I got the new firmware is not the 2.2 one its 2.1 update 1 and the baseband is i9000xxjm1 i wouldnt download it mate i have lost all my apps and now i am unable to install myplayer for some reason.
Too late, it's upgrading itself Hope TitaniumBackup will restore my all apps

Updated my HTC P3300
Fingers crossed while flashing my device, but it worked.
Updated my device with dutch rom from htc.com.
My device is quicker and is stable.
Tomtom is not updated in the ROM still version 6030

i registered - but couldnt get the update as my serial number was registered as a HTC branded device but a T-Mobile UK. How else can i get this update?

sorry to ask this question as I note from the posts you are all slightly ahead of the game than I am.
I have attahced a screen shot of my version of ROM I was wondering if
a. there are updates that I should install and
b. whather the Rom on the UK HTC site should be used or have I got a newer version.
Please be kind with the responses and I am not that smart

Its the latest official UK rom to date.
Both your questions will be sorted if you choose to update since its newer and often better.

Sorry if I am being a plonker but the attached is a newer date than the one on the link does that mean that the ROM I have on my diamond is newer than the one on the link and the HTC website?

Not a devoloper. Though, we do have a few devolopers that wanne be able to dump the XXJF3 rom.

I think you need to download the DDJV6 (2.3.3) firmware from samfirmware.com and flash it according to the instructions given on the site.
This should bring you back on official firmware and KIES should work normally.
You can use SpoofFw. Very easy to use. Just follow the steps in the application. Search for it in the market.

Phone Version: JV4
CSC Version: JV6(INU)
Currently I am using the different CSC Version, everything works fine with it but I am desperately looking for CSC Version: JV6(INU) only.
DDJV6 (2.3.3) firmware from samfirmware.com doesn't helped me to get the JV6(INU)

You say your on Darky rom, that's means you are already rooted.
Use spooffw as already told.
After help from vortexmak , I have downloaded DDJV6 (2.3.3) firmware from samfirmware.com. After installation DDJV6 (2.3.3) from ODIN my phone comes to normal and now I am running official firmware on my phone. And phone is un-rooted now!
For SGS Gingerbread rooting, I searched for the same but no luck!
However, the main problem is, the firmware I am currently using is different CSC version and I am looking for CSC Version: JV6 (INU) which is not available on samfirmware.com.
samfirmware has the JV6 csc version available. Did you download the same ??

The csc you have right now, is it multi csc?if it is, you can try a simple trick: type *#272*yourimei# and select INU(if it's there). I do this every time with ORO.i select it from multi csc.don't know the asian firmwares very much,but i gave you the general solution. It should work.

Did you check his phone? Please do that before you flash this, because, if he is already on 2.2.1, then there is absolutely no point in flashing this ROM. (Android version can be checked in Settings > About Phone > Software)
But, to flash an RUU (EXE File), connect the Wildfire to the PC, and simply run the EXE file. It will do the rest. The only prerequisite is that the Sync drivers are installed. This can be found on the SDCard which came bundled with the phone.
Re-iterating it to you again - Check your friends phone. Don't perform this if his phone is already on 2.2.1

No, as I stated in my first post in this thread, there is no official version of Gingerbread available. The ones starting with 2.x in the filename is a Froyo ROM, and the ones starting with 1.x in the filename is an Eclair ROM.
It's not necessary to flash Asian version. You can get a WWE version as well. (Like 2.22.405.1).
Just one last thing - Has your friend checked for any OTA (Over-The-Air) updates? It can be found in Settings –> About phone –> System software update . In that way, if available, your friends Wildfire will be flashed with an India specific Froyo ROM. If there doesn't exist one, you can go ahead with flashing an RUU
