Titanium Backup SU error? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone knows what this error means or how to fix it?

I assume you are rooted already? If so, I would grab the new superuser app that was just released and install it. That should clear up any SU permissions.

My guess is something didn't install correctly or got borked somehow. At any rate, update your superuser and see if that fixes it as the previous poster mentioned. I believe there is also an update to busybox on the market as well.

[Q] Busybox not installing

Denizzje said:
Hey all,
I am having a problem with busybox. According to the 1.18 installer, I have 1.15.3 installed. But the installer won't let me upgrade because 'the nand is not unlocked'. When I try the older 1.17 version, I suddenly have no busybox installed and have the same message with the failed instalation. What can I do....

Which it does not. I don't understand, it makes an update.zip for me, I apply that update.zip, I go to busybox installer, it says it has 1.16 installed, but when I want to update to 1.18 I get that nand error again...
Should I flash to a different firmware?
assuming you have it rooted, you still
need to login to your Gmail account in Android Market
else the installer will not work, it will say DONE but it did nothing.
the only way to install properly is via Android Market busy box

Problem with Superuser and stock ROM

Just got the AlphaRevX rooting done. S-Off, no problems. Got Titanium Backup installed and installed Superuser. After installing Superuser, tried reopening Titanium and it said it couldn't gain root access. The phone said Superuser needed to be updated. Tried that and said the update failed and placed a new Superuser file on the SD card to go into recovery and flash manually. Tried that, failed to flash that file as well.
Any ideas? Anyone else experienced this?

Still S-on my friend.....
The first link on that OP is the superuser stuff and the 2nd link is the stock kernel.
When you get around to running root, if the Windows isn't fixed yet, do the Live CD with Ubuntu. It's not a bad process at all and works perfectly.

Yeah, I'm kind of boning up on how to do it just in case.
It's not bad at all. The Live CD works like a charm and actually has given me enough reason to start fiddling with Ubuntu next.

That happened to me as well but I just rebooted the phone. Once the phone was rebooted I installed busybox and that seemed to fix the problem

[Q] SuperUser is being weird

I'm running 4.1.1 via Bugless Beast and am loving it. Odd issue though.
When I reboot my phone, it takes like 3-4 minutes before SU can grant root access to root apps. So, if I try to run any root apps before SU "catches up" they just fail. Don't think this was a problem before upgrading to JB.
This may be related, so I figured I'd mention it too: My Trinity Kernal settings don't seem to stick though a reboot. Any ideas?
Just tried re-installing SU from CWR -- no dice. This isn't a deal breaker, but it is rather annoying. Everything works fine after 5 minutes or so.
Maybe try updating the binaries
SuperSU is the recommended superuser solution for JB. You might try making the switch and see if it works better for you.

here is a flashable SuperSU. after flashing it and booting, open up the SuperSU app. if it asks you to update the binaries, go ahead and do so. if it doesnt, then youre good at that point http://download.chainfire.eu/204/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip

I can second this. With Jellybro CM10, I have the 4-5 minute wait time with SuperUser, but zero wait time with SuperSU. It's happened on every single one of the nightlies that I've flashed.

[Q] Can't open SuperSu

I'm currently running rbox's updated 51.1.4.0_user_514006420 ROM. I can still grant superuser access to apps that request it, and apps that require su function properly, but I can't open the SuperSu app itself, it just crashes. When I try to open it from the KFTV launcher, the screen blinks and it returns to the applications menu. If I try to open SuperSu from XBMC, it causes XBMC to crash as well.

I think it has to do with the way I'm installing it. In theory if you were to delete the SuperSu.apk from /system/app and sideload the apk yourself, it might work better. And if you horribly break things, you can always just reinstall the prerooted rom to get it back.

I deleted it and sideloaded it back. Same behavior. Just want to get into its settings. I used the latest PlayStore version APK.
Yeah, same here. I ended up installing Clockworkmod's Superuser and uninstalling SuperSU. All I needed was the ability to disable notifications on a per app basis.

You'll have to re-approve superuser requests since it's a different app. I believe this is the same superuser app that comes with Cyanogenmod

From what I read the supersu is always the best one to choose. Certainly with phones.
I just dont know why we cant launch the app as normal to adjust settings.
Can you launch yours? Can anyone?

I don't know about "always the best". It's all the same crap really. CM ships with Superuser and it seems to work fine for everyone using that.
I can't launch it either.

I also had the same issues. However, I was able to fix it by deleting "/system/app/SuperSu.apk" and then side-loading an older version of SuperSu (2.01). So, it looks as if the issue may be with compatibility with more recent versions.
