When sending a text message for example you see the same person listed multiple times. once for his mobile number, email etc.
Anyway to have 1 contact that you select then presented with a list of all his numbers/emails?
Hope this makes sense.

some of my contacs have multiple mobile numbers, i.e. work, private, car mobile.....so, how can i manage them since wm6 doesn't allow me more than one mobile number for every contact. i know thta i can use inesoft address book, but using this software, once i have choosen my contact,i cannot directly send an sms to the contact, or at least i haven't understood how to.
have you got any suggestion for me.....i'm really bored with this issue, my nokia n70, symbian 3rd edition can handle multiple numbers for avery contact.....
maybe there's no answer to my question?
you cant
heck you cant even do that in Microsoft Outlook
You'll have to make multiple contacts for a single person
John 1
John 2
for each mobile number
Anyway, you'd have to manually select which mobile number to send a SMS to That'd be faster to have multiple contacts.
Otherwise, if it's just for voice call, then just put anything (house, work, etc), doesnt matter.
Try out pocket informant 8, in the contact list it will show multiple chooses, maybe it will fit your need, they have trial version so you can take it for a test spin for free .
It will take some time to get use to but the one handed operation is great to look up contacts and click to dial, blows the contact list in WM5/6 out of the water.
I have used several versions of this, very stable and works great and it will sync with outlook.

Hmmm you cant save multiple entries for the same name in SIM no matter what phone you use.
In wm all you do is create a new contact, and when you do that create the contact as outlook contact...that way you can add multiple number, email, address, etc etc...
I know how you feel; it's a pain to have several mobile numbers for one contact when you want to SMS (voice dialling is fine)
Here is how it can work while maintaining only one contact in Outlook:
- Enter additional mobile numbers in Outlook under pager, car, other (or whatever you fancy)
- When you want to create a new SMS, do NOT start typing the name directly to get auto completion, click the To: field instead (or go through Menu -> Add Recipient)
- This brings up your contact list, and you can now choose your contact and select any of his/hers numbers to send the SMS to..
Hope this helps
I'm not sure what you're aiming for exactly. WM6 has a lot of options for multiple mobile numbers, and AFAIK, Symbian S60 v3 has fewer options, at least on my N73 ME it does.
you can do this by adding the number under another option e.g. home, create new text then select contact through the contacts option rather than typing their name in the to box, you'll get the option then to choose either phone number or email address.
never tried before, i'll test it, thx for your suggestion
it is a real silly problem, in PC outlook you can add private fields, but you will not be able to synchronize it with your ppc. hope we can find a good real solution for this.
Hi
Im on winmo 6.1 and i was wondering if we can set contact groups.
Example when i send mass text i have to constantly build the list, and i know on the iphone it keeps the list so you can easily next time just type the text message instead of rebuilding the contact group
any ideas??
If i had to guess. Make a new contact just for SMS and MMS sending.
Add the phone numbers or contacts in that contact seperating the numbers with a ; and a space.
This is something that used to be in Windows Mobile 2003, but was removed around WM5. Categories, filters, etc. seem to be there, but they don't work for much, if anything. I have yet to find a way to edit categories, make new ones, or assign them to contacts on the phone under WM6.1.
A few posts were made in other forums on here about pocketPC apps that do the job. I don't know of one for a smartphone. It's all a jumble in my memory, but one of those apps that lets you assign different ringtones to individual contacts and groups of contacts has the feature for SMS as well, I think. Try a search and see what happens.
I have searched far and wide as well
what Mikey says is pretty much gospel. So far, there is no other way to do this other than create a HUGE contact with all of the numbers you want added to it. Then, you just sms that contact you created. No other ways are possible, YET. Mikey RULES!

Yes, Mikey has a decent kludge to get around WM's limitations. The weird question is why the limitation was added in WM5? For all the plusses, it sucks that a phone of this calibre can't do something a $15 Nokia can.
i tried making a contact with "number; number" format and it didn't work. I get this error
Cannot send to e-mail recipients from the Text Message account.
any ideas how this can be possible?
are you placing email address' or phone numbers in the "SMS contacts?
phone numbers
all im doing is making a new contact
and in the phone number field just typying in phone numbers ie. 1234567899; 1234567899; 1234567899
when i select it to send a message to it shows NameofContact<12345667899; 1234567899; 1234567899>
then i get an error when i try to send

As a text message or Email?
....as a text
any ideas?
guess its impossible
My company has an alerting SMS system. Usually you receive a reminder. The special thing in the SMS that instead of the number in the "Form" field it shows the text "alert".
When I receive this SMS it shows that I received it one of my friends from facebook contacts :s His profile also not contains number under the phone field just characters.
How this huge bug could pass the test?!
I reported this issue to HTC support, but of course no response.
This happens with me when receiving texts from t-mobile, it always says that they are from a random facebook friend. The only way to stop it, is to stop the phone syncing facebook contacts.
I too am having the same problem.
It seems very odd that it should pick up a random facebook contact.
I don't sync my facebook contacts to the Desire, but do remain logged into facebook and it still picks up the random contact despite the mobile numbers used etc all being different!
A fix would be great!
I had this bug, I had the contact delete their phone details seeing as they only entered garbage. Don't hold your breath on it ever getting fixed.
Right, I'm at my whit's end.
I've added contacts to my new Desire, and managed to link them with their respective FaceBook profiles. The thing is, i now want to send a group text message, and the primary message method is via e-mail. I don't want to send an e-mail, i want to text their phone number. I can't seem to find anything which will change it so that an SMS is primary and e-mail is secondary.
Any ideas on that one? I know i can send a single message, but that isnt what i want to do, i want to highlight any contact i wish and have it automatically send an SMS, and not an e-mail.
Also, when sending a message, is there any way to filter the contacts down to just those with phone numbers OR e-mail instead of having a massive amalgamated list of Facebook, Twitter, Google and Phone contacts?
Any help will be hugely appreciated!
hi did you get anywhere with this - esp your last point - must be something obvious ?!
Nope, got nowhere. I can't find any option or anything anywhere to do this. Ive just decided to try and live with it.
If I understood well..when you type in a new message and click in recepients, then the list with your contacts pops up. But, in mine at least, every contact that has a phone number and an email, has 2 records, one with the mail and one the phone number, only to let you choose what you want. Although in contacts list, have one all together.
it shows me:
nikos <[email protected]>
nikos <+000>
etc...
I have the same system as well. The issue i'm raising is when you have say, 350 Facebook contacts and 200 Gmail contacts, and you want to send a message, you have to scroll through every contact to get to the one you want.
I want to know if there's a way to filter the contacts to say "Mobile Numbers Only" or "Email Only" when you're trying to select a (many) recepient(s) for a message.

Please tell me someone else has had this.
If I compose a text message, then click on the recipient bar, and select a group, all of whom have telephone numbers, I send the text and the delivery report tells me their email boxes recieved it. I was like WTF?!
However, if I go to People, then groups, select the group, select group action, select "Send group message", then it will send as a text (SMS) message.
Obviously one way is quicker and one way is longer.
Anyone else had this?
