So I'm busy designing a theme and I couldn't help but noticed that the display on my EVO has a pretty strong and obvious blue tint. I know that this was a issue with the new displays but is there a way to apply a color profile to correct the color?

check the xda portal, there's an article about color correction.
cm6 has a color profile renderer as well.

Hi guys,
In the next version of SpeedMod, I'll be making some changes to the color of the UI. In the JPX source code drivers, there are some new configuration settings which are interesting.
This kernel is based of K12F and should be stable. It is labelled K12G-TEST.
In this thread I will upload 3 different color settings:
Neutral
Warm (more yellow: use this if your screen is too blue)
Cold (more blue: use this if your screen is too yellow)
No color management
The purpose of this thread is to gather feedback from you about which color setting you prefer.
I realize that there are at least 2 types of screens with different colors - one which is more blue, one which is more yellow.
The file with "-warm" is the warm color version.
The file with "-cold" is the cold color version.
The file without "-warm" or "-cold" is the neutral color version.
The file without "-noc" is the version with no color management.
Reserved for future use.
On my friends SGS his whites are more like faint yellowish, on my phone its perfectly white.
So yeah there are panels that are probably poorly calibrated.
Thank you hardcore, i've never had problem with both version (normal and color) of any version of yours. So, normal is better i think
Have you thought about changing text color in CWM from green to blue or green like Amon-Ra recovery?

would be nice, let me explain:
purple: samsung (blue?)
green: zstupy
blue: hardcore (purple?)
red: supercurio
easy to distinguisch en you can tell by the collor what kernel you have

I'm perfectly fine with color versions developed so far...will I notice further improvements using neutral color version from this thread?

Haha... no I don't plan on changing it, and theoretically green is the best because Pentile-matrix AMOLED displays (like the one in the SGS) have the full resolution for green pixels, and less resolution for red and blue pixels.

Understood
Important is that it works always
I would try cold version, is it possible to have it at 256Hz?
Thank you hardcore
I also would be really appreciate if you could change the CWM color.
Maybe it`s not the best resolution on Pentile-Matrix-Displays but something special at all
I compared my SGS white level to my PC monitor (Eizo FlexScan S2431W), and I saw that it was a bit cold (blue).
Tried your warm version to correct it, but it seems too much for me.
To specify:
On low and medium screen brightness the screen is now too warm.
On full brightness, it seems OK.
Which makes me think that this matter is more complex than just adjusting one slider or setting or whatever, since the color temperature seems to change a lot with brightness.
On second thought I am not sure if my observations are 100% correct... maybe I'm just too used to a cold temperature...

Thanks for your feedback. So u find the warm too warm, versus your monitor.
Although it's a good basis for comparison, color balance is very tricky because it depends on the ambient light - if you are out in the sun, your display will seem more yellow (because sunlight is very blue). If you are indoors using warm lighting, your display will seem more blue.
The MDNIE software allows a certain level of control - at this point I can control the red/blue color balance which affects all brightness levels. This is similar to Samsung's own presets.
At this point I don't think I want to venture into trying to correct colors at different brightness levels - the source code also doesn't seem to offer that.
Mine is redish, installed your "blue" and it is just darker red...
Tonite I will install the new "no process" version, at least it uses less battery...
@hardcore,
Mention [POLL] on the Title.
Ooops, there is no Odin version this time...
Thank you for your good work!
However i prefer the noc kernel, colors are more natural, but it's my own point of view.
neutral here too
Please note that neutral and no color management versions are not the same.
Noc version has actually colder colors, from what I can see.

I voted for NOC, are you going to do an Odin version ?
Thanks,
The 'warm' version is PERFECT for my first generation UK i9000. Many thanks, been waiting on a colour fix for ages now!
Tony
For me the standard works best. The cool is too cold, and the warm makes the screen yellow. I find this strange because I was using the cool versions up until now. Is the color correction dial turned up a bit too much?

When defining the Fill Mode of a Gradient progress bar, the FG color and Additional Color options seem to define beginning and end gradient colors. How would you get a 3rd color if you wanted to create an effect similar to UCCW "Hollow with gradient" style for a battery gauge?
Anybody?
Anyidea?
Crickets Crickets...... does anybody have any idea on this OP?
Why not create two seperate progressbars (1st from 0-50, 2nd from 51-100, second progressbar beginning with the colour the first one ends with)?

Very nice zephyr1100, I think that is what I was after.... never thought about doing it in 2 parts. Will take a look at what you zipped up. Thanks again.
Here's a screen of it in a circle.
Very nice @Sandman.
I would settle for gradients to work properly for two colors. So much more we could do if they worked.

?????
The easiest way is to make multiples of the same thing with different gradients, or make images in photoshop touch for phone, then pull into ZW.

Gradient IS broken, at least the way it renders on my phone. The color never actually converges to the second color. If you have a pure black object and set the gradient color to pure white it never actually gets to pure white. Same when setting to transparent...it never actually becomes transparent at the edge of the gradient field.
The problem with using Gimp (not going to spend $100 to make widgets, and have no other use for Photoshop) is its kind of a pain to go back and forth. If gradients worked it would cover a ton of my use cases.
I agree. But I was talking about the 4.99 app from the app store.
Check out "Photoshop Touch for phone"

It works wonders. ..
hi guys
coming from nexus 4.. really impressed by super clear and sharp display of G3.. but i think the colors
are some how whashed out.. just like nexus 4 .. (some say natural color) i don't like super saturated amoled
displays.. but this is over naturaled for me i want (just like many of you) more colorful display..
on nexus 4 devs added color profile into kernels.. which was really cool.. i think it's possible to get this here
plz someone do us a favor pic this project up i tried changing contrast in accessibility section.. but it's
not so useful.. plz look at this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWOYvFI8uOM
*edit,
nevermind
Guys I'm talking to some devs hoping someone add faux gamma settings.. Plz participate in poll and show dear devs you want this...
Actually you can change the color profile in accessibility.
As I sai'd, tried that before.. but it's not what I mean.. this only change contrast an hue (making crazy colors)
and results are not pleasing.. Colors look dark.. if u watch that video u can see how cool and effective is gamma settings..
any1?
plz help.. i don't think it'll be hard for great devs we have
This is my number one wish for the phone at the moment. Love the device overall--best I've had--but I still notice the washed-out color profile.
Anyone know of any apps/Xposed modules/ROMs that include some kind of support for increasing the color saturation?
+1
talked to some devs.. all of them told me it's hard to add fauxdisplay support
i hope one day a talented dev make it possible..
+1 !!!!
My only gripe with this phone, actualy 2, washed out colors and low contrast.
up +1

If you are rooted, you shall use Trickstermod and change the screen values as given below:
Red: 240, Green: 240 and Blue: 250
This setting helps to remove the yellow color tinge and improve white color.
To improve the contrast you shall use accessibility>color adjustment
Is there a way to get the settings menu, quick settings, notification panel pure black and not grey? Seems whichever wallpaper I set (even solid black) it's not adhering to it...
Might have to wait until substratum can be used if not!
The irony of their colour scheme was not lost on me. I think they did this for a bit of retro feel so it looks like an LCD panel.
Come on Google, I know your designers are probably just 12 years old, but surely there are still some older people there that remember the light bleed issues of LCD displays of old, and that OLED was sold on being able to produce real blacks.
I just want pure black
Oh well, root will soon be amongst us I'm sure
I'm trying to find a wallpaper that is as black as possible, so the system themes it accordingly. But also one that doesn't have a tint to everything... Any recommendations? I just want notification panel etc to be black if possible but also for buttons ect to be a plain colour without a warm'ish tint to them...especially text, like I want that to be white whereas seems the system is adding a tint?
Hello all,
(This doesn't seem to be related to the Xenforo update so I'm posting it here)
Not sure why no one was talking about this, but the color scheme changed from orange and dark orange to red and blue, and blue throughout the website. All of the themes (light, dark, classic, community) has changed colors.
IMO, the new color scheme makes XDA not so special anymore, since it is one of the few big forums that are using orange as the main color (besides from Ubuntu forums). And the blue color feels "off" and alien to me, while orange feels more at home.
Is there a way to revert the change with a theme or such? And what are your opinions on the new color scheme?
(By the way, the new XDA logo has red on the left and blue on the right, which makes them look misaligned on most screens. The red looks like it's higher than the blue one.)

How can we make the XDA forums better?
I figured since we turned this forum into a Questions forum with up and down voting for each answer, I'd ask: How can we make the XDA forums better? No answer is too outlandish...be creative. We're listening! Maybe you think we have too many...
