On my last Windows Based phone, I would go to File Explore>My Device>Windows>Profiles>guest>....here I could see Folders for Cookies, History, and Temporary Internet Files...where I would delete these temporary files after surfing the web to clear memory.
On my Tilt2 I realized I have to individually select each file to delete it...that I couldn't drag the highlighted file or have an option to select all...
Is there a way to delete these temporary files without going through and individually selecting each file and deleting them individually? Is there a way to select all or more than one to delete at a time? Or is there a better way to do this all together?
Thanks

Just wondering how to download system files. ActiveSync's explorer shows it moving over, but never appears on my desktop.
Reason I am asking is because I would like to edit some of the screens (such as in call)
Also would like to delete junk that I am never going to use....
open active sync and click on explorer and drag the files you want to your desktop edit them drag them back to folder when ask to over write choose yes hope this helps
Not allowing me to drag them?
is your phone cid unlocked
I used Window's search engine and it is popping up in the temp files directory for some reason....
So with that squared away, anyone know how to delete files that are "secure"?
Am I missing something, or is the process for adding email attachments just horrible?
Just now, I'm specifically trying to email a few photos at a time.
If I try and do it from File Explorer - when you highlight more than one file, the "Send" option in the menu isn't available.
If I try and use Total Commander, the only option is to send via IR.
If I try and do it from within the 'compose email' screen:
a) if I try Insert -> Picture, I can't select mutiple files. And it takes me to the devices "My Pictures" folder every time and all my images are stored on storage card, so it's a real hassle having to go back and forth.
b) if I try Insert -> File, it takes me to this HORRIBLE "Open" page which seems to be attempting (and FAILING!) to show all the files on my device in one window. And even then, you STILL can't select multiple files.
Is there any way to do this?
(Very weird - and annoying - for a business device to fail so badly at something like this. Unless I'm missing something!!)
Thanks, M
To the best of my knowledge, you are doing everything right. I don't think there's a way to select multiple files to attach all in one go.
What I normally do if I want to attach multiple files, I use Resco Explorer to compress the files into a zip. Then I attach the single zip file instead.
Thanks ohyeahar. I'd thought of that - and may still use this method at points - but there are times when it'd be good to use single files as well. (e.g. uploading photos to facebook, they have to be single jpg files)
Just seems terrible that such a basic functionality is left out.

In Resco explorer if you slide your finger over the icons, it makes multi-selection. Just if you missed it.
I wanted to know if anyone happens to know the folder location of the Calendar storage. I want to have Tasker clear that particular folder automatically after a set number of days, but I don't know where that folder is located. I find that in S Planner (also occurred when using standalone Google calendar) that the weather does not properly sync. Only clearing the calendar storage data forces the weather to sync. Any help would be appreciated.
I have not tried this but you can check.
Goto Internal storage/Android/com.android.calender
sent from my GT-N7100. Press thanks if I helped you...

Thanks, but I forgot to mention before that I navigated to this same folder with ES File Explorer and deleted the contents of that folder. It did not clear the data for calendar storage. Although there were a number of folder entries dated at least a month back in a folder called 'Serial' (only folder within the com.android.calender directory) with multiple directories named like '1122267608' and the like. I even had the view hidden files option in ES File Explorer turned on.
Hi, I have upgraded the TWRP for the purpose of ROM upgrade and after that I can't find any files that use to be on internal storage before. I remember that on the internal storage there was a bunch of standard folders and folder 0 with all those folders and actual files inside. Now the folder 0 is gone (tried all file and folder managers on the phone and on the PC with option show hidden files and folders, but cant find it). Every file manager shows that the internal storage is full but when i check the available content shown there is less than 300mb all together.
Is there a way to restore all those files that I am missing and can anyone help me do it?
Thanks.
Install ES File Explore/ any file manager from Google Play Store. Using this app just enter in your phone storage, that might be sdcard0 named drive in it. You can either go/select from homepage of this application. All you notice there is folder labled '0' and so on. This depends on how much time you flashed custom rom not samsung like, it'd create folders inside that '0' labled folder. If it's hissen you can also unhide all the directories from same app by clicking your menu button Tools>>Hidden files check 'Show Hidden Files'. For advance hidden menu goto settings>>Display settings>>Show hidden files.

Thank you for the reply. I have already done that. It shows some hidden folders but all together those folders are 160MB, and the phone shows that the used space is almost 6GB. Also I still can't find those lost files.

This seems that you've got a big cache mem problem. So you've to reset your phone by Settings>> Backup & Reset >> Factory data reset. This will clears your phone storage completely
Note: Backup your all important data somewhere as it formats full phone storage.
Factory data reset helped for me. If no other options then go for it
Try Developer Options and make sure USB debugging is enabled. This helped to a certain extent. Initially when I selected all folders on my phone it only showed about 13Mb. Now its showing around 2.5Gb which is still not all the phone data but at least I can free up some space
Is it possible to clear timeline in stock My file app? I have tried to select a file and delete by tapping bin icon, but this deleted that file also from original folder.
Also looking for a solution, let me know if you find out if its possible
I also would like to know
Is there a solution yet?

I've been looking for a way to clear or disable the Timeline myself with no success. Perhaps Timeline items go away only when you move the files off the device(?)...
Unfortunately the "My Files" "Timeline" content is actually controlled by another process called "Media Storage" (this process scans all the files on the device looking for pictures, music, and other content then it builds a database so the system or apps such as music players can quickly find the content, it usually runs on boot-up and can update occasionally.
The only way to clear (or temporary clear) the timeline content is to clear the "Media Storage" database, by clicking "Force stop" and "Clear data" on the Media Storage process, though if you do this it will just rescan again eventually, and if you turn it off or prevent it from scanning you can loose access to your ringtones / alarms and other system sounds , also any music files on the device as a lot of applications use this service (otherwise everything would need to scan the memory card ./ memory for files causing increased cpu overhead and device lags....)...
See screenshots.
Thanks a ton, otyg! It's not an ideal solution, but it's better than nothing. I mostly wanted to clear the Timeline data and start it over, and this does seems to do that.
Figured it out
Plug tablet into the computer. Rename the folder that you don't want showing up with a '.' in front of it. I.e. "Adult" to ".Adult".
Then install Astro File manager, change the settings so that you can view hidden folders. And then you can still access the folder from the tablet, but will not show up in Timeline or the stock file manager.

you might also be-able to add a .nomedia file to the folder too this is supposed to prevent the media scanner from scanning the folder contents, though it doesn't work on all devices and I haven't tested it with timeline. or samsung yet., thought I would throw it out there if anyone wants to test.
At this time it's still unclear if you can hide items or completely remove the from the recent items list, with out moving every little file and or download and the list will only repopulate as you continue to download or add files. Just tap the added date above each subsection and collapse each individual section. While this isn't a permanent fix and the list will repopulate once you reopen the My Files app, it's only a minor inconvenience for someone who uses the app occasionally.
I've got files stored under sd card, folder, folder, .folder, folder, photo media scanner use to not see it and doesn't see it on my s5 but my tab 4 sees them if I click don't show hidden files it don't
