[Q] Installing App2SD - Other option (no rooting but changing manifest file) - Desire General

Hi guys,
For 3 hours I have been trying to modify the manifest files of several games and tools so that I could activate the "Move to SD" button in Froyo. On the android website I found that you had to put <android:installLocation="auto"> in the manifest file.
What I first did was decompiling the originalen apk file (with APKTool 1.3.1), modified the manifest file and then recompiled the whole file again. When I tried to install the app on my phone I got and error: "App not installed".
Can anyone help me with my problem?
(I know that there is a topic about the App2SD thing but this involves rooting the phone.)

[Q] Noobish question on theming apks

Hi all,
I tried to theme an apk (ie. SwitchPro), after some search I got ApkTool and Android-sign (osx droplet).
So to test if it worked I decompressed it using ApkTool and recompressed, then Signed.
During apk install it just says "App not installed".
What's wrong ?
Thanks
The problem i had was that the resulting .apk seemed a lot smaller than it should after recompileing with apktool. If you are just editing images i suggest extracting the images form the .apk. Then you edit as you like. Then open the original apk with WinRAR (or whatever you use) and simply add your edited images to the .apk file. Then install and it should work.

[Q] Modify installed application data

I am no far a experienced person in terms of android. Just got my phone a few days ago.
I found the fix to make Spare Parts work on some new Beta Gingerbread ROMs ( it crashes ) but I cannot figure out how to find where it is installed or where I can edit the files.
My phone is rooted, did search after the filename on internal memory and SD Card, nothing found.
I have to actually edit the xml file from the application.
Where can I do that? Because it is only a line which has to be edited ?
If not possible, then please tell me how can I create a .apk file after editing it on my PC.
Thanks alot

Designing My ROM Problem HELP?!?!?

Hey guys! I am having some problems with my SpaceROM update! I am currently trying to get the Titanium.apk on there (I know where to put it). This is what I did.
Extracted my ROM
Went into system
Then went into apps
I copied and pasted the app in there
I archived the ROM back into a zip file
I tried to open it in Android Kitchen (Do to some extra tweaks)
But it said "No system folder found"
So then I googled it and it said you need to resign the ROM after you tweak it
So I download and use a ROM signer (I'm not sure if it worked or not)
Then I tried to open the ROM in Android Kitchen again
And it gave me that same message!
What I am wanting to do is change apps and possible the bootanimation.zip
Any help is greatly appreciated

This can happen if you have your activity declared twice in your AndroidManifest.xml file. And by twice, I mean one: as a normal activity and two: as the launcher.
Make sure every activity in the manifest file is declared only once.
1. try another explorer to install it, eg Astro or Root Explorer.
2. If method 1 doesn't help, delete file .android_secure/smdl2tmpl.asec from SD Card. If the folder .android_secure is empty on your file manager, delete it from PC
I hope it will help you

samsung apps cant install as common apk files. its require touchwiz framework.
try this instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773983
It worked perfectly for me. Some apps downloaded by the application fail to install, but not all. I managed to install Samsung Apps moving both files to system/app via Root Explorer. After I changed the permissions to RW-R-R.
I would like to add my Samsung account on the phone, but I need the apk files. Do you know where can I find?
