The android clock and alarm when it goes off never stops. I used to have a wimo phone that would sound an alarm but stop alerting after a few minutes. Does anyone know of a clock/alarm app that works in a similar way?
has anyone found an alternative alarm that doesnt go off forever?
I use Alarm Klock, which is free in the market, and I like it a lot. Good snooze feature.

after the alarm goes off, for how long does the alarm keep ringing? I want something that will stop alarming after a few minutes.
It's a setting: 1, 5, 10, 30, or 60 minutes.
HTH!
I use Gentle Alarm which is a paid app. It's highly customizable, and if you like you can control down to the minute how long the alarm sounds.
Other than that I love how it fades in, so it gives me a chance to turn it off before blasting my brains with loud sound and night mode, muting notifications while you sleep but allowing calls to ring.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to try that one out, too. I used GAlarm when I had a WinMo phone, and I miss how customizable it was.

awesome! this is what i was looking for thanks.
Digital clock and digital clock widget has a pretty nice alarm clock with the snooze function. I've been using it for a little over a month and love it. They are both free in the market.

My alarm has stopped ringing for some reason. It will still vibrate, though. If I turn off vibrate, the phone will light up and the touchpad will flash, but no sound comes out.
I've read in other threads you're supposed to set the alarm sound, wait for the music to play, and then set the volume there. I've done this, turned "Media volume" all the way up. The alarm still doesn't ring. Ringer volume is all the way up. I've even waited for the (silent) alarm to go off, and then tried to increase the volume. Pressing the volume keys while the alarm is going off just hits snooze. Any ideas, people?

Have you checked that the alarm volume is up? Go to Menu>Settings from where you enter your alarms and double check

What ROM and have you installed any notification apps that may have disabled your notifications?
are you using the stock alarm clock or another app?
Well, I "solved" the problem by downloading a replacement application from the Market. I forgot that even though it's a system application, the alarm is just another application. If it doesn't want to work, then screw it. The new alarm has a configurable snooze, as well, which the stock alarm clock lacked.
I have a 2013 N7, stock rom, Glitch kernel... and a weird problem.
Occasionally, when my morning alarm is supposed to go off, it doesn't. The screen will turn on, the option to snooze or dismiss the alarm will show, but there is no sound.
The volume is all the way up, and if I start to play music or a video it will have sound... but the alarm will randomly be silent.
Has anyone ran into the issue before? Surely this wouldn't be a kernel issue, would it?
Any ideas?

alarm sound is a totally different slider than the media volume, so while you may be able to play music, the alarm sound can be off. go into setting and sound and click on volumes and let me know what you see. alarm volume should be towards the bottom (i think)

You were correct, Alarms volume is at the bottom. Alarms volume is turned all the way up.
Alright, I hope I'm not tripping, but I'm pretty sure alarm volume (at max) is significantly lower than ringtone volume (also at max).
I'm playing the exact same tune, when I select it as a ringtone, it blows my ears away. When I select it as an alarm it's just... softer... a lot softer. Throwing all of the sound through the bottom speaker but nothing at all through the top speaker. Sounds like a problem to me.
I definitely would like my alarm to be louder so... any suggestion?

It is. And the clowns at HTC told me it is "intended that way". Fawking douchebags. 3rd party alarm apps make no difference either.
Hmm, very strange. My alarm is loud as hell and will tear me out of bed. This is stock clock app with a mp3 as the alarm tone. Definitely loud enough on my end.

Same here my alarm is set at 1/4 volume. It is way too loud even at half volume.
This happens because during notifications, only the bottom speaker is on, at least on my AT&T unlocked version. A coworker who has t-mobile version says that both speakers are working during notifications on his phone. I think it's a bug..
My previous phone, Gear S2, had no speaker so the alarm was silent and just vibrated. This was ideal for when I work as an invigilator for exams where I have to tell the students to save their work very 20 minutes. My new Galaxy Watch alarm both vibrates and makes a sound which, clearly, is not a good thing in an exam room! Is there a way to turn the sound off or another app which I can use to set alarms? I have been using the Timer alarm but then I can only set one alarm at a time instead of setting all of them in one go.
Thanks for any help.
You can change alarm sound ( set it to mute in your case) and change vibration pattern when swiping to the left while editing your alarm. It's the next screen after the day repeat screen.
Thanks so much! I had never noticed that those settings existed but have changed to mute and all good now.
I set the ringtone to vibrate or silent so as not to be woken while asleep. Unfortunately my alarm is also silent. The volume for the alarm is set to almost max. I even tried through bixby as it has an independant volume but same result.
I have had HTC and Huawei and they have separate alarm clock volume.
Is there a secret?

Go to alarm then hit the three dots and turn off vibrate for alarms. Same thing happened to me. Was late for work first day with phone.
Thats exactly what I was looking for. I'm getting old and I'm missing such simple things.
Thank you
