How to backup my Desire Rom

I want to backup my Hong Kong chinese Rom first ,
before try to root the Desire,
what is the best and safe way to backup my original rom fist ?
otherwise it will out of warranty.

I would still be interested how to backup the ROM just in case something happens. I'm unsure how can i get the version of ROM, but it's a central European ROM (it has English, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Slovenian,... language).

So what version is on your Desire at present?
Go to Settings>About phone>Software information>Software version
Once you know, see if you can find it here:

I do not want to open another thread because this also interest me. I can't find my stock rom on the the link posted above.
This is my version :
baseband version : 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
kernel version : 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c [email protected]#1
build number : 2.29.404.2 CL263770
It is rooted with unrevoked. Can I somehow backup my stock rom? I did nandroid backup and titanium but that is another story. I want to backup my stock rom because of warranty.

Hi,
it seems to be a problem of more countries. Because of Erasmus I bought my desire in the Czech republic so my warranty is linked with the rom 2.12.110.4. I've had my desire repaired and had very similar problems but my phone was repaired under warranty with x.xx.112.x and nobody asked why I had the different rom. So I think it's necessary to return back brand (eg. TMO) but any version.
add: but I still looking for a way to backup my stock rom for warranty repairs...

I'd say use RUU_Bravo_Froyo_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.13.707.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed.exe - it looks like 2.13.707.2 was a minor update to this, so it's as close as you'll get.

That is the same, as he will just receive the update OTA after the install..
And to help everyone.. Noone cares about your rom version for warranty purposes. HTC will take any stock rom EOS

i thought rom manager from market should do the trick.

Anyone has Desire official 2.1 HK RUU ROM? I want to unroot my Desire with it and then go for OTA 2.2.
The one downloaded previously is not an official 2.1 HK RUU, it is a test rom, OTA says there is no update. But you know Hong Kong has 2.2 OTA today!
If the Desire is rooted, it will restart and go to Recovery and makes the upgrade of OTA stopped even after downloaded via OTA.
Or is there HK official 2.2 RUU?
Please help!

but what do u mean hk 2.2. OTA rom? i could download the 2.2 OTA rom while my Desire was rooted at hk 2.1, but no way to flash it after downloaded. have you ever tried it before you give comment?

Can WWW Asia 1.19 be OTA upgrade to HK official 2.2? can't, right?

Using WWE Asia 1.19 may not upgrade the OTA 2.2 as I found there is checking of some telecomm provider package before installing OTA 2.2. So, there is no way to install OTA 2.2 now.

Is there any way to skip the checking steps of the OTA 2.2 zip ROM file?

The recovery program has an option of "Toggle Verification", is to bypass the signature checking, then flash 2.2 OTA zip. I tried once, it could upgrade to 2.2 but the root is still there.
I want to find the original official Recovery file, then I can push it to the device manually.

I did toogle verification to "Disable". But, another problem is occurred. I can't upgrade to 2.2 through the installing zip from sd card or apply update.zip in the recovery program.
The error assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko")

I am sure NOT. I have tried that rom. it is not an official Hong Kong RUU. The official Hong Kong RUU is 1.19.832.

I have tried that, it is not an Hong Kong official 2.1 RUU. The Hong Kong official 2.1 is 1.19.832.

so the problem still ?
I just rooted my desire and I found out that there is no way to unroot my desire ?

yes, you need to find a HK RUU rom to flash it in order to unroot your phone. I have got 2.2 HK RUU but no 2.1 HK RUU, how about you?

Since then I flashed it with a stock 2.2, now I'm looking to root etc so would like to have a RUU just in case.

Why would you need the originals? Simple make a backup of the stock you're running now and you'll be fine. As soon as you root you'll loose warrenty anyway.
I'm running the Reflex Rom with the modified hboot - runs great!

See your other post in ROM Development - I've posted it in there (2.29.405.5 is newer than yours so is needed instead of 2.29.405.2)
For reference, you don't have an o2 Desire but an unbranded Desire - if it was an o2 unit the software version would be x.xx.207.x
EDIT: This is a question and, as such, should be in the Q&A section

not having an o2 (or any) branded phone is normally a good thing in my opinion

It's actually DEbranded - if it was unbranded you wouldn't need a gold card to flash an unbranded RUU

[Q] Query on Preinstalled Stock ROM

Hi I am planning to flash a custom ROM on my HTC desire A8181.
One of the prerequisites i found is that i keep a copy of my Stock ROM ready.
I couldnt find the specific froyo RUU for my Bravo -HTC Desire on shipped-roms(dot)com website neither on XDA.
My Build number is 2.13.720.2 and Baseband Version 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 . Is it necessary that i should use the exact same custom ROM or can i use one that is with the same baseband version.
Sorry if i dint make sense but i am jus a beginner and really energised to try out the latest ROM.
Pls help.

so one can install the latest Stock RUU for his/her device provided it is one that belongs to a device from the same region.

[Q] porblem unrooting my desire

I have a hardware issue with my htc desire and i need to send it back for warranty. I tried to follow the normal procedure to flash an offical rom but i get
an error 132 wrong signature.
I think its logic because i have leedroid_hd_v3.3.1_gb-r3
and its build number is 2.50.405.2 and the most recent ruu that i found is

otherwise the last european generic ruu is the 2.29.405.5

btw why the hell u was try to run a verizon ruu? that for verizon brand phones
