I tried to patch Rosie.apk from stock froyo rom to allow drag screens (like in modaco custom rom):

So i deodexed it, decompiled, made changes, compiled, signed, zipaligned and replaced my Rosie.apk in stock rooted froyo ROM. But then Sense didn't boot up. Where can be a problem? Maybe it don't work because i'm using deodexed Rosie.apk on odexed ROM? (as stock rom is odexed). Can pls someone with deodexed rom try this patched rosie?
Edit: I did it! Tested and working on stock rooted froyo rom (odexed), download:
i did that too but didn't work...i even tried paul's patched rosie but don't boot...i think it's cause of odexed rom and deodex system app
It's working now.

What did you try differently as I was trying to modify framework-res.apk and then Sense wouldn't launch.

I have modded framework-res.apk too and it's working well. It's not odexed, so there was no problem with this. I decompiled it, added supercircle battery mod files, compiled, signed, zipaligned and then i flashed it via update.zip.
What was odd was that I pushed the original back on and that didn't work either (unless I named the backup wrong but I doubt that). I never signed it, but, I never used to on eclair either. Maybe I was just being stupid, I'll try again.
hey man why do you have commands for deleting the dalvic cache and cache in update-script???
i edited it and just left the command to copy rosie into system and it worked just fine
thanks anyway for the patched apk
sorry what do you mean by dragging scenes?........................sudeki300
Okay, I pull framework-res.apk, rm'd it, pushed it back. Now it won't work (keeps restarting, launcher fails). I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. I played around like this on eclair fine.
not scenes....screens!!!!
let's say you want to make your very left screen as the default one (meddle) you pinch in regularly to bring the screen preview , press and hold on the rom you want and drag it whereever you want to be

no worries lambro have a good night...................sudeki300
Wipe dalvik cache is there for deodexed rosie.apk, which i tried before. As now is odexed, that command is useles and i will remove it. But it isn't doing any problems either with that command.
problems now but why delete my cache....it may affect other apps....dunno though!!!
anw good find
@ranwej
Would kindly tell me what are the changes you did to code
I want to do the same to a newer version.... appreciate it
Sorry i deleted that project since i don't have HTC phone anymore.. As i remember... you need to add 2 lines of code to one file in decompiled app .
Try to deodex and decompile my patched file and original one from proper firmware version... then compare folders with some compare program (i'm using BEYOND COMPARE - very good one) and you will see that difference...

Is it possible to modify the unlock screen for our phones so that it doesn't use the Sense one? I'd really prefer having the stock Android unlock screen one over this.
If possible would our phones have to be rooted for this type of override?

No, actually, that's not what he wants at all. I'd also love to use the standard Android unlock screen on my Incredible. I'm rooted, I shouldn't have to buy an app to do this.

No.
That is not what anyone is asking for.
That is not what the OP requested.
Stop suggesting Lockbot. It doesn't even work.
lockbot does the stock unlock screen... care to post a picture of the screen you are wanting... seems i am confusing the nonsense lock with something else
Ok to clarify. We want to have to stock 2.1 lock screen (slide to unlock) instead of having the Sense Unlock (pull down unlock) WITHOUT any app.
The stock ROMS that are out have them... we want that just standard, not just on the ROM. Clear?!
Another cool thing about the stock 2.1 unlock is the ability to go into silent mode from the lock screen without unlocking the phone first and doing it through another means. It saves time and is convenient. I'd love the stock lock just for that reason.
This is what I got

Just tried to pull the android.policy.jar from PMF ROM and install via update.zip

I'm pretty curious about this as well if anyone can figure it out that'd be great. I've tried software (app) unlockers in the past and they are horrid.
This really can't be done with the stock ROM as it is. The entire ROM has to be deodexed and then the android.policy.jar can be replaced.
Just an FYI for anyone else who may be looking - I tried lockbot free per the rec in this thread, and it works great.

when it is locked can you bypass it by hitting the home button? that is the only issue I have with lockscreens from the market.
Well this has been tried on a different handset...trying to push a random .jar file will never work. Far more porting involved. Its built into the sense even though in the frameworks there's . Pngs for the stock lock screen.

Nope because the ROM you are putting the .jar file onto has to be entirely deodexed, including the /system/app folder.

For English, it's under res\values\strings.xml
Do a search in the file for zzz_glass_lock_help_text_2
You can also find other strings.xml files for various languages in other values folders (e.g. values-es)

If you want to use it for your own ROM Release, feel free to use it but give me credits for it!
Thx to CoDdis @ Android-Hilfe.de for making an usable CWM package!
How to for Speedmod: (need to be root!!!)
1: make a nandroid backup (just to be on the safe side)
2: install the CWM file through ClockWorkMod (=CWM )
3: copy my bootanimation.zip in /system/media, make two clones and rename the cloned files to ODEAnim.zip and sanim.zip
4: go to /system/bin, backup and delete the file samsungani
5: rename the file bootanimation in /system/bin to samsungani
Reboot and be happy.

If CM7 uses a kernel with boot animation support then yes!
Hi,
This caused a few problems with my setup and gave me a long black screen before eventually booting. I had already put a custom boot image for my first loading screen which I think is what is causing the conflict. I overwrote bootanimation.zip in system/media with another custom image to get everything working correctly again, but I still have the booting sound from your zip. How do I remove that sound? Is there a wav file or something somewhere that I can delete? Let me know please.
Thanks
*EDIT* Not to worry, I found it in etc/poweron.wav
Nice work, looks awesome!

Superb bootanimation. I feel I'll keep rebooting to show it off.
Loved the part "Press VOLUP and HOME to enter SETUP".
Why don't you put the final images of the two screens in the OP?

Hello all i wanted a custom launcher like adw to become my default launcher, not just a regular app that over wrights my stock launcher, i wanted htc launcher gone and i didnt like the looks of it so i came up with this tutorial, this is a tutorial of how to completely remove the stock htc launcher and install adw launcher (like cm7) or your favorite launcher to become apart of your rom.I am not liable if you brick your device, thats why #1 is backup in nandroid, just in case you do not like this or want to go back to stock in the future, if you need help please reply and ill help you out. I tested this on my htc wildfire s stock rom, it will only work if your using stock sense rom. I DID NOT MAKE THIS ZIP, THIS ZIP BELONGS TO Calkulin HERE ON XDA,THANK HIM FOR MAKING THE ZIP, ALL I MADE IS THIS TUTORIAL AND HOW TO INSTALL A NEW DEFAULT LAUNCHER
*why to change?*
*removing stock launcher gives you a little more internal space
*installing adw or go launcher runs faster, smoother and can be customized unlike the stock htc launcher
*for those that have found a rom that performs great and just want to get rid of the htc launcher
*Downfall to changing*
*you can no longer use htc widgets, skins.
*Tutorial*
1.Make a nandroid backup
2.download your favorite launcher to your sd card from a computer, do not install it! the reason not to install it is because we want it to become a system apk not a regular app
3.push launcher apk into system/app
4.install apk inside system/app
5.press home, it will ask you to make default launcher click "yes"
6.download the zip attached below
7.place zip inside sd card
4.turn off device
5.open cwm
6.under advanced-wipe dalivk cache
7.install zip from sd card-Calkulin's_Remove_Sense.zip
8.reboot
9.now your phone is running your new launcher, everything will work normal
*click thanks if you like!*
*Also*
*if you do a factory reset in settings (not a hard reset) the launcher will still be installed, thats why you have to move the launcher.apk inside system/settings now its apart of your rom

Can it be done in any other way, lets say you put adw launcher in system/app or any other directory (lets say you want to change launcher in any of roms), then just using titanium backup, uninstalling htc ui, or any other launcher u wish to be replaced, and save yourself from rebooting and using this zip file that you attached ?
So basically just replacing this recovery installation step, with titanium uninstallation of laucher that is preinstalled...
second thing, will this work on other roms, and will the thing i wrote just work on ANY rom ?
Yes that's a good point lol try it and see, not sure... we would need somone to test it out

Oh they are amazing! I think all of the roms must use these icons. Thanks
thanks very much!
Due to the tedious process of pushing one by one, I've made a .bat to do it for you.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73556022/battery_install.zip
Unzip the icons, put the .bat into the folder where you've got the icons located and run!
Sorry to be such a noob but can i replace these on my stock rooted 1.28 and, if so, can somebody explain to me the easiest way of doing it.
I don't see why not, It appears to have worked for me. Easiest way to do it is download the icons, unzip them, get the .bat I made and put that in the same folder as the icons, then run the .bat.
EDIT: After pushing them to the phone, it appears they haven't loaded. After pushing, I rebooted but I see no change to the battery status icon.
EDIT 2: Tried pushing just with the .zip, still no change to the stock battery icon.
