Stuck At HTC White Screen :/ Bricked?

So I think i have officially bricked my Evo. Apologies if this is the wrong sections. Didnt know where to put it.
Well I had rooted with Simpleroot and everything was just fine. But when i tried to install a copy of the Fresh root suddenly i was stuck at the white screen. So i went into recovery and and wiped everything. I also partitioned the sd card... Dont know if i should have done that but i figured it would wipe everything.. It did and now my zip files are gone. I Dont know what to do.. Yikes

Probably shoulda gone into Q&A....but u erased all.the data on ur card when u formatted it. You should probably follow the root instructions again from the start including copying the files to your sd card and u should be fine.
You could have done a simple search and fixed ur issue.

Your Evo isn't bricked.
Select the USB-MASS toggle feature in recovery mode, that'll mount your SD card to your computer, then drop a ROM or two onto the root of your SD card, wipe, then flash one.

Or pull the SD card out and put it in an adapter and plug into computer, then drop a couple roms on it

Youre definitely not bricked. Pull the battery out, boot into fast boot, wait a sec while it does its thing, then select wipe/restore factory defaults. Then it should be fine. This happened to me 2 days ago. When bricked, the phone won't even turn on. It does nothing, thus the term.

Im sorry you feel that way maybe you need to hug from someone but not me. There was nothing rude or wrong with my posting. Yeah Anyways. The problem now is that everytime i try and boot from a zip file i just get a white screen. Is there anyway to bypass this?

Which ROM's are giving you theses problems?

Ive tried the fresh 1.0.1 thats when it all started then i tried the EVO-NonSense.
I had been flashing roms before the Fresh one now im just stuck at the white screen.

Are you using Koush's Clockwork recovery? Try flashing Yay 4 Juggs ROM.

Im using the RA recovery that came with SimpleRoot

Hmm i'll try. Is there anyway to earse my root and start over? Because for now im just get the htc Evo 4g white logo everytime i try and flash a new ROM

Did you update the radios and all that too? Did you make sure and use the right version of simple root for your software?

Yeah Yesterday I was flashing ROMS normally. Something may have happened when i tried to flash a radio and wimax

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBu6GsRZMdI Some random video I looked up on YouTube that shows you how to unroot. It's a hassle, to unroot, then root again, I'd give flashing a different another shot before I did that.
Stupid question: Are you wiping data and dalvik cache before flashing a ROM?

every rom is (bad)!!!

every time i try to flash a rom i get this error: can't open /sdcard/signed_virusROM_R1_KINGSLICK.zip

that was the error for that specific rom, but instead of virusrom it would have been bakedsnack or cm6. please i havent had a phone for 3 days i need some help here

sounds like a memory card read issue to me.. Format the memory card and try again.

i will try this, i believe i know how thanks.

i generally just have to restart recovery and it will work i have had the same error a few times and just have to try again once i reboot

i cant even reboot. its stuck in a bootloop, will pull itself out, then go back into it after the setup freezes. ive flashed different kernals, different roms newest wimax and radio updates, ive done everything a noob can do after being here for a few weeks. and no one seems to be helping me and more and more threads are popping up with same issues as me

ive seemed to have fixed it. i wiped phone like 10 times. reformatted sd card, installed the rom called virus. it went to bootloop. so i let it do its thing. when i woke up today, it was perfect!

thats not working perfect, thats called one f'd up phone.
sounds like a bad memory card and you can wipe and format all day long, the card is still bad.
are you using a different card than the one that came with the phone?
if so put the original back
if not, go get a different card.
if the original is bad take it to the sprnt store and see if they can replace it.

haha thanks. its been 8+ hours i havent had a problem using,saving,loading,calling. idk man, still think i should go take it back??
o and yea im using original sd caRD. how do i explain the problem if to them without letting them know it has been rooted?

Just act clueless and be like "I just took it out of my pocket and it was acting weird" if all else fails plead the fifth

Clockwork recovery after UnrEVOked. Help!

I rooted my Evo last night with no problem and then decided to risk taking chances modding. I ended up replacing the HTC lockscreen with the vanilla one! However, I ended up trying to do a clockwork mod (the one that has the battery number on the top) and now my phone is in bootloop. I can't get my computer to recognize the phone now to download something on it. Anyone know of a way around this?

You should be able to pull the battery and be able to boot right back to recovery. Did you try that? Loops are POST recovery override so I would guess you haven't tried this yet?

Yes i'm in recovery but everytime I try to recover it goes into clockwork recovery and bootloops again. My laptop doesn't recognize the phone either.

Have you tried "fastboot?"

Yeah I did and I keep getting the error message "Connection failed" on my laptop. I'm on Windows 7

Have you tried a different USB port? Strangely, sometimes Windows gets picky with a particular port / phone combo... and then choosing a different port often fixes connection failures.
Also, did you try factory resetting the phone as well? Like... clear storage... followed by full wipe?

Yeah I tried to reset factory but it resets it right into "Clockwork recovery." Trying to change ports now.

Yeah my main problem is I downloaded that mod and I need to get the phone back to how it was when I first used the Unrevoked 3.2

try booting to fastboot... then reboot your PC... then use a previously unused USB port... switch things around if you have to.

Actually... I have another idea...
IF you have unrevoked forever on there, I am guessing this should work...

that thread shows how to easily get switched to amon_RA from clockwork essentially in one easy step... but it requires that you push the img file.. which you are mentioning you cannot do... BUT... if you have a card reader/writer, you can pop your micro SD card out of the phone and into a reader/writer and put the img file in its root... along with a ROM of choice. then boot to the phone and it will automatically ask you if you want to restore the image file. say yes and you will be loaded up with amon!! amon is better. once you have that on there, pull the pcimg36 file off and flash the ROM that you picked from your amon recovery.
does this make sense? if not i can try to give better detail.

Okay this worked! What rom should I download? I would like one that has the Vanilla lock screen and then i'll look into Nan unlocking after that. Thank you so much again. I haven't gotten anywhere until that post

Cyanogenmod6 is simply the best, but it is VERY buggy at best and needs and unlock, which you don't have. I like Ava v7 because of it's simplicity and stability. A lot of people like evio and baked snack though. I don't know why. I don't personally.

HELP! Stuck At White Screen

alright look i know this is the wrong section to post this but im panicing right now and in the other sections there stupid! so i been on myns rls4. i havnt updated because i never have a good connection to download it on my phone and i was computerless. well i download the combo from calkulin radios. i installed it thru clockword and i was left with a white screen for 30 min. i took out the battery and was just gonna reload myns rls4 or restore an old nandroid i had. but now it says my sd card wont read and some /dev/block/mmcblk0 shows up and it will not let me access my sd card. so now im stuck with a htc evo 4g white screen. ! sumbody please help me!

can you get into the bootloader? or try to repair your sd thru the computer.

yes i can access the bootloader but i cant access my sd card thru thu the computer . my phone wont pass the white screen. is there anything i can do thru the bootloader?

Adb to the phone and try to nan restore, if you can take the sdcard out of the evo and connect it might help. Or try to connect usb in recovery.

try adb remount /sd card

Try restoring through nand?

Maybe you should read a little more. The best way to get the information you are looking and to keep it retained in your head is to discover it your self.
A quick search for ADB How To might do the job.

yea im tryin to do adb i guess. i got my sd card to finally show up but wen i try to load the nandroid which yes i should kill myself for being so lazy which dates way bak to 10-01 . it jus stays frozen on the that bootscreen i had

i swear all i tryed to flash was the combo update of the radios from calkulin and all this had to happen! ughhhhhh fml!

this happend to me also with combo update i know u say u cant access sd but if you can just flash an older radio and it should fix it. i had to put my sd in a adapter put it in pc dl old radio put sd back in phone then flash. fixed it

You really need adb. I know is kinda scary I was in your shoes once .but read about it download it play with it it will help you in the long run I have done what u have done at least 3 or 4 times the answer is here in the forums. It kills SD card and usb that's why your computer wont see the sd card . Only other option is if your have a SD card reader plug it into your computer sorry I can't be more help.

I had this happen to me on a plane, almost exact same circumstances. The HTC kernel in RLS4 is not compatible with the latest radios.
You need to use adb to push one of two things to the phone:
1. One of the alternate kernels - They work with the latest radios
2. The older (octoberish) radios - Something before the december release
Steps-ish:
adb shell
-> mount /dev/sdcard
-> exit
adb push one_of_the_two_above_zips.zip /dev/sdcard/zipname.zip
Then use clockworkmod to flash that zip from the SDcard.

i finally got an old nandroid to load up so ima just go from there. im losing alotta important things but ill learn from that but i do dearly thank you all . !

everything is gone?? why??

ok, so i turned my phone off, took out the battery, took out my sdcard, and replaced the back casing on my phone. now that i boot up, my phone is back to default as if i just flashed a new rom. i see that my apps are still there on my sdcard, but my homescreen and all my settings are gone. i tried fixing permission, but no luck, anyone got any ideas?

I assume you put the SD Card back, too??
Are you running A2SD?
What ROM are you running?? Kernel?? etc... need more info
You can try to Just reboot and let it sit for about 10 mins.

yes sir i put the sdcard back in.. and yes i am running a2sd. i am currently running team dirt cm9 1.7 with mason kernel version .15rc4 sbc
tried rebooting several times and allowing it to load.. it's weird because it's not like i turned the phone on while the sdcard was out.. not too sure what could cause this, this is not the first time neither, usually i just reinstall everything but man.. it's been so long since ive ran into any sort of issues.. i nand restored an older backup without reflashing the ext partition, i got most of my settings back, so thankfully i was able to work from there. but i would still like to know what could have caused this. thanks for your reply hipkat, good to know someone cares to even try..

Why did you do the pull, etc. in the first place?

My first thought was that card wasn't fully seated, but I know that's hard to miss. It's pretty odd, for sure.

seems to be the only logical explanation, im possibly assuming finger prints on the sdcard leads.. because i did turn my phone off and gave it a wipe to get the sdcard read by the phone, but my settings wouldn't come back.
