As the title says, when i first switch my phone on how do i stop it installing all the rubbish?
Many Thanks
Daz.
Poke the soft reset button just before the installation of the 'rubbish' starts. No harm done on to the phone.
Ahhh right, thanks for that.
How do i do a hard reset to go through it all again cos it's installed it all now?
Cheers
Daz.
Also...........where can i download WM6?
No offence, but for a person with 32 posts, you are seems to be asking some relatively 'newbies' questions. Anyway, if you look at this screen now, on the top, you get the "XDA-Wiki", which if you go there, to the correct section, you will find all the answers for all the questions you've just asked.
And, as a contribution to others, if you happen to find some other useful information, you might as well update the Wiki as well
My phone is showing that I have a voicemail, but I have erased all of my VMs. This started yesterday, and I have reset my phone as well as re-installed the ROM and the message won't go away.
Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?
There are a number of threads on this in here already. Try a search. Also, more descriptive thread titles are better.
*I wouldn't have posted this if I didn't search first.
Don't worry about it though because I fixed it.
Thanks for the help!
I downloaded the apk file, have tried to put it in different directories, but I have had no luck actually installing it on my phone. Can someone guide me on this path...?
Download an installer app from the Market. You are rooted, right?

Yeah, I rooted it. Every app installer I installed force closes when I try to run it. I moved into my download folder and just ran the install from Astro File. Thanks for your help!
Instead of creating a new thread, I thought I would ask another question here.
How do I load an overclocking kernel?

Download it to your SD card (root directory), reboot into recovery, and flash the zip just like a ROM. You may want to wipe your cache and dalvik first, some people say it's a good idea. Don't wipe data, obviously.

Dude, c'mon really? Have you read anything in this forum? Two of the biggest threads in the dev section are about kernels. They are marked [KERNEL], and they have all the info you need. Check those threads out and if you still dont know how to "flash" an OC Kernel after reading them, then i would recomend you not try... Good luck!
Just a heads up, not many people will answer a question if it is something that can be easily found in this forum... Also not reading will get you the "Google it!" response more often then not.
EDIT: Sometimes you get lucky and run into people like SilverZero........

I have searched the forums for all kinds of stuff, but I had trouble finding this information. Sorry for the inconvenience.

First I want to give credit and a thank you to bogomil4e for posting this over on the 6p threads. I got it from over there. tested it to see if it worked for the 5x and sure enough it did. next I want to give a thanks to the devs and moderators for there support and hard work on this site. thank you all very much. lastly I want to ask if any moderator sees this to please sticky this because it's very IMPORTANT!!!!
now on to what I wanted to say: if anyone and I mean anyone who ends up getting a bootloop or an animation freeze and than a continuous bootloop from an EFS file corruption (you get it by making a backup of everything in the twrp recovery and then you restore everything with the EFS file system which results in a bootloop and nothing not even a stock flashing can fix it, found out this is due to a bug in the custom
recovery preferably TWRP 3.0.2.1) follow what bogomil4e says for you to do. I ended up searching for a solution because this is what happened to me, searched and searched until I found out that it was an EFS file corruption and searched EFS file corruption and say the post on over in the 6p community. tried it and it worked for the 5x as well. heres the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/announcement-twrp-3-0-2-1-fatal-bug-t3453119
its true what everyone says, if you want to find out something you must search and search and search and don't give up. answers are out there. solutions are out there and i'm posting this so no one would have to go through the habit of having to have to search all day tooth and nail because it is a headache.......thought i'd make it easier for you who has gotten in a bootloop situation from EFS like I did. once again, thank u bogomil4e for this solution. :good:
edit: make sure you hit the thank you meter for bogomil4e
