Look...I'm not rich, I'm a college student and I get payed part time. I need to go cheap and for that we look to ebay. Two things i need are batteries, and a usb car charger (a charger that can do all usb stuff).
Are these safe buys?
1000mAh Usb Car Charger
2 x 1600mAh batteries plus charger
I am aware those Touch Pro 2 batteries, but if they work then why should i care? Also is 1000mAh enough to charge the evo if i were saying playing music on mp3 or pandora? If not, can anyone recommend a good USB charger? I want to be able to charge my zune, psp and etc.
Should be fine with those. Just beware about the battery. Not sure if those batteries are legit HTC ones, because the fake HTC batteries tend not to perform as the say.
Here is a site that tested multiple tp2/n1/evo batteries.
http://www.batteryboss.org/
Thank you for your reply, but when i go click the website my browser says "unable to connect". Any reason why?
*update works*, I don't see the batteries I'm buying on the list...
lol, if you look at the picture of the batteries, they say 1500mAh on them, but the seller has blurred it out a bit.. AFAIK HTC doesnt make a 1600mAh TP2 battery. I have some fake black TP2 HTC batteries that I got from eBay that say 1500mAh on them but have a part number for the 1100mAh batteries! They last about as long as an 1100 would too.... If you want a real OEM 1500 HTC battery thats cheap, this is the listing you want: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...=230439043798&ff4=263602_263622#ht_1817wt_908
Also 1a is the most power an EVO will draw when charging, so that charger should be fine. Assuming it really is 1a and has the center pins grounded. I've ordered 3 1a chargers from eBay and 2 of them didn't have the center pins grounded-- so the EVO thinks its plugged into a computers USB port and only pulls .5a. I had to crack em up open and solder the center pins, something I wouldn't recommend most people trying. Here is a 2a charger that I can personally verify will charge your EVO at max speed: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-Car-Charger...le-Nexus-One-/170523433174?pt=PDA_Accessories
I bought 4 of those 1500mah batteries & I've only received 2 of them thus far. One of them is on par with my EVO stock battery, the other . . . not so much.
There is an ebay seller....
named tuttoit selling 2 1500 batteries and a charger for 9.96 delivered. They have sold over 6700 of them. Tons of Evo owners in the feedback which is 99%.
I got mine today and I'm totally satisfied. Great deal! Performance on par with Stock on my phone.
i still have my extra oem hero battery so i havent needed to get a backup but i've seen them for as low as $25 and i went with the palm oem car charger at it is a 1000 mAh charger and everything else i found was only 500 mAh, i've had bad experience with $5 chargers, they always break 6-12 months later while oem ones work 5 years later, still using my htc chargers when i had my original kaiser.

Yes I agree! I bought from him as well, great batteries and the charger works great as well! a steal at 10 dollars shipped, batteried aren't AS good as the stock, but NEARLY. Here is a link, just click on his name and then his other products, should have multiple available:

The batteries you posted look a bit shady, at least with the guy i linked you, you have dozens of people who will account to you that they are good batteries. As for the car lighter charger, i would say go for it, but it doesn't come with a cord...so...yeah... Looks more legit than the other guy.

hi everyone...
just wanna know is there any desktop charger for o2 xda exec?
If you have a look at the O2 micro site, they sell a decent desktop charger, probably quite expensive though, or of course, have a hunt on eBay.... personally I'd stick with O2.
Link to O2 micro site.... http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecAcc.html

Also, might interest you, I just ordered a simple battery charger off a guy on eBay, only for the battery so if you got spares you can charge them separately. The guy's called lifestyle0806, has been selling for over 2 years and has 96.6% positive. I was recommended him by a guy on this site. Should receive the item today, will let you know if it's any good if you're interested.

I am using this charger from lifestyle for the last 2 months. It is definately worth the money. Even the battery which comes with it is of good quality and does not have any of the problems some spare batteries seem to have.

I couldn't believe how cheap it was... I paid $18 for the battery AND charger with postage included!!! That's just crazy! Well worth it, I would say to anyone who travels a lot and has a spare few batteries they need charged up.

Is it an external charger like this one (which you have to plugin to normal mini-USB charger or computer USB port to get the power)?
Maybe I got a bad unit because it just won't charge the battery - battery is ok though =) However, on the back it reads "INPUT 5V = 2A", but normal USB chargers only output 5V and 1A... So a working unit should be fine with 1A?
I got pretty much the same unit with extended battery from the other guy on ebay.. digispeak ...
Battery seems to be of the decent quality, still testing how long it will last after few charging cycles..
However, I'm not quite as happy with desktop charger. It seems to cut off charging when battery reaches about 90%. Any clues and experiences?
I am not a big fan of extra batteries. The idea of doing a battery pull and replace another is not pleasing.
I got a rechargeable charger at Best Buy, an Energizer charger for $19.99. Provides 6 hours of talk time. They also have a $39.99 charger for 12 hours of talk time.
I find this to be a great alternative for extra batteries.

Those are certainly good options which don't require you to reboot or buy a charger to charge your batteries. Luckily the Evo boots much quicker than the Pre.

I picked up a 5,000 mAh dual USB charger at Costco for $15. I don't know why it was so cheap (it will completely charge my phone ~3 times). It was a few months ago so YMMV.
any idea who makes this? I have a 2000 mAh one, but would like a bigger one.

I'm sure you can find one somewhere. Just not the Trent Imax brand most likely. You can get energizer ones at BB.
i know i went to best buy and looked at the energizer 2000 maH one for 39.99 but for anyone that has it how much does it recharge your battery? because when i had my G1 the porrtable charger only filled it up about 30%(im talking about the portable charger sold at t-mobile)
I bought the IMP880 portable charger, 8900 mAh. I like it, although I haven't really used it much yet. But it should in theory be able to charge my phone about 5 times. It's not very big, or to heavy (to me) but it does have some heft. I wear cargo pants, so I just keep it in a pocket with me where ever I go.

It would charge it a little over 1 time. How come you don't buy things online? Generally you pay about 40% extra at stores.

does the IMP880 come with a microUSB adapter as part of the original package or is that something that has to be bought separately off New Trent's website?

Aw crap, I wrote up a reply to this earlier today on my phone, and then before I submitted it I did something, and my internet task got killed forgot about it. Yes it does come with a microUSB adapter (as well as a miniUSB and a USB splitter, and some proprietary thingy). There are 2 outputs (USB and D/C out) and one input (D/C in for charging). There's one hard button, for power or to check the power level (have to hold down on the power buttron for 4 seconds to turn it on/off), and 4 tiered power LEDs for power level.
There's a USB cable that comes with the charger is a special one that the other end is a female plug and the micro, mini, and proprietary adapter things are male, and so are interchangeable with the cord that comes with the charger, although the data cable that comes with the phone will work, and mine is actually longer than the cable that came with the phone (if that matters)

Sadly added this to my Amazon cart last week when it was $33. It went up to $43 in a couple days and I unfortunately pulled the trigger at the higher price. Looking forward to getting this in the mail today. I'll monitor the price over the next couple of weeks so I could hopefully request a credit from Amazon.
This is what i use http://store.goal0.com/index.php?p=product&id=12 , may be a little overkill but it gets the job done, I can charge my phone almost 50 times from empty to full... its also great for laptops, and small microwaves(j/k) kinda pricey but well worth it if you find yourself in the middle at the bottom of the grand canyon a lot, or the middle of the Atlantic ocean....

I have one of the energizer ones, It never does a "Full" charge to the phone, it tops it off to about 60-70% and then when the phone dies some more, it will have a little more juice to give the phone. Not exactly as advertised, but I keep it in the car for an emergency battery so it works great for that, and for note I dont have the 19.99 energizer one I have the bigger more expensive one. Also, they are put together worse then most remotes, I split mine within a week from just dropping it into the door pocket of the car.

I don't know if it has been discontinued or what - it's not easy to find online. $46.99 is also much more than what I spent.

I have this: http://www.buy.com/prod/motorola-p7...k/q/listingid/76445460/loc/111/203472669.html
It doesn't hold that much power, but it's cheap and convenient. Enough for one charge, or somewhere close to it. I also have a little mini to micro USB adapter, as the charger itself has a mini port.
What is the best device to order for EVO owners who want to charge their EVO while they are not at home and don't have access to a battery (remote or on the go charger)? I've heard of boxes that have a battery in them that you charge at home and then while on the go, if your EVO needs it, you can plug your EVO into it and get a few full charges. I would like to have one of these. What is the best gadget to get that may be preferred by the community that will give me the most juice for the money in the shortest amount of time while remaining safe and comparable with the EVO? I also own a Motorola H17 bluetooth headset. It uses the same connecter type for charging. So, it would be a nice little bonus if such a charger would also charge this headset. Thanks for any responses.
I have an 8000 mAh one by energizer that I got off WOOT for like $50. It will charge a dead evo to full in about an hour. And will charge it 5 times on a charge.
It is smaller than the evo and thicker.

Swyped on my EVO
To anyone who replies, can you please provide a model number so that I and anyone who may be reading can use the information? It would be very helpful. I mean especially when you say you got it from woot which sells a single product a day at a good price and today's woot has nothing to do with cell phones.
So what's the best charger for the EVO when you're not near a power source including it's brand and model number?
Thanks.
Duracell has a AA nimh charger that also has a usb charge port on it. I bring that along in my car glove box and on pane trips. The double AA batteries can also be taken out and used in my camera in a pinch.
Where did you get Swype for your eve? Does the eve have to be rooted for aswype? Thanks Jerry
Just purchased the 8000mAh Energizer battery pack on Buy.com for $49.99
With free shipping. Also comes with an iPad tip, if you need it. The cool thing that I didn't know, is that it'll also charge my netbook. I have an Acer Aspire One D150. I seldom run the battery out since it's a 6-cell. But now I can just charge the Energizer up and take it in place of the PSU for my netbook and use it for my Evo, too.
I've been looking into getting this, would help me on the long bike rides...

Hi Forum! I've two originals batteries for my GS2. I'd like to buy an external charger, but the original samsung is too expensive. I'd like to know the requirements for a battery charger, in order to buy a charger not dangerous for batteries: the cheaps chargers that is possible to buy from internet at 5 $, are dangerous ? There original charger have same protection circuit of charge ?
thx a lot
I'd stay away from those entry-level chargers if I was you.. Your GS2 is expensive enough to deserve better.
Personally, I find that the original Samsung charger is a bit weak (800mA/H max if I remember right. It's by my bedside and I'm too lazy to climb upstairs and check it ^^) and takes forever to recharge a battery to 100%.
So pretty soon after I switched from my HTC Desire S to the SGS2 (following an "eMMC brick" that left the HTC running, but in dire condition -it's slower than an asthmatic snail now), I "recycled" the original HTC charger plus the two more I had just bought for it (1 wallsocket and 1 special for cars with the adapter. Ironically, they were in the mail being delivered when the HTC got bricked).
I find them way better because 1) they're cheaper but seem to have the same kind of safety electronics packaged inside, since the amperage of the two devices is relatively close
and 2) they pump out 1000mA/h and they don't seem to bother the SGS2 too much, which charges a lot faster now and without any noticeable side-effects on the batteries (and I got 4 batteries, ranging from the stock 1650mA/H to 2000, so me knows what I'm talking 'bout, believe you me.. ^^).
I've heard that you can go even higher than that in the amperage of the charger, provided that it's specifically designed for smartphone use, but I don't feel like investing money in this just now, I'll need other batteries before I need another charger I guess

So I'm wanting to get the Anker replacement for my SG2 and was interested in getting the pack of two with the charger.
However, I see that its presently unavailable at Amazon.co.uk:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-1900m...B-F1A2GBU/dp/B0058SJ5Q4/ref=/ref=cm_cd_f_pb_t
From what I understand Laptopmate is the only seller of Anker in the UK. They have a storefront with Amazon.co.uk and ebay.co.uk. On ebay.co.uk, they are not offering the pack of 2 batteries with the charger.
Does anyone know any other source where I could get the pack of 2 batteries with the charger in the UK?
If I were to buy it from the states and get the two pin charger, would there be any issues in terms of charging / voltage etc (obviously would use something like a travel adaptor to deal with the two pins over the three pins).
Thanks
7dayshop are selling original Samsung batteries for £9.69, or clones for £4.09.

I know that there have been some issues of people charging the Anker batteries in other chargers. I have seen on more than one occasion a picture of the battery catching fire while charging. I have never had this problem as I buy from laptopmate on eBay. The Anker batteries do last longer than OEM, I can confirm that. I don't see a reason that converting the power would cause a problem though. The charger (probably) has a fail safe in it to prevent this from being a problem. I would, however, use a converter and not just something to switch from US style to European style plugs. Also, I would hang out pretty close to it the first 4 or 5 times you charge any battery in it to make sure it doesn't smell funny or get extremely hot, thus starting a fire.
was so strange been looking for these on ebay, noticed they have a supplier of just the bats in the uk but the 2x and charger is only usa based. Sent them a message to see if they have a supplier in the uk if not I'll probably import.
From what Ive come to understand is the cases of exploding batteries is because of the cheap ass black charger that you can get with the bats

The supplier for Ebay and Amazon seem to be the same company, Laptopmate. For some reason they have UK chargers for Anker batteries used by other phones, but not for the SG2.
Laptopmate seem to be the Anker supplier in both the US and the UK. I have emailed them on ETA for the UK chargers for the SG2, but they have not emailed back. However from Ebay it seems they will ship the US charger to the UK.
In any case, for me, I've found that via Amazon.com they will ship the US chargers to Hong Kong (which is where I live). I ideally wanted the UK chargers, because HK uses the same power supplies as the UK.
The whole freaking irony is that all of these batteries and chargers are made just across the border from where I live, but I haven't found a single supplier for Anker batteries in HK.

Nope, it's generally been poor manufacturing techniques (for the batteries), resulting in fragments of metal in the lithium gel.

rather than talking about Lithium Ion batteries in general. It sounds as though you've heard of specific recent problems with Anker batteries, though. I hadn't. But if I had, that'd doubly put me off as a) that was a problem a few years ago, but all the big players seem to have got their house in order and b) official Samsung batteries are about the same price these days (£9.79 for Samsung, US$15.99 for Anker).
Oh i see sorry about the mix up.
The anker batteries can be brought with a cheap ass charger which is black and is believed to have caused a few ankers to go bang or a white anker charger that seems to be safe

OK so I got the batteries shipped with Amazon to HK.
They have now arrived and am presently using one of them after charging it overnight (can't comment on battery life just yet!)
Do have a couple of quick questions though, which I think have been answered, but want to double check:
- Can I charge the Anker batteries via standard mains charger (I think previously people have done this but they say the charge is a lot slower than usual).
- I have another third party battery charger which plugs into the micro usb of my mains charger, can I use this with the Anker batteries (I think the answer will be the same as above).
- Can I charge my standard Samsung battery with the Anker charger?
- Has anyone used the dual charging function of the Anker charger where you are able to charge the battery and the phone via usb at the same time?
