You might want to provide a little more info, such as the version details from the About Phone section.

hope this is helpful.
Android Version : 2.2.
Software number : 2.09.405.8.CL218634 release keys
Thanks in advance
According to the HTC Website, the latest build should be 2.10.405.2.
I'm not so hot with rooting / gold card stuff myself. Perhaps check / post in one of the threads specific to that?
The updates offered by the latest build aren't really game-changing, though.
1.Android OS update patch 2.Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support 3.Improved Russia keyboard layout

You cant install a OTA update on a ROOTED phone. Either u unroot the phone or wait for newer version of the custom rom.
Yes you can I have done this before. Tell the update to just download. Go into clockwork mod and disable signature checks and the other one im forgetting what its called . Tne go back to the main menu and press apply update.zip

[Q] Google Maps 5.1 download problem...

Did you?
Anyone?
I get the same issue here. I am currently in Indonesia and therefore only free apps (which in itself is bloody annoying as I want to get access to the good stuff) but I too can't get Google Maps 5.1. If I use the link from the website, it opens the Market place and then reports that it can not find the application.
I thought it was free so why is it not available?
The sooner the Market is available here the better otherwise I am stuck with an expensive phone with no real good apps to download. I know I can root etc but I don't want to do this just yet.
Dave...
I have resolved my problem by my self and this is to all you are having this or similar issue...

[Q] Backup to google

I remember seeing an option to backup the apps and it's data to Google servers (Under Settings --> privacy) on Android 2.3.2 and after the upgrade to Android 2.3.3 it disappeared.
Anyone got any idea about this?

That option is only available in Android 2.3.2. I also couldn't find that after the upgrade to Android 2.3.3.
I can confirm it is available on 2.3.2... I'm hoping to upgrade soon to 2.3.3 and will let you know if it's disappeared as well.

100% sure it will disappear. I've tired it 2 times already. All I wonder is what is that and why was it put in that place on 2.3.2 and was disappearing on 2.3.3 !!

[Q] HTC Desire HD Wifi Udate ?

I just purchased a desire hd and found out that it had the wifi proximity problem.
The software version of the device is 2.37 something and I have received the latest update. I have tried to have the phone check for software updates but it always says the phone has the latest software.
Can someone please help me and tell me how I can get the update or how I can fix the wifi problem ?
2.50 is the latest update, it fixes wifi issues. Preses The menu button > settings > about phone > software updates. Be patient.

I believe that's the current for unbranded devices. For example I have an inspire (us branded dhd) and our most current is 2.47.502.7.
@op I believe 2.37 is probably the current version. For your carrier, so until they release it your stuck well unless you decide to root and debrand.
What kind of wifi issues are you having. I'm not personally familair with that build so it may or may not be a known issue with your build

yes that might be the case then. I have a t-mobiles set and that might be the reason for the delay. The wifi works but its not strong enough. Places where the signal is weak it doesn't even search the wifi or doesn't connect. Even at my home where the signals are strong it doesn't connect everywhere .... The correct build number is 2.37.110.5 ...
Guess I just have to keep waiting ....
An option would be for you to Root your device and flash a custom ROM - that would sort out your Wifi problem pretty quickly!

Even if u did install an older version it would just auto update itself to the latest & greatest. If you are having a problem with the current market there is a new version (3.2.0) floating around in this section...

You can easily downgrade your Market, and it WON'T auto-update, as long as you "disable" the marketupdater.apk: rename it by just adding .bak to the end of that system app. Here's an older version of the market that won't do any kind of density check on your device, and you'll be able to see all the apps as well. (Credit for this originally from user and friend Jayharper08) Just install normally, and make sure to change that updater app!
