2SD cache reset part (move Dalvik to partition cache and clears contents of Dalvik Cache)
Other commands that I am aware:
A2SD zipalgin
A2SD check
A2SD help
Check Partition via ADB commands / Android SDK and PC:
adb shell reboot recovery
adb shell
parted /dev/block/mmcblk1
print
P.S. For A2SD + and Dalvik cache to SD,first partitioning your SD card!
Then flash zip which I attached
Before flashing via recovery menu,Mount Data
and Mount system so that the pack is installed.
Because there is an error in the updater script.
For MIUI 1.4.1:
Optional attached Mms APK with the new UI from miui.dev forum!
The rest of Chinese language,I've removed and now it`s
completely english.
Original Mms APK from official miui.com 1.4.1 release
attached too,if you need it!
Both zip files can be flash via recovery!
MIUI-Bread 1.4.8 lockscreen patch:
If you like 12 hour or 24 hour at lockscreen, then go to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12891484&postcount=214
Maybe after flashing, you don`t have the 4-way reboot option
at the lockscreen. So if you like the 24 hour lockscreen and the
4-way reboot option, then flash attached 4-way reboot Mod.
Nordic and Spanish keyboard language:
For Spanish and Nordic hardware keyboard language, look at this post
and do some tests.

Optional: Latest CyanogenMod Kernel from CM7 Nightly builds

Optional 2: Pyro Kernel OC-UV-Swap-CC-Smartass 1.0.1 (Thanks to blahbl4hblah)
WiFi,Camera,Video,seems no problems.
I only edited a little the Updater-Script at the kernel zip
and deleted the "boot.img".

at here: (Thanks to 144saint )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13121325&postcount=397
But maybe you don`t need the build.prop from this post, because
I edited the build.prop at MIUI-Bread v3.8 to the following:
(build.prop now included at all new versions since v3.8)
Code:
ro.product.brand=tmobile
ro.product.name=htc_vision
ro.product.device=vision
ro.product.board=vision
Trackpad wake:
Seems at the new 1.4.29 builds for Desire Z,trackpad wake was removed
from settings menu.
If you want it back, take a look at here: (thanks to Herrera91)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13415208&postcount=636
Maybe don`t work for feature builds,so you can try this option:
[GUIDE] enable trackball/pad wake on the latest MIUI builds again
Camera button don`t open the miui camera:
Ok,now I did a test at v5.1 and removed Cyanogen camera from system and the
folder at data/data too.
Then wiped dalvik and cache!
Now camera button opens the miui camera.
T-Mobile Wifi Calling for Desire Z/G2 Gingerbread
Can´t test T-Mobile WiFi calling because I`m at germany and as far as I
know it don`t work outside the USA.
But you can take a look at here:
[Patch] T-Mobile Wifi Calling for Desire Z/G2 Gingerbread
Dark Themes and call issues:
Maybe go to Dialer settings and enable "Thirt-party access".
Some users reported this helps, but not at all!
You`re looking for nice fonts, take a look at here:!

Newest nice Simple Black Theme by "liuyufr_cn":

Other Notes:
Backlight toggle issue: Before using "Backlight Toggle" in drop down notification bar, got to Settings/--> Common/--> Display Settings. Turn Off Automatic brightness and use the slider to adjust screen brightness to your preference. After doing this, the "Backlight Toggle" will not turn your screen black on initial selection.
Google Voice setup instructions: When launching for the first time... go through the screens enter your info and when you come to 2nd screen of "Set up voicemail" press skip, that will put bring into the app. after that you will need to manually select the Voicemail service. exit out of the app to the home screen and go to settings/-->common tab/-->Call Settings/-->Settings[scroll all the way to the bottom]/-->Voicemail service/--> google voice. after you do that it will then set itself up
Maybe take a look at here too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13579066&postcount=227
First you can try to wipe phone again,I always using this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13091824&postcount=1
Then flash ROM again and uninstall google voice, then install again!
SMS,Contact issues:
http://code.google.com/p/contact-number-fixer/downloads/detail?name=ContactNumberFixer-1.05.apk
Maybe try this, otherwise you have to delete the "-" between the numbers.
Easy to do at you google account and then sync again.
Awesome! Before I try this, can I flash this over the abandoned MIUI that G4rb4g3 was maintaing? Also, have you had any luck with the 1.4.8 version that's out?

I believe it's safe to flash over since they're both basically the same build (1.4.1). Ganii just modified it to his own tastes.
I'm no developer but if you need any help, just ask
will you be doing 1.4.8 as well?
this rom is really sweet. a couple things i noticed, the pulldown bar defaults to settings and not notifications (not sure if thats miui default or not) but maybe 25% of the settings are in german. just looks strange with everything else in english.
also, i was able to achieve bootloop when scrolling around in USB connected mode seemed to be tied to when i turned wifi on. i havent been able to reproduce this however.
all in all really great job so far
*edit* i also have no contacts. only rom ive had that didnt load them. i guess ill have to try and find them.
*edit* i flashed the eng mms apk and everything is in english now, contacts are up, and everything is running very smoothly. thanks so much for this. keep up the good work
Flashing Now!

Pulldown bar to settings is normal for me since I`m on MIUI!
And no problems with language if I change language at settings/system/Language and Input settings.
There is English available.After changing,reboot!
Maybe some words,strings/values at the xml files not fully translated at some apps!
Is it possible to remove the custom slider on the lockscreen?
And monocrome icons in the settings and menus were much nicer
Music app force closes

@Ganii
I've deodexed the 1.4.8 release for you, get it here.
It's the stock MIUI release, just deodexed, and I changed the fingerprint to the one from HTC.
I would recommend you to translate the rom only, don't add/replace things that MIUI team didn't (except for needed things, like the keyboard). Also I would recommend you to not change the default skin of any app in the rom. It's not MIUI then. If anybody wants to theme it he can use theme manager.
This way it won't break any MIUI defaults and will save you some time.
Another thing I would recommend is to put all english strings in /values/ folder and not in /values-en/. If you use /values-en/ it will show you only english strings if you select english in settings. If anyone changes the language to anything else it will show a mix between the selected language, english and chinese.
I copied all chinese strings from /values/ to /values-zh/ and replaced the chinese stuff in /values/ then.
This way its possible to choose any language in settings, the system will be in english the user-apps will be in the selected language if they support it.
It's just android default to have all english strings in /values/ folder.
You can use /values-de/ for german of course.
Feel free to ask if you have any MIUI related questions.
If you want I could host the files for you (with ROM Manager support!).
Thanks for the infos and maybe sometime I need a little help.
You also mean I should not theme the ROM?
Hm,I`m a member at miui.ger too and all custom ROMs there
(Desire,Desire HD,Nexus One etc) are themed.
What about optimize the ROM,to make faster, better performance?
Think that are needed thins too!
Also deodexed the stock chinese ROM too,but no
fingerprint from HTC.
Why fingerprint from HTC?
http://www.miui-germany.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=525
P.S.And yes, hosting to ROM Manager would be nice, maybe you can do this.
I don`t understand all at here:
http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Android
Just my 2 cents.. an unthemes miui would be prefered I think. Some use themes and if a theme doesn't replace images you have themed already we will have conflicting themes/images.. I shall be moving to this one 1.4.8 drops. thank you.

Ok,so unthemed in next 1.4.8 release

Should be solved at version v1.7!
P.S.MIUI-Bread_1.4.1_GaniMod_v1.7.zip (92 MB) available in
few minutes!
For testing and how it looks:
miui_DesireZ_1.4.8_Stock-deodexed_2.3-EN.zip (78 MB)
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/RNDAKVBH/miui_DesireZ_1.4.8_Stock-deodexed_2.3-EN.zip_links
P.S.It`s stock English version, not optimized and fully translated.
Maybe some bugs there too
im not exactly an expert on miui roms as its been awhile since ive been on them but however this rom is currently (themed or unthemed) i like it as it is. its gorgeous and runs really well. so if it is themed then count one vote for themed.
I have the deodexed english translation done and uploading. You can use that. Would be easier since I dont actually own a Vision.
