I'll preface my question by saying I searched both Google and the forums here for an answer to this question but didn't have any luck. I apologize if I missed this being asked someplace else.
Both my wife and I have a problem where our EVOs will stay connected to the wireless network but after the phone been in sleep mode for awhile, it will turn off. The only way to get it to reconnect again is to turn wifi off and back on or do go into Settings->Wireless & networks and click on Wireless Settings. It will had already detected my wireless network and start auto-connecting.
Now, in that same menu option I have hit Menu->Advanced Settings and turned the sleep policy to Never. It doesn't seem to work though. After the phone has been in sleep mode for a bit, when I turn wake up my phone, wireless isn't connect.
Anyone seen this problem? It's annoying because I don't leave 3G on, so my phone gets no email/weather notifications when I'm sleeping.
Identical issue... I did some googling and found this might not just be a problem with evo.. someone on the nexus one had the same problem.
I thought I'd bump this post in hopes that someone might be able to give some additional insight. It's starting to get really annoying.

Hey people!
I tried searching the forums for this issue but couldn't find anything, so if this is already discussed please forgive me and redirect me.
Anyway, when I am using wifi the 3g connection disappears (which I've set it to) but sometimes, especially after a long while, when I turn the wifi off the 3G connection won't reappear. I tried turning 3G off and on again without success. The only thing that helps is a soft reset of the phone, which is really annoying.
Has anyone else had a similar problem like this?
I did see the other thread about the 3G connection stopping and hanging, but since they at least still had the 3G connection icon in the top bar I consider this to be a totally different issue.
Anyone knows what might cause this?
Thanks!
If you carefully search, this has been discussed many times.
Basically, HTC Desire is not that good on waking up the 3G connection after turned off.
When you use WiFi, the 3G will not be turned off, but it will not be used.
Yes, it happens to me several times ... usually I just "wait" ... 1 or 2 minutes.
Other user said by turning ON then OFF flight mode will help.
Yeah ... this issue is bad
Cheers man. Waiting won't help me since I've waited up to an hour just to see what happens. But I'll try the flight mode trick
I drive to work each morning through a tunnel that goes under a river and this usually causes my phone to lose connection. The problem is it doesn't seem to try and reconnect at all, until I toggle airplane mode. This is quite frustrating and I can see this being a major issue if I'm ever using my phone for navigation and lose signal.
Does anyone have any idea why the phone wouldn't be reconnecting on it's own? This never happened once with my nexus one.
Guys, need some help here.
I have WiFi at home, and when I'm home, I'm ALWAYS on WiFi. My mobile data is turned OFF.
Now, each time the phone is locked and when I unlock, the mobile data ALSO AUTOMATICALLY turns ON!
I then have to turn it off, and then it remains OFF. But then again, the same thing happens when the device is unlocked.
I tried talking to HTC over the phone, and they told me to do a restart, which I did, but no luck. I really don't want to do a factory default setting. I want to keep that as my last option.
Any idea what seems to be the issue here? It seems to me that it has something to do with the screen ON and OFF time.
PLEASE HELP!

Click to collapse
Go To Settings => More => Usage. Turn OFF the Mobile Network (first) option.
Think this should do.
Cheers
I don't know what You mean by data on, do you have working mobile data and wi-fi simultaneously?
You may want to check this: Settings->Wi-Fi->Advanced-> Keep Wi-Fi active when sleep and set it to active.
@veerm, p3v4x, thanks. I figured out the problem. I had installed this app called, Battery Defender, and that was what was causing this to happen. Uninstalled it, and am happy again
Hi,
I've had my Galaxy Nexus for over 2 years now, and never had any major problems with it. However, over the past month I've been having a problem where my network connection stops working. I can't call, text or go online. I also can't receive calls or texts. When this happens, the connectivity icon still has 4 bars (or 3 or whatever).
In the past if I had network problems, I would put it in airplane mode and then turn it off, and this would reset the connection and fix it. Now, when I try to put it in airplane mode, nothing happens. The connectivity icon disappears, but the airplane icon does not appear. Then there's nothing I can do except reboot the phone. I can't even turn airplane mode off because the option is greyed out.
At first I thought I could fix the problem by resetting the phone to factory settings. That didn't work. So 2 weeks ago I installed Cyanogenmod 11, and the problem persists.
Yesterday I installed an app called "Restart Connection", but it hasn't happened since yesterday so I'm not sure if this will work or not. The problem is not regular. It can happen twice in a day, or it can not happen for 3-4 days in a row.
I'm not sure where to go from here. I've tried Googling but can't really find anything quite like this. It wouldn't be so bad if I knew when it happened, but if I don't happen to be using my phone, it can happen and then no one can call or text me until I realize that the problem is happening, so I can be without a connection for hours at a time before noticing.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing this and if there is a fix?
Thanks!
Hello! So this issue started about 2 weeks ago for me. Whenever I turn my wifi off, the phone will turn the wifi back on for 0.5-1.0 seconds then it will turn it back off. This happens nonstop. The issue persisted even when the phone was in safe mode and still continues even after 3 full factory data resets and wiping the cache partition 3 times as well. I did this through recovery mode. Nothing changed. When this is happening, it seems to drain my battery significantly. The only fix I have found for it has been to leave my wifi on all the time, even when I am not connected to or near a wifi hotspot. The issue also does not happen when the phone is in airplane mode. Also, I did not receive any software updates around the time this issue started happening. I have tried Googling and contacting Samsung and could not come up with a fix.
Is anyone else having or had this issue? If so, did you find any fix? Thanks!
If this thread needs to be moved to the help/troubleshooting section, please tell me how to do that, or do that yourself if you would like mods. This is my first time starting a thread so I am sorry if I put it in the wrong place.
Possible Fix
My Note 7 and S7 Edge were doing the same. I fixed it by disabling "Wifi scanning even while Wifi is turned off" in location settings.
