I got me a new 16GB class 6 card to store all my music. Today, i transferred a few albums to see how fast the card was.
The weird thing was, the music app no longer read any of the metadata. It read it fine before i did the OTA update (but i forget how long ago the sing files were on). I haven't changed the format of my music (.m4a @ 400kbps) so i'm not sure why it's not reading the meta data.
It seems that no app will read the meta data or that for some reason the metadata won't copy over. It's not the card either because just yesterday (on my original microSD card), the phone didn't read the meta data.
Any info/help is appreciated.

I'm running the 9-11-12 M1 nightly, and I'm experiencing an issue with my SD card. I haven't seen anything posted about it so my apologies if this has already been addressed. Really I'm having two issues, and they may be related.
Firstly, I can browse the SD card via windows explorer when I hook my phone up via USB, and my SD card shows up with accurate usage readings within settings/storage on my phone. However, whenever I try and use my file explorer on my phone, or any other feature that involves accessing the files on my SD card, I cannot. Apollo picks up my music, and the gallery pics up my pictures/video but nothing else seems to detect my SD card.
Secondarly what is happening is that everything on the SD card is being duplicated, as well as deleted, at random. Suddenly my gallery shows doubles of everything with one file being the normal picture and the other being completely blank (however with the same detail information). I view my phone via windows explorer and every folder is doubled, with one set of folders having the appropriate files and the other having various filetypes as numbers, as in instead of "picture1.png" it'd be "picture1.13." And then they'll suddenly all disappear. I listened to music via apollo on my way to work. I get to work and hook up my phone to the computer with the intention of copying some songs for a co-worker, and the entire music folder is gone along with all my pictures.
I don't know if this is a CM10 error, a hardware issue with the SD card, or I'm missing some sort of setting. Any advice at all would be helpful.

Have any luck with this? I've got a similar issue. It sees the sd card in storage and if I go into the gallery, the pics on it are grayed out, but if I try to use an app that needs storage, it says no sd card present.
I have a galaxy blaze, just found this post when searching for an answer.
Bump...same problems.

I've seen a number of threads mention this, but I haven't seen a working solution yet.
I recently got a new microSD to hold my music on, but whenever I copy music to the card it dumps most of the files into LOST.BIN foler with a numeric filename and no extension. I've used the typical drag-n-drop method to copy, as well as Unstoppable Copier, both through the usb to phone and straight to the SD card. The SD card has been formatted from windows and from android, it doesn't work either way. I've checked for bad sectors on the card, and it's fine. I've also tried clearing the cache data from my music player apps. Non of my music files are licensed, so it's not a security issue. Everything looks fine on the SD card until I pop it in the phone, it instantly fusterclucks. The music files were previously working on the phone's internal memory, and the SD card has behaved like a right gentleman until now. I don't know if I'm just moving them in too big of chunks, or if there's some sort of compatability issue.
I'm planning on moving the files over in smaller portions just to see where its breaking point lies. If I don't find a solution soon I'll likely factory reset the whole thing and try again.

hello
i bought a note 2 which came with a 32gb kingston sd card but im having problems getting things to stay on the card without it flaking out on me
i have tried 3 times now to add about 15gb of music to the card. twice all in one folder and the 3rd time i put it in 3 folders as i thought maybe the file was too big.
the 3rd time i thought it had worked
it showed the storage as about 15gb remaining but then later in the day i went to the music app and i only had a few artists in the playlist so went to the sdcard and it shows the folders but with weird names and if you go in to them there are no and it showed total space free of 29gb i definatly have not deleted any files manually something starnge is going on
i have formatted the sd on the second try but made no diffrence.
do you think my card has died??
heres a screen of what the folder names look like

It appears to me that the file system on your SD card is becoming corrupted, which tends to happen when a card is failing. Try a different SD card and see what happens.
Could be a fake card and you don't actually have as much storage.

Hi guys,
So the other day i go into the Gallery app and notice the photos that have been taken by the camera appear to be corrupt.
It is strange because it appears that the most recent pictures are viewable but majority of the older ones are not. All other album folders that i have created are fine.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so were you able to restore those images through the phone?
I'm sure if I connect the MicroSD card to a pc and use data recovery tools i can still retrieve them. I just find it kind of odd that it only happened to one particular album.
Images are being saved to a Sandisk MicroSD card.
Please see photos of what im referring to.
i've had 2 Sandisk microSD cards fail on me before. I read somewhere that sandisk cards is more prone to failure in samsung phones. Pity because my sandisk CF cards for my camera all work flawlessly. I went with Samsung 64GB cards. Last time they were on sale at amazon for pretty cheap.
It did that with a video of mine but it became normal a bit later. Kinda strange.
i had a similar thing happen to me and I had to format the extsd and it fixed whatever the issue was.
I'm having the exact same issue!
I just moved my SD card over from my note 3. Was working fine on that phone. Pictured look corrupt at random now but may appear back later on.
I'm gonna try backing up all my stuff and formatting.
Ya i find that very unusual. From my experience with external storage, when it becomes corrupt, most times all content is not readable. I guess im just going to have to do data recovery on the corrupt files, format it and transfer them back on to.
Same issue here. Noticed this a few weeks ago (2 or 3) and just deleted the blank images. Hasn't come up since then but I'll keep monitoring it.
Had this happen without the sd card...
Strongly suggest you hard reset if it happens on the device.
I had that happen on an SD card once and then ultimately everything got corrupted. Copy everything off it, Format it and copy back on.

tablet has worked flawless until this happened, the music will only play the first second and then skip to the next track. if its in a play list, it will play every track like that until the playlist is done. i already tried a third party app to play music, and updated. wanted to see if theres a fix
Is your music on your internal storage or external, or are you streaming? If local, I would guess external due to most of these devices having limited internal storage. Could be you need to reformat the MicroSD card from the tablet to get it formatted correctly - maybe the files are corrupted due to a format problem. Lots of people have issues when they format from a PC, or don't reformat the card after they buy it.
its funny you mention that because thats what i was thinking of doing last night before going to bed (they should have a reddit called bed thoughts) anyway, yes i will try that
Edit:Just an update, i noticed all the music had a file size of like 32 kb, so somehow all the music go corrupted. im going to copy the original music back on and see if it corrupts again. not sure if it was the rom or the actual sd card.
