Facebook calendar listing things twice on my calendar. - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

for wahtever reason, SOME, not all of my facebook events are listend twice on my calendar. You'd think if it was double posting from syncing twice, everybody would have double birthdays listed. This isn't the case, only SOME are doubled up. When I remove the facebook calendar from view, they both disappear.
Anybbody have any idea whats going on? It all started after I installed the toastmod froyotized kernal. The calendar items also would flash so i think there might be some issues there.
Other than that everything is great. Thanks.

anybody have any idea wahts going on here?

Sounds like an issue with the Facebook app and I am sure that nobody here is the facebook app developer so I would ask facebook.

do you have both FB and FB for sense synced?

I'm getting this problem as well.
Under the calendar app, I have 4 possible calendars that I can select: My Calendar, my google calendar, UK Holidays and my facebook calendar.
From trial and error it's only when I select My Calendar that I get duplicate facebook birthday entries. For some reason my facebook birthdays don't even show up in the calendar when the facebook calendar is selected.
Seems odd, not really sure what's going on.

Calendar Sync Issue

My Desire seems to want me to really celebrate my friends birthdays!
I am syncing my contacts and calendar items from my PC. This includes all my contacts birthdays. I am using Outlook (2007) but no Exchange.
In many cases, I have between 5 and 10 duplicated birthday items in the calendar for the same person. However, when I look on the PC, there is only 1.
Looking on the phone under Calendar>Menu>Settings>More>Calendars, there are 3 calendars listed - My Calendar (no idea what that is?), one called my name (which appears to contain the items I have added on the phone) and PC Sync. The PC Sync is the one which generates the multiple entries, because if I untick this, all the multiple entries disappear.
I suspect the problem is to do with a combination of syncing and multiple calendars (although to my knowledge I only have one calendar on the PC).
Debating just removing the lot and starting again! Not ideal!
Any thoughts on how to rectify this problem?
Noone else?
I take it noone else is seeing this problem?
If I scrap syncing to Outlook Calendar, does Desire <-> Google Calendar work ok?

I don't have exchange at all but have found the google calender to be excellent so far. If you want more specific options for an event, you get more on the web page than in the android options. However, it's synced fine and works very well so far for me.
I'm sure that it's a simple options issue being the reason you're getting loads of birthday entries but I don't know how to help on that.
What I do like about the google calender is that I can select which calenders I want to show on my phone and which I don't. Also I have a little call tracker app that posts all my calls and missed calls in a separate calender online... works great.
what's that tracker app called? Sounds useful - in app store?
Mark One: I use CallTrak, pretty good ...
and you might also want "SMS Backup", the same for SMS ...
Thanks - looks great. Dumb question (android noob) - how do you set it up to sync with another calendar. I have created a new calendar on the same google account but it doesn't show up as an option in CallTrak - I can only see my main calendar or UK Holidays.
Thanks, M1
No worries - I didn't leave enough time (like half an hour!) for the new Gmail calendar I created to sync with the phone.
Now working as it should. Thanks.

why are my facebook events listed so many times?

In my calendar, my facebook events such as birthdays and such are listed multiple times per event. I am only viewing 1 facebook calendar so it shouldn't be this way. anybody else run into this problem after uninstalling and reinstalling calendar apps?
nobody but me is having this problem? that can't possibly be.
You sure that it's just the facebook calendar? Maybe the birthdays synced with Google, and it's showing Googles birthdays as well.

That's weird... how many duplicates are there? I don't know what your problem could be. are you still using HTCs sense? maybe its something with Facebook for HTC and Facebook with Android

[Q] Syncing Calendar with Facebook

Heya
How do I get my Facebook birthdays and events to show up in my Calendar ? So far only the weather predictions for a particular date are shown.
Cheers
MJ
I guess you already have facebook set up. Should just be a matter if following this menu path:
Calendar
Menu
More
Calendars
Tick facebook
Then you might have to wait for it to sync.

Yes I have the normal facebook setup (not the HTC sense one).
I don't see the option to add the facebook calendar to my calendar.
Is something missing ?
Ok I just did a quick test and you need to set up facebook for htc sense to get it to work. The standard facebook syncs contacts only.

I would actually like to know the opposite. How do I remove all the facebook birthdays etc from the calendar?
I have turned off facebook sync, google calendar sync, and have cleared all the calendar data and cache. But every time I restart the phone they just appear again. I have no idea how to get them permanently, can anyone give me some advice?
You can import facebook events into google calender. After that you will see them in your phone calender, as well as on the web google calender. Follow this guide http://www.insidefacebook.com/2009/02/15/how-to-sync-facebook-events-with-google-calendar/

[Q] Where is this "My Calendar" stuff coming from?

I've been wondering this for a while but after doing some googling I really can't find an answer. When I restore my account and stuff after flashing a ROM, everything is fine, but when I get in my calendar I notice some items that are a different color (not gmail) and are lumped into the group "my calendar".
My question is this: Where is this coming from? It's obviously not syncing with my Gmail calendar, but it's getting on there somehow. It's basically some crap I would like to delete such as random people's birthdays and it's usually multiples of the same thing. How do I get rid of these items and get rid of them for good?
If they are birthdays they are coming from either, your contacts list info, Facebook or both. Could be another social or personal app but Facebook always syncs birthdays on my phone, and Facebook contacts synced to my contacts always cause the calendar entries to double

Cant sync phone calendar(S Planner) to gmail

I have searched and read, and most want to sync from gmail to phone..I want the opposite...I have my calendar setup on the SIII with the default calendar app. Im trying to sync this calendar to a new blank gmail calendar. Pretty much just birthdays and other repeat events. the gmail account is checked in the calendar settings. Sync is "ON" for gmail, hit sync now and it will go through with no errors, check google calendar and nothing is there, still blank online.
issue...
I have the same issue... exactly.
Can it really be possible you cant do this?? I dont get why something this simple is not an option, hell they force every other google thing on ya, but NOOO cant sync to google calendar...wonder if this is a google thing or Samsung thing that has the breakdown...and you can sync from google to samsung, just not the other way...
in your settings (when inside your calendar app) why can't you pick your gmail calendar as your default calendar??
Not sure what your asking, gmail is checked in the settings, but there is no gmail calendar app installed there is only s planner stock on the S3...Ive pretty much just given up as nobody has the answer so Im guessing it just cant be done, I dont see any other places to check or change. Gmail calendar can update s planner , but it will not sync the other way.

oh, sorry. i have a calendar app and in those setting you can specify which calendar you wish to sync with.
If you click the calendars button at the top you will see a list of calendars. The first one is probably My Calendar, then My Tasks, then a list of gmail calendars you have. Only the gmail calendars sync with gmail. The sync is bi-directional.
Thanks
