my Desire can not connect to my Laptop's wifi .
But my ipod touch can do it !
My configuration of Wifi was correct. because the ipod touch 3 can also use the internet sharing.
but the Desire can not even find the wifi's name.
Is there anyboy can help me?
My laptop is DELL D630 and OS is WIN7
I think you can use connectify for that... there seems to be no ad hoc support for desire atm. Not sure though.

the Desire doesn't support Adhoc networks out of stock, you need a patch for that.

That won't work. Desire doesn't have a Texas Instruments wifi chip (the 'ti' in the tiwlan.ini).
Cyanogen does have a fix coming (IIRC) but not in any build yet.

Although connectify works for you, it's not the real solution since only wifi cards in laptops/desktop that support the hostap mode (i.e. turning the card into an access point) will work. A lot of the intel cards don't support connectify.
The real solution is for google to fix the codebase which is in progress to support ad-hoc networks. It's surprising that this was not a default 'feature' in the codebase. It's rumored that Gingerbread will have it supported.

No he wasn't angry at you - it was me! No worries mate. I think he thought I was attacking his intelligence
Anyway - this is a really cool app. I'll try running some diagnostics and see why us G2 users are running into this 12007 error. I more than likely won't be able to do anything about it, but maybe having that info will make it easier for someone with greater programming intelligence than myself to remedy the issue.

yeah I know he was snapping at you, I just thought it was funny that he "corrected" me in the first place when I hadn't even misspoken. I don't typically care, but e-know-it-alls especially get on my nerves when it's been a rough morning, hehe.
it's not going to work still... I knew there had been issues with DRM (you can almost assuredly thank the MPAA for that one), but I thought maybe someone found a work-around. just keep crossing your fingers, and if you're a paying Netflix customer, SEND ANGRY COMPLAINTS! certainly looks pretty, though!

I don't get the 12007 error. I get 1005. Unable to locate server or something. I am a subscriber and was able to log in and see all my stuff but not watch. It is working fine for setting up my queue and what not. I will continue to use it in that capacity. Will look forward to this getting cracked.
Manage DVD queue?
Just like everyone else, I can't stream instant movies. But I already knew that before loading this apk.
What I really want is to manage my DVD queue and Instant queue. The problem is it looks like this apk can only manage my Instant queue. I don't see my DVD queue. Is it just me?

Have you tried queue manager?
nice interface, requires adobe air to be installed but it's the best free netflix instant/disc queue manager I have found.
I'm fairly certain the reason it doesn't work is because of a hardware lock. Netflix has come to an agreement, that because android is so open, there'd be no way to stop piracy, without a hardware prevention method. It will be usable starting with the "next-gen" qualcomm and others processors.
Not saying it can't be bypassed, but I'd bet its the hardware issue.

I think its funny netflix cares so much. I mean at this day in age, everythin streamed can be recorded no matter what. The file is hittin said comp, phone, tv, device. So all ya gotta do is find out where the file is or how to send the feed to somethin else that can copy it.

XDA custom ROM devs,
While I have yet to root my new Galaxy Nexus, I, as many other folks I presume, am extremely unnerved with lack of MSC mode. both MTP and PTP are bad, for a variety of technical reasons, but the implementation by Sammy/Google on this device make it even worse.
I run Linux as my primary desktop/laptop OS, and I have another Win7 laptop, and the experience has been awful on all three systems. I ended up using doubleTwist AirSync and AirDroid for my music/files management, but that is not I expect to be able to use the device.
Anyhow, long intro aside..
I have a proposal for reimplementing MSC on this device, and will probably do it once I root my device, but thought to kick it around here and see if anyone's interested.
Add the ability to create an ext4 image with 4/8Gb size, and mount it to /sdcard.
Sure, once rooting and changing ROM, it is possible just to make a secondary partition, but I believe doing the above gives more choice (in case you like have a flattened large partition, without MSC support), and would support a variable size more easily.
There is still a question if the device would automatically adjust to have a "partition" to mount/unmount, exposing MSC mode, or if it will behave like it does with external storage.
Any takers? Any reason you deem this not to work?
@tsella
Can't see why it wouldn't work.
Might be more effective to see if you can get the contents of /data/media shared using CIFS or NFS. That would probably be about the same effort, but you'd still retain the flexibility which exists today.
Or maybe get MTPFS working.
Well, this is the best solution I have ever tried, when it comes to moving files between devices.
It's fast, I don't have to wait for mounting/unmounting, and no need to eject the device.
i stil cant see whats so awful as how it go's now without masstorage.

It seems gmtp works fine with Verizon phones, not GSM version. I have been through gmtp, mtpfs, built my own libmtp - does not work for me.
On Windows, copying a large amount of files usually stops at some point and needs to be retried.

There are certain instances where you will run into issues. For example, a vast majority of 3rd party car stereos with USB ports only support mass storage mode. There are very, very few that support any other formats, including MTS. I can't listen to music off my Nexus with my car stereo and charge it all with one cable -- I have to bust out the auxiliary cable as well, which just gets messy.

The wifi direct in 4.0.3 is buggy as ****, you do need a 3rd party app and i'm assuming that since there aren't many out there is because it's so buggy. A buddy at work here made a quick one and testing was bad, upon further investigation we found that there are a bunch of bugs in the google code.

I am gotta mad about this "EXPENSIVE" phone.
So who do we bytch and moan to either fix the google code or to implement this feature in core android apps such as the Gallery and Play Music?
Forewarning: I have not posted for help here before. I will try to include as much detail as is necessary without giving way to a flood.
Device: VZW Galaxy Nexus
OS: Cyanogenmod 10.1 (toro)
App attempted: Wifi Tether for Root Users (v 3.2-beta2)
I chose the above app because it seems to be what a great deal of people use once rooting their phones. When I tap to start tethering, I'm told that errors have happened and that I can view the log to see them. I've attached a screenshot of the log.
Any suggestions, anyone?

I am not a clever man. I wasn't certain if I would be able to use the CM default hotspot without VZW finding out. So long as that thing is safe to use and they won't find out, then I'll definitely use that instead.

WiFi Direct have not hardware limitations, it limited only by sertification of devices. And Xperia S is not sertificated only because of Sony. I currently investigating how to port and enable WiFi Direct and screen mirriring for Xperia S for month. The problem is that qualcomm has not released wifi drivers with p2p functionality for S3 processor which we have. BUT on test firmware of HTC Sensation WiFi Direct seen working, and i currently searching for files in that ROM which i must copy. Why do you think so? If WiFi Direct have no such limitations, and Screen Mirroring which working over WiFi Direct, why it should have such limitations. It is open source technologies, but it is very strange open source - i couldn't find any sources on the web. So it's up to us to find how it work.
