Horrible 3G speeds..Whats the problem, is there a fix? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im not sure what is causing it? Custom Kernel? ROM? I have the latest Radios .. Im running Fresh 3.1.0.1 with Netarchys 4.0.3a Kernel, Manup Revolution Theme..I have CDMA ( auto)prl set in network settings. I continue to get slow 3G like 200kbps down-500kbps.. I reflashed the RADIO and I instantly got 1600-1800kbps down..but after a while it slows back down.. I have good signal and all.. is this related to the PRI 1.34 thing.. I dont know much about it.. I know theres a new version, I have full root ( nand unlocked etc etc) .
edit: sorry just realized I shouldve posted this in Q&A, can a moderator kindly move it to the correct section?

Try a factory reset.

I have similar issues, however Im running the HTC 3.26.651.6 OTA leak ROM with the 2.6.32.15 htc-kernal

well Fresh 3.1.0.1 is based off 3.26.651.6..gonna try the 2.6.32.15 htc-kernal, but I'd missed the FPS UN-Cap hack with netarchy's kernel plus 5 point multi-touch

you're right.. The thing is I "JUST" did that, and installed this rom the other day, and built up everything I have ( apps, settings etc) to now do it all over again? and then possibly still have the same issue? No thanks lol
Im just wondering what could be the issue..Ill try the stock kernel..but radio and kernel are 2 different things , not sure that they would conflict like that

Don't know how exactly it works, but when I first rooted my data speed CRAWLED. I did a hard reset and everything was back to normal.

download titanium backup. backup all user data and apps. after the hard reset you can restore everything.

nand basically takes a picture of your system and allows you to see whats on it to back it up. titanium will restore everything

It will just restore your defaults so to speak, clear out any jacked up settings, misbehaving apps, etc...
And of course you did a full wipe prior to flashing your rom right, I know it should be common sense for the majority, but there are still some lazy people out there that I guess that don't realize the awesomeness of TB...
And there is always the off chance sprint has something going on with there towers, with all the upgrades and rollouts ya know...

You can try updating your profile and prl under system updates.Sometimes they get lost when you flash a new build. You should also check and make sure you're running the newest radio, baseband should be 2.15.00.7.28.

[EDIT] FIXED: I called sprint to see if there was anything on their side, knowing that they'd deny anything. Got the standard tech runaround (remove battery etc) and oddly enough, the removal (1min) of the battery did the trick. I can now see signal bars and have 3g back. Sigh
[/EDIT]
this seems oddly similar to what i'm experiencing. my signal cuts in and out from 4/6 bars to none with an X. I had this issue on the latest fresh, CM6, and now the latest Baked snack.
I don't have working data at all (except for wifi). Have reflashed and rebooted multiple times to no avail.

Help Needed. Need to get back to Rooted 2.2 or 2.3

Hey guys. I have a problem and not sure how to go about this. My Evo was at 2.2 rooted for a long while and all of a sudden it started acting up. It would always freeze and had to be rebooted constantly. So I had a back that I went back to successfully but it is at 2.1 now (Baseband 2.15.00.09.01)
Now I'm not getting the OTA update to 2.2. I go into HTC software update and it says no available updates for my phone.
So how do I get to 2.2 or 2.3 rooted?
FYI after going into bootlaoder and choosing Recovery, I get Clockworkmod Recovery. Is this normal?
You need to flash the stock rooted ROM for the latest OTA update. I would suggest trying out some different Roms, though. That's the best part of rooting.
And ClockworkMod is the most popular recovery for the Evo, so yeah that's probably right.

It's pretty easy actually. Once you have root again (if you don't already), go to http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic and download either the newest nighly (30) or RC2 to your memory card.
Boot into Clockwork and go to backup and restore, and choose nandroid backup or backup (I'm not using clockwork, so I don't know the exact verbiage). Once the backup is complete, do a full system wipe by clicking on wipe data/factory reset.
Once that is done, choose install zip from sdcard, scroll down to cm_supersonic_full-30.zip and select it. It will install and then ask you to reboot. Go ahead and reboot.
Once your phone is up and running again, you'll want to get back into recovery so that you can flash GoogleApps, which you can find here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/.
You'll flash these just like you did CyanogenMod 7 a minute ago, although you will want to wipe your cache and dalvik cache (which is located under "advanced" in the Clockwork menu) first.
All you have to do then is boot back up, go through the walkthrough to set up your google account, and then you'll be running (close to) stock Gingerbread 2.3.
If you need any help, feel free to ask.
Awesome!!! Thanks blackroseMD1!! I'll give it a try when I get home from work tonight. I'm not rooted right now. The last time I rooted I used unrevoked because it was so easy. Would that be good enough to get the process rolling?

Many recommend wiping data/factory reset (which I know was suggested and you've done), but also cache and dalvik BEFORE flashing any new ROM. Also, with CM, is it not suggested that you use Format_All?

Your best bet is to use YouMail, which is free in the market. It's a lot like Sprint's Visual VoiceMail that you have on Sense roms, but with more features. I use it, and I love it.

Are you using Task's AOKP? The last few builds work without the ''revert my alsa'' zip (and you shouldn't flash it as it will break other things).
Did you make a clean flash? If you didn't, then do so.
Also, did you restore any system apps? If so, once again, clean flash and don't restore them.
Don't know what you did, but I use Task's AOKP and bluetooth works great. Just do a clean install.

my att s3 lags a LOT

hi, i have a samsung galaxy s3 (ATT).
its rooted, ive been on a few roms this last month, and they all lag at times. sometimes it works flawlessly like it should, but there are many times when my phone just lags. its so bad that i literally have to pull out the battery and put it back in to reboot since rebooting the regular way lags and takes forever as well. ive wiped the system and installed new roms, cleared cache, messed with performace settings (i have them set to 1500 mhz or lower). i have no idea whats causing the lag. must i wipe the entire internal sd first and then install another rom? i need an opinion, any help? thanks
Have you made sure that none of your apps are slowing the device down....I would install something like trepn profiler and see what your soc is doing

No wifi
I love love love this ROM, it's incredibly fast, I've got the debloated version. But I have no wifi on it. The wifi stays off and when I try to turn it on it flips right back to off again. Any suggestions? I wiped, cache, dalvik, everything before and after and reinstalled once. Will reinstall again.
I'm using TWRP vs CWM-would that make a difference?

I didn't ever specifically change kernels (if that's possible). I just installed 4 or 5 different ROMs over the course of the past few wks to see which I liked. I made back ups of my original stock/rooted ROM and several that I liked. I've got SlimKat ROM on here now, would it do any good for me to go into settings and see which kernel it is? Probably not, I suspect.

Ok cool thanks. Really not sure what the wifi issue on your setup might be. Works fine here and for other users as far as I see. I did a quick Google searche and the top solutions seem to be a factory reset, the "wifi fixer" app in the Play Store, or possibly trying different settings/channels/reboot on your router. If nothing works, then it might be because something got corrupted in the base over time by flashing different TW/AOSP ROMs, in which case it might be worthwhile to Odin stock firmware from sammobile and then install this rom and test. Might be more hassle for you than it's worth (especially if your other ROMs already work fine), but just trying to provide options lol. You could also try Regular instead of Debloated to see if there is any difference in wifi for you there.

I appreciate your input very much! I love this rom. I've got it installed again messing around with it while the Regular version is downloading. (I'm bestowed with slow rural internet). I'll let you know if Regular works better. It's probably going to bug me enough as to why it doesn't work that I'll go to the trouble of going back to stock, re-downloading and trying it fresh

Enable Android Encryption
Has anyone been able to successfully enable android encryption using this rom? I tried with the Deodexed version, safe boot, turning off SuperSU and haven't been able to get it to start encrypting properly. I need it since I have policy looking for encrypted state before I can allow mail to be made available.

Hi, I've flashed both the regular version and the debloated version on my N5110 after clean wipes.
The wifi will not turn on in either case.
I've done factory resets from within settings.
Any ideas?
I've read the thread, the Q&A thread, and done a google search to no avail....
I'm coming from stock 4.2.2 (rooted and unlocked of course) where everything worked... it just seemed to have a pretty short battery life.
I've reinstalled the nandroid backup and wifi still works there.
I'd really like to try this.
Thanks for your hard work as a developer by the way

Not sure...Works fine here but I saw another user report this a while back. The others said all working fine so I'm assuming something may have got corrupted on your setup along the way. Perhaps you can try using odin to flash the latest stock firmware for your device from sammobile.com, then try installing twrp through odin and finally my rom through twrp. Best way to eliminate variables and start fresh

Worked for me. Nice smooth Rom... thank you I hope this saves me from constant looping unrooted stock provided. Although battery life seems to still drain quickly. Any thoughts?
Edit to say im having a slight issue with the tablet shutting down on its own when not in use.

Thanks for confirming! Yes flashing different roms can corrupt system files so a fresh odin install is always a good way to start clean. No issues here with the tablet shutting down..could possibly be due to a rogue app conflicting with something or an xposed module. As for battery life I agree. Not worse than stock but not better either. The built-in battery is now also probably less efficient than it used to be, as they all do over time. Sammy should have put a bigger battery in this tablet!

I did a battery pull and that help a great deal with the battery life . Also I don't think I have had the issue of shutting down maybe the rom needed to settle in lol. I don't know but all is well now thank you so much for this rom. My tablet isn't trash anymore.

Hello sefrcoko
my Note N5110 currently has the stock fw 4.2.2.
Once I have root and custom recovery, can I directly flash your rom?
Or I have to flash the stock fw 4.4.2 before your rom?
Thanks a lot
Bye
